The biggest success of the movie was giving Godzilla and especially Kong all that personality. The facial animation was fantastic and you could actually tell what they where both thinking most of the time. Huge props to the performers, animators and the directors for that. The fights would not of been nearly as good without it.
Everyone bashed the human scenes but I’m happy they gave the titans justice tbh they deserve it plus it gives us so much perspective
only thing im not happy with is they didnt give godzilla more screen time in the beginning

@@wzero07 It's because that was the direction the filmmakers were aiming for. They don't want to ruin Godzilla nor Kong in this film so obviously they needed to make them look good until the end. That's why the film established the fact that Kong is now the king of Hollow Earth while Godzilla is the king of the surface world. Both alphas now have their own kingdoms. Neither died in the end. Plus imagine this, if one of them lost, do you really think it would be good to continue this monsterverse? What's the point of doing a future Kong/GZ film if any of them absolutely lost in this film? Sure Kong was dominated by GZ in this film, but at least he was gutsy until the end reason why GZ earned his respect as a fellow co-alpha. Personally, I think what they did was the best for both characters (GZ and Kong) and for the business-side of things as well since they could still continue doing more GZ films and Kong films if people wanted to.
My favorite moment was when Godzilla did a perfect "pathetic" scoff at king kong right before he was gonna leave
No one mentions the fact that kong's ancestors built a castle with its throne and even put some light decorations

I love the fact they even made a Ghidorah sized statue of a 'Kong'. These creatures were like Bronze age of technology and no one bat's and eyelid at it.
In the novels it is stated Titanus Kong had human worshippers who helped build that temple; they’re called Eiwe. Kong’s species protected these humans who also lived in the Hollow Earth. The same is true for the Gojira. Different tribes that warred with the titans. But yes it’s super cool

@@MECHFILMS_ no he did not. He almost died. But he would’ve died not giving the satisfaction of recognizing someone else as alpha. The movie was awesome. I honestly didn’t care who won the fight cuz I love both monsters and wanted to see them ultimately team up and they did. I was one happy customer. I hope it continues to do financially good that way legendary and Warner Bros are motivated to make some more movies or even shows. I know the Godzilla rights reverted back to ToHo after this film but ToHo has said they’re more than open to extending the deal and allowing more Monsterverse movies to be made with their characters. It’s up to Legendary to decide if they want to do it or not. I personally hope we get a combo of television series and movies. The television stuff I’d even be ok with it being animation. As long as it’s the good animation and not kids cartoon animation. They can make it in universe cannon and use monsters like Mothra and Rodan again. Others like Behemoth and Methuselah. The ones that wouldn’t do as well in a film but are also fan favorites. Then save the big guys like Godzilla and Kong for the big screen.

How does no one even notice or mentions when Kong was hanging on top of the building in Hong Kong, it's literally a callback to his own past films when he's on top of the empire state building rather from 1933 or the Peter Jackson one, like thats one of Kongs most famous scenes.
And at a point in the hong kong fight godzilla bends forwards like a t rex and kong tries to Break his jaw like he did to the vastatosaurus rex in Peter Jacksons king kong.
We gonna ignore the fact that Godzilla literally laughs at Kong

Love how you can tell that Godzilla is older than Kong by the way they fight. Kong wasn't quite ready to fight the titan yet but still did a good job for being younger hahahah
Yeah Battle experience was the main decisive factor between them. Godzilla fought Kongs before so he knows what to expect, while king Kong never fought titans in his life (besides camazotz), only skull island creatures
I'm glad that even though Godzilla won the fight between him and Kong, He still shows respect for kong at the end and doesn't kill him and just leaves

It’s the final stare down between the two that does it. Kong lost the fight but never submitted to Godzilla. “We can do this again any time, any place, mother fucker” “I’ll be waiting”
I loved that they had personality, Godzilla laughing at Kong when his back was on fire was priceless

Another fun detail is when Ghidorah head uses its iconic blue electricity to kill the human pilot and takeover.
I saw the ending as Godzilla and Kong sort of having earned each other's mutual respect; Kong having helped Godzilla showed Kong's change of heart and Godzilla accepted that, not as them still hating each other, but either way it's a really awesome moment
I want to know how Kong's ancestors were able to carve a perfect giant gorilla statue that is seen when he first enters the throne room place.

In some "hollow earth" lore, Giant humans lived in the hollow earth and even had a form of technology. That's really the only thing I can think of... So, my money would be on that.
I love how the entire throne room is symmetrical with arches and a perfect rectangular door but the axe looks like really bad arts and crafts

Kong's weight was actually correct. It was based on his height from the first film which was 104 ft and not his current height which is well over 300.

Yea...side quest and yea he took out the big monkey...but big monkey saved his life in the end cause big robot was using him like a big scaley wrecking ball and Godzilla was about to get his insides cooked... Kinda like cooking a marshmallow...with a flamethrower. So I'd say that Kong took the controller and beat the game for him. Legend is a bit of a stretch all things considered
I really hope we get a third movie that explores the hollow earth more. It's the most interesting thing about the movie after the monster fights of course.

It’s funny how when Ghidorah takes over it’s actually Kevin and people think that Kevin was just the dopey head but we’ve seen how Mechagodzilla fights which means Kevin was just as dangerous as the other two heads

The size difference confused me so much, while sitting on the boat kong looked so small, and then suddenly he matches Godzilla in height, my head hurts thinking about it

it never matches his height apes always walk in a lower stance and only stand straight when they are going to fight and also the ratio of his lower body to his upper body is 1:1.5 so he will look 35 m tall while sitting that is 1/11 height of the empire state building

Did you guys miss that when Kong puts down the axe to charge it, many of the dorsal plates on the Godzilla in the ground are actually axes? So there's not just one axe, there are several. Also when we see the crab like things in hollow earth there is an animal eating them, an animal that looks like a baby Godzilla.
I feel like you missed one, when kong rips out mechagodzilla head it also rips out his spine like how the predator does it in his movies

Nah, he told kong to bow down but kong didn’t want to do Godzilla respected that and spared him.
It’s pretty obvious for me, he sensed Mechagodzilla/Ghidora head’s aura. That’s why he went to Hong Kong but then felt the hammer presence scale so he drilled down there- almost like Godzilla felt disrespected or bothered by it xd. Godzilla’s true intentions were to destroy what he sensed because it was a threat to the world.

3 missed Easter eggs 1. Mothra is seen alongside Godzilla in the opening credits 2. Sub level 33 is most likely a reference to the first King Kong movie being released in 1933 3. You can hear Ghidorahs roar when Mechagodzilla is being activated signifying him taking over, and Ghidorahs roar is also in some of Mechagodzilla roars

In 14:50 , a small detail that i found is that the glow of godzilla's atomic breath glows so bright that you can see his ribcage on his chest.
Ever wonder why Kong got a burnt face at the end when Mechagodzilla did not even shoot the laser at him? It is because his face was too close when Godzilla charged up his axe.
His face wasn’t burnt. It was oil splatter from when Kong cut off Mechagodzilla’s arm with the axe.

I think it would be a logical point to do a Monsterverse version of KING KONG next...And then finish the six film Monsterverse series with an absolutely epic version of DESTROY ALL MONSTERS...

I seen the movie 3x and know one brings up how there was more than one axe when kong placed his down to charge. It’s prolly not that big but if you ask me imagine if king had two of them bitches.
This also indicate the tribe of kongs didn’t just have one person with an axe, they were fully strapped for war.

I was most impressed by the ancient structures in kongs domain that are constructed too perfectly to have been done by the kongs or other monstrous creatures. It makes me wonder who or what actually built the structures.
When watching this with my son, I joked that it's a pity Kong hadn't seen Lethal Weapon 2. Imagine my joyous surprise when he popped it back in using the same method. Loved this film.

i knew it would be a good movie because they showed kong right from the beginning, and even godzilla was shown very quickly. otherwise the older movies always just played out the other human actors until you got to properly see godzilla or kong. and even till the end, the scenes with godzilla were very few. a movie about kong or godzilla should have more of their scenes. i loved it!
I think the chime noise used for the eye of Mecha Godzilla is the same pulse noise used in the ORCA from King of Monsters. Hence why Godzilla was able to sense where the pieces of Mecha Godzilla

The amount of happiness I felt when Godzilla clapped Kong in a fight 2 times.
He clapped Kong only throughout the last like 20 secs of the entire 5 min long fight lol.

@@gwstreams Like I mentioned, the first fight was unfair for Kong. Yet he still managed to hold Godzilla's arms with his insane grip strength and headbutted him so hard he was sent reeling. And throughout the entire Hong Kong fight, Godzilla only truly managed to overpower Kong in the last 20 secs when he broke his arm. Up until that point, Kong was the one dominating the fight. So no, Godzilla didn't wipe the floor with Kong and Kong actually could have beaten Godzilla with the axe.
14:14 I knew it. The first time I saw the axe, I really thought that it looks like a Godzilla fin, so it might probably came from a dead Godzilla eons ago that was improvised and used by Kong's ancestors as an axe.

If u think about it the movie "journey to the center of the earth" can be in the same universe at the monsterverse. And the sequel "journey to the mysterious island" is a similar island like skull Island(how it has strange giant monsters on it)🤔😀
I think that "imprint" is supposed to be an actual skull and spine, which is why the axe fits into it and charges. Note that the axe glows when it is put in the ground to complete the skeleton and the entire thing lights up, not just the axe, so the skull should be bone too. Now, if this is the case, that Godzilla was waaaaay bigger than the movie's Godzilla, that skull is like half the size of Kong in that shot. Probably took a bunch of "Kongs" to bring that thing down. Also, there are other axes on the ground when Kong puts his down there... maybe they used this mega Godzilla to make their weapons?

My favourite bit is were Godzilla wakes for the 3rd round in pure BEAST MODE and starts biting, scratching and tearing into Kong before planting his foot on his chest and basically screaming at him to submit. This film made Godzilla into the true king he is.
I saw this yesterday with my grandfather who took me to see Godzilla (2014),Kong Skull island, and Godzilla King of Monsters, so this was a good conclusion to these movies that we have watched together over 7 to 8 years. He also showed us the older Godzilla movies. Over the course of the movie my brother and I were theorizing left and right. I also called days before that Godzilla and Kong would team up to fight Mechanical Godzilla (because if you kill Godzilla/ Kong off, fans would get mad and give the movie bad reviews). One thing that I am iffy about: Kong’s axe thingy (the pointy part) looks like the spike on Godzilla’s back. I also thought that because when he put it in the ground, it resembled Godzilla. I know that they stated that Godzilla’s kind was dead, but I would have really loved to see the son of Godzilla walking around the hollow earth as an after credits scene.

Would like to mention that this isn't the first Mechagodzilla to use the bones of a downed Kiju, nor is it the first to turn on his creators. Kiryu, the mecha from 2002's Godzilla against Mechagodzilla, contained the bones of of 1954's Godzilla. Kiryu also went similarly rouge when encountered with millennium Godzilla's roar.

To be honest...he could've. Earlier in the fight, the pre-charged axe torn into Godzilla's leg and if it hadn't overcharged from Godzilla's atomic breath, it likely would've finished Godzilla or kept a very permanent scar on the top of his head.
