  • As a Norwegian, I'm really happy to see the positive comments here regarding Norway and the Nordics in general. God bless the USA, and I hope NATO will continue to be such a strong shield against agression from the Eurasian steppes, that have attacked into Europe for century after century. Also: Did you know that there's just as many Norwegian-Americans in USA (specially in what used to be the former Montana Territory), as there is here in Norway? From Alv, and my cat Lucis, in Bergen, Norway.

    • @@operez6519 I just remember I became afraid during the Trump years, when the former president seemed to think NATO didn't have much value at all, and this is something I've seen from other conservatives, that earlier (like during Reagan) was the strongest supporters of a strong Western alliance. I've seen a lot of negative comments about Norway in specific from people in USA, so a change in this, is something that please me very much, since I know that most people in Norway really love all things American.

    • @@elvenkind6072 Main fuss about NATO was about money and others not paying their agreed amounts. The US footing the bill where the country deficit is ballooning out of control, a deficit that involves China. "Negative comments about Norway" Most I've seen are just complaints about waiting so long, I'm sure most are happy for Norway now.

    • There's an ongoing cooperation among Norway, Sweden and Denmark these days, that work to publish exactly what Russia is doing in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, and I'm waiting to see more news being shared to USA and the rest of our friends. The vulnerabilities are becoming more and more clear. The question is if Russia should be allowed to take advantage of them, or not. I think not. There's probably a very similar problem in the Bering Straits, only not likely with such a complexity. God bless USA, God bless NATO, God bless the Northern Front! Let's agree to die before we give into tyranny, aggression and invasion.

  • As a U.S. Navy enlisted man in the 70's who spent his watch time on the bridge of a frigate and later in life, a "hawse piper", one who worked his way up from below decks on tugs and supply boats to the wheel house to become eventually a master of his own vessel, I have got to say, I am one jealous captain of the overall condition of that Norwegian Patrol Ship, particularly the command bridge/wheel house area. And the berthing accommodations, galley and lounge area, rivals those found on high dollar expeditionary charter cruise vessels... I know for a fact that there are standing U.S. Navy Captains commanding ships right now that would be envious of that double stateroom that Tom Costello was staying in while visiting...

  • I was anti-sub warfare aircrew (ASW) in the US Navy. Back then, the Soviets were our chief concern. I know well what Russia is capable of, regarding ASW. Most all of Russia's subs are upgraded versions of the subs I used to hunt in the Cold War. It is good that NATO takes Russian submarine capabilities extremely seriously. I also have no doubt that the NATO ASW capabilities are more than capable of effectively confronting the Russian submarine threat.

Hoping to see more documentaries from the Northern Territories, that we used to be alone in defending here in Norway, and also Iceland was our responsibility, but now also Finland have joined us (!!!) and I hope also soon Sweden (perhaps USA can help put some pressure on Turkey, as this is the only thing that delay that very strong army to also be part of NATO? Turkey just refuse to realize that Sweden have Kurdish POLITICAL REFUGEES, that the Turks call "terrorists"...) Thank you again. 🙂

It's both heavily vertically and horizontally integrated both within 🇳🇴 Norway but also in many other countries. 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 PS That excellent reporting also emphasized that the Norwegian armed forces and their 30 NATO partners were working hand in hand with the surveillance, maintenance and protection operations of Norwegian oil and gas industry, not solely on their behalf. PPS Norwegian petroleum operations benefit their citizenry, far more than American, British, French or Dutch petro-giants. • Wow that ship looks like a cruise ship compared the Spruance class destroyers I served on during 1981-82. The Spruance were the newest ships in the US Navy, and they were considered the most crew comfortable. Let's just say there were no couches or places to 'relax. (we had a small gym, but that was it). We worked port and starboard 24-7, which is 6 hours on 6 hours off the entire time we were at sea, no weekends, etc. No one had the energy to 'relax.' lol You were either sleeping or working, period.

  • Some things to note about Russian submarines- Russian subs are unreliable, dangerous and prone to fire, flooding and radiation exposure. Russian subs rarely travel more than a few hundred miles from their ports for fears of becoming disabled. Russia usually has no more than 0-5 subs at sea and those subs are operating at reduced capacity because of low quality materials, components and poor design. Russian undersea crews are sloppy and poorly trained. All nuclear submarines are enormously expensive to operate, maintain and repair so its not likely much will change with the Russian fleet.
