  • I searched for this director after seeing the comments. So Alice Wu got her computer science degree from Stanford, worked for Microsoft, and created her first movie during working. That is the most Asian thing I ever saw.

    • @@lilysgf16 Right? It'd be super misleading if they put that in and still had her relationship with the guy get sexual. The trailer doesn't make the show seem sexualized in the first place, so I'd be shocked if it went down that path. On top of that, the writer/director/producer is a lesbian and the MC seems to be partly based on her. Also it'd be annoying; the world needs more platonic girl/boy friendships, not every MC has to hook up with the MC of the opposite sex.

An Asian-American lesbian lead, for teenagers, like where the hell does one find that. I know it looks just like Sierra Burgess, but I feel like we should give it a chance, and I'm honestly so excited for this level of representation. Also, a male and female friendship is being put on screen without any romantic elements, though she is lesbian which happens to be almost every non romantic male and female friendship, one of them is always gay but still a great step.

I am loving the actress for Ellie, she looks different from the typical Hollywood Asian actresses, more like actual Asian girls that I have seen on streets and stuff. Her voice is super surprising and lovely, and she played her part with a nice subtlety.

Love is not bound to gender it's all about the connection between two souls and that unsaid love between Ellie and Aster was the evidence! Every sec of this movie was worth watching!! Loved the ending.

  • When you lost all hope for movies about teens. When you thought that there will never be such an amazing teen movie like Breakfast club. Just stupid cliche something. And then The Half Of It showed up. It's not a typical young adult movie. It's something more. Something deep, sensitive and alive. Movie not only about love. About friendship, understanding. And I love. With all my heart. And I'm gratefull for movie like this. I hope there will be more. Not another Kiss Booth or same empty stuff. But something truly deep.
