Challenger 2 tanks have been ploughing through blizzard conditions as they take a snow patrol across the British Army's Nato Forward Holding Base in Sennelager.
The Arctic conditions in Germany pose no problem for warfighting units like the Royal Tank Regiment.
They are getting ready to become 12th Armoured Brigade Combat Team's lead battlegroup and, if required, need to be ready to deploy rapidly for sudden military operations.

The challengers are beast and I'm glad they fight on our side. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Absolutely love the Challenger 2 and can’t wait to see the Challenger 3 rolling out and about. Thank you Tank Regiment for your sacrifices you all do to protect us and our beautiful country 🏴🏴🏴(Northern Ireland) = 🇬🇧.
I am retired US Infantry. I believe that the Brits invented Chobam (sp?) armor which was/is revolutionary and defends freedom from the animals. Salute Cousins. If I, as foreigner, am proud of your tech and honor, perhaps you should be too.
Chob(h)am Dorchester armour, a related, but more advanced British design is also in use.
OK, demanding conditions, but arctic? Hello from north Norway
In uk it is 😂😂😂🇬🇧
It comes with a on board heater And glow sticks ✨️
Slightly frozen rain
Hello from Canada!
Hello from northern Australia
That brings back memories when I doing exercises at Sennelager during the 70's when I was in 2RTR, Badger Sqn in a Chieftain. Makes me wonder how we coped without a crew environmental control system which provides both heating and cooling for the crew compartment which they have in Challenger 2's.
Surely the boiler? heha
Thats easy you were younger.
The heater elements are not that effective , and air con has often leaked out as it is hard to source spare pipes lol
Like everyone else Froze your butt off
A good ol' British Army standard Lip, Stiff Upper. Stiff because your Tour Tache was frozen solid.
Ukrainians are motivated to eliminate barbarians in sleet, snow or whatever...thanks and gratitude to the British Army for their training of troops as well as their steely determination.
Bro Britain needs its tanks. There are less than 200 left lmao
@@Ultimate93V who cares, Russia needs these tanks.
@@hornpiper421 where did you pull this information from? as a british infanteer, i can promise you, snow, rain, harsh weather does not stop the british military...our equipment holds up just fine. you literally see a video presented to you of them training in the snow, so how can you say they wouldnt fight in it?
@VIPICCB8 Did you not actually watch the video?? 🤡
@VIPICCB8 oh look, a clueless Putin simp.
In Forces News We Trust
We just need to increase challenger numbers 2-4x, and we will be starting to talk.
Agree. We need to 2-4X our whole British Military.
I do agree 👍🏻. Unfortunately this will never happen. We will be lucky if they get 50 challenger 3 tanks. 😢
don't you believe in quality over quantity
@@taffiejames1496 they have confirmed at least 148 by 2030
@elijahmckenzie9207 🤞🏼let's hope they keep to that figure.
They can shrug off any weather
Considering the number of Challenger2 there is and the number of photos you have taken on Challengers, every Challenger tank must have been on film at least 2000 times!
0:13 “Arctic conditions” in Sennelager 😂 That’s what the Paderborn area is known for… like London.
Otterburn more like
Thanks Much !
Chally 2 such a beast
1" of snow is NOT a blizzard ! ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Blob B Well if I said to my work well can't come in because 1" of snow is a blizzard I would be out of work ! Same if a TV weather man came on TV one night and told everyone 1" of snow is a blizzard he or she would be laughed at ! ! People really to to STOP the BS PLEASE.
Educate yourself - there is NO part of the definition of "blizzard" that specifies a snow depth & in fact often the higher the wind speed the lesser the thickness of ground snow. While severe cold and large amounts of drifting snow may accompany blizzards, they are not required. Blizzards can bring white out conditions - a severe blizzard has winds over 72 km/h (45 mph), near zero visibility, and temperatures of −12 °C (10 °F) or lower.
@VIPICCB8 Yes it's just like the late 70's and early 80's ALL over again sadly !
Welcome back to the eighties and put some Dexys midnight runner's on in the turret.
@ jimcy131🇬🇧. No not dexys more Adam ant stand and deliver
@@da90sReAlvloc well I suppose he did dress like a gay Hussar.
Use to be able to do that at BATUS.
Wonder if the schnelly vans still know exactly where all British troops are before the officers do!
God that word brings back memories: "Eine Bratwurst & pommers bitte" "MIT Kartoffeln Salat" "UNT mayonnnaise" Scoffed out of cardboard with a wooden fork. Post 6 lagers ...
Take it that’s the British name for a gut/roach truck
Not exactly Tom, it's a British military term which comes from the 60 or so years we had UK personnel based in Germany. A "Schnelly van" is a corruption of fast food van (schnell being German for fast/rapid). There was a famous one on Soltau armoured training area, it's owner Wolfgang would know the exercise locations long before the Troop Commanders did and would be sat waiting in the appropriate location when the tanks pulled up!
Ugh! I know what that can be like. But not as a soldier in a war. Respect!
This is what makes us the best and most elite of elite
Reality on the ground might prove otherwise. Keep playing with fire.
@@Ekcelent Lmao
It's just a shame we're so few, and with barely enough ammo or spare parts to fight for long!
Der Herrgott schuf in seinem Zorn ,das Sennelager bei Paderborn !
"General Winter is our friend" Stalin. Tiny Putin forgot but Ukraine didn't. 😆😆😆😆Tiny Putin
where's wolfgang
Haha. Reading the arm chair warriors remarks is the best bit of these Vids. As ex military and been in 2 conflicts, i can tell you the UK is in a safe place surrounded by NATO countries. The UK doesn't need to have a standing army or Armoured assets like a lot of eastern European countries do. Also its too small so relies on standoff higher gen equipment. They don't fight a ww2 style of fight. No small country does that wants to survive.
How is the heat in those tanks? Seriously!
Demanding conditions……BATUS…..aka Alberta…hold my beer 🍺. Cheers 🍻, take care and stay frosty ☃️ 🫵🤟🇨🇦🫡🇬🇧🫵🤟☃️
Britain needs more, a lot more.
No no. TC, then gunner, then driver and low man is loader
Every tank comes with a free Mrs Doyle
LOL - cam cream for the camera! I bet most of those guys have never actually applied cam cream 😂
Why have they got scrim on their helmets? Surely they don’t need it instead of a tank
OOOOO!! Three centimeters of near-zero degree fluffy snow. What an AWESOME four season vehicle!
3 days only
60 tonne vehicle in deep mud? Are we stupid?
Yes but no one is shooting anti tank weapons at them.
"Artic conditions"... come on there is 2cm of snow xD
Did you mean Arctic? Artic is short for articulated, as in a lorry (truck)
Oi!
The Uk has only 830000k armed forces personnel we are not ready for war. Love the tank though
UK: We have 158k plus around 30k reserves
Yes. It's quite a small country in comparison though isn't it. Granted our numbers should be higher. But we don't really require massive armed forces at present.
Most important the BV 😂
All ten of them 😢
This war has shows the UK is totally out of touch with the reality of the military equipment we need and the amount military personnel to operate them. It shows we don't enough Challenger 2 tanks in operation and round 200 isn't enough. The same with all the forces RAF and RN. The UK Gov't have cut and hollowed out the Navy, Army and RAF. We have little or no defence system in operating. The retirement of awacs in 2021 means we have no birds in the sky and the next will not be available till 2027. Was it very problematic to retire awacs too early? I believe so. We retire all our equipment to early. The same with all UK military assets.
Well, that's Tory governments for you - they keep offering tax cuts (mainly to the most wealthy in the country) then say that we can't afford things like the NHS or a decent-sized Army with a straight face. Hopefully the last couple of years will have caused enough people to rethink whether they want to support such a bunch of unethical grifters that they get kicked out at the next election. That said, I can't say as any of the rest of 'em are very inspiring.
We run our equipment into the ground in the Army and don't have a programme of continuous improvement like the U.S. has leading to our gear becoming obsolete much quicker. At least the RN does upgrades to it's ships regularly and the RAF updates it's aircraft and Ordinance. It's like the Army is run by imbeciles by comparison.
We will never know Chandlers if they don't arrive in Ukraine were it counts.
Embrace the suck.
Theres like 1 whole inch of snow 😂
Better stop for a brew. 😁
Tank is impressive but journalism is embarrassing 1cm snow layer "Arctic" fire the publisher and the so called journalist
He's from Grand Cayman. 😅
I blame central heating and fully-carpeted houses. Some of the current generation should try experiencing a winter without such things, then they wouldn't call such conditions "arctic"
You don't need lots of snow to have arctic conditions. Check your facts.
🇬🇧👌
Use them on the uks coast line not 1000’s of miles away / what a load of rubbish
First
Tanks have two speeds. WFO, and. STOPPED
We've got a paltry 120 odd Challenger 2's and we've handed over 5% (half a dozen) to the Ukrainians. You couldn't make it up.
Your numbers are wrong. We have 227 operational Challys, plus 75 in storage. We're sending 14 to Ukraine and personally I hope we send them a few more.
@@ThePostie501 There is NO where near 227 there might have been 20 years or more ago but NOT now.
I know it's a joke £3 Billion Pounds per year for Ukraine to kill a few Russians at any price. But the women, kids, gays and other were left in Afghanistan to be KILLED by the Taliban because we were told there was no more money to help them ?? Now people are bitching about them coming to the UK in rubber boats ! I lost £30,000.00 this year thanks to the UK Gov and the other year I burned more than £25,000.00 in kindling wood to waste after the UK Gov told people to stop using wood for cooking and heating. Can't pay £400.00 a month rent on a building to keep it dry for up to eight years if you can't sell it ! Thank you
The British Army has only 157 operational Challenger 2 tanks as of this year but we do have some that aren’t operational in storage but they are not counted as they are not operational plus it might be less than 157 now as we are sending 14 to Ukraine which soon will have a bigger military than us lol 😂.
@@Jib230181 Yes because in the future the UK will have just over one hundred of them as the Challenger 3 is NOT a new tank but just a Challenger 2 updated the Gov has already said there is only going to be just over one hundred of them and that's it. Thank you.
