Announcing the release of Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ as a deluxe box set to celebrate 50 years since the release of one of the best-selling albums of all time. Newly remastered, the box set will be released on 24th March 2023.
One of the most iconic and influential albums ever, Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ continues to find new audiences globally. The album was partly developed during live performances, and the band premiered an early version of the suite at London’s Rainbow Theatre several months before recording began. ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in the US on 1 March and then in the UK on 16th March 1973. The new material was recorded in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road studios) in London. The iconic sleeve, which depicts a prism spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie. ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
The new deluxe box set includes CD and gatefold vinyl of the new 2023 remastered studio album and Blu-Ray + DVD audio featuring the original 5.1 mix and remastered stereo versions. The set also includes additional new Blu-ray disc of Atmos mix plus CD and LP of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974’. For full details see listing below.

I'm 13 and i love Pink Floyd
@Mark Petersen Well done youngster. Finding proper music in amongst the crap we're surrounded with these days can be difficult. I hope this comes to mean as much to you as does for a couple of generations before you. I knew my kids were growing up well when they started listening to PF......and now their own kids are listening to it too.
Hi I READ THIS MY FRIEND! IN MY OPINION, YOU ARE AN ASSET TO YOUR PEERS ABD FAR AHEAD OF OTHERS IN YOUR GENERATION! Don’t let it get you down too much. Others may not recognize it now, but the will later (probably after you get out of your teens) Stay strong (and independent) Dr G
Good on you young man
I am 66 and go to the local Senior Center every day. Nobody knows about this wonder. My close in age siblings passed from ALS. My husband was born in 1972 and loves Ozzy but never heard this album through. I am lonely with this wonderful memory. This album is quite profound, especially to the suffering.
I'm 53 and started really listening to Floyd around your same age because the Wall was super popular at the time. You will find as you get older the meaning to this album changes for you. It will also get you though some of the hard times of you life. Good luck and Cheers to your journey my friend.
I am leaving my comment in this comment section so whenever someone likes it after two weeks or months I get reminded of this masterpiece and come to hear it again....
Awesome 😎
It is an artistic masterpiece of audio production. Plain and simple. But beyond that, an emotional portal into a broader understanding of life itself, if you dare to consider its content seriously... hence it's continued popularity through generations of music listeners who hear it. It can hit you a different times though, there is no age more appropriate than any other to visit the dark side of the moon.
Yeah a classic that never dies.
Time to hear it again. 😂
Here we go!
I bet no one will even read this, but this album means so incredibly much to me. I listened to this contantly during 2017, a very transitional peroid in my life. I was lonely, not happy at all, but somehow still hopeful... At the time of writing this, ca 7 years later, I'm genuinely content with my life. I'm not entirely sure it has anthing to do with this album, but somehow I attribute my current situation partly to the impact this album had on me during that difficult time. Thank you for reading :)
I read this.
Yo tambien de alguna manera este album me a enseñado a formar mi caracter centrado y tranquilo y tolerante con quienes me rodean y ver que la humanidad cada dia se pierde por. "Wish You Were Here" is another life-saver.

At last an official version on KZhead with no interruptions between songs, this is the proper way to listen to this masterpiece. Edit: Reading some of the comments saying that listening to it on youtube is not the proper way, I want to clarify that I have it on vinyl and I have a great turntable and audio equipment. For me that's the best way to listen to it... but what I meant is that it should be listened to without interruptions.
Thats very true, I never listened to it on youtube because of that
👏👏👏👏👏
And now will be interesting that could share here the 5.1 or quadrophonic (this one made by Alan Parson) mix.
Back in the day we had to flip the album. And then there was the spot in the middle of songs when the 8 track player I had in my car switched tracks!

My Dad passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2023. He was a huge Pink Floyd fan. He had amazing taste in music. From a very young age, I can remember waking up to him playing this album from his bedroom, and then as I got ready for school. I will miss you SO MUCH Pop. My heart is broken. I miss my morning phone call from you...especially your "My son!" after I said hello. You're no longer in pain or suffering. I love you Papasito. Thank you for EVERYTHING! Forever in my ❤️.
I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. It is a nice tribute you put here and appropriate on his favourite group album. Sending you kind and comforting thoughts

I played this for my dad as he was passing away. It was just him and i in the hospital room and he was at that stage where there were no more words that could be spoken. All i could think to do is play some of his favorite albums for him, with him, one last time while i held his hand. I miss that man so much. This album will always remind me of him.
If my loved ones played this as I slipped away , then I would be be the happiest dying soul. Take care and comfort,, you are loved
This is the last thing I'd want to hear on my deathbed. All my wasted time, all my failures, all my squandered potential. That's not the moment to rub it in.
Oh my goodness, God bless you!! I played Dark Side for my husband as he was passing away in February this year. He was only 38. We ended with "Wish You Were Here" on that album; I could not have planned it any better if I had tried 😢 May your dear old dad rest in peace!! You're a good kid, Jon ❤
Great gig in the sky😢
Yep, I'm down for The Great Gig in the Sky, what else do you want. PEACE TO YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S. ✌️😎🏴
In 1973, my neighbor came running across the street and started beating on my window, he said you have got to come hear this...he had an incredible sound system in his room, we darkened the room, one of the greatest and timeless musical experiences I've ever had...this album defies to be tied to any musical decade..
That's hilarious. I totally get what you're saying. You're saying this album is the epitome of timeless, and I 100% agree. But at the same time it's easy for me to tie this to a decade. Early 1970s at its finest. It just happens to also be the greatest album of all time. This album is the biggest reason why, for me the greatest era of music was the 60s/70s even though it's slightly before my time and I didn't get to experience the vibe first hand, in real time like you did. The 80s were the most eclectic across the board (from Slayer to Duran Duran), creative and experimental with new music tech, the 90s were an amazing back to basics, less flash more substance time, and then we started falling off with the advent of the internet. Enter the "music should be free" crowd killing the dreams and incentive of countless, actually talented musicians, and replace them with soul-less mouse and keyboard warriors ready to click their way into being a talent, no talent required. Can't sing? NO PROBLEM! Auto-tune. Can't play an instrument? NO PROBLEM! Hit ctrl+I for instrument, then clicky click you're Beethoven! 😂
LSD made it a whole new experience

My dad’s favorite band was Pink Floyd. He passed away about 3 weeks ago. I grew up with the best taste in music thanks to my Daddio. His favorite song was Comfortably Numb, but his favorite lyric was from Time and it says “And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking. Racing around to come up behind you again.” When I turned my dad’s car on for the first time after he passed… guess what the first words I heard out of the speaker were? Exactly those lyrics!! My dad has been sending me so many signs since his passing and most of them involve Pink Floyd. I know he’s rockin’ out in heaven right now. Until I meet you there, Daddio. Shine on, you crazy diamond. 💎

I was 11 years old when this album came out and my older sister was 14 (RIP). She always had the cool albums and she had this album first. I remember going to Sears store in 1977 and picking up this album for myself after hearing it. From what I can remember, it never left my turntable. I played it and played it. It was life-changing for me. All these years later at 61 years old with terminal cancer I still listen to this album all the time and all of Pink Floyd’s collection. It’s been my favorite band forever.
A great memory lane Donny best wishes

Thanks for sharing your story! Sending you peace and good thoughts, Donny!
Still the same kid Donny. That kid will live forever in time.
Hi Donny, you have the perfect Music for your last Adventure. Don't panic, you get free.
This album came out during my first year in college. The effects of the Vietnam War were everywhere. I fell into the drug scene and dropped out of college disillusioned. Three years later, I met the girl who would save my life. We will celebrate our 47th anniversary in a few days. This music brings tears to my eyes as it transports me back to a time when my world turned upside down.
I didn't get verklempt until the very end. Still remember how blown away I was by this album when I first heard it back in, oh, '73? I'd never heard anything like it. Still haven't, really. Love the comment from that 13 year old kid. Have heard comments like that before from young folk who think the music being produced today sux and that they wish they could've been around when things like Dark Side were first being created. I'm glad I was.
A world upside down is ripe for a positive change. Glad you made it through buddy.
We're back upside down though again. I didn't live thru the Vietnam era but hugs, man. Your generation paved the way through hell for mine.
This album repeats in history as society repeats history (Vietnam = Afghanistan, etc.) and being one who scored well in both “American & World History” I feel we are seeing the first steps to repeating it again, WW3 but here in America due to so many let over our Southern border. Unless something is done soon, I feel a financial crash come Jan - March 2024 which will be noted as the starting point.
@@richardburtonjr1889 Financial crash: aren't we IN IT! My groceries are up almost 40% with less food. I'm not going hungry, kids are grown and contributing to society but so many are going hungry! Will it get worse? Is that your thought? There will be war in Britian first and then America is my guess. Our Govt is selling us.
I am 64 and still listening to Pink Floyd.I love pink floyd
Transition from 'speak to me ' to ' breathe in the air' is so heavenly

I know, one of the first thing I noticed when listening to this album in the seventh grade ... I was lucky to borrow a magnetic tape with a fifth or sixth copy on it just for a week ... Unfortunately, I could not duplicate it at that time, not only because the quality on the next copy would further degrade, but I just did not have another tape recorder anywhere near (heavy reel-like Soviet-made). On the black market an album like this would cost 70-80 rubles (The Wall up to 150 rubles), while my parents made 140-220 rubles/month each ...
I started loving these guys when I was 13, now I’m 63 and I still love them ❤❤❤

This album was released on this day, March 1, 1973 … 51 years ago. I was 18 and about to graduate high school in Iowa. It was life altering, especially the song ‘Time’ … the lyrics, “And then one day you find Ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run You missed the starting gun” This became like a mantra to me. It got me out of the place I was and to what I have become - a better man. Music is a huge part of my life, and this remains one of my top 3 albums.

One of the greatest albums of all time...meant to be listened to in its entirety. Forget about singles. This is an album that has to be listened to from start to finish. I love that.
There are no gaps between songs here. Many albums of this period were made that way because the burgeoning free form FM radio would play entire albums.............I miss that kind of radio but alas it's all gone now.
@@user-io3th6lo9t As a Teen in the 70s I have found it hard to recognize what this plant has become. We Lived an Era that no other will ever be or compare. . . And why would we ever want it to ? ~d(-_-)b~ aHEAD of the Ages 🤔😎✌
Sure it is //
Totally agree!
I'd suggest that Wish You Were Here and Animals is the same deal. You can't listen to these albums piecemeal.
This is the GREATEST album of all time, hands down!
Keep your Bonnie Tyler. This is my "Eclipse 2024" selection to blast in the neighborhood.
As a Sabbath/Zeppelin/Deep Purple rocker kid of the 70's, this is the album opened up my soul. To this day, it is still a life changing experience to listen to it...over, and over...and over again. In fact, my father, an avid Jazz audiophile, asked me to bring this album out to the living room so he could listen to it. After he heard "Great Gig in the Sky", he looked at me and said, "Play that when I die".

Pink Floyd was a game changer for me. When I first heard this album I didn't understand, I liked The Wall etc. But the more I listened I came to love earlier PF 1967-1975, especially this album. Honestly it's the best album ever made
Love those bands and STV! But your right. Timeless album
Good on yer kiddo ❤ My 86 year old husband is going through the last days of his life at the moment 😢 This album brought us together in 1976 and I am playing it for him now because it has always been special for us ❤ x
As you came together, so shall you part; only to come together again....in Time.
@@gregrobins8054 Thank you. He's gone 💔 I told him I would see him on the dark side of the moon ❤
Sending much love to you at this time 🙏🏻💖

Sending you hugs, so sorry for your loss
31st March 2024 59 years old Will always be a part of me Thank you, Pink
I’m 59 n agree with all of u. They were so far ahead of their time! I like all of their music, but nothing compares to Dark Side, not before or after.
What's amazing about this album is that you can listen to it hundreds of times and never get bored with it. It never gets old. You know all the words, you know all the guitar solos, you know all the music and the sound effects...... you know every second of this album by heart. And yet you can listen to it over and over again.
Facts 💯 went from humming the lyrics bc I didn't know em to well to knowing them by heart 😂
This album and many others in this time period not only catch the artist at the peak of their creativity but are produced and engineered so brilliantly that they will never age or lose their luster and will stand up to endless listenings.
So true Joe. Amazingly, I am still hearing new things in it the older I get and I know this album inside and out. Only the great artists pull stuff like this off.
I can replay the whole thing in my head.
@@jcparks2 😀😀😀😀
Great concept album. It talks about death. Money. Insanity. Getting old. Greed. Life in general. This is the reason it's a epic masterpiece. It touches the soul of what makes us human.
I still think that Wish you were here is the GOAT
Pressures of life.
it's life in album form starts with a heartbeat and ends with a heartbeat
... and, it's 45 +/- years old ... good energy! Namaste
Roger Waters is a lyrical genius he had a nerve breakdown trying to top Dark Side I don't think he managed to I like the Wall LP but there's no way to capture lightning in a bottle twice Dark Side is a masterpiece
I saw the eclipse yesterday in Waco while doing a horseback ride and BBQ. Played Dark Side of the Moon. Previously, I played it while under the aurora borealis. It was incredible.
I’m 14, my dad has the vinyls of Pink Floyd and once a month we sit down together and listen to this album, I never get bored
This album is like the Great Pyramid of Giza. The next generations in thousand years later will found out that this is a masterpiece of art.
A fine poster of these pyramids was suitably included with the original album
That's a funny thought. I don't disagree at all, this album is 50 years old and it's still super popular. This album will never be forgotten. I don't know where they got their inspiration but damn they created a masterpiece. I've probably heard this album 100+ times lol

This album is 5 years older than me, and I cherish it as one of the best pieces of music I have ever listened in my life
in 18 years old and i loved pink floyd since i was a baby my father was putting on time from dark side of the moon and i loved it and still do to this day ❤😇
Comfortably Numb introduced to me Pink Floyd during lockdown. Echoes mesmerized me when I was having a hard time, pressured by lectures and homeworks. Then one day, I decided to checkout this album. Oh man, I wish I could experience it for the first time once more, the magic they delivered.
Now go listen to Animals!
@@jdc_2000 Animals is great but DSOTM is something magical.
@@ipapermc you obviously didn't read their entire comment bro

This was my late husband's favourite album of all time. We played some Pink Floyd at his funeral. Hope you can still hear this darling. Also, 'Wish you were hear', ofcourse.
Мені таку би жінку ....а каца ...не люблю
Sweet. I'm sure "darling" heard you. I joke with friends that they are going to be forced to sit through the entire album, passing j's at my funeral.
Sorry for your lost. He is now at The Great Gig in The Sky.
Thank you celio. I supose we were like 'two fish in a fish bowel'.
It’s most fitting to honor the moment with this album!!!
Shout out from Arkansas! Eclipse 2024!
This album isn't a collection of songs, it's life experience!
for real and far out!
Id say spiritual
Why do I cry when I come here? Sooooo beautiful....
I never really listened to pink floyd even though my late grandfather loved it, I now listen to pink floyd, and I have to say, it's better than most music today.
Most? *ALL
@@sometingfunny5414 it was better back then than the rest of the music too :)
Can everyone just take a moment to appreciate whoever uploaded this video and didn't put any ads in the mix? They are obviously fans who know the album should be listened to front to back. Kudos my man!

I remember listening to this in the 70s after school, and here I am all those years later still listening and never tiring of it. Thanks Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, and everyone who contributed to this masterpiece.
I listen to the album very often, several times a week probably. I listen to it more now than I ever did when it came out. Not seeing Floyd play is my only real regret.
Probably the finest album ever recorded! I never tire of listening to this!
Oh don't mention it, it was my pleasure.
Check out some of the tribute bands. I was lucky to see Floyd several times in England and I've also been to a few tributes. Think Floyd are definitely worth checking out if they are still performing!
I've seen Brit Floyd several times and they are fantastic!
Once in a while a group comes around and just knows the past present and future and makes relevant music of the times.

Pink Floyd really achieved something bigger than themselves with this album. This album is one of mankind's greatest achievements not only in music, but also in art. Not only is it the greatest album of all time, but it is the most perfectly crafted album. Having topics and messages that ring truer than ever. Happy 50th Anniversary to this extraordinary album and piece of art that shall stand the test of time for many years to come.
I'm really sure everyone know better about Dark Side album art more than who they are. Before i listen to them, i never heard David Gilmour, Roger Waters, or anyone else in the band but i'm sure i saw that cover somewhere.
Very Well Said!
I'm 68,remember when it came out, now I'm in a waiting room while my son has heart surgery listening to the best album ever made,THANK YOU, PINK FLOYD
How's your son currently doing?
Hope your son is doing well.
Hope everything went well with your son's surgery.
Wow prayers for your son, I certainly know what he has gone through. 3/06/20 I had a triple bypass surgery.
I grew up with this album and it brings back many memories, good and bad. If it wasn’t for Pink Floyd,..the seventies wouldn’t be the ‘70’s…;the best album of the century!;hands down…
First time doing really good shrooms in 2001, this album was on repeat the whole night. 23 years later, I still trip on it, completely sober. This masterpiece will remain in millions of hearts.
As it's been said, 50 years old and it still sounds like it was recorded in the future.
Well said
Maybe it Was and somehow it Jumped Time cause Sometimes I feel Like I Jumped through time one way and the other before it Returns me to the last place I remember listening From. I enjoy how it Builds up and has several falls and peaks but when it gets to Eclipse Its like A steady Constant peak that gains Intensity till the Very Last Words its like it Brought me to the Center of An Eternally Cosmic Dimension of Galactic, Atomic, Quantum, and Spiritual Proportions and all is in Harmony. It Escapes Time Completely...I think It wasnt Even recorded But is a Moment Frozen or Ingrained In the Webbing or waves Of The Complete Infinite Universe/ all Multiverses... The Members of Pink Floyd just Gave us the Holy Grail, the First and Greatest Translation of TimeKeeper's Universe Code that resonates on Human Frequencies.... I like How you said it Better cause I use way too many words that will never quite have the depth I want to explain the Powers it Holds...

I first heard Pink Floyd at 13yo sitting with my Dad at L&K restaurant on the table top jukebox and thought WOW what is this. PF then became my obsession, im 57 now and still find the music fascinating and will be playing it during todays eclipse. Thank you Dad and Pink Floyd.
50 years later, it still sounds like it was recorded in the future. ❤

Alan Parsons is also one of the best audio engineers so of course the guys had him work on this masterpiece. Not sure this will ever be duplicated. I am blessed to have lived through those times. I'm 68 now and still listen to Floyd all the time. It seems futuristic but at the same time it never gets old.

Imagine hearing it live, as I have by both the Roger Waters collection of musicians.
