Disney’s “Hollywood Stargirl” is a sequel to the 2020 Disney+ film about free spirit Stargirl Caraway (Grace VanderWaal), a silver-voiced teenager whose simple acts of kindness work magic in the lives of others. The upcoming film follows Stargirl’s journey out of Mica, Arizona and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibilities. When her mother Ana (Judy Greer) is hired as the costume designer on a movie, they relocate to L.A., where Stargirl quickly becomes involved with an eclectic assortment of characters. They include aspiring filmmaking brothers Evan (Elijah Richardson) and Terrell (Tyrel Jackson Williams); Mr. Mitchell (Judd Hirsch), one of Stargirl’s neighbors; and Roxanne Martel (Uma Thurman), a musician Stargirl admires and encounters on her journey.
Returning as Stargirl, VanderWaal performs the original song “Figure It Out” she wrote for the film. Julia Hart returns to direct. Hart & Jordan Horowitz wrote the original script, based on the original character from Jerry Spinelli’s best-selling book Stargirl. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, p.g.a. (“The Maze Runner” trilogy), Lee Stollman, p.g.a.(“All Together Now”) and Jordan Horowitz, p.g.a. (“La La Land”) are the producers, with Kristin Hahn, Nathan Kelly and Jerry Spinelli serving as executive producers.

Wow looks so beautifully done! So Uma teaches Stargirl to make her own music. In first movie Grace pretty much played herself as Stargirl. Now Stargirl is becoming Grace VanderWaal ☺️ Can’t wait!

Wow. Okay the first one I didn’t really like for having that guardian angel trope. But doing the story FROM the guardian character’s perspective?! I LOVE THAT. Update: Saw it, loved it. Not as deep as I wanted it to be but that’s alright. It was still very feel good and nice. I’ve watched it three times now and can’t wait to watch it more when I need something to cheer me up.

The first movie was based on Jerry Spinelli's book of the same name, which was published in 2000. Like the book, the first Stargirl movie was told from Leo's point of view.
You should check out the novel that is the sequel to the original Stargirl novel. This movie sequel isn't based on the book sequel, but it kinda has the same vibe, focusing on the guardian angel's perspective and seeing what makes her tick. It's called "Love, Stargirl"

grace vanderwaal made up my childhood, when the last star girl came out I was a totally different persona and now its just makes me smile to see a second movie
the song that stargirl is singing at the beginning it’s called “love and mercy” written and recorded originally by brian wilson. its such an underrated track and i’m so happy to hear her singing it, introducing the song to a whole new generation of people.
Brian Wilson is not underrated, most of his songs where hits plus the beach boys, so you want him to be richer because of a few songs that are _underrated_.
I miss you Stargirl. I met this movie just 1 year ago and I was inspired by her life and way to think. So Disney, please bring back our Stargirl!!
Reason why I really liked Stargirl and going to see this sequel is because of the cinematography. From the beautiful Arizona desert to the alleyways of LA, these films give out the perfect vibes.
These are the kinds of movies that I like to see from Disney, they have a lot of heart.

@@dazz8676 i think is not, cause the characters in this new one are not the same as previous movie and imo the story of new movie will likely to start new journey of stargirl in new place a.k.a Hollywood (after gone away to nowhere in the ending of previous movie). And imo this time the story will be more focusing and exposing on stargirl background and her things after she just being mysterious girl came out of nowhere helping people with their own problem in previous movie
I knoww righttt, it makes me remember on how leo looked so admiring and falling in love with stargirl. Time they spend together like kissing,singing,yelling..Those scene are just beautiful. And now I also miss him so badly plss😭😭. And for new love relationship i still don't know abt it yet

This is a huge shift from Love Star Girl which was a really incredible story. I wonder why they didn’t just go with that? The story of her going to a different small town where everyone takes care of Evan other and the ending chapter about the equinox was truly incredible. It would have been great to say that on screen.

As someone who loved those books as a child and dreamed about that experience, this whole concept disgusts me. Why commercialize a character who's point is to stand out. The book Stargirl would be completely lost by who this person is.

Grace exudes so much sweetness and genuine innocence mixed with exuberance. Just a short trailer is all it takes for that to come through. I wish her all the best as this movie hopefully takes off. She is one of a kind. The cast looks good too.

Hello, I just would like to ask why are both of the star girl movies going to be taken off of Disney+ soon ? Can these movies please be released to Blu-ray and DVD ?
This is common on all streaming platforms. Stuff gets removed all of the time. The bottom line is that Disney and other platforms will need to pay licensing fees and other royalties to the creators. This is even true for original content that a platform produces. If a particular title is costing them more than it is bringing in, it will get removed. There is also a cost associated with producing a Blu-ray or DVD and it is very unlikely to generate enough sales to make it worthwhile, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

Of course she is. She was the main draw to the first movie besides fans of the first book. The author, Jerry Spinelli himself, said that she IS Stargirl. There's no way they could replace her.

She's kicking off her career again with the two singles she released last year, followed by her starring in this movie, then her EP release and eventually a planned tour.
