Don't forget the #1 feature this monitor has over its predecessor: Backlight bleed is no longer an issue. 90% of the old monitors (Odessey G9 2020) had backlight bleed issues and became near unusable because of that. I'm glad they finally got that fixed.
They need to start making ultrawide displays that natively divide the image in three: a center 16:9 or 16:10 image and two outside images with the remainder of the pixels. I would ditch my 3 monitor setup for it.
That's easily possible running nvidia's Control Software and I'm sure it's the same for amd

@@6eorg393 We want virtual monitors within one hardware monitor. Split the screen into different monitors like how we can currently do with applications. It is easier to snap applications into specific shapes if the application thinks it is going fullscreen. Additionally, if you have two different kinds of monitors then you may get different pixel densities that prevent things from ever looking right. Partitioning one big monitor into several virtual monitors wouldn't have this issue (I don't think).

@@PowerofRock24 Yea, but it still takes up too much space. I prefer having one screen anyway
@@jkteddy77 Please tell me what it's like when you use it. I was thinking of playing games at 21:9 on it but I worry that most games will stretch to 32:9 when played at 21:9.
I have the CRG9 (the predecessor to this monitors predecessor) and having lived with a 32:9 aspect ratio for awhile now…it definitely isn’t for everyone. Even something as basic as finding a decent desktop background is a chore. There are also other annoying things like how most in browser video players that don’t know how to handle it effectively (going full screen leaves a whole bunch of blank space on the sides but you can’t multitask in those blank spaces…I basically have to use theatre mode on KZhead instead). You basically need a massive desk because of its foot print or you’ll need to invest a couple hundred dollars in a monitor stand that can support the weight. The monitor will be so heavy that most monitor stands with head tilt functions won’t be able to handle it. Having said that, I love the PBP mode. It basically allows you to treat the monitor like two separate 16:9 27 inch monitors.
I need more of Riley being a Newfouy fisherman in my life.

I love the intro! Keep up the quality tech humor!
as someone who enjoys suffering thru destiny 2, I appreciate seeing it, but id be curious to the reason why some games aside from the usual few (doom/forza) get picked.
The games that often get chosen are there because they are highly optimized while also being good examples of what they do. So it’s the hardware being tested without having to worry about the software being a issue.
Destiny 2 is well optimized for Ultra-wide monitors.

The biggest thing hurting the FALD blooming is the latency. Their TVs do a great job of minimizing bloom when the TV has time to think about it outside of gaming mode. 2000+ zones is great for something that demands the lowest latency possible.
I've got the G9 (Not the Neo reviewed here), and I have HDR turned off. It's pretty bad. The 10 dimming zones basically make it unusable, especially in games that take place in dark areas (Resident Evil Village was especially bad). If I didn't already have the original G9, I'm sure this offers a much better experience. However, I also only paid $1400 for the G9, whereas it looks like this thing is going for $2500. I don't think I'd be able to justify buying this for over $1000 more.
Yeah some people say if you could run this in SDR while also paying for it as of they didn't charge for HDR, then it's a good deal
It's not the monitor I fixed the problem by just disabling that stupid "Vignette" effect I fucking hate it !!
I'm just here happy with my Samsung 19 inch LCD tv as a monitor.
and nothing is wrong with that. 49" is literally over kill. Also who wants to turn their head playing a game that sounds horrible in long game sessions
bah 15" 60hz IPS here
@@Crazyinnova I do, my monitor is 46 inches, I enjoy the large display, and I can afford it

just damn that the only thing i wanted in my G9 and now they did it
Glad I watched this video.....pretty sure I wouldn't of thought to attach the stand to screen prior to removing monitor from box haha
Did some quick math out of curiosity for the dimming zones. The stated screen pixel resolution is 5120 × 1440. The stated number of dimming zones is 2048. For my calculations I assumed the dimming zones are arranged in a rectangular grid, with no zone wasting any potential for pixel backlighting, and each zone serving as a backlight for the same number of pixels, and each zone serving a square shaped area... With those assumptions, each zone would serve 3600 pixels, which is a square of 60 pixels wide. The dimming zones would be arranged in a grid of ~85.333 × 24 zones. Obviously, you can't have factional dimming zones, so something in my assumptions must be wrong. I think it's likely that the dimming zones are arranged in a hexagonal grid, serving non-square regions of pixels, not serving the same number of pixels, or some combination of these. I think the zones boarder the edges of the screen are most likely to be serving a different number of pixels as those not boardering the edge. I also think the grid could be arranged like hexagons, which might be a more effective use of the comparatively limited number of zones. (Though, that would probably be a headache for the firmware designer to figure out.) I don't think the dimming zones would serve a non-square area, as in, having an pixel area with an aspect ratio other than 1:1. But it's still a possibility. There is plenty of president for non-square aspect ratios for display pixels in other image technologies, like components of image file formats. But I don't think it would look great for dimming zones. It would probably result in noticeable stripes of bright/dark areas, unless there use a light filtering layer that spreads the light in one direction more than another, by just the right amount. That's about it... I hope someone found it interesting or useful. Sorry, I don't feel like taking the time to figure out the exact dimensions of a hexagonal grid of dimming zones. Especially for something I'm very unlikely to buy. (Edit: I misheard the number of dimming zones as 1048 the first time. It's actually 2048. Everything past this point is the old version. I left it in for laughs. Not much is different though.) -------- Did some quick math out od curiosity for the dimming zones. The stated screen pixel resolution is 5120 × 1440. Honestly didn’t read past the first few paragraphs. However consider on symmetrical dimming zones.
Totally
I totally understand what you’re saying
I love that he says quick math
Thanks for that! I also love that you say you don't want to spend too much time working it out then write 17 paragraphs 🤣
That intro was just an piece of art
I really wish you'd play flight or space sims on it since that's the ideal panel for a cockpit and getting to see how it performs would be great.
Indeed... a game like Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen would suit better. Somebody better upload a quantum-drive jump with this monitor!
@@z1mt0n1x2 Those two games were exactly what I had in mind.
It’s great that the RGB light at the back can now be synchronised.. still ain’t bright enough though 😬
I have always loved the look of the odysseys, I am looking to get an XPS laptop soon that has a 3090 in it. I wonder how well a laptop could power this since I am looking at setting up a docking station.

I mean, I have a G9, but already ordered the Neo G9. I said to myself the G9 would be the last monitor until they released mini led ultrawides......and here we are. NOW the only thing i will upgrade for after the Neo G9 is an OLED ultrawide, but who knows if those will ever come out.
Micro led is arguably better for brightness and durability
I love my g9, I will have to wait a few years to upgrade now!
Now there is an OLED ultrawide lol they got your wallet now
Any thoughts on the color accuracy of this monitor? For tasks like video and photo editing?
I am thinking about the G9 for sometime, but I wanted to wait for the newer version. Since I am one of those mad persons who loves my desktop with a clean black background and without icons, I will quickly start to noticed "deffects" I think I will lean towards de cx48 now...
Most of viewers don't have a gaming pc. But it's nice to watch.
Even those of us that do, 99% of the time cant afford this XD

Wowow, r u telling me I don't have a Gaming PC even though I have a DDR3 4gb RAM 2015 MacBook air?!?
"I need one!" 'NO! You work with medical software, and you're running a laptop with an HDMI to DVI adaptor.'
I exclusively use my CHG90 in 2 * 16:9 or in 21:9 + 11:9 mode (when 21:9 mode works properly, Nvidia drivers made it start flickering), very few games and applications take advantage of 32:9, only downside is it limits the refresh rate to 100 down from 120 and no HDR in split mode.
I'd like to know what kind of set up you need to run and actually take advantage of this monitor. I'd also love a comparison between this monitor and the earlier one. There is about a $1000 price difference. Is it worth it?
