Hi
the monitor costs more than my entire fûçćïñg setup
Love my 👽 DWF panel 🥰
I am not into big huge beefy monitors but if I had the chance to get one I'd just get a samsung
This is what Cylon's from the original Battlestar Galactica see. Why does the vertical height of the display have to be so small?
That local dimmer is a shocker! I cant believe LG gave it the ok...
That's not much different from what the G9 released with. This looks like a G9 competitor and not a neo G9 competitor.
And I thought MSI MPG321UR-QD was bad... this is even worse...
depends on the price, my CRG9 is the same, the lag isn't as bad, but I never bought it for the HDR anyways so it doesn't bother me.
It's also only $899 for a 49" with very decent specs.
@@jumpierwolf so they made a competitor to a monitor that no one buys anymore
Also, some warning about PBP, im not sure about this model, but sometimes when you use PBP, you have to make some compromises, sometimes it means you cant use hdr, sometimes you are restricted to certain frame rate, sometimes you cant use gsync or freesync, lots of unexpected problems that you wont know until you get one and its too late
I have a Samsung G9 49 and have to make all the compromises you said.
@@danielcaparros yep, I had a neo g9 before, the newer one with qd layer, once I realised that so many compromises I have to make, I just switched back to a 21 by 9 with a small 16 by 9 second screen by the side
My samsung chg9 has lines all over when cold starting with pbp on. Started right after warranty ended. Thanks samsung! Fuckers
same on the aw3423dwf
@@danielcaparros Same here, no gsync, no HDR, 120Hz only when in PBP
That's a lot of cash for a monitor with so many issues. I can't imagine that's going to be a big seller, and if it is I wonder how many folks are going to be unhappy with it
This is why smart people are not early adopters. Unstable prices and products.
Most people go into a store and buy the thing with the most cranked contrast levels without doing any research
@@fynkozari9271most smart people are early adopters. Those are the innovators.

6:08 That is actually the window being translucent, the effect is called Mica. Because of the high (and wide) resolution, the blur is disproportionate to how it would usually look, so it looks like it's weird discoloration effects.
Can you guys do top productivity monitors?
I've come to accept that this channel is for 'boy gwmers'
I use a 49" 32:9 monitor for productivity and can't imagine anything better.
@@dom7019??
@@sl0playimagine a 34” 21:9 in the middle, two portrait monitors to the sides that reach 47” tall, and another 34” on top, that’d be insane.
Something like 800 for this would be a lot more appropriate than what they're asking for
Best I can do is 100$
Its on sale for $400 off right now lol
i got it for 750
I have the same dimming issue on my LG 38WN95C. There is a setting hidden in the menus somewhere that allows you to tone it down, it does get pretty annoying tho
These are $899 on LG's own website, and $850 on Amazon right now. I think LG knows they messed this one up.
Thats literally the price that the G9 is. Its not meant to compete with the Neo G9.
Would have thought at this price they would have a couple of USBC ports that can output at least 90w
Usually at this price category you don't have that, since the entire system will be optimized for maximum screen size / capabilities rather than just convenience. There may be some exceptions though in the mnostly productivity-aimed monitors that don't try to go for also gaming though :)
Without a built in fan such a display already gets very hot. I do really feel the heat 50 cm away from my Samsung 49". Probably they would need to build active cooling into the thing.
You can get a super small GAN adapter that outputs 120w through 4 ports, why would you care about a usb output from the monitor? (Yes I understand it's extra money, but at that point for 60$ you can have something that you can even move and take with you when you travel)
@@ciprianrobo One cable docking the laptop.
meh, at that point just get a dock and stick it under the table that switches hdmi, camera, mic, headphones, keeb and mouse all at the same time + charging.
For a while the Ergotron HX with high strength pivot was the only screen able to hold a samsung G9. this might be similar which is a very expensive arm, those considering screens like this should check out the prices as well as have a 140cm+ deep desk.
I find it hard to get excited by new non OLED monitors after using one for a couple of years. The only reason I would get one of these would be for work and there's better options for that.
Mini led is better than OLED
I've never owned an OLED but I have owned a Plasma TV, and I'm surprised people are using a display so susceptible to burn-in as a gaming monitor. I think I'd be anxious every time I come across a game with a static HUD, as I am whenever someone wants to watch sports with a static scoreboard on my plasma.
@@peteyification do you play 12+ hours a day every day with the same hud? i guess if you do, yea, burn in might be a concern. but if youre like 99.9% of other players, probably not playing a single game that much.
If you read text a lot on your monitor having an OLED is terrible
I've tried one before for programming and to be honest I would rather have a great VA or IPS display since my eyes got tired relatively quickly when looking at text for a really long time on a OLED panel display compared to the common LCD. Also I'm not going to take a risk of a downtime and financial loss for a panel that will be useless once the permanent burn-in kicks in. OLED is amazing for media consumption though.

do you guys have/plan on having a video overview/review for the latest and greatest 49" from samsung with their OLED tech ? I know you took a look at it at CES but any plans for a follow up ?
The PBP on that looks useful, the oled G9 for some reason didn't do the PBP that all the other G9 and other ultrawides did and it only splits it 16:9, Where before it was 21:9 and 11:9. I miss that on it.
I was wondering if I work with Photoshop or illustrator and I need to use lines, Do these ones look deformed. Because I've seen a lot of videos where people say that the lines start deforming and look curved
The ppi is the exact same as a 27” 1440p display. It just has extra pixels horizontally. It’s still 27” equivalent tall.
Hi guys, would you mind taking a look at 1 or more mini led monitors? The 2 brands that stand out are INNOCN and KTC, competing with Coolermaster
I have the 2 non curve lg ultra gears 32in and love how to input is same as this had msi ones b4 which had them on the bottom nightmare for unplugging or pluging something in
I had the first gen of these monitors and got rid of it after a couple of years. One thing that I hated was using it for gaming at full screen 10:05 your peripheral vision is zoomed in. You can kind of see when Plouffe pans left and right.
That's FOV buddy.
It would have been awesome if they offered and IPS option.
Do you think at the end of these videos you could drop someother recommendations of monitors that are about the same size. or price. even if its just a quick list.
Hello mate, just got my lads this monitor for their ps5 for Xmas. I can’t get the monitor to output any audio! I can get a speaker tomorrow to plug into the USB but they can only hear the ps5 through their headsets. Does this monitor not have any speakers built in?! Shocking for a £1k monitor!!
I think you missed the comparison, specs wise it's a more or less a first gen G9. Would have liked to know if it's better, worse or more or less the same as that without having to look for a review and compare myself. You could have at least compared to the NEO G9 beyond the dimming zones. Tell me the price difference and if that one has better colors so I don't have to look for a review myself. I agree that regardless of that it's too expensive but that would have been a valid comparison and I don't think the flat 42" OLED is a valid comparison, I've used a 34" flat monitor and it's pretty annoying.
I guess the big question is. Now that the video has come out and I guess LG has seen it because posted link to the LG store page now has it at $899.99 on sale. Is it worth it at that price range?
Do you have any recommendations for a pretty small monitor as a vertical secondary monitor?
From my past experience of large monitors based on VA panels... I wont make a mistake again.. only ips or if budget allows the OLED only
For fixing the HDR problem in gaming there a Realtime HDR Analyzing Tool + Reshade is a game changer
I'm not a fan of LG products personally, but tuned in to see how this review went (and to keep up to date on all tech brands). Not surprised the bottom line was 'not recommended'. Thanks for confirming that I'm not losing out by not looking at LG as a possible brand to purchase.
I really need to know what Video you were playing (starting at 11:38 )and what channel that was.

Honestly the banding and noise make this unacceptable for $900. I'm on a budget 144hz 24" VA panel monitor with an older 60hz IPS next to it, and I will absolutely stay away from VA for my next monitor. The color accuracy and vibrancy of my secondary monitor is loads above my main, however I cannot go back to 60hz. I may look into the 165hz Chinese monitor that Optimum just reviewed. Then the 144hz will go to my wife's computer.
I don't know why high refresh rate VA panels are even sold anymore. Everyone who experienced one bashes on them. They always get really terrible ghosting on dark objects. Why companies think it's acceptable to sell this trash for this much money is beyond me. I got a 144 Hz IPS Panel because LED was just too expensive at the time, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. Good color accuracy and fast response times with no ghosting or other artifacts. Only think that always kinda sucks with them is contrast, but it never really bothered me so far, even in dark environment games or movies.
@@strohmy9863 I mean, I only spent like $150 on this monitor, and the 144hz has been great. I got it a few years back. I know there’s been many improvements since then, especially for IPS panels. But I agree, this seems like it supposed to be a “flagship” product, but doesn’t even have any sort of full-array local dimming. This should be maybe a $400 product. I also think the VESA “HDR” standards are a load of marketing bullshit. HDR1000 can mean a dozen things.

Wheres your guys review of the OLED G9???
I kinda want 4:5 screens back. like a 32" 120Hz 4:5. that would be badass
I like the idea of these ultrawide monitors but I think I'll stick with my two 32" monitors for now until there is a decent OLED at a more reasonable price.
Yeah I prefer 32 inch over 27 inch. Good for wallpaper engine. They make 2k monitors so small because they wanna keep pixel density. But I don't care.
Unfortunately the only ultrawide OLED that exists atm is the Odyssey G9 OLED and while you can get a good deal on it, it has no burn-in warranty and is still at a minimum $1500.
Probably take few years for that to happen even a 27 inch oled monitor cost 1000$ I can't imagine what a 49 inch oled monitor would cost asfar we know Samsung comes out with a 57 inch 8k monitor 240 hz that of no pc can push but it's 3300 they r making that instead of a 4k 49 inch oled only amd and Intel has the dp 2.1 you need but doubt they can

We really need a review set of VESA display mountable stands.
What I would want with this is a 16 by 9 virtual screen in the middle with 2 8 by 9 virtual screens (one on each side). This way, if ai want to watch movies I can spread it to the whole thing, but the melajority of the time it would just be 3 convenient monitors.

I got the LG 45 3440x1440 and was really dissapointed that it only outputs 120hz refresh rate on lower resolutions for some reason. I haven't looked into it too much. But I'd like to lower the resolution, and create custom resolutions for playing competitive shooters and such and was unable to do so. Basically I've only gotten it to output 240hz on native resolution.

Does the old set still exist or are these sponsored vids just coming out late?
3:56 I see a lot of Premium displays doing "premuim" IO moldings, The space around that IO looks worse that no-name brands cheapest monitors.
I'll have to disagree that a 48" is a good alternative, at least not for productivity work (which I know this is a gaming monitor). A monitor that size, when sitting that close, really benefits from the curve. I'm not saying this monitor is worth the price, but even my 43" LG (non-curved) is too big to comfortably use if you have to look around the screen. I end up putting items that I only reference occasionally (email/chat) on the sides and primarily utilize the center 50% (split into 25% 50% 25%).. I've been wanting to move to a curved 1000r display, but it seems like this one won't be it. Thanks for the great initial thoughts/review!
Take a look at Koorui and Prism+ monitors from the asian market. Budget monitors that packs a lot of value.
Is that a new controller plush colorway I spot?
Don’t got that crazy monitor. But I game on my 43” LG Nanocell 4K TV with HDR all the time. The out of the box video settings for that tv wasn’t great. Color accuracy was a bit off, and auto color boost was set too high. Normally people would turn auto contrast and auto color boost off but to me. Turning those settings off made it look washed out. I just had to use a free App Called THX Tune up to calibrate the Color saturation, shift the tint to slightly to Red, then shift color temperature slightly to blue. I also set auto color boost to low. My gaming experience with that TV is pretty good now. It’s only 60hz but just turning on Vsync and capping fps to 60 works really well. With low latency mode on. It feels a lot smoother than 60fps. HDR looks pretty good too. I get perfect darkness with bright highlights that can be piercingly bright. Basically I don’t think people should judge a TV or Monitor with out of the box settings.
Just give me a 4K 34ish inch OLED with a 120hz+ refresh rate. That's all I want. Just make one ffs.
If you are looking for a 4k ultrawide... well these don't exist. A 4k 34" ultrawide would be about 50% more pixels than a regular 4k display... that's pretty tough to drive. If you just mean a big 4k display that's 120+ hz and oled, well there are several. Most of them are TVs, to be fair
@@tronique5736 Yeah but the smallest those typically go is 42" which for most people is too big for a monitor.
I switched from 48" to 42" recently and I think I wouldn't go any lower for gaming. Once you get used to the size it's great.
Those should be available in 2-3 years. if you are ok with wqhd instead of wuhd resolution, check samsung odyssey oled g8

3:43 How many people actually have their monitor in the middle of a room rather than on a desk against the wall. This would be an absolute nightmare to plug something into the back when this is actually setup on your desk rather than just simply plugging into the bottom of the monitor.
Hello all. I just bought this monitor because I am using it for productivity and not gaming. I am wondering if anyone knows how to configure the settings on a Mac Mini 2018 to get the best resolution for productivity. I can turn on 5120x1440 at 120hz and everything seems ok although text is very small in Finder and in Chrome web browsing which makes everything hard to read. Does using USB C to Displayport help much? I'm using HDMI to HDMI. I don't see scaling options in the Displays section. I am using Ventura 13.4.1.
Do you also have issues with scan lines going through certain colors?
@@claytonhouser7578 There was a setting in the monitor where you change the use from AV or PC or something like that and that helped a lot. I now have it looking much better. When I had it to the Mac settings above, I was able to get the 5120x1440 at 120 hz but upon waking the computer up it was a mess. At my current settings I have 5120x1440 at 60hz but I have no issue with the screen getting obliterated after waking it up.

On LG's website it's listed at $899 which is an okay price given that would have it be around $100 cheaper than the old Odyssey G9 that it's competing with. At the price Plouffe mentioned in the video this monitor would be completely DoA given the neo G9 can be found for cheaper than that. youd be crazy to get that instead of a c2
for an ultrawide like this, id have to run 2 cables to it and just use it as 2 different monitors, essentially the same as putting 2 1440p monitors side by side. and for that price, its not too bad, but given how its almost the price of 3 monitors (given that i usually see them around $300-350 each) i probably still wouldnt buy it
I used to have a neo g9, its fine on paper but i find that most game doesnt works with 32 by 9 ratio, plus its lot of wasted pixel in your outer field of view thats just wasting gpu processing power, sure its more immersive but id rather have 10 to 20 more fps compare to 21 by 9. Its not great for content consumptions either, since you will get huge black bar on either side which you essentially using a 16 by 9, at least with ultrawide 21 by 9, movies looks amazing filling the whole screen

Yup. Like the host said, LG trying to sell monitor features instead of an actual good display. Anyone who buys it should be slapped for not buying a cheaper 42inch or 48inch OLED or Samsung's NEO G9 if they must have a big display.
