  • Its so strange to see a newspaper from Thüringen in your Chateau my homeland. I wish us all peace and leaders who seek it.

  • Dear Tim, if I may, the duc d'Orléans was not the Louis XV's brother, but his cousin 🙂 Louis XV had no brother or sister 🙂 The Orléans family took its roots from Louis XIV's brother, Philippe (1640/1701). The Orléans were the richest family in France. Apart from that, as I wrote on an other video, congratulations and thanks for the passion you have in this huge work of restoration. You and your wife are just wonderful and amazing ! You bought probably one of the most exquisite and beautiful château in France.

  • Wonderful to be able to trace the history, and to find the evidence of the fire screens and old copper kitchen ware, the old newspapers... and the wallpapers that tell the story too. Very precious. The Chateau is going to be beautiful. What a wonderful project.

  • The thing I love most about the stately homes and Chateaux of France, are their incredible stories! They are architecturally stunning and beautiful indeed but their stories and living history is always so intriguing! I have owned and restored two16th century homes in France, so I relate to your journey so much. I too left Australia to pursue that dream back in the 90s and shall never forget those incredible years! Best wishes for your continuing journey and bravo! 🥰🏰♥️

  • Fascinating. SO many "old world" clues. The shields...reveal a great amount of information. The wallpaper in the ground floor dressing room; very interesting historical information regarding commerce and the governmental machinations that impacted the economy of France. I am quite taken by your channel and how you are progressing with restoration and sharing that progress. There is a greater focus on the actual RESTORE-ation process, and discovering the reasons, and the relationship between different aspects of your discoveries. I look forward to following your dedicated progress, and learning. #wakinganoldwoman #battlesfought #winsandlosses #commerce #mercury #vivelafrance #enguarde #allforoneandoneforall #Dartagnion (sp?) 😅 That wind turbine is wild! • Hi Tim and Flik, I loved learning the history in this video! Incredible how it has passed down through so many people, and changed families at times due to marriage and death. I am fascinated how you manage restoring the chateau whilst having to involve French preservation societies (and funding I guess). I hope they allow you to keep moving and not stifling you with bureaucracy. Maybe that just happens in Australia 😂🤪. Such a grand project will require a lot of time, and I am proud that a hard working Aussie couple have taken on this incredible project xx Kelly from Melbourne xx

  • Hello - New sub here and completely enthralled. The chateau is so very fortunate to have you both as its next chapter and much needed restoration. What I think is a question is traditionally ,historically a chateau would be very much generational and I wonder how that would translate now . It will be an answer that can only be answered by time . You have found a true masterpiece and it seems to have been protected from graffitti and invasion by those that would do harm. So much of its story is still there . I am looking forward to watching and I like you, am in love with all of it.

You get more irritated as you go along . I am trying to explain how it feel . The best site are where you dont even notice they play anything , because they play very little music , but the repetitive one is the worst . Having said this , l realy enjoye your story of this chateau , very interresting and very well told by both of you . It was perfect historically and the photos of the chateau as it was beautiful. I realy want to see more but l wil have to take the sound off sorry . Send love from Australia .

    • Yes the music makes a nice intro ...but then maybe transition to actual period-music that represents each epoch of the house and the music that the inhabitants would have listened to or even played themselves at the time. It would be wonderful if they found a period pre-revolutionary harpsichord or clavichor to put in one of the larger salons.
