Oh he is a wealth of ancient knowledge! I’d love to just listen to his stories, his adventures and knowledge of the ancient world.
Maybe another few hours. I’d be in listening forever.
You said it eloquently! 👍
I agree completely, wish they could do small vignette vlogs with him from time to time
I was entirely overwhelmed. As an appreciator and collector, I will need to watch this video a few times to fully understand. I could not believe the number of precious pieces collected and displayed so beautifully. Thank you Stephanie and Phillip for this amazing video of a portion of Ivo's collection and chateau.
Same here! You expressed exactly how I was feeling. Thankyou!!!!
Let’s all hope that this archipelago of culture is never disbanded and scattered. Such a marvellous place and Ivo so generous. Thank you for the peek into his home and life.
Oh my!! An Extraordinary man and his castle !! He is a walking treasure and recepticle of such breadth of knowledge. It's so heartening to come across people who are interested in cultures and histories far beyond their own!!!! I shall read his book for sure.
Would love to see more of the Chateau rather than just focus on his collections...
I am really interested in Ivo himself. I would love to hear his family's history and his story of becoming a friar in the Holy Land then leaving and ending up in China. Such a fascinating history.
Me too, how on earth can you collect so many antieks that are so extremely rare to find ? He must be soooo rich ?
@@ilserules old families have money and money can buy almost anything. What it can't buy are the stories and memories along with the experience that make us who we are.
@Joanna Burger Old Account Judging by the stories he is telling about his family, they are old money. The history of his family would probably explain it pretty well.
He must be prince of Andorra or something like that.
@Joanna Burger Old Account I was thinking the exact same thing
of COURSE he’s a crime writer. This is basically like stepping into “Knives out” or an Agatha Christie. The Batcave, the skeletons in the floor(??), the large collection of asian artefacts...the stories basically write themselves
The true treasure of this castle is it’s owner! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful man and his treasures with us Stephanie.
I would love to hear how and why he became a Franciscan Monk and reason why he vacated the order. As well the history of his family.... He lives in a museum.
I was just thinking that myself as I watched the clog!
Dear Gilbert. Lady Stephanie know the whole history. I am sure she will explain if asked. thanks and regards. Ivo
@@ivofornesa513 If ever you write your biography, I would love to read it.
Ivo should invest in a falcon to clear off the pigeons!
WOW just WOW! A most interesting person and he truly is living, in a "living Museum". I want to know so much more about him, his family and all the treasures he's accumulated over his lifetime. You really are the best vlogger on the net Stephanie. You give us so much interesting content. A big Thank-you to you and all the Lalanders for making this possible.
i think i learned history more from Ivo's descriptions about his treasures than from the whole year in high school
As a former art dealer I love seeing the homes of real collectors and how they display their passions. Thanks for sharing this incredible chateau and its unique, fascinating owner.
Stefanie you are taking us to another level with the access your friends are giving to their homes and lives. As usual your enthusiasm and humour are appreciated. You never travel without your machete , Why would anyone leave home without it ?One last thing, the sight of that carpet under the antique bed was a treat.
Absolutely incredible collection...truly overwhelming. Ivo seems to have lived many lives in his lifetime: monk, married man and father, and the list goes on. Of all the objets you highlighted today, I love the orientalized portrait of his wife and daughters the best! What a work! Thanks for sharing!
I missed this part
I wonder where his wife and daughters are now, he said he was alone, when he went to show the wine cellar
@@starsparkle999 I thought the same thing
This is absolutely wonderful. Ivo is my dear friend and I know positively how he contributes to the conservation of historical places and objects, for the good of humanity. Congratulations for the interview!!!
What an extraordinary man and his castle! I’d like to hear more about his time spent as a “monk”. Such an interesting life he has had and is still having
This is truly overwhelming. I wish more people could get in touch with the history that this chateau represents. There is such a richness in the textures of lives represented here from all over the world. Give me a Franciscan history professor any day!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING !!!
What an enchanting Chateau! Among all the other Chateau tours this is the first where I feel the current owner is not just a restorer or decorator, rather he is the Master adding more layers of mystery ,myth and history to the 1600 + years that are yet to unfold!!!
Wow! Ivo’s castle is amazing. His collections… I don’t have words. How lucky that you are able to visit and see it with your own eyes. Thanks for showing us. Can’t wait to see part 2.
I was GLUED to my phone while watching this!! Absolutely FASCINATING!!!! I loved every minute of the history, the culture and the beautiful things!!! I'm just in complete awe of this gentleman and his family and all the things he knows!! Absolutely LOVED it!!! Thank you soooooo much!!
try watching on a large screen desk-top computer and get the real view and see the details. I am dying. All this glorious history from all over the world and the owner curating and so knowledgeable about it all. Part 2 is even better!
what a wonderful castle with all the historic treasures in it and the knowledge of its owner is faboulus, looking so much forward to watch and listen to the next weeks vlog about this……so interesting….
I think I sat through this whole vlog with my mouth open in pure astonishment at such an awesome collection of artefacts and the history behind them. Thank you.
What an incredibly interesting yet humble man, Ivo is?! It was brilliant to see his chateau full of amazing artefacts and I could listen to him explaining their origins all day long! Looking forward to part 2 next week👌
OMG what a fascinating person and his chateau is absolutely amazing, what a collection!
This is by far one of the most comprehensive collection I’ve seen so far! The owner is quite knowledgeable and the home is spectacular. Thank you for sharing him to the world.
I really like the format you are using for now- Tuesday and Thursday at my “home “ chateau and Sundays visiting at another chateau home. Although Michael was unable accompany you as I originally thought, Phillip is the PERFECT wingman! I hope chateau Gudanes is on your list…it looks so lovely in its chateau shabby chic videos. And the chateau of George Sand and Chopin. Thank you for taking us on these lovely tours but sparing my aching back and feet, not to mention my pocketbook!
Dear Stephanie, I think it's time for the BBC to offer you a program! Your videos are getting better and better, today's was another revelation, bravo! Best wishes, X
I hope she says NO if they do.
@@arnicepernice8656 and @Snoopy She loves filming Escape to the chateau and I think it would be great for her independence and very beneficial for Lalande. So while I understand your sentiment, I find it very selfish. BBC would be a wonderful recognition for her. Maybe you are not aware of what the BBC epitomises in Europe when it comes to quality documentary making and the tradition of wonderful cultural programming.
@@arnicepernice8656 OK, I understand your political position, in my view it has no relevance when it comes to the quality of programming of art history and culture. Channel 4 is not even in the same league, and I am sure a little competition is only beneficial for the viewers, Stephanie owes no loyalty to them. But I celebrate freedom of speech, so I do respect your opinion, even if I can only disagree with it.
There’s really no words to say how interesting this vlog was in fact it’s the first one I’ve watched several times. Your so lucky to have see his home he is truely an amazing man I could listen to his voice for ages please pass on my thanks from Australia 🇦🇺
Ivo is so fascinating!! Such an interesting life. His castle is spectacular. Please let him know how much we appreciate his hospitality!!
INCREDIBLE and AMAZING chateau, the man and his life. My favourite part was seeing the portraits of his family and ancestors.Thank you Ivo for your generous spirit. Many thanks to you Stephanie for taking us on this amazing historical tour. 🌈Excited to watch the second part!
You ever see someone and just hear a bit about them and you just know they are the most interesting person. This man Ivo is this to me. He probably has stories for days and days
What an amazing episode! I was so disappointed when it ended. I'm so glad you decided to turn it into two rather than condense it into one and exclude the wonderful stories behind his collections. I can't wait for next week. Thanks you and Ivo for sharing.
What a fabulous castle! And this gentleman is so full of knowledge and passion! What an interesting episode Stephanie! You could be there a year and not see everything in his collections! Thank you for the peek inside this treasure!
What a treat! I was hoping we would see more of this man. An interview someday? He’s fascinating.
Wow someone should write a book just about his life. Are his wife and daughters still around?
I am curious about that also.
I was wondering the same thing....where is his wife and daughters?.....He said he was alone, when he was showing the wine cellar. He has a home in Thailand and in Barcelona. I wonder what other places he has homes in....
Dear Evelyn. Wife and daughters and son well and alive. They live here before but for studies and sport this was a little complicated. My wife drive 132 kms daily to took them to schools and here is nice but complicated: few schools, almost no doctors or medical care, no sports facilities...in Bangkok much easier.and funnier. Before COVID i visit them every two months and they come for summer holidays and Christmas. Now is becoming very difficult and thanks God my daughter Kor gave a nice phone with this wasap thing and we can talk and see one to each other. thanks and regards. Ivo
So good to hear thanks
I love how he has carefully restored each and every space by respecting the architecture of the chateau and at the same time showcasing his treasures from all over the world with a carefully chosen decoration that varies from room to room to keep your eyes awaiting to be amazed again and again. Better than a museum I would say ! Wow ! Even having the resources, I can't imagine how many years of his life have been devoted to this huge project!
The Chateau is fascinating. But the real interest in this video is the owner!
I dont even know what to say! Or where to Begin!! What a fascinating man and life. A serious thank you for sharing him and his Chateau. He could have an entire KZhead channel just picking an item from a room and talking about it. I have honestly never seen a collection of items as interesting as his not even in some of the best museums. WOW....
“I never know where to put my samurais either”! Stephanie you are so gorgeous! That had me giggling for ages! Reverent but hysterical.!
I am watching in awe. Spectacular château and the collections of antiques! A museum, no less. This gentleman is remarkably intelligent and fascinating! Can't wait for the second part...
Absolutely incredible........and the most fascinating man.........
Evo is a modern day renaissance man.
Its amazing the amount of monasteries and convents that became chateaux. My friend owns one of them. Incidently, he found human remains in his place as well. This place was amazing, but, I wouldn't want to dust it lol
Literally my idea of heaven. The History preserved in this place!!
I just read the book last week so it’s fascinating to see the chateau and the author!
Wow....this was fantastic and so interesting....thank you Stephanie and Philip for taking us on this amazing tour!!
Wow!!! This is simply one of your best vlogs!! Chateau de St. Chartier is quite amazing. What a treasure trove of awesome historical pieces. The owner of the Chateau is a wonderful presenter of a truly world class collection. Thanks!!!
Every single item, he knows the story and he's very generous with them, I love that he touches them, they're not just for display. A very interesting man.
his collection are not antiques, these are artifacts. Amazing to see and learn about. What and interesting person and a beautiful chateau.
I'm absolutely speechless!!! Fascinating, stunning, mesmerizing, exotic, transforming, vastly educational, historical, gorgeously beautiful, are just but a few of the words that come to mind and still, I feel as they don't touch on the vast collection of descriptive words available to describe this enormously extraordinary castle! I feel SO fortunate to be part of Stephanie's channel so I could come here virtually! Teresa
What a treasure house! The most interesting tour so far IMO.
If only my Texas brain could understand what he was saying I'm sure I would learn a great deal.
Those cavernous rooms echo and Ivo has a thick accent, it's a strain, and I like accents. I noticed that even at La Lande's indoor vlogs.
My fault dear Native Texan. I must learn to vocalize and to talk slower. One of my daughters went to college in Texas and i was tremendously jealous they have Rodeo as sport in the school. Thanks and regards Ivo
Such an amazing and interesting Man , Castle and artifacts. Stunningly beautiful. Enjoyed. Anxious to see more. Love to all ❤
I just rewatch the diaries from the beginning and just look the one where Isabelle and Stephanie visit Ivo during the first lockdown. Imagine my wonder, when I step late into this premiere and met Ivo again. Feel like a timelapse. What a wonderful home full with treasures! How happy you are to visit him and explore everything. Looking forward for next Sunday to follow you again through this jewelbox of a Chateau!
@irene meitz Which interview please? Do you have the title?
Wait...I could not have missed that but yet....hmmm. going back now for the 3rd time through her videos 😋
Would you be so kind as to post a link to that earlier video with Isabelle and Stephanie please, or let us know the title, thanks so much.
What a collection and interesting stories. This man needs to write a memoir!
Fascinating - love to hear about all the history and to see all of Ivo's collections.
A fabulous tour and video as always! Thanks Stephanie and Philip.
Oh my heavens! This was truly amazing. He is just amazing and his home is wonderous. Thank you for showcasing it and please extend our appreciation for his taking the time to be so generous. I am eagerly awaiting next week. 💟
My first reaction.. Wow, just wow. And then comes my down to earth reaction... How on earth do they dust all these things😂😂😂
😂😂. So practical, it never entered my mind that things would need dusting
Litsa, Litsa. your family name sounds like Greek or Finnish, great one in fact. This seems to be one of the aspects many people feel curious. I do dust but myself everything but is also good the camera did not check in deep around. Thanks and regards. Ivo
@@ivofornesa513 it really doesn't matter😀 you are truly blessed to live amongst such beauty ❤️ and yes I am greek. 🥰
What an incredible Castle. Can't wait till next week!
What an interesting man! I feel like he could write volumes of stories from his life. Look forward to seeing more of the château and hearing more about his life!
Absolutely fascinating! Roll on next week!
Such an interesting man! Can't wait for next week's continuation!🌷
What an amazing man with a wondrous life story . . . . fascinating! WOW!!! Thank you for doing this !
Wow. This is incredible. His collections are amazing and priceless. So much artifacts. And his knowledge.
Oh wow!!! This was such an amazing tour 😍 Can’t wait for the next episode.
What an amazing man, amazing castle and a brilliant vlog. Thank you !
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Can't wait for next episode. Such an interesting man and his history and knowledgeable about all his wonderful treasure. I sat entranced from start to finish then replayed. Thank you so much for you Sunday treats, Stephanie (and Phillip of course). Please thank Ivo. XxAlex
Wow! This place is a museum! He could charge money for tours maybe 6 hours a day 3 days a week. Have a B&B on the weekends. Had to play this over 3x! Excellant Find Stephanie! Would love to hear Ivo's whole life story. Amazing.
The hotels and business towers, in our cities were inundated with pigeons but now they have specialty treated corn they put out on the roofs and gutters and it makes them hallucinate so they don’t come back. Stops the birds from crapping all down the buildings. It’s crazy , I can remember when there were hardly any pigeons in our city but they obviously have few predators because the city is overrun and even the suburbs are starting to get more and more of them. Maybe he could get some hallucinogenic corn for his pigeons, cheater than the processes he spoke of.......unless they like being stoned. Gorgeous Chateau , so many beautiful collections. Thanks for taking us along. 🙋🏼
@@equatorialjourney4478 my grandfather had carrier pigeons during WW2
Dear Jillippeper...Hallucinogenic corn...what an interesting idea. Probably some politics will need it too in order to become more creative. Pigeons and crows are a nightmare but some of the first ends sometime in my stomach. Thanks and regards. Ivo
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You!!!!! Looking forward to next Sunday s video.
Amazing, so rich in history and art,Ivo's Chateau.he is such an interesting man 😍👍🏼🌟
WOW!!!! I wasn’t expecting that! What a wealth of history and knowledge. Thanks sooooo much 😀

Wow…..what a treat that was…..history of the world tour by a most humble host….thank you for this. Stephanie please thank Ivo for his generous tour and time, now it’s time for a glass of Amarone and some tagliatelle con tartuffo…. And big hello from Largo D’ Garda, Italy…..Ciao Ivo, Stephanie
Amazing!!! Love the tour
Absolutely mind boggling. A Fabulously beautiful treat. Thank you.
Thank you Stephanie and Philip for bringing us such a fascinating tour with Ivo. I could have listened and watched for hours. Ivo has clearly had such an interesting life. Looking forward to the next episode. Have a lovely day.
Ivo is such an interesting gentleman! He has collected so many interesting pieces and I very much admire the way he has displayed his collection. He would make a wonderful museum curator. Like Phillip, I was especially drawn to the painting of his wife and children and to the photograph of his father with the king of Spain. Can’t wait to see the rest of the chateau!
Truly amazing! Thank you for taking us along!
I´ll just say amazing! Thank you, Stephanie for letting us know about such a unique person and his collections! Love it !
Cant wait for the library and the bedrooms wow what an amazing video ! To live amongst those amazing things !
I am in awe. It is wonderful that Ivo has collected all these beautiful pieces. Priceless.
This has been the best video ever. So pleased there is more to come.

Just wonderfull, all I could think of was the dusting and cleaning !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much Evo so gracious of you! Stephanie this has already been a tremendous experience; looking forward to next week with you all again.
The chateau is similar to a museum with influences from all over the world! 🌍
