Everything about Vaux-le-Vicomte is exquisite. I visited years ago and will definitely go back. Thanks to the Vogüé family for sharing this magnificent gem with us.
That was an architectural masterpiece. I loved the breakdown of how it was built.
The redecorating of the garden is magnificent, it compliments the chateau perfectly, it's beautiful!
My name is Ms Diana LaFleur the mother of Miss Alexandria Sims, I will come to visit next year in 2023.
It's hard to believe it only took 13 months from start to finish. My kitchen reno took 6 months!
One of the best historical documentaries I’ve ever seen! Absolutely love the subject of French royal and noble history
I've been enamored of Vaux since I first saw photographs of it many many years ago. Was there ever a greater team of architect, garden designer, and painter/decorater than leVau, leNotre, and leBrun? Versailles is the greatest, but Vaux is the one perfect place.
Beautiful!! I am absolutely OBSESSED with Louis XIV and anything to do with that time period!! Thank you for this wonderful documentary!!!! 💖
I own a genuine Louis XIV silver coin
@@Patrick3183 That's so freakin cool!!!!! I would lose my mind just to hold it in my hand!!! Lol
My gray grandmother was French so seen these builders any one is Amese to know those Arquitectors were the best of the best
Absolutely the most beautiful house in the world. Thank you for this excellent presentation and especially to the Vogue family for their continual stewardship of this world masterpiece. I thank the French people as it was your purloined money that built this wonder. As they all were robbing the country blind, especially Richelieu and Mazarin, I think this legacy is much better than the endless, fruitless wars, that depleted your true treasure, all the young men who died.

How are there only 28 comments this documentary is awesome! Great quality work
Architectural Masterpiece. Gorgeous!!! Bucket list.
We visited Vaux le Vicomte in 2017 on our trip in France. Batiment absolutement magnifique, breathtaking landscapes of gardens, we walked the entire day.
I knew it!! It looked like the location for "The Man in the Iron Mask." It is!! Well but in the mean time, I learned quite a lot. Great.
One can only be mesmerised by the imagination and creative minds of all involved. The craftmanship, organisational skills to pull off such a project in the 17th century. However, one must be equally impressed with the level of corruption, crime, the thirst for power and the need to impress. The lengths they will go and degree of ruthlessness the powerful are willing to exert to achieve their goal. Both extraordinary and frightening, the result mind blowing and spectacular. Fantastic documentary ! ! Well researched and executed ! !
Thanks for mentioning the other side of the coin. I wonder how many lived in desperate poverty so that a few could have such splendor?
@@andrewtaylor9799 Small wonder that it exploded into the French revolution, effecting the course of the European history. "La veuve" claimed many heads as a result as well. As your comment states sir: there are always two sides to a story and everything got a price. A very big one in this case.
I love this series! Thank you for the great content.
Vive la France, belle et douce, et sa culture. Voici le coeur de la civilization.
Thanks, we are going to Paris and we are going to Versailles. I hope it is a great place.
Love this series of how they built these amazing structures! I saw the episode on Fontainebleau. Does this series only cover French structures? Or are there parts in this series from other countries like England, Scotland, Germany etc? If so I'd love to know where I could see them if not on here! I love the partial historical drama part as well as the visual explanations with the 3D diagrams of the buildings. SO IN DEPTH AND DETAILED I LOVE IT!
Try looking up Great British castles, Dan Brown is the host of that series.
I can not thank you enough for a most informative video on perhaps thee most important chateaux in all of France. Well done, thank you.
What an amazing story, and what an amazing work of art.
Visiting the palace while knowing that I’m a direct descendant of his father, Louis XIII is a total different experience. Versailles is my favorite place on earth.
Appeared in the James Bond movie "Moonraker."
Just an exquisite house. I like it even better than Versailles. It is literally a jewelbox. I would loved to have been able to live in such a beautiful home.
Another great castle video many thanks for whole team
Thanks for having me to watch the best documentary series.
Love this video! The subject is exquisite! Beautifully done! Thank you!
i like a lot of docomentries.
This is so informative. I wish there was one videos on how palace n castles were built. Type of stone they used n how they transformed the landscape n waterways just like this video
Ah, but there is! Look up Castle building and Ruth Goodman. That should bring up a series of shows that shows them in the process of building a castle.
@@jo-vf8jx do you mean the French project castle Guedelon where they have been building a castle with only medieval techniques?
@@seanmcguire7974 I am. So I gather you are looking for more of that type of information? That’s the only show I personally know of that’s on KZhead. However, if you do find more, I’d be interested in watching them too. I’m a very curious person and like finding interesting and different things out :)
Amazing structure of mansion 🏰
Fantastic documentary it's a lot's to learn great series 👍 👏 👌 😀
P.S. this film is a fabulous production, very datailed and resources intensive. Bravo!
Simply beautiful 😍❤
Wonderful royalty documentary thanks to Netflix watching the series history. 😀
Absolutely gorgeous beautiful 🏰 lovely 😍 👌 👍 🥰
So cool. Loved the history, Politics, power and corruption. Wonderful video which incorporates all the elements of the time. Relationship between countries, pirating Wealthy Dutch ships who exploited far off lands, war between Spain and France, the church, the king, wow. Well done. ✨🌞⚜️🍾
I toured this palace in 2017. So impressive like many in the Loire Valley
This one is not in the Loire valley.
@@MMijdus Yes it is a different place. There is another one, Chateau Fontanbleu which is ranked as one of the most beautiful palaces. It is also not in Loire Valley. The 3 Cs: Chambord, Cheverney, Coustcuseu (dont know the spelling here) are in Loire Valley
Hello everyone commonwealth family thanks for having me it's my pleasure to meeting you guys.
You didn’t show much of the inside of the palace.
Really enjoyed it
Very beautiful documentary about a historical castle whose architecture I have liked and admired for many many years and especially the dome which is so beautiful. I had download the video on KZhead about a month ago but I just watched it. Motorola G9+ Quetta 0313, 06/03/2022.
Architecture very nice 👌 👍 👏
Increible!!!
Really magnificent......!
19:00 I’m curious why the vault is illuminated by oil flame not electricity? (Who lights the wicks every day?)
Lit for the production only
@@Patrick3183 thank you. PS: The castle is beyond words. After the King ordered the estate closed was it ever lived in?
@@kbflorida888 yes it was lived in by his widow who sold it then it passed between various owners
Maybe to give a sense and image of how it might have looked liked in the 17th century.
A squirrel for a mascot? "Who knows how high he may climb?"
someone send this to netflix asap
I would love to quarantine here during the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.
DO THEY STILL HAVE THE OUTDOOR BALLROOM ?

Is this the château that the 23 year old bought? How lucky is he to even find this château, I wish I could find one that needs renovation
keys... from what I understand they have a number of them in the Loire Valley of France .
Oh wonderful Im such a baroque francoohile
Are there toilets inside the palace or is it just a giant cesspool?
Whether Louis XIV or other historical figures - we can bring them all to life. Like Anne of Cleves, who can be placed on the floor in front of you and made to speak with our augmented reality app. Or you can see her as an animated 3D model in the video. kzhead.info/sun/jdF8qLOBnn-noa8/bejne.html
By far blows Chambord, Chenonceau, and Fontainebleau out of the water. But don’t tell anyone, it’s not visited much and therefore extremely approachable.
I feel said that people have to put them selves above others and show off about their collection
Andre le Notre, pronounced Notr, not "notra".@ 20.55... The e after genre doesn't make it "genra". French pronunciation is genr. Same thing. The e is silent.
did the King Louis strip this castle of furnishings and valuables?? it seems a likely course.

Most likely this building was built long before 17th century. Long before the French the people we see today existed on the land we call France today ...
What are you talking about?
@@laurentdrozin812 old world structures that for cohabitating 5 new arrivals
Most likely not
Very interesting, but there is absolutely no need for the "actors" who don't look at all like the real people or the cheap costumes. Portraits are enough.
As of right now this castle own by Saudi prince
Are you sure, because 1 year ago it was not and supposed to be owned by the same family Patrice de Vogüé and his sons (French)
How was this built in 13 months? Answer, there were none of today's American contractors involved. Also people actually worked "hard" back in the last few centuries.
It was possible to build it in 13 months because they had unlimited resources.
