I won't lie. The Ireland game, Springboks showed the rest of the world why they are feared. It was so nice to see that physicality. Yes I'm part of the group that believes we had to lose 1 pool game to win the world cup. I didn't want us to face NZ in the quarters because they would've beaten us😅
100% agree - was happy to face France instead of NZ. Want to avoid playing NZ at all costs in knockout games if we can.
Eben ' Elizebedi's try against France was also crucial, and is backward block early on to prevent a French try.

Having a player the size and strength of Du toit constantly making big hits like that can be so discouraging for an enemy team, because he's relentless and you don't know when next you're going to be hit like that and he doesn't tire. It feels like a nightmare against a monster

Springbok 13, Damien de alenda ( hope I got the spelling right ) the best 13 on gods green earth. What a powerhouse. Love watching him destroy his opponents
13 was actually Jesse Kriel who had a spell of lack luster performance but absolutely crushed it during the world cup. Really stepped up when Am was injured / out of form. DDA at 12 was also spectacular really didn't put a foot wrong the entire tournament. Speaks volume when you can keep a guy like Big Andre out of a 23 in the knock out games week in week out.
No3 Willemse scrum call from the mark was the single best moment from the entire RWC23.
Name one other team that innovates like that... I'll wait (Ireland run the same offensive system last 8 years)

One of the few teams I readily support when S.A isn't playing, which makes it really hard when the Boks play Ireland, being half Irish myself. Ireland planned 8 years for this World Cup and you still went out in the QF. The boks planned for 5.5 years to achieve more than your choker team did in 36 years of world cup rugby. I wouldn't say they dominated the world cup. They dropped a game to Ireland in the pool matches then snuck through every playoff game by a single point, with the final largely being won because they had an extra player for 60 minutes of the game. They were still very good, but I'm definitely not convinced that they're the clear number 1 team.
You have to factor in the rain during both the England and New Zealand match. That had a major impact on the play and the outcome. Remember too that Bongi Mbonambi was cynically injured by Frizell, which affected our lineouts, our scrums and the impact of the bench against New Zealand. During the Ireland match we did not have a great kicker. The game against France was always going to be close - home team in Paris. Finally, you have to consider the fatigue of the players. We played Scotland, Ireland, France, England, New Zealand, Tonga and Romania. No other team would have made it on that route. For that reason, being a biased Springbok supporter, I would have to say they totally deserved the win.
They won this tournament, having had a pretty tough route to the final, beating some incredible teams. The sheer guts, determination, and physical passion they displayed throughout makes them the number one team in my book. Damn it's great being a bok supporter!

Any team in world rugby would take a win over another team, no matter how close/scrappy/ugly it was. Knock out rugby is just that, comes down to who handles the pressure best. There was a time where SA would lose these close contests, but that chapter has been closed.
