    • "it's about as wide as a 55" TV while at the same time being only half as tall" yeah but the price is still twice as much and the picture quality is about 1/8th of an OLED of half the cost or even less the pixel density is pure shit even on the G9 evo and it costs as much as buying 2 top end 55" LG OLEDS ,(C1 or G1) and it's only a shit VA panel , with barely any local dimming zones , I think it has like what 8 whole LED's LOL the light bleed is absolutely horrendous and they have flicker issues up the yin yang don't get me wrong I am totally sold on ultrawide but no 4k and no IPS or OLED ,horrible black levels horrible light bleed ,non existent dimming zones that are so bad you just need to turn the feature off completely, dull washed out colors ,screen door effect especially for productivity and all at double the premuim price of similar width TV but at half the height are all pretty big deal breakers for me , the sad fact is the picture quality still looks like complete ass but then again it does with 99% of computer monitors these days. I known the second I buy the G9 they will make huge improvements and this thing will look ridiculously outdated in 3 years time, especially since these are already pushing 4yo just buy an LG C1 55 OLED and cut it in half, voila . I mean seriously you could get a 55 OLED and cover the top end with black construction paper and have way better monitor for the half the price or the G9 evo just set the resolution to use the bottom half of the screen only , I feel like I am paying twice and getting less than 1/4 b.b.but muh refresh rates, yeah that still does not justify the price increase to me bendable OLED monitors are just coming out now the corsair one that goes all the way to 800R and it is the same width and speculated to be about 1300, Samsung is supposed to come out with a motorized version of the corsair basically and Samsung is playing games with the prices , it was $908 in my cart then it went up to $989 I sign on into another account and add the monitor again and it is $908, then it jumps up to 989 if I don't check out right away,

  • Pro tip for FancyZones- if you shift+click and drag over the line where zones are split, the window will resize to include all those zones. So you could, for example, take the setup you have now and also bisect the screen horizontally and have six zones. Now, by hovering over the lines you get the same functionality you had before, plus space to make smaller windows with ease.

  • I run a CRG9 49 and yes like you I am never going back but it took a long time for me to resolve the "older games" issue. Whilst there are several work arounds for displaying various games on an ultrawide that were not made for it I have found a rather odd but oh so useful option in the GForce Experience utility, yes an actual use for it other than advertising. True this only works for games with optimised drivers by NVidea but that covers nearly all of my gaming catalogue. In the home tab (where it shows the games) select the game you want under details, then click the spanner next to the optimes button, in the pop up window that appears select he resolution you want to use from the drop down and also select full screen. This for the games I have tried it on forces a full screen experience like watching a movie with the black bars either side, any attempt to do this ingame will break this so it still isn't that useable but it has worked for me with Skyrim and Fallout4 and gives better looking results for Halflife 2 than the in game options which work but have edge distortion.

  • I once bought a similar ultrawide monitor. It was a big mistake. I couldn't play any of the games I played before. Even if the games were running on this custom resolution a lot of the action from the left and right side of the monitor were way outside viewing angle. Most of them games were distorted on this resolution and the gpu has to calculate a lot more pixels for no reason at all. Movies were a nightmare and I had too much desktop space that I didn't knew what to use for. Now I use a 1080p 24 inch monitor AGAIN and I am super happy about it.

I was pretty stoked to have him come out of his way to tell me how much he loved a monitor. Once I got home and got it hooked up I was blown away at how functional by being able to change the amount of screen one input gets if you need to do a dual screen setup. I liked it so much that I went and got a 2nd one, one for work and one for personal!

  • I have considered one of these for years. I actually ordered one a couple of years ago and then ended up canceling the order. I definitely would go with a 1440 version though. 1080 is too low (I don't game so for productivity 1440 is much better). I also currently am running a 34" wide (2560x1440) so I'm used to that vertical pixel density (paired with a 27). Watching this makes me want one again.

    • have you seen the QHD? it's still too low, it looks like garbage, I just saw the G9 next to the G9 evo there is hardly any difference, the evo looks a bit brighter , but they both looked washed out they both have screen door appearance ,low pixel density, there is no way the evo's price is justified the G9 is the best value when it is on sale for it[s lowest price of 999 or $900 but still WAAAAY overpriced for the extremely poor picture quality I have an old Sony vaio haswell ultrabook from circa 2014 ,this thing has a 13" IPS Sony triluminous display and after using it all these years every single time I look at any other PC monitor they all look like total shit to me , even at 6" I can not see a single pixel ,even if I lunge forward to 3" the blacks levels and contrast are amazing , color accuracy and color brightness are outstanding and viewing angles are near infinitely perfect , of course I can't game on it and not even sure what the refresh rate is but for video and productivity he picture quality is not even close to any monitors I full size PC monitors have seen , OLEDs are advancing at a rapid rate and so are mini LED's and QD TV's these PC monitors are like 6 years behind the curve and speaking od curves we has curves OLED TV's like 10 years ago when the industry gave up on them though now I am hearing they are bringing them back ,also the curved OLED TV's used to be cheaper than their flat counterparts because that is the default state of the panel when it rolls off the fab, they have to flatten them for the flat TV's. They are selling crappy VA panles that not only don't have any local dimming (unless you count the whopping 8 zones on the G9 ) but have no mini LED tech for backlighting, the backlighting in these monitors is in the dark ages and it shows ,it's worse than in a 10 year old bottom of the barrel wulmurt special BF door buster TV, I just got a C1 OLED with 120hz , 240 is ridic but I much rather have 4k ,higher pixel density and an amazing picture as opposed to something that looks like a CFL backlit LCD from 2010 , I love the 32:9 but come on step the game here we are not going to pay these premium prices for low pixel density VA panels with crap backlighting it should be about $600-700 tops for a good 1000R 32:9 4k OLED at 120 or 144hz when you consider that LG can deliver a 55" panel with the same specs for $1000 on sale that is twice the height of these things and when you consider that that is for flat TV and OLED come off the fad curved and it takes more time/ money/resources to flatten it out .

  • I love the looks of this one, and it was also on sale and very tempting not so long ago 😅 ... but since my 3x27" setup works the wonders I need, and I mostly work with text files, I am happy with my current setup. I have a curved 34" for the field work, and it might look insane dragging it around, but it almost feels like being in my own office (rather than going around with one 27"). All said, curved ones are a thing of beauty, and especially come in handy for gaming etc. But for office use, I'll stick with my triple setup for now ... • I had considered going for a super ultra wide monitor for my new PC setup, but went for a regular ultra-wide instead to save on costs. For ~€550 (found it as well for $550 in the US on amazon) got a 34" 144Hz 1ms 3440x1440 (21:9) curved monitor and I'm honestly extremely happy with it. You still need a beefy GPU for a monitor like this, and the productivity benefits are a bit less; but still, the 21:9 is so nice for regular use as well as for gaming and I don't think I'll ever go back to 16:9. So, if you are considering this but don't want to spend a fortune, consider scaling it down a notch, as you still get a lot of the benefits from an ultra-wide at less than half the price.

  • I use the Philips 499ph - 49 inches diagonally and 5120x1440 but only 60hz refresh. I don't game so refresh rate isn't important to me. It works very well for documents and watching films and I'd find it hard to go back to my old setup. The curvature comes into its own with monitors this wide as the corners are closer and you're not viewing them at such an angle.

  • I love this video. This monitor seems like a life-changer. I couldn't help notice the setup of your mouse and keyboard. If you're looking to improve life with the PC even more I suggest a more ergonomic setup if you haven't tried it. It's worth trying a keyboard wrist pad. I recommend Glorious PC Gaming Race. And if you want to take a healthier step further, give the Evoluent vertical mouse a try. It takes some getting used to but your future wrist and hand will thank you.

  • This is the monitor that I wanted! My gamer husband convinced me that 49" was too big and a 34" ultrawide was more than enough. I work from home and use my ultrawide for AWS, and I really could have used the extra real estate that the 49" ultrawide would have provided for all the programs I use in AWS.

As I use it for work (spreadsheets, emails, other systems, videos, I would need to check if my laptop supports it.

This configuration is huge when it comes to studying, having an available lab computer right there and for developers. Awesome!

  • Ahh another man of distinguished taste, using the triple zone setup... I have the predecessor of the Odyssey the LC49RG but it's 1440p. Fancyzones was amazing when I found it and makes a 32:9 montior a productivity monster. But as a gamer myself I took it a step further using StartAllBack to split my taskbar in two giving me full vertical resolution in the middle. I then wrote my own software to maximize windowed games into this area and remove the window borders (hit me up if you'd like to try it). So now I can chill playing games in full 16:9 2560x1440 whilst having comms and web browser etc. open on either side. I do sometimes game in 32:9 and it's very immersive but performance takes a hit and the peripheral areas are not really in your field of view anyway.

While sharing the screen during MS Teams/Video calls, can only the part (the snapped window) will be shared or the entire 49 inch content gets shared to the audience? If someone is using seperate monitor, only the contents over that choosen monitor gets shared. Can this be configured in these ultrawides?

It's hard to find good wallpaper though, so i have to crop and make them myself, from images i like, most of the times. It doesn't need that much of a monster GPU as people tend to think. Pixel count is similar to 27" 4k monitor, so it needs similar power. I use 1080ti and it seems like enough to get 100FPS on most games.
