What are the breeds of these dogs, especially Pogo, Carl, and Boss?
Boss (floppy eared black and white) 3 year old 1/4 pit bull, 3/8 whippet, and 3/8 greyhound. Carl (Pointy eared black and white) 7 year old 1/2 border collie, 1/4 catahoula leopard hound, 1/4 pharaoh hound. Pago (small brindle) 1.7 year old 100% working bred pit bull. Sherni (pointy eared brindle)2.3 year old Dutch Shepherd.
@@HELENGodLoves that's just how he is. He eats lots of high calorie food, and is wormed on a regular basis. Some dogs just don't hold very much weight when they are active.

That day, every rat laerned to fear Such a Good Dogs...
I was thinking something similar.? The ones who survived all gathering at the Rat Bar sharing escape stories " there were these giant aliens. They had these small dark furry aliens running everywhere. They were as fast as we are!!! We don't know what they were!! Never seen anything like it ever!! Then they released THE KRAKENS!!! IT was a slaughter!! Hundreds of us were abducted in these giant red and orange ships. We kept hearing the giants screaming "GOOD BOY PANGO!!! We think Pago was the leader▪︎ all we could hear was "CCCHHHHHSSSSSSSHHHH GOOD BOOOYEEE GOOOD BOYEEE!! GOOD JOB!!! KARL!! PENNY!!! It was horrible!! We need to start prepping. I see the end is near. Me and the Mrs are bugging out. We have our GO BAGS, some toilet paper and all the tequilla we can carry for trading!!l. LATER!!

I hate the people that say this is "immoral" or "wrong". These dogs are helping get rid of diseases, keep native populations alive, helping people, and just in general being dogs like they are meant to be. These dogs are meant for hunting and as you can see in the video they are passionate about it! they love it as they should! this works much better than poisons and other traps! great content!
NOTHING immoral about this,..BEST way to keep the rat population from exploding and helps to keep mans best friend at the top of thier game,.LOVE this channel

Penny, I think, is literally herding the rats towards the other dogs. I thought she was just getting it stolen because she doesn’t bite down on them pretty often but I noticed that she’s actually jumping in and out of the perimeter often and she always consciously spiraling in closer to one of the big lurcher‘s when she’s looking for rats. She might not like biting them but she sure as hell isn’t letting them go!

More effective than poison too, rats are smart enough to eventually stop going into traps or eating poison the only way to really get rid of them is to directly kill them

Dogs and minks hunting rats, never knew they can be trained to hunt them.😲 This is way better than spraying chemicals and food poison 💯
Their not trained to hunt their trained to bring the body back and not run away the minks and dogs know how to hunt since their Carnivores who naturally hunt rats
Also avoids the random unintended victims that sometimes set off mouse/rat snap traps, like cats, dogs, gophers, squirrels, snakes, etc.
I love that when boss gets ahold of a rat, he just crunches it.

People tend to think rats are weak but you got to realize it took The combined effort of three species to catch all these dog, mink, and human.

@@heaththompson3834 he has the insight to be where you expect the rats to go to, and he is super accurate when he gets them, you even see him at the end of this video dropping one and you see him look and aim right for the head to kill it off instantly. you can see this is not his first and not even his 10th rodeo catching rats. Well trained dogs and proficient in what they need to do.
man i think sherni, so well trained, putting the rats in the bucket without even being commanded too. and all the good doggo's knowing not to keep attacking the dead ones, so cool to watch.
I have 3 Rottweilers, I cast this channel to my big TV. This is my Rottweilers favourite show hands down ....they watch the whole thing intensely haha 🤣🤣😂😂😂🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

I grew up raising pet rats for 4H and for fun. This doesn't and has never phased me watching this. I can appreciate a good hardworking hunting dog, and mink are so cool!
I've heard people say this a few times before and I still believe it: when it comes to rats, pet rats and feral rats are practically two completely different things~
@@KFC_legs They are completely different, but sometimes there are feral rats that have a hooded appearance just like most pet rats tend to have. I've also raised a lot of feeder rats that were just too big for some peoples snakes, and they closely resemble the feral ones as well and kind of act like it haha

I had two pet rats when I was younger, this doesn't phase me too! I'm glad I can relate.
Exactly. I've had numerous pet rats and I bred and raised them for both pets and feeders (calm affectionate rats stayed in the breeding program, a$$holes went into the feeder pens), but I've also had horses and I have a garden, so I know how destructive wild rats are, especially since the most common one that gets out of control like this, the Norway/Brown rat, while great pets when tamed, are also a very destructive invasive pest. I love seeing natural pest control like this, using natural predators instead of traps and poisons which can kill indiscriminately.

I love how Joesph talks to everyone, the animals included. Hes so humble, self-aware, and respectful. This is what a good leader looks like.
I have relatives living in SLC, so on their behalf I'd like to thank you for indirectly reducing their rat population.
Far as I know, he's never come to downtown slc where I've seen rats in broad daylight But it's good to see a local with such a cool job

@people here, who think: "poor rats....." These guys infect you with diseases, destory your property and attack chicken/chickies and eggs etc. If the rats live in my garden under the lawn and do nothing, just chilling out, doesn't transfer diseases or destory property, I would say we don't need pest control, but that's unfortunately not the case. I love Mink's determination :)

Poor penny! She was doing so good at digging up the rats by herself but all the other dogs took them before she could get them!
she's really good at finding them and even pursue them but she almost never bites on live prey and run with her head higher than the other dogs. hope she one day kill the rats Because she would be a killing machine!
@@vincefreeride I assume since she's clearly got gun dog in her breed she's got that instinct to find and point out where prey is but not the natural aggression to attack. She's super good at finding them though.

He is just young, by the looks though he could be the best one in 2 years. He really has a “Ratters” drive and is very fast.

No matter how crazy the world is I always have some comfort knowing Mink Man is out there ratting , hell or high water.
It was interesting to see Pogo's body language go from timid to confident by the end of the video. It's clear by some of the scenes that Joe's constant praise helped Poge gain confidence quickly. I'm taking notes😁
It's all about praising what you want them to do, and scolding what you don't want them too do, if you'd noticed Joe even encouraged Pogo by scolding the other dogs if they tried to take his kill from his mouth.
These dogs have the best quality of life. So much hunting, digging, and "Good dawg". ♥️ This is a dog's dream job.

@@h3was547 rats and other small to medium sized rodents almost never carry rabies. You are literally more likely to get struck by lightning twice than to get bitten by a rat with rabies. There are at least ten people who are known to have been struck by lightning more than once, in the history of the world, and yet no human in medical history has gotten rabies from a rodent.

This is one of the weirdest yet satisfying video to watch in KZhead. At first I felt bad for the dogs because they have to catch & kill the rats in the dirt, but later on looking at how passionate the dogs are and they even wags their tail a lot as if like they are so happy catching those rats like winning a prize 🏆 And it's good to control rat population too
Boss and Sherni are such special dogs. Boss is deeply specialized in rat hunting and Sherni is an all-round jack of all trades; your very own dutch army knife :)

This is the last vid from this channel I’m going to watch for my mental health, but just wanted to let you know I think this is a great thing you’re doing. Saving minks from fur farms, helping to clear invasive and harmful animals, and caring for your animals.

Pogo? Pongo? /Carl? Is maybe it's one of Boss and Leah's babies? I know they had a litter but I'm not sure how old they are or how many he kept. I'm honestly not sure which one is the dark coated staffie looking dog.
I *think* he said in a previous video(it was a long time ago), that the live rats go to a friend who breeds them for snake food, etc. Its why if they find nest of babies they try to save them as well.
Pogo is a new pitt bull Mr. Carter is trying out. Carl is a friend's dog.
Highlights of the video for me: "Good job Mink Man" The dogs getting half their bodies down into the dirt sometimes while digging You buddy picking up how to grab the rat just by watching you Poggo diving under the larger dogs to grab rats they missed Congrats on the new record. Next time I play a beastmaster type character in an rpg I want to try to emulate some of the techniques you use with your animals.

Im so allergic to rat and mouse urine and droppings. I’d be sneezing and coughing and later a headache. I admire and enjoy watching you guys doing all this with your awesome pups.

Joseph Carter never has to chose between spending a day out with the pets or doing some pest control, and that's why we love him.
The muscle on Sherni and Boss when the light shines on them. That’s so cool
It's interesting how they take a different approach to killing the rats. Boss shakes them, then kills after they're disoriented. Sherni goes straight for the head and you hear a crunch.
2020: Ends 2021: Joseph stops killing rats and a second plague begins
this is fascinating. How do the dogs know not to attack a mink when they move so fast? Did you put the mink away before the dogs came out? And how do you protect the animals from nails in old pallets which could be sticking out.
Mixture between the senses that dogs have that are much better than ours. Dogs likely hear the mink's distinct high pitched passive sounds, and smell them before they see them. I think dog's reflexes are also faster than ours since they lack the level of consciousness we have, and they have more time to discriminate between rats and minks before the rats would get away.
They dogs are trained and familiar with the minks.
Crazy how good dogs hearing is, they can hear them underground.
This type of job has to be so rewarding for the dogs because they're almost constantly successful.
Kinda felt bad for the rat who got its skin tugged but i couldn't stop laughing cause hes just tugging and you just hear a squeak like "Ey watch the hair" XD
Joseph is almost as good as the dogs at catching the rats.
Hell even I got black boogers in my nose after watching all that dust flying about - you'll be picking / blowing the dust out for a week!
If Penny one day learns to catch the rats it’ll be the best character arc in history

I absolutely love watching these kinds of videos whenever I'm upset or super stressed out. Seeing a good hunt being done is super satisfying to me.
Such amazing sight to see dogs and mink working in tandem. I love your channel and what you do. Some people set out poison for this problem, I enjoy seeing your mink and dogs thwart it naturally. And wow, the amount of meat from those rats go right back to the mink at a later date. Just perfect!

Ohh yeah I remember that so good at that time: "Shernie bucket!!" What a wonderfull and intelligent dog she was! Boss was the top-dog and Shernie was mostly the sniffing and helping dog. May you have also a good time now, sweet Shernie! you "good dog!"
For some reason, I find this very interesting to watch love your work man especially the fact that you have managed to tame Mink's and train your dogs very well on how to catch these little rascals. Love the content! Keep uploading I'd love to see more of this.
I enjoy so much your videos Joseph. I remember when Serny was "afraid" of hunting and killing those rats a couple of years ago when the same time all other dogs in your videos were smashing that hunting rats hobby. Look at her now... she is fast and the best trained rat hunter, she even puts the dead rats in the bucket on her own 😂😂😂
She's not quite as efficient as Boss, but her generalist training makes up for it.
