Russia has a programme to sabotage wind farms and communication cables in the North Sea, according to new allegations.
The details come from a joint investigation by public broadcasters in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
It says Russia has a fleet of vessels disguised as fishing trawlers and research vessels in the North Sea.

  • My father was a radioman in the US navy 60 years ago used to look at the fishing trawlers coming into port in New Zealand and said those aerials are short burst radio systems for coded information broadcasts. Why would a fishing trawler need short burst radio transmitters except as a monitor for Soviet intelligence. That was 30 years ago. Nothing has changed

    • What’s crazy about those ultra right wing Russian-Soviet military types is they think Soviet Russia was the strongest force of all time and that it only failed because of self sabotage. They also believe their tactics are still the best way to go about things and the the west is too stupid to figure it out or even stop it. They’re delusional on a frightening level and could drag us all into a world war. I do think if that ever happened the Russians with brains would overthrow them pretty quickly after the west starts destroying them on the battlefield. Everything we have in the military is MINIMUM 2 generations beyond anything they have. All the talk of the super secret futuristic weapon systems is BS. They said the exact same crap during Soviet times. If they really had what they claim they’d be showing it off for the world to see like North Korea does. Also no one can find anything that suggests any of it exists and there are spies at the highest levels of the Russian government & military.

Each side also has submarines that are set up to do the same thing, which have actually encountered each other several times while on patrol. Anything they can blow up, start on fire, bury, sink or otherwise annihilate they are hitting and then hitting a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th time. To assume windfarms and telecommunications cables are not valid targets to the Russian military is a mistake and could prove to be a costly one if NATO and non-NATO nations alike aren't ready.

    • What's your point? Warships aren't needed to do surveillance and sabotage.

    • If you really think Ukraine sank that ship then you are not really that clever. Anyway Ukraine lost the east of Ukraine and most of their army. The war is over.

  • Shouldn't P00ti be warned that NATO nations will regard subsequent sabotage of their infrastructure as sufficient grounds to invoke Article 5? Or is this another of P00ti's desperate attempts to appear threatening, even though he dare not risk being swatted?

    • @@KulpimsTdna It's pretty obvious that Russia already sabotaged the communications cables to Svalbard. Their spy ship crossed over it hundreds of times and then the cable broke. Not really a big mystery who did that.

    • "Article 5" doesn't necessarily mean retaliation, armed or other. Article 5 means that if one member is attacked, it's considered an attack on all members, and all NATO members are now obliged to talk together and decide what to do about it. In theory there's the possibility that they all decide to do nothing.
