Hello. May i ask something? Is this monitor the size of three screens? I am interested in getting one for sim racing and the 49inch ones aren't long enough to show side mirror to side mirror to replace a three screen set up. So i was wondering if this is long enough.

I bought this monitor for my SimRacing rig and it’s absolutely amazing! I bought the 7900 xtx to have full fps with display port 2.1

Was interested in this product. Love the 4K resolution it offers. One thing to note, MacBooks do have a scaling option for the text/logo size in the display settings (while keeping the resolution 4K)
Pete, I am using the Bewiser S1020 monitor arm and once you adjust the tension enough on the monitor swivel bracket it holds firm, no sagging. Purchased it from Amazon for around $170US dollars.

can you show a video how to mount it I mean the screws do you take it out of the L shape stand and put it in the vesa circle mount ?
@@PeteMatheson I have the S1020 as well and can confirm once you get the tension adjusted proper, it has no sag.. and I have mine set angled up by a degree or two. The price had me skeptical of its quality but I can confirm it has very smooth action and is on par with Ergotron.
@@PeteMatheson Yes. I have the same arm. No issues for this beast of a monitor. Although I do get nervous anytime I'm having to move the monitor.... so big and I worry I'll break it.
I have the 49" ultra wide variant and ended up buying the Mount-It RV TV Mount (MI-431) for it. Holds the weight easily and locks into place close to the wall. Much cheaper than the ergo mount. Another thing you need to utilize is the PNP feature. Its a game changer. I have the 7900 XTX as well and if you swap over to the Pro drivers, your issues will go away.
It’s an incredible monitor. We set up a dual monitor system using two of these for a client (one above the other) when it was just launched.
Which mount did you use for this? I am trying to set up 2x2 with four of these Odyssey 57s. Not finding great solutions at the moment. Thanks for any point in the right direction.
@@brandoschad3097 as he wanted a standing desk, we turned to a company specialising in trade desks (think Bloomberg terminals). The mount is fixed to the desk by a set of in-built rails, with an extra long pole and fixed brackets. As the motor for raising the desk has to handle the weight of the monitors, as well as the computer running them (in a compartment on the desk), the desk itself ended up being a custom build costing around £5K

I used an LG OLED 55" for a few years. It is driving me crazy looking to the top of it. I'm just too close, tbh. So, I ordered this monitor. It will arrive in a few days. I'm excited to get back to an actual monitor.
Hi Pete, there is this one company btw that does have heavy duty monitor mounts compatible with the Odyssey G9 57 inch which is called Atdec, the mount I saw isn't a 90 degree one, but it does allow adjusting the tilt.
So how is the 4090 treating you? Worth the switch from the 7900xtx?
I'm 2 months into having this monitor & your last videos helped convince me. Took a few days to get used to it but from then on I've never looked back. It's perfect for coding work, the lack of burn in risk being a key factor in that - I'm actually quite happy it's not OLED. I use a separate 55" OLED screen for gaming and this for work so get the best of both worlds. I run 3 machines on it and have no issues, if a laptop supports Thunderbolt 4 then you can use the full res. Being future proof is a nice bonus. Things that I've learnt that nothing saw warned me about what was the HDR feels washed out in productivity work. I've tried calibrating but it didn't seem to help much. The SDR is great though & I only use it at about half brightness. With a deep desk the stand isn't an issue at all IMO. At first I thought the wobble would bother me but it turned out to just be a non issue. Well, well worth it.
55 inch screen for gaming sounds horrible
I've just bought the samsung 57 inches monitor (going to be delivered in next few days). I want a soundbar for the audio. From what I understand, HDMI soundbars don't work because the monitor doesn't have the HDMI arc port. Is it possible to use a soundbar with a USB port and connect it to one of the monitor's USB ports? Does it works? For example the Razer Leviathan V2. Any suggestions? Thanks

Insert two thin nylon washers on the shaft clamping the pivot shaft to enhance the grip strength.
Many video games now have the option to move things like mini map, speed, ammo count, etc toward the center by increments. This way all your info is centered like you’re playing on a conventional monitor, but you still get all your peripheral. Cheers!
@Pete Mateson You can just turn off the monitor and turn it on again. So they detect the other source.

Using this with an m3 max MacBook as well and love it. Couple of things have helped my experience: 1- I use side by side to have my Mac split the screen into two 4k screens which it likes better. Zoom calls are easier cause I can just share a normal 4k monitor, and scaling works properly so everything isn’t so small. I use each side in 3200x1800 which is a HiDPI mode so it uses the full resolution just scaled at that size. Only downside is you have to deal with the slight weirdness of the line in the middle and the one screen that’s at 60Hz. 2 - I grabbed the PUTORSEN Premium ultrawide heavy duty single wall mount for 80 bucks off Amazon. Works great and no sag, even when I move it around to different positions for work and my sim rig. I did have to use a longer Allen wrench than the one included to crank down the head tighter though. Your mount may work if you grab a longer Allen to increase your torque.
Thanks! Yeah I used to do that but got annoyed with the line and strange colour difference. Looking for a desk mount rather than wall as I’ve a sit stand desk. Couple of others have posted recommendations so I’m gonna check those out!
Pretty sure they have a desk mount version as well. Also, check your cables and monitor firmware. I’m using thunderbolt 4 to hdmi 2.1 and the hdmi 2.1 to hdmi 2.1 ports and I don’t have any color difference and as long as nothing is moving, there’s no line either.
Do double check to see if you can tighten down the head better with a longer Allen wrench though. That mount looks almost identical to mine so I have a feeling if you can torque it more there’s no reason to buy a new one.
sorry im thinking of getting this monitor, do you get the full dual 4k with 240hz with a MacBook and what cable do you use to achieve this?
When you use side by side, the monitor does one side at 120 and another at 60. Been fine like that since I’m just working in that mode. My cable setup is in the comment above.

Have you tried holding the power button for a few seconds when you had the "no source" kind of issue? I also have this every now and then with my gen 1 G9 when there are multiple sources involved.

@@PeteMatheson Nope, using Windows. That sounds more like a device related issues. Perhaps something in the settings or config menu could resolve that.
I forgot to ask, I have an M3 mac too, which dock do you recommend to get to have the full resolution?
I can't imagine when i will ever be able to afford one of these kind of screens, but i definitly want to see more reviews (just in case!). Because for my particular use case, these shape and size screens look like the perfect answer to a very niggely issue i have had for years that can't seem to be solved with multiple ''normal'' screens.

I have had the 49inch Neo for a few months and honestly for me its been flawless. If you are on the fence about getting one of these G9 screens; just go for it. One thing to note however is that these screens can be very heavy, you’ll need two people to love and fit onto a monitor arm. Apart from that, i was very happy to sell my two 32nch screens after using one of these for a few days.
I love this monitor, I don't even use it to the max, 240hz and all that .. I'm just playing wow and palworld and i just love the immersion 😅.

Thank you for the feedback and going into details. I plan to buy a 57-inch monitor, but I am waiting for the new generation of Nvidia GPUs to come out, hoping they will eliminate the power connector and include the latest display ports. It's a shame Nvidia is still using a legacy version of the HDMI, DisplayPort and no USB-C. HDMI is usually the worst for video and is designed for TVs and TV resolutions. It always seems to have some problems, even when you connect it to a different monitor or computer, and you never know what the outcome will be. Additionally, if you start buying HDMI cables, their performance is also unpredictable.
have you found a displayport cable that are longer, and still do dual 4k 240hz ?
When do you think other manufacturers will start introducing similar monitors? I mean 2x4k with different curve or screen size... Im using old Samsung CRG90 (double 1440p@120Hz) and maybe I'm not thinking about upgrade in near future but... I want to see similar options with lower price...

Glad to hear some positive feedback on this monster of a monitor. There is so much complaining about the 240 hrz not available on a 4090. There is no real game that can output these fps on a resoltion like this at the moment. I have been using this monitor for 6 months for work an gaming and it absolutely great.
Exactly this! I’m hoping I’ll hit higher fps on the 4090 than the 7900. 240hz mouse pointer isn’t all that, lol
@@PeteMatheson Haha you get used to it within 1 hour 😀. You will definitely get a huge boost in performance. Just try out some Alan Wake 2 with Path Tracing pfffff. Just beautifull on a screen this big. Enjoy!
I’m confused, you say the 4090 doesn’t have HDMI 2.1 support? It most definitely does….even my 3090 had HDMI 2.1….My Asus Scar 18 that has a 4090 also has HDMI 2.1. I use an LG oled 4k @ 120hz and I also have the Samsung 55” 8K tv which does 4k @ 120hz and 8K @ 60hz, both of which I ran comfortably with the ASUs Scar 18. 8K @ 60hz can only be done with an HDMI 2.1 port.

I wish we could see two of these side by side on a 90° corner table desk, I need two of these but am worried about how the combined curves would look on my desk.
I can’t imagine going smaller ever again having had this monitor for 6 months now. I’ve not had an issue with it waking up, but it is slow to wake up, but that could be the PC and not the monitor. I use it for both productivity and games and I love it. Worth the investment for me.
Is ot possible to connect a Macbook Air M3 to this 57 display at full resolution? Can I do it directly or with a dock or is it not working at all with this machine?

I’ve had two Samsung monitors 34” ultra wide and a 32 G6 240hz. Both of them had issues with the DP port when the pc went in sleep mode. At first I thought it was my 6800xt GPU . But when I got my 4080 it did the I had the same issue. I used to have unplug the DP cable and shut monitor off to get it to work. I think this is a Samsung thing lol you are having with sleeping issue. My G6 32” DP port went bad I had a warranty through Besy Buy. They gave me store credit so I have the LG 45” Oled and I have zero issue when the pc goes to sleep

Just one tiny complaint on an otherwise stellar review....you said microLed but its really a miniLed...with microLed you wouldnt get any blooming period since its pixel sized like Oled...so literally true blacks like Oled since individual pixels can be turned off like oled....but otherwise the review is excellent

I am still on the original G9. (Would love to be able to afford this one) Which drives me mad daily when waking up my devices. I literally have to turn my monitor off and on to restore my resolution. So feel your pain there. One tip I will give you. Get a USB 3.0 male to female extension cable to extend the service port out with your power and display cables. This will save you pulling apart the back just to update the firmware.
Even though i'd prefer an OLED panel.. at least with this you can leave it on for long periods without worrying about burn-in. Also though fantastic for desktop work and gaming, how is it for films and videos, not ideal for 16:9... maybe 21:9 wouldn't be so bad. Is nice for having the screen divided in two.. having full 4K video on one side. Definitely wanting superultra wide monitor.

They definitively need to work on that sleep, input switch, input struggle, resolution changing, etc etc etc bugs

I used the SIIG Heavy Duty monitor arm (holds up to 23kg) for my Odyssey Ark. Maybe you want to use that for your G9.
im using 3 4k screens can change the scaling on mac. I can also only get 120hz too tho. Oh also the 100r curve was just too much for some of us that dont sit as close. Also some of the 1000r monitors are straight panel that was bent in the middle. 1800R ones are usually more consitant and dont look as weird.

I use this monitor at my SimRig with a 4090 at 120 Hz. It's really nice to drive with this monitor. I've upgraded from a 49 Inch Samsung and this 57 inch is way better
What exactly were the problems with the 7900 xtx? I was looking to buy one in the near future especially because i dont see the benefit of a 4-5% Performance increase with a RTX 4090. Or maybe im just hating a bit on NVIDIA.
Nothing, I just believe he had a bad configuration and taichi is not the best company you can go with for AMD cards. If you plan to get the 7900 XTX I strongly suggest buying the Sapphire Nitro version it will work flawlessly.
I've got a Power Color Red Devil 7900 XTX that's just an absolute BEAST! It's got some coil whine, but I'm almost always wearing headphones, so it's a non-issue for me.
I have the XFX Merc 310 Black Edition and so far no issues running whatever game I throw at it. I have been able to run it yet at 7680x2160 240hz because my pc isn’t close to use the ridiculously short DP cable. Not knowing better I ordered a 10ft DP cable only to get artifact in and screen tearing since apparently from what I’ve researched so far 6.6ft is the max length without issues for that resolution. Right now I’m using HDMI and sticking with 120hz.

At 10:53 in the video, it is said that the 4090 doesn't support HDMI 2.1 which is false. The 4090 has a single HDMI 2.1a port. What it doesn't have support for is DisplayPort 2.1, which is what you need for this monitor to run at 240Hz native resolution. Small mistake but wanted to clear that up.
My last gen neo g9 has had constant issues since launch and I've heard of similar issues from people using every other Odyssey model. The screen occasionally goes completely black or rainbow colored until I power cycle it. This also happened on my second unit I bought several months after returning the first. It has gotten worse with age and prolonged continuous use.
Yeah, that's the one thing making me hesitant to buy this, or possibly the next gen one if they release a new one this year. I have the old curved G7, and I love it, but continually had more and more issues, especially with random flickering. Would've sent an epileptic into a seizure.

Gotta say I've been running a Philips 499P9H for a couple of years now, and I'm looking for an upgrade. I've been looking at the 49" OLED and this 57", but that 1000R is throwing me off. 1800R has been absolutely perfect for me. Also, even my old Philips has a powered USB that lets me charge my MacBook. Amazing that Samsung has to skimp even here. What a shame. 🙁
I love my two vertically stacked 38” 3840x1600 Alienware (lg) monitors. The biggest annoyance I have with them is the inability to shut off the local dimming “feature”.
ouch edge lit... Awful for HDR to a point there is no point in having it at all.
I don't have this monitor to test it, but there could be a way to use this monitor with full resolution and 240Hz by HDMI. This monitor support PBP so, you can use two HDMI cables from your GPU (each should go 4K@240Hz) and in nvidia control panel configure surround monitor. And there you have your 8k resolution @ 240Hz using HDMI.
Both my father and father-in-law bought Samsung TVs which got replaced 3 times under warranty for various defects, then both of them gave up on Samsung when the 3rd TV bezel cracked for both of them! I never buy anything Samsung because of this
The RTX 4090 does have HDMI 2.1 support but it is limited to 120 Hz because of the GPU not having enough display pipelines. You can only get the full resolution and full refresh rate through DisplayPort 2.1 which is only available on the RX 7900 XTX. The RTX 4090 only has DisplayPort 1.4
Ah I was wondering why the 4090 didn't do the full resolution and refresh rate via the DisplayPort - I wasn't aware it was still only at 1.4 rather than 2.1 (which is kind of silly for the top-line nVidia GPU).
@@DavidStruveDesigns Still have no idea why would Nvidia not go for DP2.1 UHBR20 when the thing (originally) costs 1,600 or a cool 2,200 dollars these days. Guess they want to cap out how useful it is in the future.
Hi, i have the same monitor for productivity and remotly, what software you use for the windows to fit automatically?, and more important do you know how to improve the refresh rate for more than 60 hertz when you connect the ps5 in one of the screens? I only can get 60 frames (not sure if this monitor have vrr by the way). Thanks
Sorry to say but the issue is the ps5 you can't expect a ps5 to get more than 60 on this monitor
What issues did you have with your AMD card that made you return it? Was it maybe just that specific Asrock model?
Yeah wild, been using a 6900XT since it came out and the only issue I had was when AMD finally gave us OpenGL drivers (all dat Minecraft FPS) it broke some of my games. (edit: yes the issue was fixed with later drivers)
I bought one a month ago - and took it back because it made popping noises (a common issue!). Luckily, the 2nd one I got doesn't make any noise at all 👍 I have an Elgato Facecam on mine - and yes, the angle is too high up. It's worse seated below! A killer feature would be a behind the screen webcam like you get in some phones. The plastic cover at the rear is too hard to take off, so I've left mine off so I can access the ports easily. It's against a wall so isn't an issue for me. I'll do a review of mine and how I use it (mostly for work/productivity) soon.
All samsung monitors have reliability issues, however when other manufacturers use their panels, their monitors dont have issues like samsung native ones.
That's exactly why I look forward to reading reviews of the Acer Predator Z57 monitor when it goes on sale. While it has weaker specs in a few areas compared to the Samsung, it would be a more attractive option if it avoids those issues.
@@inarisk exactlyyy, however it would be nice to have that 240hz for future rtx 5000 series display port 2.1 and the fact that it's 2500 in comparison to Samsung 1700 isn't the most compelling. But it's the only way to avoid Samsung related issues, and no other company is releasing a similar monitor.
The no video no display sleep issue is the same with a NVIDIA GPU not just AMD products. It is a known issue with with their ultra wide monitors.
i just ordered the same gpu as you did (white rog strix 4090), disappointed that it doesn't support the 240hz as i was considering this monitor and doesn't seem worth it if i can't use it to it's full potential..
The Interactive VHD arm from ergotron (max 31kg) should do the trick not cheap tho
Not sure if anyone has already commented, but samsun has had the issue of the monitor nit turning on from sleep in many if their monitors
The sleep mode issue is probably a Samsung issue. I have 43” qn90b and also have to reboot sometimes just to wake it up
I use the VIVO V100D arm for this monitor and works great. May be it wobbles a bit but not sure if it's the desk or the arm mount itself. I have no way to compare it. And it was only around 80 USD
it's 100 percent the arm, screen is way too heavy for it
Arm is apparently rated for 44 lbs, which exceeds the monitor weight, and it’s able to keep the monitor in a 90º angle. I’m getting a new desk in a couple of days, I’ll see if that helps. I should clarify I currently have a 200 usd standing desk from Amazon, currently bending by the weight of the monitor so I’m positive a new desk will help.
I just got my 57" setup and I'm using a zortac 4090, I have to issues I need help with. 1. The monitor RGB lights don't come on in the front nor the rear plus. 2. I have both the DP & HDMI cables connected to the monitor but when I boot up my computer the monitor won't come with the HDMI selected in the menu, I have to go into the menu and select the DP and the monitor will come on. Anyone have this issue?
I have been on the fence on buying. The reports of them breaking is more prevalent than any other monitor.

True. Nvidia's "flagship" doesn't support DP2.1! You have to choose between 2160p@120hz or 1440@240hz.

with repect to you monitor not waking up/detecting display when you PC comes out of SLEEP or HIBERNATION, this happens to me as well and I have a 3080 card. I found many many people with same complain on Samsung forum - its a disaster and Samsung having terrible customer support won't respond or fix it. I will return my monitor because of this and ask other do so - its the only way they will eventually address it.
Try switching the Mac with a USB-C to Displayport cable and you should get a sharper image and the option of higher refresh rates.
Tried a few cables with this monitor and for some reason, none of the USB-C to DisplayPort work. (They did on the previous 49" versions). Having to use a Caldigit, but I'm too cheap to upgrade to the newest version 🤣 So for now it's the Caldigit + HDMI Cable.

My dad's 60" Sony had a similar problem. They're not supported properly and it puts too much stress on the panel.
I use BetterDisplay on macOS to increase the scaling when using my Ultrawide so I can replicate the 125% scale from Windows.

@ Monitor Arm: NewStar NeoMounts D775PLUS is rated up to 19.1 kg and is cheaper. i have it, but my screen is not that heavy, so i cant tell if it holds the g9. for the price id give it a try, if i where you
