Wonka's father, Count Dooku, is so proud of him despite their differences.
Lollipops. Ought to be called CAVITIES ON A STICK.
That was Charlie buddy Not wonka! 2 different people.
Fun Fact: Apparently, the scene where Charlie notices the newspapers about Willy Wonka's success Dr. Wonka framed is based on an event in Tim Burton's life where he met with his mother after years of estrangement. Turns out while he left home at 15 due to constant fights over his decisions, she had posters of his films framed and even kept her ticket stubs from when she went to see them.
@@Jonnys_Adventrues The movie was fcused on Charlie but the scene he is referencing is literally Wonka reminiscing on his childhood and his relationship with his dad who is a dentist
@@Jonnys_Adventrues No it was Willy Wonka, you’re thinking wrong
Please say in your epic voice "Now you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going." in honor of Carl Weathers
Do the magic hand thing
I think I'd like my money back;]
I see you are a man of culture.
YES! I will now go and dine at Burger King in his honor. Did you know their whoppers are just $1 on Wednesdays? lol xD
the most unbelievable thing in the whole movie was how Willy kept this bar of chocolate his mother gave him when he was a child for all those many, many years (even while traveling aboard to hot climates), yet it was still edible at the end.
I'm refusing to believe this is a canon movie until i can force my head cannon on this movie that his mom was a tooth fairy and his dad was a dentist so he's a sweet tooth.
@@31animafanbro, you just blew my mind 🤯
@benzaiten933 Chocolate bars have extremely long shelf life without spoilage. We still have chocolate bars left from WW2 that are edible, though admittedly very dry to the palate.
@@31animafan Wonka being part fey would explain so so much
@@RachMonPhoebswhen I was in grade school I was a Star Trek TNG fan and they were selling Star Trek: Generations chocolate bars. I bought 5 and considered them too valuable to eat for some reason. I wrapped them in paper and then in duct tape and put them in my drawer. Several years later I opened one to see they had completely crumbled to powder.
You know, that scene where they were in the chocolate vat, swam in chocolate, but then gave all the chocolate to the people. All of that chocolate was contaminated by them, thus began his constant health and safety violations.
That's not chocolate Charlie...
Maybe that's the reason no one went inside his factory for years.
Gotta respect the film for respecting the lore of Willy Wonka's complete disregards for OSHA
Ahh yes, my favorite song from the original: “you’ll fall in, burn your skin, in a woooooorld of safety violations”
@@elizabeth2818 from Michael Bolton’s cover of “Pure Imagination”. 🤣
There was a full circle moment, when Wonka lost his last coin down that street drain. That has to be the coin Charlie Bucket finds, buys one more chocolate candy and finds the golden ticket.
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Truly, Charlie had the best luck in the universe.
Holy hell, good catch
@@satsujin-shathewitchkingof6185I saw that too, and I thought the movie would do something to hint at it by the end. But no, it's just...there.
@@JustJustin. it would be difficult to hint at without just having a Charlie Bucket character find the coin in the drain. That might’ve got too confusing if they were planning to do a sequel that also happens prior to the original story
They kept the location of Charlie's home and the factory obscure in the original, even adding in contradictory details so it couldn't definitely be placed in any location
Yeah I love how it was located in Germany/England/the USA all at the same time.
I always thought the Chocolate Factory was in London, England, and never thought it was ambiguous. But, it sounds like they did the same thing The Simpsons did with Springfield, which has an unclear location somewhere in the US.
Yeah, wasn't the whole point of the book that a child could imagine this amazing, magical place and not just have it be this real, definable place.
Charlie doesn't want candy crazed spoiled Wonka fans knowing where he lives.
@@MatthewTheWanderer You misspelled "nuclear location", and it's pronounced "nu-cular"!
“He froze to death on that bench didn’t he!?” Hey this isn’t Film Theory! Well… I suppose it could be now.
Ouch :(
There's a term for that: "Unreliable narrator."
it's 'Harry potter never left the cupboard' all over again
If everything after the bench is a fever dream on the way to the afterlife, does that mean Charlie is the Grim Reaper?
I like that there’s a generation of kids who are going to one day realize this was their introduction to movies about the drug trade and a first lesson about how the state will inflict violence to serve the interests of business.
I'll remember this comment.
Oompa Loompa Doopety Doo! I've got an honest trailer for you!
Oompa Loompa Doopety Dee! Its another pile of crap that I wont see.....
Lol
@@consciouskenya Thank you
Oompa, Loompa, Doopety Dee’s! If you are wise, watch the Screen Junkies!
@@joyunicycle Here the movies were both haunting and fun! But Warners Bros needed to make another one!
Honestly, I would argue that Wonka’s experiences with the Candy Cartel and the inn probably helped wisen him up. Like, his sense of whimsy never left and he knows there’s good people in the world, but seeing the level that some people went to screw others over for their own benefit probably helped make him get a little more cynical of certain individuals (plus, you know, people sending spies to his factory to steal his recipes probably didn’t help).
Exactly
Three Twix Mafia!
In your epic voice, please say "I require the milk of a giraffe." I was surprised this is an actual line in a movie. Then again, it's totally the kind of thing Wonka would say.😂 Timothee Chalamet actually did a decent job in my opinion.
I know right.
It really is.
Timothee Chalemet is a go go dancer's name...
It was the most unexpectedly sweet, whimsical, and delightful pick-me-up that I've seen since before 2020, and it brightened my dark, cloudy winter wonderfully.
Wasn't expecting much but I ended up liking it actually and even got quite emotional at the end.
I cried happy when he reunited Noodle with her long lost mother. 🥲
This and the paddington movies are so good. The have heart and are charming and fun
"where candy gets you turnt" 😂
I LOL'd at that line too. Haha
Paddington with a blockbuster budget is the cure for the soul we never knew we needed.
With a wonderful soundtrack from Nick Urata, the lead singer of the wonderful indie band Devotchka!!!!!
Because we didn't need it.
There's a ton of stuff we don't _need_ but still greatly appreciate having.
@@Connor-ONeillWell said!
That's at least the third week in a row where the Honest Trailer guy quotes Bluey. Speaking of which, please say, "I'm not taking advice from a cartoon dog."
My favorite reference was Hugh Grant saying "I said Good Day!"
For Carl Weathers, please say, “Man, I won! But I didn't beat him!”
For me the best Creed lines were in Rocky III. Be MORE man than him! There is no tomorrow! And many more.
Now you got a stew going
@@connorj.dunckel4223Lol! I feel you.
1:34-1:45 The Timothee Chalamet prequel I never asked for, but kind of love anyway for proving how far he's come. 😅
When I read your comment, I heard it in Honest Trailer Guy's voice in my head.
Now if we can get back to Arrakis and tripping out on spice that would be great.
Down the drain?
@@damac5136 I mean his movie made 600 mil so whatever make you happy lol
I actually adore the music of this film. I've been playing it since leaving the movie theater.
Me, too.
They’re adorable, but admittedly forgettable.
Three Twix Mafia killed me 😂
The message Wonka got left by his mother is sweet and all but why didn't she teach him how to read it?
I hadn't even thought about that! 😂🥲 Kind of useless that way
it was probably on her list, but then she died.
How did he even get by in the world for 7 years (let alone 1) being that illiterate?
He probably had a bit of teaching but didn't practice or continue during the 7 years because it would bring sad memories of his mom.
Say : "So quiet up and listen down....no, scratch that, reverse it!"
this movie was actually incredible. I nearly teared up at the very beginning bc of the notes to pure imagination
Agreed
so you cried to the original score, not because this new movie was good
@@teresitaperegrina3741 I cried bc of how the original score was used and honored in the movie
@@jamesnelson6656 right, that's nostalgia, which movies have been relying on for the past 10 years to sell tickets. Though tbh, this movie was one of the LESS obnoxious ones.
@@JustJustin. It's not nostalgia. It uses it to tie in the emotional impact and weight tied to the instrumental theme and honor it
I think we were all caught off guard by how good this ended up being
Agreed
Love the "creep show" line despite him being one of like 5 Peep Show actors in this 😂
You forgot the reference at the beginning of the film where he is going down a staircase and goes back two steps just like Willy did in the first film!
The possibly imaginary city of New Norway France Great Britain York actually had the ideal climate to make perfectly magical chocolate and tiny horses.
"If the first song was in Wonka's mind, how can we trust anything else we see?" Gene Wilder's somersault at the start of his film, was his idea, so that the audience knew they couldn't trust a thing he did or said. I really loved this film. :)
Please say “Who abandoned Snoopy in the vestibule?!”
I actually love this movie like so much
So did I
I surprisingly loved this movie. I loved the angle with which they approached the story
Agreed
Are you kidding about the songs? My family has been singing them non stop for weeks 😂 Sweet tooth and A World of Your Own are the best, but I have a soft spot for scrub scrub 😂
Noodle Noodle, Apple Strudel, Singing this song will improve your mood-el
You naild it with *Mr. Cocoa Bean* hahahah
I'm sorry, but the songs in Wonka were awesome! I've been singing Scrub Scrub while doing my laundry ever since I saw this in the theatre over a month ago!
The final scene with Fantastic Mr. Fox showing up to talk to Wonka about the Dahl Initiative was crazy!
In (I think) Danny the Champion of the World, he ends up selling a candy recipe to the Willy Wonka factory, the Vernicious Knids were actually introduced in James and the Giant Peach and Willy Wonka fights aliens and goes to other dimensions in Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator
This was an absolutely delightful movie. And sometimes, that's enough.
I had no desire to see this film, but yall actually made it look better then any of the real trailers ive seen for it. Gonna go see it tonight!
It’s great
I hope we get an Honest Trailer Commentary again some day. I miss them!
"You've seen Timmy have his way with sweets before" (shot pans to the peach scene from Call Me By Your Name) - ROTFLMAO
You knew that joke was coming. We all did.
@@jbvader721The joke wasn't the only thing coming in that shot. :whistles innocently:
@@AngelofMusic04 You forgot to put in a *ba dum tss* sound effect.
I saw it on Xmas and had a delightful time!
Week 105 of asking for Honest TV Trailer for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
I suport this!
Yes please
Just for shits and giggles, they do the ONE episode which doesnt even focus on the Mane cast at all. "Slice of Life"
That is cruel making them watch that crap 😝
@@Slippery_Pickle47.3 The show itself is fine. It's cruel making them talk about the fandom
They somehow managed to PERFECTLY capture the wholesome whimsy and slight darkness of a Roald Dahl novel. Getting the Paddington director to do this movie was fucking genius. Also it's hilarious that the movie people expected would ruin the Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp movies ended up feeling closer to the original novel than both of them combined.
b while most people prefer the gene Wilder movie they do know it's not really loyal to the source material. They just find it to be an improvement anyway.
The Johhny Depp movie is closer to the novel since the author iirc worked / was consulted for the movie, what are you even eating there? Raw spoiled cocoa? LOL if you think that Wonka is closer to the novels than the Depp movie :))))))
Not going to lie the Scrub Scrub song is still stuck in my head, and I watched this over a month ago.
If you haven't, please do a trailer for all the low quality Disney direct to video sequels from the 90s
I actually quite liked A World of Your Own.
That song is already one of my new favorite Willy Wonka songs.
Same here!
Agreed
Making an honest trailer for the movie "Nobody" is super easy, barely an inconvenience. You guys should do it!
Dexter commenting on an Honest Trailer in Ryan George references is too much for my brain.
Yeahyeahyeah!
Hey, shut up. :)
Starring: Saul Badman
Do Bluey! This is the 3rd week in a row Honest Voice Guy has done a Bluey quote at the end.
5:54 That's a bluey reference and now I need to see the Honest TV trailer for Bluey
Will you guys do the Percy Jackson show next week, please??
They didn't tackle the movies
@@AmethystOrlando Wow, really? Not even the first one?
Over $100 mil on 4 hours of kids going to a new scene where nothing exciting happens and then in the next scene they are somewhere else.
Hell yeah!
Since when has something like that stop an Honest Trailer from being made?
My favorite line was 4:50 “God forbid we try something *gags* original” 😂😂😂😂😂
It's impressive they were even able to conjure a sort of working concept of what a Wonka prequel story could be about.
I watched this with my 11 year old cousin who has learning disabilities. It was actually really sweet when Wonka admits he can't read and my cousin emphatically shouts "me too!" in the middle of the theatre.
Please say "all glory to the hypnotoad" in your epic voice
Thank you!!
THE LINES ABOUT THE CHOCOLATE ARE SO FUNNY OUT OF CONTEXT I LAUGHED
Another great HT! Hope you all are well and hope to see commentaries again soon! ✌️
Please say “Baby you got a Steeeeew going on” in the epic voice
03:39 The one-octave noodle thing killed me 😂😭😂😭😂😭
Make an Honest Trailer for this year’s Best Picture nominees
That'll be closer to Oscar night which is in March.
“FANTASTIC TREATS & HOW TO MAKE THEM”! That should’ve been the honest title for this movie! 😂
There are so many details in this movie that I want to write my own personal fanfiction which is just the Charlie story with the elements sprinkled in from this very film
That Peter Cullen Impression was effing Amazing Epic Voice Guy!!!!!!
We need a Bojack Horseman Honest Trailer. You can start by saying "My mom died and all I got was this free churro"
And everything is worse now /:
Thank you for putting my suggestion in at the end! That means so much to me!
Lol but we all love Timmy and his origins
0:08 I prefer the Tim Burton's version.
So do I. It's more imaginative, closer to the book, and no 'Cheer up Charlie' in ear shot.
I don't I prefer this one the 2005 one is very weird
Please do an honest trailer for the movie "Machete".
"Even in our fantasies, we can't imagine an affordable city." Painfully funny.
The songs are so good and are still stuck in my head
"I have been rewatching the Wire, why do you ask?"
Okay, "Chocolate Salty Brawls" got me, here's your star.
I loved this prequel. It is much better than it would have been if we just got a newer adaptation of the story. It really was enjoyable. It felt like a love letter to the original movie back in 1971. I also liked the music in this movie
I feel like no one has commented on the lack of commentaries I miss them terribly are they gone for good?
I came here looking for any kind of news on what happened. 😭
Ditto! What happened to Commentaries? Please bring it back!
Can we get an Honest Trailer for _Echo,_ please?
By all means
I hope they tear it to shreds, lol
...we get an Honest Trailer for _Echo_ , please?
@@EmperorSeth ...get an Honest Trailer for _Echo_ , please?
Please do an honest trailer for TMNT Mutant Mayhem! It didn’t deserve to be snubbed at the Oscars!
HONEST TRAILER of BLUEY (And I want to be in the intro)
Oooooof. I didn't know it was like that. Also didn't know Timmy used to rap.
The movie was actually great
Please do an Honest Trailer for Hazbin Hotel Season 1
Yesss pls
Say "Gus, don't be exactly half of an eleven-pound black forest ham."
Shawn!
Dare you to do a fake trailer that at first seems like its for the upcoming "Snow White" film, but is actually for the really good "Mirror, Mirror" (2012) film - kind of what you did for the "Reefer Madness" / "The Big Lebowski" films
Y'all worked hard for the thumbs up including Stats rap footage and tiny horse!! Well played.
In your Epic voice, Please say: "Nah, I'd Win"
You gotta do a Hazbin Hotel trailer. The sheer number of bleeps alone will make it hilarious.
That would definitely be a f*** ton of bleeps lol
It was a really fun watch though. I hadn’t seen a fantastical and wholesome movie from Hollywood for a while. The chocoholic priest was also hilarious😄
Perhaps never have I been less interested in a film. If it disappeared from existence two minutes from now I literally couldn't care less.
"forget everything you know about Willy Wonka, especially the stuff that made him interesting" outch 😂
madness? THIS! IS! HALLWEEN!!!
lol you had me there not gonna lie
Wonka was a truly fantastic movie and was fun, emotional and heartfelt. And my family and I enjoyed it immensely. I really hope they make a sequel or do something with Charlie and the Glass Elevator.
This actually made me want to see it
Please being back Honest Trailer Commentaries
Why did they stop?
So we not doing Honest Trailer Commentaries anymore?
say: Wonka is the mega blockbuster hit movie, where they showed the world, it's best to leave origin stories a mystery
Space Ice FTW
Something to chill and share a few smiles. Well done.
5:12 Hey wait he read "Candy" when the screen said "Comedy"
Do Beekeeper next!
In honor of Carl Weathers please say: "You got the eye of the tiger"
The whole origin story is a Jacob's Ladder scenario, which then means the original is also just the last brain chemistry dream of a man freezing to death.
Do the news. Like, just the regular news. I wanna see an honest trailer for what’s going on locally in puff piece city!
3:31, wrong sir. Wrong.
I love how he sorta starts the review like “It was wholesome! Get over it!” And that’s how I felt watching it. I actually loved it. It was charming and fun and entertaining. It also had a lot of lol moments. It was just harmless, wholesome entertainment, and one of the most enjoyable movie experiences for me in the past couple of years.
Feel the same about joker. Some origins aren’t meant to be told
