Godzilla on 4 legs definitely gave angry vibes and those scratches and ruthless blows he lands on Kong does show his hatred towards the Kong species. Monsterverse is short yet massive and it's still expanding.

Actually the Kong species were becoming like humans and they were enslaving other Titans, and so Godzilla killed a lot of them and banished the rest. By Kong leaving he broke some sort of thingy that pissed of Godzilla.

No, Godzilla was already awake according to Godzilla dominion, circling the globe to make sure the other Titans were where they should be and dormant or whatever. Also some of the other titans were fighting (Behemoth and some other titan) and Godzilla essentially broke that up. Also Scylla challenged Godzilla to a fight. Godzilla went for Kong while trying to find MechaGodzilla.

I like to imagine that the Kong that managed to beat Godzilla way back when and claim that lair for himself sorta instilled a kind of life lesson in Godzilla to keep himself strong and vigilant, ultimately preparing him for the arrival of the only thing worse than his species, the Kong species, or even the MUTOs: King Ghidorah.
This is my headcanon now.

That panel in Dominion really left a lot of questions, especially concerning if this Kong was bigger than Godzilla. That, and it really emphasized on how Godzilla perceives his battles, always staying vigilant.

Yo, that beefs up the context of Godzilla's anger to Kong aside Ghidorah's revival. Being weaker and less experienced back millions of years before, it would makes sense he'd be somewhat easily bested by a Titanus Kong, an opponent who primarily uses more brain than brawn unlike most others Titans. He's forced to go into a hibernation of recovery after the loss, the memory of utter defeat stretched throughout that healing process, and as time passes and his rest is done what does he find? The Kong that defeated him passed away, robbing Big G the chance of payback. Not only that, it left him with the knowledge that this Kong lived its life with the satisfaction of beating HIM. I can imagine the bruise on his rep could only go further, if he found that Kong might've informed others of its triumph. If that doesn't insight one helluva itchy grudge, then idk what does.

It's more or less insinuated in the Godzilla: Dominion comic; Delving into Big G's perspective and thoughts, including that he has encountered Kong's kind before. It wasn't exactly a good first impression XD
It was a different Godzilla as I think confirmed by either wingard or the author. This same weak godzilla (forgot his name) came back to kill said kong. Edit:Nevermind it was tiamat that killed that kong, but the Godzilla being weaker (likely to be dagon) is right. I suggest people to read it if anyone is curious as to why and how kongs got into skull island (The godzilla family drove them out and secluded them) I would argue the KOng that Godzilla faced is far stronger than that kong specifically since Kong was actually fighting a stronger Godzilla who was not yet at his full potential or fraction of his full power, along with the fact the atomic breat kinda drained him of his atomic energy necessary and he held back, but despite that the fact kong held his own against that Current Godzilla, means he has to be at least the strongest of his own species as of currently.

I like that the end of the movie, and basically the end of the war, was with Godzilla and Kong both acknowledging each other as equals, and understanding what they both want. Godzilla wanted to keep his crown, and the balance and peace safe. While Kong didn't care about power or control, he just wanted to live his life and protect those he deemed his friends. It would be nice to see Godzilla visit Kong in the Hollow Earth or for them to interact again in a civil manner. Godzilla may be stronger than Kong, but I think it's safe to say that Godzilla needs Kong, and Kong needs Godzilla, allies and possibly friends till time claims them both.

Interestingly enough, this Kong had black fur covering its body. Dude's probably very old and middle-aged or is just a fully-grown but very old Kong that's had more experience in handling Titans AND the other alpha species, the Gojiras. This Kong might just have different fur color than the other's tho just like Kong's father and Kong's mother for instance. It's probably a common thing in the species.

Even the movie implies it and one of the biggest hint for Godzillas atomic breath originating from the hollow earth was that one short lcip of when Kong charged the axe and the hollow earths energy source and radiation started lighting up, Godzilla himself sensed it and drew out his ultimate atomic breath into the center of the earth.
Kinda goes to show you what experience can do in the long run. Kong despite having little experience of the outside world gave Godzilla a run for his money. Big boy Ancient kong beat Godzilla without a weapon it seems.

I liked how the grudge that these two shared make for some great fighting and how they were able to resolve their problems without killing each other off. Maybe they will be on the same team again in a future film.
I honestly really like this. I view both the Godzilla and Kong and their species as equals. One has just as much of a chance to beat the other in battle. It also expands the lore and makes the Titan war so much more interesting. I really want to know more about what happened between both species back then, I especially want to learn more about this ancient and powerful Kong.

MonsterVerse Godzilla's Relationship with Kong: despite Kong being a protector, Godzilla and kong where ancient rivals due to there ancestors battling in an ancient war. When Kong was sent to hollow earth to seek for something to defeat Godzilla before he does more harm (despite Godzilla was only destroying apex because he senses the presence of Ghidorah), they first fought on the ship near the ocean when Godzilla thought kong is teaming up with apex. after their first fight, Godzilla leaves when he thinks kong lost, but they fight again in Hong Kong. Kong gained the upper hand and beats Godzilla using an ancient axe with a dorsal fin of Godzilla’s ancestor as the blade, but Godzilla defeats Kong using his own animal instincts (by walking on all 4s like a crocodile). Godzilla roars at Kong to submit, but Kong lets out a roar of his own, showing he won’t submit to Godzilla, thus earning the king of the monsters’ respect. Godzilla continues his hunt for Ghidorah, but is too late to stop apex from awakening the fallen one who is many’s consciousness, which takes control of MechaGodzilla. after Godzilla was nearly killed by MechaGodzilla, Kong decided to save him when he realized that he and Godzilla have one thing in common: they both want to protect the humans and stop apex. after they team up Godzilla used his atomic breath on the axe and allowed kong to defeat MechaGodzilla/Ghidorah. after that, Kong drops his axe as a sign of peace, ending the feud between him and Godzilla once and for all. Godzilla roars at Kong in acknowledgment and returns to the sea, while Kong returns to the hollow earth.

Even if the next movie is Son of Kong, I hope they at least have a flashback sequence to the ancient Godzilla vs Kong war. Doesn’t have to be that long but it would give some good insight and history kinda like the first Darkseid invasion in Justice League.
I think it’s interesting how Kong’s species were the most intelligent of the Titans and they were able to do all that, but they, most likely, got careless. It was really cool with that bit of history between Goji and Kong.

Guys I love both Gman and ol Kboi but after ghidorahs battle G was tired and distracted by mecha. He didn't get enough rest ti heal. Also Kong didn't have any serious fights so he was very fresh in this battle but he lacked the proper battle experience to actually battle the Gman properly. Next movie in the franchise, let's hope we get a rematch of the 2 Titans when both of them are equally matched, G rested Kong more experienced.

I love how this shows that Kongs species, can easily fight and kill Godzilla’s species. The Monsterverse made Kong WEAK AF in Godzilla Vs Kong. He wasn’t the same height/size. they took away his superior strength, cause he should’ve easily broken out of his chains on the ship and lift and throw Godzilla. And he never aimed for Godzilla’s gills, which are his #1 weakness like what they showed with the MUTOS. The Titans that KILLED GODZILLAS KIND.
Not to mention that, as far as we know, Godzilla was fully grown (seeing as he also managed to beat Ghidorah with Mothra’s help in the ancient past) and this Kong didn’t even use an axe.

I have a working theory that in what the Kong species lacks in longevity, they make up for in sheer power. That the older they get, the more powerful they become. And that the older Kongs unlock abilities such as Bio-Electricity, or fire resistance. Making them worthy foes to even the biggest of Gojira.

I think the size of the Godzilla skull that Kong pulled the axe from is an indicator that both Godzilla and Kong's species were significantly bigger than they are now. That skull was much larger than Godzilla's head now. I'm thinking the Kong rival that beat Godzilla was older than Godzilla and likely bigger relative to Godzilla than Kong was.

He was experienced and fully grown. he’s at a bare minimum now 250,000,000 years old. He wasn’t weakened at all or any less weak. You’re all just under the impression Godzilla is invincible and can beat anybody and everybody.

I definitely can see a prequel story being done, be it animated as a series or a full on film, it could feature the Gojira/Kong war along with Ghidorah/other Titans fighting too. With ice age being actually caused by another Gojira to stop Ghidorah as last resort maybe. Then we could have a scene leading to events like the muto spores latching onto a fallen Gojira & kongs ancestors climb up from hollow Earth to skull island.

Before they realeased the movie, I've been always a Team GODZILLA for all his arsenals, but after watching the movie I can just Say Kong really do have more than what I knew he had and in fact actually changed my mind on the verdict of their battle. Kong in skull island has shown that he cares for human casualties when brie Larson got knocked down from the Mountain Kong tried to hurry up and kill the thing so he could save her besides that he has shown empathy for other animals like when he saved the water Buffalo and even felt bad when a skull crawler killed him later and in Kingdom Kong he saved another water Buffalo but once again felt bad when he was killed by camazotz bats
the great thing about GvK is how much lore there is without diving into it. I don’t think the throne room was created by the Kongs or by anything on the Earth it looks to advanced for a Titan or Kong to build, especially during Ancient times.
This makes a lot of sense about Godzilla’s rivalry of the Kong species and the cause of the Titan war in the past between the Titanus Gojira and Titanus Kong species. The cave painting in the GKOTM of Godzilla fighting a Kong, might be that Kong that drove off a young Godzilla from his old home in Godzilla Dominion.

Not really. The fight took place thousands upon thousands of years ago, so godzilla would be way smaller than he is today. The way the present day godzilla threw around kong shows that he would be able to beat the ancient kong if he was at full strength
