“Stargirl” from Disney+ is a tender and offbeat coming-of-age story based on the critically-acclaimed, New York Times’ best-selling young adult novel about an unassuming high schooler who finds himself inexplicably drawn to the free-spirited new girl, whose unconventional ways change how they see themselves…and their world.

Except the only problem is there is an underlying feeling of superiority with people who are “just being themselves” and at the same time have total dependency on the way they dress and the music they listen to instead of their actual character. Saying “I’m different” implies everyone else is the same which is not true because all people are complex and three dimensional people not archetypes. The very idea of “standing out” inherently produces conflict, it divides people into us vs them. In reality we all live in a shared community and we all have individual experiences and traits that are unique. Shit like this is dumb and really only exists in fiction, it’s problematic tho when real people try to adopt it because they couldn’t find friends in the seventh grade
Carrot Cake Lmao I think the movie went way over your head, it ain’t that deep. And saying there’s an “underlying feeling of superiority” or that ppl have to depend on the way they dress/music is just an assumption, and generalization you’re making. It has nothing to do about trying to stand out, it’s just being true to yourself and not having to feel pressured by societal norms to act a certain way.
"you like stargirl." "i don't really know her" *"BUT IF YOU DID, YOU MIGHT"* the one bit of reasoning every rom-com, cartoon or japanese manga seems to ignore.

This was one of the few books to completely devastate me; I can't wait to see this.
The male lead in this is the guy who plays young Shaun Murphy on The Good Doctor and the scenes he’s done have been amazing.
Kinda ironic that Grace was called a "shooting star" by Howie Mandell in the finals of America got talent when she won it -_-
78B You say that like you’re annoyed?
@@issyzh I'm sorry, I'm not annoyed its probably just my bad english. :)
Gosh, this is a present from the universe for sure. I loved this book as a kid and gave it to someone I fondly loved as well. If anything, small presents like this are what's worth living for.
