Join me as I set off on another epic tank build. This time the incredible 1/6 scale Hetzer or Jagdpanzer 38 tank by Armortek.
In this video - Thankfully the weather has improved and I begin the process of painting my brilliant Hetzer. I prep, clean and apply the primer coats and top costs of the base colour ahead of working on the Camo Scheme.
Hope you enjoy

A spritz of colour and she comes alive!
Tony: One step closer and definitely taking shape as an ideal piece. Glad that your fans here are getting to watch its progress and all your side chats on it. Kudos to you!!!
Thanks Bill. Almost there. I have completed the Camo scheme and really pleased with the results...video up next week and now on to weathering and finalising the setting out of the electronics.
Thanks for the update, Tony. Very enjoyable watching you rushing about to make the most of the sunshine😉Incredible the progress you've made, it's come along in leaps and bounds over the past couple of videos. Looking forward to the next instalment, as always. Cheers👍
Thanks Keith and great to hear from you. Just completed the Camo scheme...video up next week. How are you getting on with your build?
Unfortunately my M26 build has stalled since before Easter while the builders and painters have been working on my driveway and garage. Should be able to get back to it soon though, and I've started to think again about RC stuff. Never a dull moment! Cheers👍
It's amazing how putting some paint on a kit can suddenly bring it to life, looking great Tony.
Thank you and I totally agree....painting these kits, really do start to transform the look...Next weeks video is all about the Camo scheme and I have to say, it has come out better than I expected. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
The Hetzer is slowly gaining character. But the Pershing, I'm a little in love😍😁
Thank you, yes my little Hetzer is slowly coming to life...The Camo scheme is also now complete...video up next week. The Pershing I have to agree...it is my absolute favourite...I love the way it looks and drives....This will be staying in my collection for sure.
So great to see this one coming alive! The Tiger video was great too!
Thank you...I have just completed the Camo scheme and now have this fully operational...videos up next week. Thank you also for your continued support.
looking good , i have enjoyed watching these videos , and look forward to seeing the land rover
Thank you Alex and your support is very much appreciated. Camo scheme now completed and video up next week.
@@tonys_workshop i look forward to seeing it
👀looking good.
Thanks Steve...almost there with this one. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
good job, painting has started and that means the tank project is almost finished, thanks for the video👌👍
Almost done thanks Daniel....Camo scheme up next week and then on to the final part...weathering and sorting out the electronics.
Nice to see the basecoat going on. I did mine exactly the same, only using red oxide primer over the etch primer. Where I stalled was the camo scheme but I have a plan now so when it warms up a bit I'll apply it.
Hi Daniel, thank you. Yes I was relieved to get that complete...I have now also completed my Camo scheme...video up next week and today completed the paint weathering...It has really come to life now. I love this kit.
Nothing to complain about watching a shorter than usual video! Happy to see the weather did improve a lot on your island, hehe… 😉 Seeing the tiny Hetzer next to the Persing it comes to my mind that back then nobody wasted a thought on crew comfort and safety. Thin armour and a cramped working space. Aweful. Hope the weather will allow you to apply the camouflage soon. Although, cannot wait to see the unboxing of the Landrover!
Thank you...yes...we had one day where the sun actually showed up🤣 It is striking when you see the Hetzer against the M26 or even the Tiger...There was a crew of three in this....can't imagine what it would have been like....The crews referred to theses as 'armoured coffins' and I can see why. I have now completed my camo scheme...video up next week and working through some paint weathering. I will be unboxing the rover soon. Thanks for your continued amazing support.
Nicely done Tony!
Thank you. Camo scheme now also completed. Video up next week.
Looking good, buddy
Thanks Ray...getting there slowly...Camo scheme now complete and looking awesome..(I think)😀 Video up next week.Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Why didn't you elevate the gun mount? To make sure that you got paint under the gun. Just wondering!
Thanks for watching and commenting...I can see why you would think this, however I did elevate the gun mount manually...this film was edited and time-lapsed, as the whole painting sequence took 12 hours. Hope this answers your question.
First ,perks of working nights😮
😀
The Hetzer looked so puny next to the Pershing in your opening sequence it's hard to get your head around it until you see them side by side.
I know😂. The Pershing 'Lords' over the Hetzer, but that is part of its appeal to me. Just finished the Camo scheme and it looks pretty good (i think😀) Video up next week. I will definitely do a film with all three so we can see them close up.
Very nice work
Thank you...Camo scheme up next week.
Hi tony great to see you finally got round to paint .I did notice the absence of the tiger, does this mean she's gone to a good home .all the best to the family and have a great weekend.
Hi Steve and thank you. No..the Tiger is still here, just out of the camera view. There are a few people interested and I am sure it is only a matter of time, but while waiting, I will defo do another driving video with all three. Have a great weekend.
Hello again Tony and great work with the painting. Now i havent commented in a while and thats because i've been totally invested in my Leopard 2 and me too is getting ready for the first paint job. Its of the lower hull, rear and front plate and the road wheels. I have the paint i want but have to wait until monday for the primer. Now i have a question (dont think you mentioned it in the video, sorry if you did), so did you sand your Hetzer (or any of your tanks) prior to painting? Just wonder if its something i have to do on my Leopard or if its unnecessary. Already spent 2 days cleaning the parts and would love to save some time haha. //Kris
Hi Kris, great to hear from you and glad to hear that you are well underway with your Leopard...Sounds like you are tackling the painting sequence the way I would approach it. In terms of cleaning and prepping for paint, you are doing exactly the right thing...de-grease and clean everything thoroughly. I tend to prime the parts first (using etching primer) then check the finish ahead of applying the top coats...I then lightly sand down areas which I feel require smoothing off, clean and wipe over, one more final primer coat and then apply the top coats. Hope this helps.
Hi Tony what make of sprays are you using for the base coat dunkelgleb ? Thank Derek
Hi Derek, sent you an email.
Now for the foundation and cammo make up
Thanks Mark, oh yes...video up next week showing the application of the Camo scheme.
@@tonys_workshop any weathering
Yes...looking at this today and also finalising the electronics...Fingers crossed I don't mess it up.
Excellent work. Tony, do you paint the internal superstructure or leave it bare metal?
Hi and thank you. I painted the inside of the lower hull on this as there are no torsion bars, but it is not really necessary. I didn't paint the inside of the Tiger or the Pershing. Thanks also for watching and commenting.
I thought undercoat was red or pink ??
On the real things it was, I used red oxide over the etch primer on mine but it doesn't really matter unless you were going to do a unfinished from the factory scheme.
I used grey etch primer then a second coat of normal grey primer. I used red primer on the M26, but as Daniel says, it doesn't really matter what base primer colour you use, if you are going on to finish in a camo or similar scheme. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thank you
Tony, once again an informative video - it’s like watching the transformation of a pupa into a butterfly, or perhaps more succinctly, a tadpole into a slightly eccentric duckling! It’s going to be superb when the camouflage goes on and all the fittings are attached and a swan emerges from an angry teenage duckling 🤣
Thanks Peter, much appreciated. I am really pleased with how this build has turned out. Camo scheme now complete ...video up later this week and I have just completed all the paint weathering and setting up of the electronics this weekend...video also up on this soon. I have to admit, I had my own reservations on my choice, but really happy with this and now stands its ground amongst my small collection. Have a great week and thank you for your continued support.
