So, who’s here in 2022 and still being blown away by this absolute masterpiece of music? Update March 2023 - Wow. I am blown away by call the comments, and to see how many people come here to listen to this, masterpiece. I thought this would be a good moment to explain why this means so much to me. I lost my dad to cancer in 2013, and he was a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I didn’t like Floyd when he was alive, too stuck in my metal ways. When he passed away, I looked through his record collection so I could have him close to me, and I discovered bands that blew my mind, like Pink Floyd. One day last year this song came on whilst I was taking my mother shopping, and she started to cry because this song was one of their favourites, it was a heartbreaking and beautiful moment. To this day I wish I could go back and talk to my old man about bands, especially Pink Floyd, his experiences hearing from the first time and seeing them live, I really wish I could have that moment with him. Thanks for reading, and keep loving this masterpiece my parents love so much. Miss you old man x

There are many bands and many styles of music, but then there's Pink Floyd. This is music from another planet. This music will still be heard 10,000 years from now. This music is timeless and unmatched. I bow to Pink Floyd.

When I was in rehab trying to get my life back from the crumbles it became this song brought me to tears as I started to confront the wreckage I brought to my life but also the wreckage I brought to the people around me. My marriage had fallen apart. My family wanted nothing to do with me. I was alone and afraid. I hadn't shown or felt emotion in so long I felt like a fraud and a shell of a man. This song helped to break me down while also giving me hope. Id like to say that was the only time I was in rehab but it took a few more years and a huge check to my ego and today I live a life I never dreamed possible. I have the love and respect of my family a career I love. To anyone feeling alone and afraid or stuck balls deep in a rabid addiction just know there is always hope. I know it doesn't feel like it but pray for the strength to endure. I prayed for death. Heroin is a hell of a drug. I don't know you, but I love you with all of my heart. Pray for guidance pray for humility and you will find the strength. No more turning away.
Damn brother that hit hard. Been struggling with depression for awhile and only now am I understanding the pain many others go through on a daily basis and why the suicide rate among young men like myself is so high. It’s because of how alone the world makes you feel. All it takes is a little bit of empathy from someone else to lift you out of that dark place. But that’s too much to ask of the world. Not for me. No more turning away.
This moved me.
@@dianehermann8330 thank you. Much love.
KITdaBerserker, Thank you for your testimony and I'm so glad you got your life back!! Your story will be a tremendous blessing to many who read it. I'm not an addict, but it still moved me. Kindness goes a long way in this world, and unfortunately people today have forgotten their fellow man. Again, I wish you all happiness and joy with your life my friend.
My adult life between 18 and 35 or so revolved around Heroin. Not just me, but my mother, my friends, everyone. What chance did I have? You don't get out of a situation like that with another addiction. Find that new addiction, whether it be making yourself as healthy as possible, working a job you care about, throw yourself into your family. Religion. It doesn't matter, long as you find it. Whatever it takes.

On the turning away From the pale and downtrodden And the words they say Which we won't understand Don't accept that what's happening Is just a case of others' suffering Or you'll find that you're joining in The turning away It's a sin that somehow Light is changing to shadow And casting its shroud Over all we have known Unaware how the ranks have grown Driven on by a heart of stone We could find that we're all alone In the dream of the proud On the wings of the night As the daytime is stirring Where the speechless unite in a silent accord Using words, you will find, are strange Mesmerised as they light the flame Feel the new wind of change On the wings of the night No more turning away From the weak and the weary No more turning away From the coldness inside Just a world that we all must share It's not enough just to stand and stare Is it only a dream that there'll be No more turning away?
The funny thing about David Gilmour’s guitar solos is I never want them to end. He could play for 30 minutes straight and I’d still be bummed when I heard him and the guys wrapping it up. I want him to keep building, higher and higher, soaring into the clouds and beyond, playing forever and ever...

After being born with 2 ears, a brain, a mouth and what my colleagues claim “a soul” along with a masters and doctorates degree in Epistemology, I can indeed remove the the use of the words “one of” and officially declare the objective truth (to the most knowable and agreeable belief of what is “truth”) that David Gilmour is in fact, the greatest musician/composer/guitarist of all time. We are still doing conformational studies at the university, but we believe he will end in the top 100 human beings of all time.
This is David Gilmour at his very best- so emotional, so powerful delivered with such raw emotion - this song touches my heart to its very core.

Everyone knows David is a legendary guitarist, but his voice has this smooth, dusty, atmospheric quality that I think is just as beautiful.
This is the pure truth!
It was almost like he was born for his brand. Everything from the musical score to the vocals is perfect
It's like his voice was specifically created to match with the music he makes. It fits with the dreamy, smooth and ethereal vibes so perfectly. It just wouldn't work if he sounded like Tom Waits or something.

When the backing singer goes high.. sends shivers.. This is a Masterpiece. There's Guitarist out there like Hendrix, Young etc classed as great guitarists but which i never understood why but when you hear Gilmour play solo's. He tells a story you can all relate to. He puts you in the moment. Is there a better performance then this from any other guitarist... I think not!!!
I prefer these backing singers to the ones in the Pulse tour. Great voices, but the dance moves of the Pulse singers are OTT and distracting.

And in 2024, in fact as long as I live.
I was born in 1995, I discovered pink floyd from my father, who is a huge fan. David Gilmour is a gift from nature, from a world nobody knows except him. He is a personification of Jesus, a man who can change your life in better through music. He speaks about love and pain through his music, teaching you that in life you have to love and stay in armony with the great gift of life given by God, even though sometimes life can stress you. Stay safe brothers and keep listening to real music.

I'm 64 and first fell in love with the sounds of Pink Floyd in 1973. To this day... THIS SONG brings tears to my eyes The lyrics changed me 50 years ago and I never looked down upon a homeless person or a person in need throughout my life and I offer what I can. Floyd's legacy live on in so many Floyd fans both in their 70's and now new young generations are falling in love with the lyrics and sounds of Floyd, and David Gilmour carrying it onward. May Syd finally be at peace and he and Richard playing in eternal life.
