Massive number of feral hogs taken down in North Texas in one night.
Over the last couple years, UNV customer Ray Shinpaugh has been perfecting the art of feral hog control using a side by side, thermal monocular, shotgun, and laser to eliminate hogs with an efficiency only matched by a helicopter hog hunt.
** Why Do We Hunt Hogs? **
Feral hogs are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. Each year hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of disease and injury to livestock.
Feral hogs compete with native wildlife for resources and also prey directly on the eggs and young of ground nesting birds and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards and snakes.
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population. The introduction of night vision and thermal optics has greatly increased landowners' ability to mitigate the destruction caused by feral hogs.
Feral swine are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year.

If you practice shooting a lot, you can become a really good shot. Most people don't put in the time and effort necessary to do so.

Yes it's fun to do especially with an AK variant, or and hand gun like 9 mm, .40 cal, or .45 cal. With pistol you have to hit them broad side to turn them off like a light switch. 7.62 x 39mm knocks them of their feet at close range because of the energy dump.

I killed one the other day and left it because it took to long to find in the heat. Set a trail camera up to see what would feed on it. Sure enough, a few more ate on it after dark

Its a new thing, guns are hard enough as it is to get in Japan and people arent getting into it anymore, here in NSW some of the big international shooting ranges even have advertisments for hunting trips to japan.

This was the most exciting hog video I've watched, and it gives an incredible (shocking) view of just how many hogs are out there. For the folks who are convinced that fences are the solution, at 3:27 you can see that the hogs are purposefully running for the fence. Why? While hunting is fun it only keeps them away from an area. Trapping is the only way to get large numbers and really put a dent in the population.

I dotn think it is as simple as that. You have a lot of people who think gun ownership and hunting is ok but that registration of guns will help get the death rate down. That doesn't take away from the need to control the wild bore population and any animal population that grows out of control. There are some people that think you can't kill anything, but thats not the crowd that you should at least try to communicate with...death by guns in the US is a problem if 30,000 people die every year from them. its a tragedy and solution should at least be discussed...

I’m an animal lover myself. Never killed an animal grew up in the country to a hunting family. I understand why this needs to be done. It’s not pretty but it’s unfortunately the best way to fix a problem we created. The only problem I have is when people brake actual joy out of it.
