  • Nothing better than breaking up a night shift with a bit of "I'm Tony and I've built a tank video "needs battle damage on the bridge deck ,a couple of shell holes to run the tank over.

  • Nice work Tony. Maybe a bit of landscaping for the garden to accommodate it? Is the wife ok with that? It would be interesting to see a video of that. That ROC Hobby 1/6th Jeep would go well with these tanks.

    • Hi John and thank you. That discussion is yet to be had :-) The Tiger looks brilliant on it...Have some driving videos up as part of the last bridge build video..the bridge is really big and true to scale so anything 1/6 scale works really well with it. I was thinking of posting the drawing and list of materials on here just in case someone wanted to build something similar. It really has enhanced the driving experience. Have a great week.

  • Hello Tony. I enjoy building bridges with the feeling that I am building them. The damage decoration was completed a while later. First of all, I'm looking forward to the production and completion. こんにちわ トニー。 私は自分が作っている気持ちで橋の作成を楽しんでいます。 ダメージ装飾は完成してしばらくしてからの事です。 先ずは制作と完成を楽しみですね。

Thank you...I will definitely add detailing to the bridge, battle damage and similar. I. am glad that you are enjoying this short build..I have some more coming up showing my Tiger driving over the bridge, so I hope you continue to follow.

  • Nice start on the bridge, Tony. I do plan on building something for my M26 once I am finished with it which will be quite a while I think. Summer months keep me busy with over 2 acres of property to care for plus I like being outside, so I won't spend as much time on it unless it is bad weather. But I m in no rush, being retired. Already the build is addictive! I have not even put anything together yet, just cleaning and etch priming a lot of pieces first. I built two large work tables just for this project as well, and a large spray booth with exhaust fan, so I have been busy before the tank even arrived. I am lucky to have a very large basement workshop to fit everything into. I can't believe how fast I am going through cans of UPOL etch primer. One thought on the bridge when you set it in place, being that you are not using chemically treated lumber, you might want to place any wood that touches the ground on a bed of river rock or gravel if you can, so water flows down into the dirt and does not sit on the wood. Just a thought.

    • Hi Ray, and thank you. You are so right..there is no rush on these tanks and the real pleasure is in the build...Sounds like you are going about it the right way. Yep...the etching primer...I think I used 8 cans on my tiger, 4 cans of primer and 6 cans on the main coat. Your advice on the bridge is absolutely spot on..that is the plan...base it on gravel away from soil. One thought Ray...your workshop is in the basement...have you a lift or means to get the tank out when complete? Sorry..perhaps a silly question from the UK where basements are normally accessed by steps. Have a great weekend and enjoy your journey on the M26.

    • @@tonys_workshop Sounds like I’m going to be probably right around eight cans as well with the etch primer. I’m on can number four and have a ways to go but I do have a lot of the big parts done. As far as getting it out of the basement, I did have a plan. My basement has a set of stairs that go directly out to the patio. And I have a 10 foot aluminum ramp that I plan to place across the stairs to drive it right out the basement directly outside. I also have a 6 foot aluminum ramp and I plan to place it on the workbench that I built to drive it off the table. I guess I’ll find out if this all works.

    • @@tonys_workshop Tony, I have a question unrelated to the bridge if you don't mind. When using the UPOL Acid Etch primer, every can I have used so far, about four of them, have spattered large drops of paint out the nozzle somewhat randomly. I can't seem to figure out why it does this. I am in a comfortable environment temperature wise. The only way I can somewhat control it, is if I don't do a long spray but rather do shorter bursts. It has been very frustrating, especially for such an expensive paint ($22 US dollars a can here). I can't find any other paint that is as good as this otherwise I would try another brand. I tried a Rustoleum Etch primer that does seem to work but takes much longer to dry and is oil based rather than lacquer based.

    • @@raymassa3751 Ray I have used Eastwood etch primer that I found very good. It’s an online shop here in the states. Mainly auto restoration supplies. I used it on my Tiger 1 about 8 years ago.

    • @@raymassa3751 Hi Ray. I had a similar problem also..Try this....Make sure you have a cloth or paper towel and wipe the nozzle after each spray pass and continually shake the can after each spray pass. I found that there was a build up of paint around the nozzle and this contributed to the spattering, but wiping the nozzle regularly definitely reduced this for me. Hope this helps.

  • Looking good Tony bud it's going to be big😁 l was/am a carpenter myself I personally would have used C24 timber much better for weather resistance. However I guess you will be painting it so not that much of a problem. I might Looking into knocking up a building possibly create a mini diorama Nice dewalt tools I'm a makita man myself and you are not wrong on how good modern tools are. Pershing are being shipped now so hopefully you won't have to wait long. Finally received my option paks, and hand set X9D flipping heck there are a lot of switches and buttons Lol Don't know where to start. As ever cracking work have a great weekend.

    @garyrafferty8653@garyrafferty8653 Жыл бұрын
    • Good morning Gary. I did contemplate using C24, but wanted to keep the budget down....I am sure that preservative I am using will help protect it....It is a big thing now, but really pleased I decided to build it as it adds another dimension to driving our tanks. I am hoping to receive my Pershing next week and really looking forward to unboxing it...I am also planning to build something along the lines of a bombed out building...I have a mould for the 1/6 scale bricks if you need to borrow it. There are a lot of electronics, but Armortek try and simplify by labelling up everything. Bench test is where I would start. Have a great weekend.
