    • Even the CW superhero shows are better than this at least they have some passion put into them and their characters are fleshed out. This has some great casting choices but they do not take advantage of that at all.

  • This movie basically used a Teen Titans episode when Raven lost control of her powers and her fears manifested into attacking the team, except that episode told the story way better than this half-baked movie.

    • That’s just a coincidence and likely a product of hair, makeup and wardrobe due to Doctor Who Series 9 was filmed in 2015 while The New Mutants was filmed in 2017.

    • At first I thought it was Buffy reference, since they watch it during the movie... and then remembered that the chara's name in Buffy/Angel was *Illyria* (played by *Amy Acker* , who portrayed Audrey Nathan in Marvel's "Agents of Shield", and Caitlin Strucker in Marvel's "The Gifted" ) and not Ilyana... My google-fu then taught me that Ilyana was the name of the mean blond chick. Dang it! (>_

    • Look, I know that this wasn't much of a good movie, but it still has a lot of potential, I can't believe that Disney's purchase of Fox reverted the film rights to Marvel Studios, ending the possibility of any sequels. I don't care what Disney has done, I REALLY, REALLY WANT TO SEE A SEQUEL FOR THE NEW MUTANTS, and have their alien Technarchy friend, and most iconic teammate, "Warlock" in it. How dare they make a movie about the New Mutants and not include Warlock? Are you reading this, Disney? 😠 I AM SERIOUS!

    • @@bnice1374 I agree, New Mutants was not that bad. It just isn't really a superhero movie. I like that it isn't just another copy and paste "superheroes saving the world" template of a movie. Certainly could have improved on some aspects, but I would definitely watch more of these characters than the primary X-men timeline at this point.

Like 4 times (By rewriting his X3 script so much it became unrecognizable, by forcing him to work with alcoholics during Fant4stic, forcing him to basically ghost-direct Apocalypse while Singer was also drunk, and then telling him he could make Dark Phoenix how he wanted it, until right before production when they said "Oh also, you can't make it two long movies, one 2 hour film lol").

It’s different than what people are used to for super hero movies and for what it was I liked it, and I feel there should have been more to it, but they weren’t going to leave in any Mr. Sinister stuff or cliff hangers if they weren’t planning on continuing it.

  • Oh my god. I've loved the New Mutants since they originally debuted, and I was dreading this movie for so very long after I heard it was going to be a horror flick. And after seeing these clips from it, I can rest easy knowing I never have to watch it. In fact, I will deny this movie ever existed, just like that Jonah Hex film people claim existed, or that joke about Ryan Reynolds playing Green Lantern...

Not that this was much better, but I enjoyed meeting these new characters enough and enjoyed some of their relationship elements. It was still a hot mess, but Apocalypse was like Independence Day: Resurgence bad.

  • There was only one other person in my cinema and they were more than 20 metres away, so seeing this movie was one of the safest places I've been actually. I also work in a mental health unit, so I found the thought of being the only employee pretty scary actually!

    • Yeah, in general that comment about the going to theaters doesn't really hold up. Especially in other countries where COVID-19 has been kept pretty much under control from the beginning. My city had about 30 cases when this came out and we have almost 153.000 inhabitants. I can tell you I felt pretty safe in the theater. Not to say COVID-19 is not dangerous and you should not keep repercussions. Because you totally should, so wear a mask, keep distance and don't go to big social gatherings when your city/country is experiencing a big outbreak. Currently we are experiencing a second wave here with almost 600 cases in my city (I know dwarfs in comparison to the US). So we went into a (smart) lockdown and that is how it should be to keep a handle on this virus. But when it's safe(ish), we should try to enjoy life. We need to be able to live in order to not go insane.
