  • The Netflix show is much better than I thought it would be. But I agree that there is room for improvement. When they're breaking down seasons 2 and 3, the writers need to focus on what is essential to the overall story. Then they can keep things on track. I didn't need to see Cabbage Man, or the Secret Tunnel singers in the live action version. Those were funny moments in the anime, but if I want to see them again I can go back and watch the original. The live action version needs to bring things to life. A good example of this in Netflix's show was the flashback that showed how Zuko got his scar. That hit so hard, I was in tears. The showrunners need to let the actors show some real human emotion---especially the boy playing Aang. I think he'd be great if he stopped trying to sound wise, and just acted like a kid (a kid who's learning how to be the Avatar).

  • i think they need to build the characters more, since everything is going so fast they haven’t taken a chance to sit back for a second and give us a reason to like the characters like they did in the cartoon

    • I think the character they've done the most justice to is Zuko. He seemed to get the most depth and development in season one. Very curious to see what they do with Toph

  • I think the dialogs between the charackters could be more realistic because often they just say simple phrases to eachother and then act like super touched by that.

  • The fight scenes were awesome..along with the costumes and the backgrounds and the CGI. Just wanted to point what Netflix got right instead of just bashing it the entire time as if it was all bad.

  • I felt like there were some great heartfelt scenes in there. And others were just too blant. The characters need character development. And I cannot understand why they cut their iconic stuff so much. Like Aangs playfulness. He is waaay more accepting of his role than he was in the animated show. Iroh does not give that much wisdom and his tea addiction isn't as severe here. Zuko never said "honor" one time. It felt okayish but these are also fan moments that should not be cut. Sokka has another motivation that was fished out of thin air with the dad not accepting him as a fighter but could be told so it becomes something powerful ( be a good leader without relying on talent but more on knowledge and ingenuity ). His interaction with Suki was way too blant and the sexism he had should have been a part of him. It may not be to everyones liking in the beginning but that's how you write nuanced characters. Let them have flaws and redeem themselves. Most of the characters did not choose wrongly. Aang running away was because he felt he didn't want this burden. This was accepted by him already in a few episodes where he tried to fill out the role. I feel like that they crammed too much in there becaaause they maybe felt like this would never get a second season as it is not clear in the beginning of production. Like storywise the world felt a lot smaller as we didn't get context of the world. Like how big it is and the 100 year war in its grandness. There was a single epic fight in the southern air temple but that did feel like it was right after Aang left the temple. Zuko felt the strongest for me as a character in the live action. Katara has nothing for her sadly. She got the waterbender master title like nothing. And the other thing was. Aang never used waterbending once. Why?

    • I agree with you! I think they definitely brought in some elements from later in the show to try to win over people more. It's definitely missing a lot of the nuance and doesn't give many of the characters room to grow. The original show also improved with each season so hopefully that is the case here

  • I mostly agree with you. I enjoyed this show, but a lot of things are meh and some even bad. I think with the better writing of the general plot and better dialogs, it can become a great show. I'm kind of excited about future seasons because I believe it has potential, and the cast is nice

    • Better writing could also improve the show a lot! I do kinda address it with the show don't tell part. A lot of the dialogue in this season was dedicated to exposition which made it more awkward. I do think the show can still be saved though

  • Awesome and clean video. Nice work! I almost agree with you but I totally understand the circumstances they had. Maybe if more people watch the first season the budget will be higher for the next ones. The bending was pretty good tho I think.

    • I agree the action and bending were some of the best things about it! I believe this show had a similar budget to One Piece so I feel like it does come down to better planning and direction. I had no doubt this show would get a lot of viewers, just from the Avatar fans alone

    • @@ChrisCherrie oh that’s true! Good perspective. But animation and live action are pretty different. But the direction in the live action does need improvement.

  • aside from doing right what season one did wrong something else i want seasons 2 and 3 of netflix atla to do is to skip the appa's lost days episode that was one of my least favorite episodes of the OG cartoon idk if i can put up with it again

    • That's a very hot take but I understand lol. They probably are gonna shorten it but I don't they think they would remove it completely since it was such a big part of season 2 in the original

    • @@ChrisCherrie hot take? hard to believe appas lost days is a fan favorite episode! people enjoy the feeling of misery?

      @17jacoyne@17jacoyne2 ай бұрын
    • Everyone agrees it is one of the saddest episodes of the series but that also makes it one of the best. If they can show the Air nomads getting wiped out, I don't think showing what Appa went through during that time is crazy

    • @@ChrisCherrie still dont understand how an episode that arouses negative feelings in people would be considered the best

      @17jacoyne@17jacoyne2 ай бұрын
    • Looking at it from a story-telling standpoint, the fact they were able to get such an extreme reaction means they did something right. If it was not executed well, people wouldn't have cared. Look at Oppenheimer that just won Best Picture. It's a very heavy movie but many people consider it to be one of the best movies of last year. Sad stories can still be great stories
