Imagine you sit in a theater, where the movie is shown not in your first language and a lot of jokes go over the heads of the other visitors, but that joke landed on everyone around me. I mean the cinema erupted, it was insane.

At least you were self-aware enough to realize it's something you do sometimes and thus can stop if the other person seems annoyed now. Don't feel too bad, especially since like a lot of the things the Kens were doing, it was done out of naivete rather than malice. So you're only really being an asshole about it if someone asks you to stop it and then you don't.

I suspect it's already happened. However, about comedies women love, we've since gotten "Joy Ride" and now "Bottoms" that attract some women viewers, but not that many to make them successful.
It's more likely that all the toy companies want to jump on the marketing opportunity after seeing the success of this movie.

Sasha and her friends were designed after the Bratz dolls, AKA Barbie's biggest competitors. One friend is apparently even named Jade, and Sasha is Nicknamed Bunny Boo, which was the Nickname of her doll counterpart.

Saw _Air_ this year, where they said Nike's competitor got free ads, by someone writing a rap song about Adidas. (Technically, it was released in 1986, not 1984 when the film was set, but it works.) Meanwhile, they write that popular song about Barbie, and Mattel sues!

My big takeaways from the film was Ryan Gosling playing a plastic doll was the most animated I’ve ever seen him. And getting to see Rhea Perlman again was a gift. Love that lady.
I think he redeemed himself. His dancing and singing fit Ken in Barbie Movie. In la la land is was corny and put me to sleep.
Nice Guys is a masterpiece.

One thing no one talks about this movie is it's really good music, I had to say it's actually one of the most entertaining part of this move.
Some are OK. But, I can't stand that last one in the credits that's so whiny though.

It was an awesome movie, but it seems a lot of people missed the point that Scott was a terrible person and it was about him learning not to be terrible. His relationship with Knives was a horribly unhealthy coping mechanism, and the original movie ending where they ended up together would have undermined the message far more. The comic make sit a bit clearer that he and Ramona are both pretty crappy people but actually fit together a lot better.

@@maggiew.2809 It really doesn't. Did you watch to the end? The movie was deriding toxic masculinity, and supporting healthy masculinity. If you saw them mocking toxic, sexist behavior and thought they were mocking all men, then you are equating toxicity with maleness, which sounds like a personal problem. By the way, women often *are* victims in the real world. Not because man = sexist and toxic, but because sexism and toxicity exist. There's an important distinction between those two concepts.

I actually didn't think I would like Barbie all that much. But when I saw it a couple weeks ago with some friends, I actually did. I was surprised by just how funny it was and yeah I really enjoyed it
same here, I had no plans of seeing it and didn't like the trailers. But a friend dragged me to it and we had an absolute blast.
@Zorro3k6 - I just thought it would be an extended Mattel commercial (but with GREAT production design), but I know several women who were very moved by the message and actually cried in the theater.
