“Katara self taught child soldier” that was spot on . I died 😅 when she called herself “master “ in the series
Agreed! So ridiculous. I got made fun of once for saying a cartoon could be more realistic than live-action, and I still believe it. How realistic is it for a person to teach themselves to the point of mastery? The cartoon did a much better job of implying Katara's progress, and she didn't just proclaim herself a master; she earned it from Master Pakku through persistence and determination.
@@cinderbelle22the people of the Northern tribe called her master Katara even after losing to Pakku. It shows she's gifted enough, she just needed guidance. In the animated she got it from the scroll, Aang's advise, bending underground water, and actual battle experience.
yeah, that annoyed me so much, bending seems like something you would need to be taught properly and her just proclaiming that when we haven't at that point actually seen her do really any training apart from making a water bubble and curternly no training from anyone else (that one line from anng doest count) just seemed redicouls. im sure there are prodigies that require less training but they would still need to be taught by someone and katara didn't really seem like a prodigy with how she had trouble on this show making water move at all in the beginning.
She’s the Rey of water benders
What's crazy is by that point she is a master, we just didn't get to watch her learn.
“Princess Azula… She’s in it” 😂😂😂😂😂💔🙌

@@AlbertoGarcia-wd7scno they didn’t
I think it has to do with the actor's "character" development happening after the show was produced.
@@kagenohikari8the original cast referrwnce was the cartoon, but they changed the writing after.

My pet peeve was every costume looked brand new, none of them looked lived in or worn out from traveling the world and sleeping outside. Props department really needs to add some weathering. I say this because after I finished Avatar I immediately watched the first 2 episodes of Shogun. Masterful costumes in Shogun.
And makeup needs some work too. Yue's wig looked weird.
yeah most of the items and places look a bit worn down and dirty like you might expect places to look if the world has been a war for the past 100 years and then you had everybody in bright clean clothes that looked newer then new.
I have noticed in recent times, everything is too clean, even being covered in dirt, the dirt is too uniform.
That’s one thing the movie did better.
I mean… the cartoon is the same way. Also I thought somewhere someone sew their clothing?
".. make such extensive use of CGI, it comes full circle to being an animated series again"
Yeah, it is the MCU issue. At what point is it not longer live action and just really expensive animated show.

It's very hard to manage that while shooting. Imagine you have to dry or change your clothes every time. Same reason why food is never eaten on a set. It's either it will be inconsistent during editing, or the actor will be full due to the number of takes.
At least they got the Cabbage man right, even they got his original voice actor from the cartoon.

Someone once said, “Tell, not show, is wrong. Show, not tell, is also wrong. Show and tell, given you have room to: have great dialogue and great detail.” The original animated-series nailed this concept, doing it right. 😊
I dunno if telling is always required. One of my favorite villains of all time is so damn good because they never tell you how and why he thinks the way he does. His decisions felt like they made sense but they were still surprising. I've seen a dozen different reviews who all had a different explanation for how he came to be what he was or even what his sexuality was, whether he actually cared for people or not at all. What made that villain so special was exactly the just not telling anything. The author even cut a chapter from the official release because it revealed too much.
More like: "You tell more by showing"
@@sergiosarmiento4371 And show more by telling. :) Kind’a a balance between the two, or favoring one over the other. Got to be some showing, but also got to be some telling. One without the other can prove incomplete (though not always). :)

The scary part of how rushed this feels is when you realize that book one of the original has roughly the same runtime
It's because live action and animation has different timings to convey the same things and emotions. Also, the biggest problem with this show is structure. Is different to writte 8 episódes from nothing, intended to be a TV Show from the beggining transform 20 episodes into eight. Because they are little stories, with each other having their own arcs and serving to especific propurses. So they need to desconstruct all episodes and resconstruct the storylines to make it fit to the eight episode netflix estructure. And i think they did a really great job with it. Their problems lie much more in bad dialogue, excessive explanation and minor changes so the narrative fits the hollywood patherm of storytelling that usually fucks the characters unintencionally. But i think mostly of mainstream media, specially netflix shows and blockbuster movies, suffer from this problems. I think this show can get better and better and we may have a really great final season.
People say its different, but why does it take different timing to convey the same emotions? @@heitoroliveira5166
@@heitoroliveira5166 actually they also added scenes or arcs from future seasons. For ex I think azule does not appear in book 1. So they run out of time because they wanted to introduce things earlier...
Yes! The intro sequence wasted 20mins of runtime. A lot of NATLA original content stole runtime from important plot elements.
The anime is about 78 minutes longer. Especially since the Netflix original has two episodes from ATLA season 2.

The thing that ticked me off most, was how Zuka STILL had an eyebrow despite having a skin deforming 3rd degree burn over it
maby it was a fake eyebrow that he stuck on.
@@pinkpixie8686 this is the only way they could make it a funny scene. Him and Iroh are at a bath house, the eyebrow starts to peel, Iroh looks confused and reaches over to pick at it and pulls it off. Zuko freaks out and Iroh laughs. They could do something like that, but they won't 😂
I too shouted "shut up" at the tv during my watch

Further adding to the humor in this statement is the movie a bridge too far probably could have used with a lot more editing. Though I watched it in the 90's so maybe my historical reference is off and people of the time loved the drawn out scenes.

"Firelord Ozai: Smile bender" That line made me actually smile... Wich is ironic cuz its exactly the thing ozai bends the best :D
