    • My dream monitor is the same the LG 38" that you already use - and I bought it and love it. While I like the width of the LG 49", I dislike the shorter height (1440). If it had 1600, I'd be more eager.

    • My dream display would be a 4K, 16:9 OLED display at 240hz, able to hit 2000nits/2500nits on a 40% window and also have BFI - Black Frame Insertion at 240hz too (so it's not limited to 60hz like on the LG C2 or 120hz on the LG C1). But that shit truly is dreaming. 🤣🤣

I'm currently using three LG 27GN850 UltraGear Gaming Monitor 27" QuadHD Nano IPS 1ms HDR, 2560x1440, G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync 144 Hz for about a year. Honestly, they tired me out and your video made me fall in love with the 49". I bought it today, I hope I'm satisfied!! thank you very much and I'll let you know 👍

  • I've had the same LG ultrawide monitors (both 38 & 29" versions) in the last year and then bought a Samsung Super Ultrawide 49" at 120hz, and I must say...this LG monitor is tempting! Samsung is known for their screens but something about the LG monitors has felt more well rounded from the settings to overall reliability.

I am using Fancy Zones to split it into 4 sections and run some of my software (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) over 3 zones while file manager, chat, etc. in one; others are snapped over the two central zones. Yes, something this size is really great to have.

  • Small correction @TheTechChap: It's not a 5K x 2K monitor. Just DQHD (double). The LG 34BK95U-W is a 5K x 2K monitor @ 5120 x 2160. Fact: 2K, a cinema standard, is having 2160 pixels in one dimension, contrary to what marketing and 90% of humans call all 2560x1440 monitors - e.g., 2160x1080. Ergo, 1920 x 1080 is closer to 2K. Marketing, eh. 😀

  • In my region, this and Samsungs Odyssey Neo G9 are about equal in price. For gaming, the Odyssey would be the better choice therefore, if you are prepared to deal with the downsides, which also come in the form of Samsung's inferior quality control and firmware issues as discussed in countless forums around the web. Then again, if productivity is a big focus, I would prefer this for the KVM switch and USB-C capabilities alone. Really nice to have the option in any case, while not going back to 60 Hz.

    @dynastes4938@dynastes4938 Жыл бұрын
    • Only issue I have on my Neo G9 is HDMI on PC. It's just problematic all around. Using the DisplayPort works flawless though. I keep mines at 1440p 240hz and love it. I will say HDMI using any other devices like Mac Mini, Apple TV, and consoles works perfectly fine. It's just using HDMI from my PC that causes unstoppable flickering. I was going to upgrade to the Ark, but it's wouldn't be an upgrade since you can't use picture in picture or side by side with two separate inputs. That was a dumb move on Samsung's part.

But in a few months, I will be upgrading to the latest Mac mini for personal use and a MacBook Pro for work. My plan was to get an ultra wide monitor to not run into any dual monitor issues with either computer. My work laptop is just web and Microsoft Office stuff. But my personal Mac I would be doing web stuff, but often also using Photoshop and Final Cut Pro. I have no intentions of gaming on either computer. Would you recommend this monitor based off what I would be using it for?

  • This monitor is exciting but I wonder if it Carrie’s over a major design flaw of previous LG Ultrawides. The ribbon cables connecting the lcd screen to the primary pcb can overheat partially melt. Causing horizontal lines going across the entire screen becoming more evident and making it unusable over time. I’ve heard of this happening in the range of 6 months of use to 3 years of use. The next issue is the LG warranty lasts only 1 year, whereas most companies, like Samsung, will issue a 3 year warranty for their monitors. Do you think LG has addressed or fixed this in this model?

    @ActiveBoiz@ActiveBoiz Жыл бұрын
  • I have the previous version of this. There's two things that drive me crazy. When using picture by picture for two devices in a 2:1 ratio I can only have the smaller side on the right but I really needed it on the left, seems insane to me that both weren't an option although it seems to be fixed on your newer monitor. Also I really wish it had 2 USB C ports for two devices.

  • After having used a 49" CRG9 for the past 2 years, I would rather go for the 38" because of the screen height. 49" 32:9 makes for a good productivity monitor, but it's iffy for gaming, as you get extra.... but mostly unneeded peripheral vision that are mostly distorted due to rectilinear scaling. Then there's the fact that you're still effectively using a 27" monitor... though one that's twice as wide. I'd rather get an ultrawide monitor with the height of a 32" 16:9 .... something ultrawide of that height would be a 40" 21:9. So an LG Ultragear 38, Alienware 38, or MSI MAG38 would be nice. But what I hope to see are 5K2K 40" 21:9 screens. The upcoming Ultragear 45 looks attractive. But at 3440x1440, the PPI is poor. They should have gone for 5K2K.

    @rvs55@rvs55 Жыл бұрын
    • That's about what would be ideal for me as well, a really big 5K2K or 6K 21:9 for a main screen My next setup will be a 40ish inch 4K TV or monior, really wish I could find a 6K or 8K at that size though, paired with two small touchscreen ones bellow it, that will replace my current 50 inch 4K My most common window setup is the top two thirds of the screen with the main application, and some messaging or music apps at the bottom, and I constantly have the instinct of trying to touch them instead of using the mouse because the vertical movement is so big, so I'll just to that, change to a little smaller main and use touch one tilted up for those apps, not to mention it will allow me to play games at full screen while streaming

    • @@undead9189 Yes, the 45" ultragear is on my consideration list for upgrade. Unfortunately, it's only 3440x1440. That's gonna be very poor DPI/PPI for the size. I heard there's a 5120x2160 45" coming in 2025. I might just wait for that.

  • This is probably the best all-rounder in the 49" class. Awesome to see an IPS panel and 4ms response time is fine for most gaming. If you are more of a gamer then as you mentioned the Samsung 49" Neo Odyssey G9 is still the best...until next year when MSI bring out an 8k OLED 49", 240hz beast. Agree, the mailbox slit 32:9 ratio isn't for me. I do stock market trading, and many (like you mentioned) stack an extra 49" on top for charting. Sounds obvious but it's actually counterproductive as getting a 48" or even the 42/43" TV size monitors would be the better choice.

  • Something like this with more curve would be the ultimate for racing games. Because it kind of immitates how your real vision would be looking straight ahead in the cockpit of a car being able to see what your passing on the left and right out of the corner of your eyes. For first person shooters though, it would be cool but too much to keep track off having to turn your head too much. But if your main use was just using dual display mode, it would be quite nice.

You can buy two 4K 120hz 42" or 48" LG OLEDs once they go on sale next year (they always do) for that price. I'm not saying they can replace this for very productive work which can of course cause burn in but the prices are just ridiculous.

  • I've had quite a few monitors even an older dell 49 inch monitor. I loved it but the refresh rate being stuck at 60hz was a bummer. I am on a 32 inch gaming monitor now and it's just not quite big enough, during work I always have to open my laptop to move a meeting over to it. It's such a hassle. I ordered this because it's basically what I wanted, two 27 inch monitors with higher refresh rate but without all the hassle of deciding where to put them. I can throw this right in front of me and be good. No power brick and usb-c/displayport/power pass through are almost needed. One thing I am looking forward to is trying to use picture by picture with one computer to make it work more like two monitors. I know that sounds odd but when it comes to screen sharing in meetings it's easier to share one side of it to have a more normal view. Kinda wish they could have done the hdr 10 with this version though. OLED and VA are cool but I'm not quite ready to go all in on OLED and VA never really did it for me.

I know that sounds odd but when it comes to screen sharing in meetings it's easier to share one side of it to have a more normal view' my hesitation ern with the ultrawide is needing to share the screen with customers for work , e.g. sharing presentation or a demo of an APP/website,. the customers will all be on 16:9 raio so this will make it look very odd. I;d also prefer not to have to open up the laptop to do the sharing. is this PbP a solution to this?

    • @@simon75uk So short answer is yes. I have an m1 macbook pro 14 for work so I use the usb-c and a displayport to usb c cable to do the two. With an m2 mac you might be able to use the hdmi ports since they support hdmi 2.1. I didn't know the hdmi ports on the monitor were 2.1 but that allows me to connect my desktop pc to this monitor with the hdmi cable it came with and get full resolution/full refresh rate. I didn't notice it at first and tried to use just whatever cables I had. Definitely use the ones that come with the monitor. The displayport to usb-c/thunderbolt cable I had to buy separately. Now I can leave the mac closed and zoom/google/teams/macos sees it as two monitors. If you go fullscreen you might have to disconnect a cable cause it'll still think it's plugged in to two and you might lose your mouse and some app windows. Sorry this is long, hope it helps!

  • Coming from G9, i was hoping for higher resolution since that is my only problem with it. You can literally see the pixels! Which I couldn't on any 4k monitor ....and it is 2022, we shouldn't go back comparing it with 2k and 1080p pixel densities.

  • It should be wide = 2x monitors Ultra wide = 3x monitors wide was used for 16:9 but people just say HD or 16:9 As an answer to his questions. I currently run 3 24" 16:0 1080p panels. Would like to upgrade to a 3 wide panel but what he just showed is actually 3 4:3 panels? or some kind of wonky in between 4:3 and 16:9. But I think I'm waiting for the right one to pop up on the market. 144hz demining zones HDR Color 3 wide.

  • Impressive but I hate the letterboxing effect. 5120 x 2160 or 5K2K IPS @ 120 Hz would be the one monitor I would splurge on without any regrets. I just want that sweet spot in versatility.

  • The downside of ultra wide is the lack of support in many things like you mentioned, youtube has black bars, games have black bars, videos have black bars... I was thinking about getting the Dell Alienware AW3423DW, oled screen, 21:9, 175hz and so on, but im not sure yet, as im about to upgrade to an rtx 4090 as soon as there is any stock here in Canada. Cheers The Tech Chap, I love your videos.

  • Let me share my own experience. First of all, I'm using the Samsung one. I'll start with the positives : 1. Good for multitasking 2. Increases productivity for work-related tasks 3. Gaming on a 49 inch monitor provides a unique immersive experience 4. Can be used in dual screen to avoid black bars 5. The 5120x1440 resolution is very sharp Negatives 1. Compatibility issues for the 5120x1440 resolution on iOS (at least with my 2019 Macbook Air) 2. The 5120x1440 resolution is not available for many video games (however, there's a way to hack it with some softwares) 3. It is impossible to play in 4K. You have to sacrifice some graphic quality but you gain in immersive experience. It depends on your preferences 4. You sometimes need to physically move when you focus your attention on a different side of the screen. It could be more curved

    @YanBrassard@YanBrassard Жыл бұрын
    • If you don't have the budget for a 49 inch monitor, you can use Samsung's 32 inch curved monitor. It is compatible with 4K, the immersive experience is less impressive but still very good, multitasking remains very acceptable. The price-quality ratio is perfect.
