Isn't this the monitor that pretty much everyone has complained about due to QC issues and how HDR isn't actual HDR on this monitor?
That's the one. But Jay has no integrity and either took the money whilst knowing all of it's issues or didn't bother researching it at all.
@@kieranbrown1151 he's not promoting it, and he wasn't paid. This video is NOT a promotion. The reason for this is because he is legally obligated to disclose this. All it would take is one person to call him out and he'd be under massive legal trouble.
@Male Sensitivity ''Samsung has to answer for what they have done'' ... You are contradicting yourslef lad , either you have to blame Jay for doing publicity to such a bad product or you just eat Samsung sh** . Samsung ain't paying for anything especially not when major KZheadrs who reach millions in term au audience do them service !

@@williameldridge9382 He is promoting it on the sense of not publishing an honest review it doesn't matter in the legal sense of him not being paid by Samsung for an AD rather than a sponsorship. Anyway sponsoring a video in which you review one of their products already shows a lack of integrity and bias before the video even starts.
And much appreciation to the game developers who remembered the 32:9 aspect and put the HUD in the center
Agreed.
I hope that Steam will do the same in their new refresh "Source 2"
Without touching on the issues this monitor has, this just feels like a 22 minute advertisement for a samsung monitor.
I do prefer the sponsor segments of LTT cause they'll still say bad things or not release the video if it's dishonest, but he was pretty clear that it was in fact sponsored and not a review.
Could you use hdmi and display port from a pc, use pbp, and essentially have 2 monitors with no center bezel? That way I could game in full screen and still have a second window for other stuff.
Can't a guy just be enthousiastic about a monitor that he actually likes? I agree that monitor land is quite boring (if like me you don't care about the refreshrate race) and this brings all the other recent goodness together. You don't give Jay a lot of credit here, also it's clearly mentioned it's sponsored?
@@jester0770 That's the point of this G9 Neo monitor.
@@alxndrassies He said Samsung gave away for him the monitor and he'll keep it as his home monitor so it is sponsored. He didn't receive a reviewing monitor (when they're receiving things for reviews they usually have to give them back after the review because that piece will be given to another youtuber for reviews).
Would like to have monitor like this, planning on getting one for the content creation just like Jay shows 11:50, but I know because of the stupid Windows 10/11, something will go wrong with the recording software, or game itself and it will be a living hell recording anything. Anyways still detailed review when it comes to modes and how you can use them. Have checked other reviews and they all tell how wonderful it is when playing 32:9. No one tells how a content creator would use it. Good job Jay!
Shame about the crappy quality control and crappy firmware and HDR issues and also scan line issues.
this more or less.
Yup, promoting a product without knowing all the issues

@@williameldridge9382 yes it is lol, “the video is sponsored by samsung” to show off the neo g9 hes promoting it….
@@williameldridge9382 Bro you're commenting this everytime someone brings it up, even though he literally says it at the beginning of the video 💀💀💀
Jay - I own this monitor and it’s had a lot of trouble. The firmware is awful. HDR is nearly unusable. I noticed that you didn’t show the Windows desktop with HDR on. It’s terrible - there’s is a spotlight on the mouse and windows. Also, 2000nits only occurs in a small spot for a quick moment. Testing has shown this model’s peak brightness vs the OG G9 is almost always the same. The panel can go brighter, but the firmware hasn’t allowed it. I’d appreciate you digging into these topics and showing either ways to tune the display to “fix” the HDR or shed further light on these issues and put pressure on Samsung to resolve them. $2500 monitors should be “ready-for-market”. Unfortunately, in many ways the Neo is still in beta.
It’s a sponsored video so it’s essentially an advertisement, unlikely to get any real criticism.
Watch the Hardware Unboxed video. A firmware update is on the way that will mostly fix the HDR. They show it side by side and the diiffrence is massive even looking trough an SDR screen.
why is the hdr unusable?
My original G9 looked awful with HDR on desktop even windows 11 the Neo looks very rich in color and bright i am a AMD 6900 XT user tho the display performs worse on a Nvidia gpu
I have this monitor, HDR yes looks terrible, but switching local dimming off (I dont really see what it does, on = off when in SDR) with HDR it looks much better. You dont need to enable HDR on desktop anymore, windows will enable HDR automatically if you launch an HDR game.
I have been watching reviews for this monitor for two days and you were the first person that pointed out it can do 2/3rd PbP. This is PERFECT for my use-case. I was going to do this through Windows PowerToys, simulated in software. But now I know I can do it with hardware, which is so much better!
I just got myself an older non-Neo Odyssey G9 and I am loving it. I got it primarily for flight simulation - the extra wide angle provides better situational awareness. I am also taking full advantage of the PBP feature for work. I work from home and regularly have both my work screen up on one half of the monitor, and my PC screen up on the other half. I also regularly run screen shares over MS Teams and when I do that, I have my shared screen on one half and my own notes, the Teams window and anything else I need to refer to on the other half of the monitor.
Do u grab 4k on it?
Not sure what you mean. It is not 4K resolution, rather it is 5120x1440. It has almost as many pixels as a 4K monitor, but in a different aspect ratio of course, so if gaming at the full resolution the demand on your GPU is roughly the same as 4K
Must be amazing with a flight sim :)
@@dane4890 It really is. The extra panoramic view you get really helps. Now I just want bigger though 😂
Still waiting on a version of this whose quality matches the price.
So.... Like $ 200?
Keep waiting and prices may skyrocket.... You never know
Come December, prices may drop.
If had 3 tries on the original G9 all lots of dead pixels from 3 down to 2 back to 3 yes 1 revived another popped up 2e 15+ holy shit no no no, then 2 down to 1 yes again revive event, and then whole screen black screened, first G9 Neo came in Doa 2e G9 Neo at store bright pixel safed me hassle cos i took pixel warranty! DO NOT BUY WITHOUT PIXEL WARRANTY IT SAFES YOU HEADACHE! now technically waiting for 6th attempt to get a screen from Samsung, freaking BS honestly there is no quality control you are the quality control unless you buy pixel warranty then its the webshop and there other issues as well not acceptable at this price point.
@@limkloosterboer No. Price of 2 good monitors. So approx 1200-1400. I don't early adopt anyway.
will you be following up with this with an impartial review covering all the faults known with the original g9 and the neo? very overpriced for a questionably designed and built monitor :-(
And how to calibrate it correctly, so the HDR issues can be solved?
agree'd WAY overprices
Samsung still hasn't figured out the firmware part of things. Ghosting and flickering exist basically on any model (not every product but every product SERIES) of samsung monitors. Just dissapointed of these products that come from one of the biggest panel manufacturers in the world.
I suspect no, not as long as Samsung is sponsoring the reel.
@@Craig-ib7gk agreed - typical sponsored YT drivel as if we know FA. Which, having my own CRG9 I can tell you that odysey or the G9 is no bloody different except a 240hz refresh rate which, being frank, is just a waste of bloody time. 2000 nits and poorly implemented via shoddy firmware - endof.
I understand doing a sponsored video, but this monitor has widely known deal-breaking issues, so it would be nice to show test results.
I agree. Jay and "reviews" were always... problematic though, because you rarely see him mentioning problems or such
I don't think he has enough test equipment to get really good data. But yea, he would have mentioned the history of this panel and tried the titles that has been said to have problems with the HDR. (If I remember correctly HDR on this monitor has a history of working fine for video and some games, but sucking with other games. And this is bizarre as there should be no difference between HDR for video and games, and certainly no difference one game to another. If HDR is active the screen should behave the same way no matter what. It has taken Samsung a long time to get to the root of this but there is a new firmware being tried that that fixes some if not all of these problems.) Still I kind of can see how it's easy to get overwhelmed by all the bling and features to the degree it's hard to think of anything negative to say. I *is* a sexy beast of a monitor...
Like what issues? Also, is it the actual Neo that has the problems, or the other G9 monitors? Could it be they fixed the issues with the Neo version?
@@stelonous take a look at Hardware Unboxed review and reddit. This version still has issues.
have been using mine for a few months now and have had no issues. I do have one dead pixel but I can live it. The biggest issue I find is playing FPS games has a fishbowl effect but I figure that is due to code not hardware.
You forgot to mention one the more useful features of the PBP, which is running two side-by-side displays on the same computer and then using the graphics card to make it one display again, thus getting a seamless software divide of two hardware screens, this makes for some very interesting functionality like being able to full-screen content to half of the screen at a time.
Aha! That's exactly what I was just asking about. I'm very glad I found your answer. Thank you! :D
Wait so can I play a game like Dead by Daylight (which only supports 16:9) on the left side in full screen and have youtube/discord/obs on the right? Or am I reading this wrong?
@@OhJase I think that's exactly what he means. this function basically turns one monitor into two physical monitors in practical terms.
Doesn’t Windows 11 does that natively or it’s different? I mean for non 11 users at least it’s a great feature to have nonetheless!
@@RonJeremy514 No. Windows 11 has a feature which has automatic templates for window positions on screens but that's it. If you use full screen, it will still take up the entire monitor. It doesn't have the power to make your monitor act like 2 different monitors, and having full screen on one while doing something else on the other one, unfortunately.
I have had the previous model for a year and a half. Best COVID purchase I made. There is a weird side effect; when I look at normal flat panels at work, they look weird to me, almost like a CONVEX shape
holy shit i can see that happening lol, that's crazy
went to dr . he told me to give up curved monitors cuz my left eye was geting lazy ... use curved at your own risk
Interesting but that remains to be seen. It would be interesting to see if there have been any studies on this. Either way, more companies should invest in ultrawides, especially with FancyZones being integry into Windows 11.
@@gamesthatmatter9374 Sounds more like an assumption to be fair. Don't see how this should be related
@@nothisistoni its because the curve can force one eye do become dominant since there is no much eye movement on the curved one . On the flat one u can look bottom down and top right with more muscle engagement. The dr told me because of this my left eye was becoming lazy and the right one was overcompensating. Also on the curved one the glare is not distributed equally . If your window light source is one the right side then the glar will be distributed unevenly and one eye has to work more than the other . On the flat the glar it comes across all screen uniformly. The doctor told me has has most of the patient with blindness in one eye and lazy muscles from the ones who use curve monitors or have asigmatism I give up the curved one since 1 month and my eyes dont cross anymore and my stereo vision is stronger than ever(i have some neck pain though due to more head movement now , but better than becoming blind in one eye)
I got the G9 (non-Neo) for productivity - in particular, a whole lot of excel spreadsheets! It’s amazing. In fact, once I got it I thought “you can’t have a screen like this and not game on it” - and so my virgin PC build started.
Dude it's amazing seeing a guy in a suit who bought this for "a whole lot of excel spreadsheets!" Be so blown away with a monitor that they felt obligated to build a pc to game on it

I have the older G9 that I bought nearly a year ago and Jay is right about reducing eye strain. I notice the flat panel at work feels very strange and difficult to look at in comparison now.
There are many reports of defective G9's though...
Did the company replace them? Did they honor their warranty? If so, what's your point?
@@williameldridge9382 The point is that it doesn't look very bright for Jay himself to promote a product that has many flaws that's also been called out by other KZheadrs such as Hardware Unbox. Working at Best Buy, I can say this monitor overheats like crazy. Only recommended if you need a second space heater other than your desktop.

the customer reviews on best buy aren't looking good either. probably going to wait until issues are resolved......and for my wallet to be ready.
I agree with you. After 2 hours of gaming it gets so hot to even play comfortably.
No, it gets warm. It doesn’t “overheat”. I have both the G9 and the Neo G9. Zero heat issues, but loads of other issues on the Neo G9.
This video needs a follow up. I know the target audience are big spenders with this item. But its just so cool. I want to know how these use cases feel after the long term
I use a 32:9 monitor for CAD and work. It’s fantastic for having 2 monitors side by side and you can clean up a lot of space very quickly I can have 2-4 pdf’s open on one side, my CAD software, and a my email open all at the same time. It makes productivity really easy. Is it the same as 2 physical monitors? Yes, but it takes up much less space.
I own the previous model and it's fantastic for my job.
I have a friend that uses his previous model of this one for work and games. He split his monitor for a 21:9 on the left and a 4:3 on the right and he's pretty happy with it. He's an IT tech
@@mrs_radrod we have two 16:9 monitors at work, and with CAD open, and a few PDFs on the other monitor sometimes it is not enough. Especially if you have your layers and properties, some PDFs, mail and let's say an excel sheet on the other one. Since I have 3 at home, I think this is the right amount. Main CAD window in the middle, CAD properties, mail, PDFs etc on the left side, and layers plus even more PDFs etc on the right (if needed) and if playing with all 3, there is no gap in the middle, and a bunch of games (in fact, there should be more! please, devs have the multi- and widescreen people in mind!) support moving the HUD to the middle monitor only, too.
Jay's channel is more entertainment, I usually watch Tim's reviews from hardware unboxed for actual performance/calibration numbers lol plus Jay is so late that it could be out of stock by the time you seen his video 😂😂

Thank your for confirming the refresh rate when ini PiP/PBP modes. You are the first channel I've come across to mentions this in detail.
I have the previous model. I like it over all, though in most games it does stretch the 1/4 of the screen on either end. That isn't caused by the monitor, but the game. The monitor stand is horrible for taking up your desk. I went with the ergotron arm and made a huge difference.
I bought an Odyssey G7 and it ended up having a bunch of issues. I wouldn't recommend any Odyssey monitor as they all have similar and well known problems.

I own both the Samsung CRG9 (49" DQHD 120Hz) on my gaming rig and the Samsung CHG90 (49" dual 1080p 144Hz) on my wife's gaming rig. Both rigs previously had triple monitor setups and I, as you mentioned, got tired of the constant heat output of 6 screens (we live in TX, it's hot enough already). Trimming down to just these 2 monitors freed up a lot of desk space and a TON of heat overhead in our game room. Once we tried out the 49" ultrawide experience, I can't see either of us ever going back to multiple smaller monitors. Not having to constantly tinker with NVIDIA settings to enable/disable surround vision before/after playing a game is a massive plus IMO as well.
I have the Samsung CRG9 with Arctic Z1 Pro (Gen 3) monitor arm and I'm very happy with it. I moved from two displays and a dual monitor arm. Even just going from that huge arm to this one made a big difference.

Those 3 Hanns-Gs then moved over to my wife's desk to replace her mish-mash of 1x 27" BenQ monitor and 2x 24" Samsung monitors to give her 3 equal sized displays. Then, for Black Friday 2020, I bought the CRG9 to put on my desk and move the CHG90 to her desk and get rid of the Hanns-Gs completely. At 95W each, the Hanns-G triple setup was a space heater by itself, let alone our 2 PCs also dumping out heat into the room.

I've watched a ton of these video reviews and you, Sir, by far, cover the most useful use cases! Thank you!
An update on my experience of owning this for 8 months now. I had eye strain problems. They have been completely eliminated with this. Just not hype!
I had a Samsung C27HG70, and while it was a beautiful panel, it shipped to me with dead pixels and a very annoying issue where (even with no video source plugged in) it would power on then back off for a few seconds before finally starting up for good. This caused me to have to reorganize my desktop windows and icons (though this is partially a Windows issue too). When I contacted support, their response was to have me ship the monitor across the country on my dime for diagnosis, which would probably take a month. Needless to say, rather unhappy.
I have a better, dumber issue: The OSD joystick doesn't fully work when the panel itself is warm/hot. This means I can't go into the options menu because "up" doesn't work for me. Thank goodness I've made the setup properly back when I started using it, because now I'm stuck with whatever settings have been set. At least during winter I can properly use it until it warms up lol. Most likely it's an easy to fix issue, but I'm really not in mood of disassembling it to see what's the faulty part. Safe to say though that whenever I'll buy another monitor, I'll avoid Samsung unless they fix their QA.
Got the same panel. After two and half year (so the warranty was expired), the pannel started to show weird horizontal line on all the screen. Some research later, it's common problem ... Samsung is only good for two things : Planned obsolescence & Marketing
You should have returned it and got a replacement. No reason to deal with the manufacturer because of the bogus crap of having to send it back on your dime.
How come we rarely see driving sims being showcased on monitors like this one? I mean why would I want to see ONLY a fps game for the FOV advantage? Have the CRG9 (two gens before this, less curve and 120hz). Great monitor but I’ve recently moved to an Aorus F048U OLED monitor (LG C1 panel). It’s next level in terms of blacks and contrast as you’d expect, but I’m really enjoying the extra height I’ve missed with an Ultrawide by moving back to 16:9.
I have been waiting for this monitor(the 57” version) for quiet a while it’s been on pre-order. It’s a shame Nvidia doesn’t support DP2.1 so I guess I’ll be stuck with 120Hz for now.
I’ve had the initial version of the G9 odyssey for about 3 months now and I’m still absolutely in love with it. I play my PS5 on the left side of the screen and run my stream on the right side of the screen. I haven’t had any issues with tearing or dead pixels or anything major like that. The only negative I have with it is that that aren’t a whole lot of games that support the ultra wide gaming just yet but they will come and the games that currently support it, look incredible with it full screen. MCC is one of those games and it feels like a whole new experience.
I've had mine a year now and it's fantastic for sim racing. Mine has some QC issues, such as scanlines on the very top left corner. It's very noticeable with orange colours like the reddit logo. They are really only noticeable on the desktop, not while gaming so it doesn't bother me.
The synced light makes me wonder if we'll ever get a monitor with a built-in ambilight
Philipps makes one actually , I think it’s called the momentum and it’s like TV size only
I have this monitor and use it for personal and work and I LOVE it. Looking to get a second one to replace my 2-24" monitors and have two of these stacked.
I have a 34" Samsung that does PBP and love that I can use one side for my computer tasks and on the other side I have a google chromecast tv for watching shows while i work! Super nice feature to have.
I remember having Eyefinity when I played BFBC2 and having the 3 displays was kinda a cheat because I could see so much around me
Huh, seeing all this talk about the g9 and I've had no problems with my g7. Guess I was lucky? Hadn't heard anything about it. If there really is quality problems, perhaps jay taking it home as a daily driver to experience it himself might be interesting to see if he has a problem with it long term.
He'd rather just take the cheque than spending time researching about a product he will endorse to hundreds of thousands of people.
I’m right there with you, I love my g7 I had no idea about all of the issues and I thought I researched it pretty well, I think that even a really knowledgeable tech guy like Jay just gets excited before thinking the worst of the worst from a company and being a positive guy. If he’s gonna be using it I’m assuming he’s not just being a shill but who am I to know for sure.
Same here. Had my g70 since 2016. No issues.
@@tybread2997 My CHG70 had 3 panels started artifacting in 2 years. To this day there is still the cold boot issue with lines on the screen.
I just ordered this monitor, and this video just adds to my excitement. Thanks for reviewing it.
I got the Samsung Odyssey G9 and i love it, it is crazy amount of screen real estate, only gripe I got with it is the HDR, so this new version gets me really interested, to bad it is way more expensive that the one I got. When I game I use full screen, when I stream I have a 16:9 gaming window in the middle and to the sides all the stuff for the stream, when just surfing the web I use the same layout as the streaming but the sides have discord and spotify
Haven't been watching youtube for the past 4 months but Nick always has a place in my heart :P
But hardware unboxed had some bad things to say about this monitor.
Yeah this video is sponsored, he has to follow samsung's guidelines.
Yeah just like that mini-pc jay is silent on that one too
I’d sim race with it. It would give me a wider display with no bezel or trouble of running triples. I’d also put it on an arm to swing from my sim rig back to my desk for fps games.
I have the older 120hz gr9 odyssey screen personally that I got for 900 euro from sale few months back. It has 8 local dimming zones HDR and its abjectly terrible experience to use HDR on but from what ive understood this version actually does have well done HDR that does not light next mile of the screen with a backlight when one pixel gets lit up on the screen. Most everything Jay said in the video matches my own experiences with the screen minus the HDR which bumped the price of the monitor up by a half at least.
I used to be a Jay Fan Boy, but it just seams he is in it for the money and does not really care about his viewers. Not only is he very late on this review but no where does he mention the many issues with this very expensive monitor. I used to take Jays word, but now I always see what Steve or other content creators say before I make a purchase. I can remember the massive cooler fluid, where he even got bit by it within 6 months. Come on Jay, came back from the dark side, we really want to trust you but at least for me, you will have to earn it back.
@Balakeh Congratulations another person that doesnt realize money doesnt make you the least bit happy. Say what you will but taking money to promote known trash is pretty shitty especially when you already have 3 mill subscriber money.
@Balakeh Congratulation on not knowing how to run a business, if your customers, in this case viewers can not trust you, then you risk loosing your customers/viewers.
He's also probably unaware. Monitors are an entirely new world most tech people don't delve into very deeply.
This seemed like a ridiculous screen setup and then I remembered that for 3 years my work setup was two horizontal 16:9 panels on monitor arms next to one another. This cuts out the middle man and just recreates that setup, curve and all, without a break in the middle.
try running that monitor on a cheap gpu
@@arklight1670 something tells me if you're shopping for a monitor like this you're probably not running a cheap GPU.
@@Krauser1226 That's my point
@@arklight1670 Think again. I'm running similar monitor with a Geforce GT 1030. Games well enough, not at the very highest settings maybe but definately good enough to play with.
To watch multiple Jays two cents videos with Phil‘s awesome editing 😂
great for work! with powertoys and "fancy zones" can have 3 full windows at once effectively.
I'm guessing because you never talked price, it's one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" monitors.
I just looked it up on Amazon, its like 2400 bucks give or take
This is gold
Jay: justifies spending $2500 on a monitor for notepad brightness. Me: -$2500
lmao for real though.
Hello Jay! Same here with HDR being terrible. They probably sent you a monitor with a firmware update that fixes the issue everyone else is having.
I'm a bit inexerienced on the performance to graphic card VRAM point... I like playing with everything on max and wanted this monitor, but I'm unsure if the 12GB on the 3080TI would be enough? Any thoughts on that? Should I try to get a 3090 instead?
still prefer a triple screen setup. (16:9 27" sides + 21:9 34" main) Way more easy window controll. And way more flexibility when multiple devices.
4K monitor + DisplayFusion. You can control your windows however you want and there are no bezels in front of you. Also, one click and you can still maximise a window to the whole screen if needed
I've had the old G9 and used it everyday for 10months until I had to sell it after getting a dead pixel and samsung not willing go fix it plus all the flickering and heat issues that came with it. Was excited for the Neo G9 but many reviews show the quality is just as bad but the price is higher. Waiting for Samsung to fix all the issues with this monitor to buy it for myself. Even with all the issues the old one had, I still liked it even though sharing screen was also another issue with having such a wide screen. Had to adjust the resolution every time I shared screen for classes or calls
@I love you but Except it is actually legal if dead pixels are not covered by the warranty. And they never really are; some manufacturers/retailers offer a dead pixel warranty though for a fee, and in that case they would have to replace if the number of dead pixels protected by the warranty is reached in the allotted time. (not all warranties are valid for 1 single dead pixel, some require 3, 5, or whatever is decided)
@I love you but in my case I bought mine from Newegg in the US and shipped it outside the country. Neither Newegg nor Samsung in the US or in the country I shipped it to were willing to do anything so I sold it.
I've been thinking of getting this monitor for my sim racing rig. I would love to get a monitor that be curved enough to be like triples and this seems to get the really close. wish more people would show Iracing with this monitor.
ik, I will only change this for a 48:9, seriously XD
It is a nice display and I have been looking at curved 49" monitors for over a year for many of the reasons you mention. I don't need the 240Hz refresh, backlighting behind the panel, 5K, or other high-end specs, so I can get a 49" that has many of the same or other features such as PIP/PBP and a built-in KVM to control the two systems you run in PBP mode for over $1K less.
You shouldn’t get anything over 38” if it’s not 5k. It just looks terrible. Not enough pixels.
The LG 38” ultra wide hits the sweet spot for me. This thing is cool no doubt but I personally found it a bit to wide for gaming.
I just want a very nice 32" 16:9 as my primary and decent 32" as secondary. Seems like the MFGs are focused on the 27-28 inch 16:9 screens or these curved monitors.
Corsair just announced their 32" Xeneon monitor. 1440p, 1ms, non-curved. It's pricey though.
I have that setup, two of the exact same 32" monitors. Does absolutely everything needed and if I needed a third monitor for watching chat I can always get a small one that's as wide as the main is tall and have three monitors, two of which can be shut off when not being used. And I don't get the "clutter" Jay was talking about, they make dual and triple monitor vesa mounts that's fully adjustable to get the proper viewing angle between them and one mount post that you route the cables through.
@@bigchewdb looks terrible to me.
This is what I wanna go for. Have you decided on which ones you'll go for yet?
@@bigchewdb Thanks, I took a look and it's close to what I want but too much of the cost is due to color accuracy and too little towards framerate, even though that monitor certainly fits the description of "very nice". I'd like 240hz refresh rate or higher (done right) before replacing my 28" 144hz 1440p monitor. I'd be willing to pay $650 or so for such a monitor, maybe in a couple more years there will be something for me.
Have had that one for quite a while. Fantastic beast.
Hi Jay. I need some information about the series on the g9 neo's out there. I was looking for a g9 but i saw all kinds of pricing tags. So i noticed that the serie numbers are different like this LS49AG954NU , G952 , G950. What do you know about those differents?
This monitor needs ONE more thing to be perfect: Allow software control of the functions. Reaching for a button is so 2020.
I agree. It was my first thought. It's already usb connected so why not have a software to connect
Then you would have to Tab-Out?
@@Thund3rstone still better than reaching. Or, maybe allow global shortcuts?
@ Corsair did it, I bet it’s going to be a thing now.
The AOC has software control, comes with a remote control as well.
Got a "non Neo" G9 and it is awesome. I use it for software development (multiple IDEs, Browsers) and gaming. The curve is just perfect and so relaxing for the eyesduring long sessions. When gaming it is mindblowing how immersing games get. I would compare it to VR if you are really focused. Some people may get sick on fast paces shooters. There were no hardware quality issues but it took some firmware versions to get it running in 240Hz + HDR in combination with RTX30XX. Also there are (still) some sporadic wake-up issues where you need to turn it off and on again. I am not sure how the original G9 compares regarding heat, but it really heats up the room and radiates heat towards your face (you feel it on your skin). During summer this may be an issue for some people.
Mine will arrive by EOM. I'm really looking forward to having so much more screen space. I do a lot of cyber security stuff and have a ton of stuff open so this will help a ton. Additionally, I'm a gamer so this is another area where I expect this to truly shine. While I don't expect it to be perfect, it will certainly be plenty useful for me use cases.
@@wolfk.l.5582 I promise you will love it. Best monitor I ever bought.
I always thought super ultra wide was a gimmick until I gave it a shot. I never connected the dots about the dual 16:9. Once you use it for productivity, it’s actually hard to go back to something else. I’ve been working on an older model CRG9 now for a few years, the 2x 2k & Picture in Picture is freaking amazing for work. And it’s soooo clean. When it comes time for me to get a new panel, I fully intend on getting another 32:9.
What graphics card do you use to power this thing since it’s just for productivity?
I'd like to see a head-to-head between this monitor and the upcoming 8K mini-led Neo G9. I'm thinking that the mini-led G9 might be the better choice for productivity. I'd go for this one if gaming was my main use. Since I want to do a lot of Fusion 360, I need reviews of the mini-led to help me make my decision.
I would like to see Phil's "assets" displayed in a video.
Hurray for double-wides! 32:9 or :10 is awesome!
Hey J does the variable refresh rate still work when using the pbp?
Can you ie split the monitor into a smaller view in the center when you for example wants to play a game without the widescreen? (or that much widescreen)? With one source only and without windowed mode like you did? Can you, with one source - split the screen into 3 to simulate 3 monitors? Hard to explain so hope you understand :D
10:32 "everything seamlessly goes to the way it was" : monitor seamlessly shuts down for five seconds
I have one. It is awesome. It is great to have 2 computers hooked up to it. I use it for one computer on 2/3rds and 1/3rd for the other computer.
First of all love all your videos Jay I wanna use it like you, splitted 3 ways so the middle is for gaming but is this also possible when not playing in Windowed mode? Cause windowed mode does reduce my performance Thanks in advance!
Outstanding monitor, with all these pixels, is must be very heavy on the graphics cards. By the way, what is the exact measurement of the painel height? Cheers
21:37 How would I use this monitor? As a home, because I'd probably have to sell my house to afford it.
