The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6 (Chapter 14) is one of the best episodes yet, with the return of Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) back in his Boba Fett armor, his legendary ship Slave One, his father Jango Fett's history, Moff Gideon threatening Grogu with the Darksaber, Grogu connecting with some unknown Jedi, and more. It also contains some of the richest, best-hidden Easter Eggs connecting to the Star Wars universe, with visible text written THREE alien languages -- Aurebesh, Mando'a, and the Old Tongue -- all of which Erik Voss has translated and analyzed to explain the fascinating hidden meaning. Join us for another in-depth breakdown of all the Star Wars Easter Eggs and obscure cinematic details hidden in the visuals by Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau, and episode director Robert Rodriguez. Hello
Poggers
I really want vessi
I do be thinking the fascination with spheres might be setting up like a Jedi holocron or other relic that grogu escaped the Jedi temple with and has to go find.
@bingingwithbabish this would be a nice video.
When Boba started talking, 4 years of OG Battlefront 2 memories came flooding back.... good times.
what about c0mmand0?
same
Hell yes!!
Just like the simulations
That's Amazing. When I heard slave one I fell off my couch.
Mando not calling the jetpack back was giving me anxiety
THANK YOU!! Why didn't he call it back like he did in the other episode?
Same here. I'm still bothered by it. Did he get it back? I need to see it again! 😖
@@hdvsmith Uhhh yeah unfortunately as much as I loved this episode for the most part, there were definitely some "dumb" moments, like why did Boba make him drop the jetpack anyway? I get dropping his weapons, but the jetpack thing just felt like a plot excuse so he couldn't follow the Dark Troopers. He should've called back the Jetpack and tried to fly up but get shot down by one of the Dark Troopers. That would've made way more sense. Plus the episode could be 45 seconds longer... ha
That annoyed me so much, like the child coulda not been taken if he had it
Yeah, the "put the jetpack down" was a plot device to set up Mando not being able to reach Grogu in time to save him. Just a writers room agreement to move the plot forward.
Erik "I'm bilingual." Them: "Oh really? What do you speak? French? Spanish?" Erik: " Mando'a"
LMAO
Rip to the captain who kept sending his men to death while fighting boba and fennec
That was an absolute slaughter.
Robert Rodriguez seems to have had a blast making this
Chump
The zapp brannigan of imperial commanders
The tactic is "we have troops and they're expendable"
I'm SO glad you guys noticed Temuera's culture and the haka through his combat skills. Coming from a Maori descent, i can say on the behalf of Maori Star Wars fans that we are extremely proud to see our culture make it's way into Star Wars. Kia Ora from a fellow Star Wars fan :)
It kinda scares me that in the Star Wars universe they have baby sized hand cuffs
I'm like 80% certain they are not specifically designed for babies... they probably have several varients that can be applied too lots of different alien body types
@@joshuaarnaud993 like Jawa
I think Grogu will have enough strength to break the cuffs after his long nap! Seems like the nap would restore his powers to it's max. Then he could help Mando fight off Gideon.
or Babu Frik
I think hey were made specifically for Grogu. Gideon knows his power. This only makes sense
Disney’s merchandise ceo is crying over the destruction of the Razor Crest
He won't be when the replacement is shown
We got the Slave I now, he's happy
Oh, no, that just makes it a limited edition collectable.
Yeah, but those Slave-1s collecting dust in a warehouse are about to move, so there's balance to the (sales) force.
That was the Tragedy they were referring to.
Also, every time he’s trying to get the child out of the force field, he calls him “kid” not grogu, so if he were to call him grogu, do you think he would’ve stopped?
Your to dangerous to be left alive
thats exactly what i was thinking. im sure they intentionally did that for something similar to happen in the future
I thought the same! Felt like screaming his name grogu!!!
Exactly, I really thought on the 3rd attempt he would call him by his name and he’d awaken from his trance
Thought so too.
Can't believe no one is talking about how f'ing great Boba Fett's musical theme is.
None of us could hear it because we were screaming in joy
It was so good
@Gregg Hey, Boba Fett's musical theme is f'ing great!!!
Love the incorporation of the didgeridoo too.
John Williams theme of boba Fett was way better, but the strings make for a solid placeholder.
Surprised me that no one is talking about that Stormtrooper with yellow stripes (the one operating the mortars). That was so cool to see, reminded me of the old Clone Troopers.
Yeah same!!
Seems like Moff Gideon has special troops that are color coded. Red for flametrooper, and yellow for mortars. Eager to see if more on his cruiser.
Can we just appreciate the little details they put in these shows? Freaking readable coded messaging.. that’s crazy.. what a find.
Yes! Did you notice Boba actually did zoom in on the other transport? He wasnt being funny when he said he was aiming at the other one.
rest in peace Razor Crest, you will never be forgetten.
And it just became a collectable limited edition.
And Mando's awesome sniper rifle!
f
*rest in pieces.
He also lost the pulsar rifle in there :/
The reason that Boba looked thicker in his armour is because instead of wearing his typical undergarments, he was trying to fit a HUGE freaking robe under the armour. How does everybody seem to miss that??
I know, hearing people complain that he’s overweight is so confusing to me
@@brandonhancock8620 he is a little chunkier as well, but I'm not complaining i think it's awesome!
Temuera is 60yrs old this year, i think he's earned a pass, i'm just glad he's back and living up to his badass reputation!
I thought this too... he didn't look bad in it
*THICC
I respect Eriks dedication to translating 2 alien languages
What a lad
@@mrsock9546 indeed mr sock, indeed
I love how the start he was explain to grogu about his “mission” to return the child as it as almost a reminder for us at home to refocus on the story behind it and not the side missions
he was also explaining it to himself, trying to convince himself that he'll have to say goodbye soon
Did anyone notice how stormtroopers actually hit their target when the target was wearing beskar
And how they missed every shot with a big ass machine gun
@@TheRandompaint well the stormtrooper with the minigun was hitting the Indiana Jones boulder with every shot
Stormtroopers can hit accurately . But they function along with plot. If plot wants to repel laser from lightsabers or hit beskar - then the storm troopers hits accurately If plot dont want to kill any main protagonist -then the stormtroopers cant hit anything.
@@aabrahamjerry6285 well I have to agree with you but that boulder was hit by a stormtrooper more times than anything in star wars history
@@kiwisaraphim6622 well , the stormtrooper thought that he couldshoot the boulder to pieces . Tbh ,the troopere were little bit comedic abd idiotic. He could have ran instead of shooting it .
Moff Gideon was so HAPPY throughout this episode... lol... he was smiling and laughing all the way, even happily making fun of Grogu... everything is going like he's foreseen it...
After running into Boba Fett... Din Djarin must be thinking, "Screw this. I'm taking my helmet off. Everyone else does it!!"
From what I got the ruines translate to "Thanks to Vesi shoes for sponsoring that video"
The biggest question though, did he get his jetpack back? He left it by the stone and you never saw it again in the episode.
As we see in another episode, he can call his jetpack back to himself with the controller on his wrist, yet he didn't in this episode, which i think is one of the few oversights the producers have made in this series...
Isnt the jetpack made out of beskar? If a steel spear survives the jetpack might also be
It was a dumb move just to run to Grogu without his jetpack. If he got it back then there would be a lot more combat seen in the episode but seeing from Robert Rodriguez, he does work on low budget stuff. It makes sense. Besides it would only take Din like 5 seconds to put the thing on.
I believe he intentionally left it behind as to not draw attention to where Grogu was when the imperials landed. Makes sense if you think about it. If he flew up there or called his jetpack up there he would have immediately alerted them to his location. Granted, they found him anyway, but Mando and the rest didn't know there was an imperial cruiser with moff gideon and darktroopers above them.
I think we're gonna see him get it in the beginning of the next episode
i figure his armor would fit him better if he didn't have the robe. Anyways he is still badass and had awesome fight scenes!
The cape is badass , imagine Boba Fett w/onthe scarf
God I hope we see him in his actual original armor
This episodes was filled with amazing stuff like action, comedy,TRAGEDY, and Fan service and a lot of mediating.
Does nobody wanna talk about the Robert Rodriguez direction? Those shots of the gaffing stick sliding on the ground before pulverizing the troopers and many more. Superb
Shout out to the Razorcrest who went through this episode undamaged!
Don’t joke like that...it’s too early😔
Ouch
it’s got to be 22.5 years til you can joke about it
Too soon for jokes like that
Too soon
Everybody! Let’s give Erik some love, cuz he’s awesome. Love ya Erik 😘
Good to see Ming Na Wen being badass
I don't think that's a second figure next to Grogu in the distant shot. I think that's just the top of the far stonehenge rock, with the rest cut off by the angle.
Agree
The angle isn’t that low at all look at how tall all the other rocks are there’s no way that could be one of the rocks
Totally agree, thought that on the last vid it was mentioned on!
@@plex1995 it's the one at the back prospective means it wouldn't be as tall as the ones in the front
@@geekishgir did you even read my comment? The angle isn’t low enough to made the rocks in the back look so low or small just makes no sense at all
DANK FERRIK why did the razor crest have to be destroyed
I'm pretty sure Mandalorian's email is full of such mails asking the same question... :)
The transport in the episode that the empire used is definitely not the same as from the Force Awakens one.
It looks like a prototype though
agreed, just an early model
You see it in Battlefront 2. I think it’s just a smaller version of a normal star destroyer
@@jacob9523 I'm not talking about the star cruiser, im talking about the transport
@@jacob9523 You're thinking about Moff Gideon's ship. It's an Aquitens Light Cruiser, so effectively a smaller Star Destroyer, yes.
I feel like grogu could’ve heard mando if he actually would’ve said his name
The fact that you translated all that text is soooooo awesome....Thank you!!!!
Grogu was looking for his memory game save from the jedi cloud.
You can hear First Order theme song when Gideon walks in at the end too. Love how Filoni/Favreau just get Star Wars
I like “The Magnificentl Seven” reference quote Boba made after taking out the ships. “...I was aiming for the other ship...” Steve McQueen said “...It’s the worst shot I ever made. I was aiming at his horse...”
Big big confirmation of Jango being adopted by Jaster Mareel.
Boba fett would have the right to claim the Mand'alor title like his dad but I'd be cool if he turned it down that would make him even kewller
I literally screamed when the Razor Crest exploded. Fly High Razor Crest
This is easily my favorite episode of the season

Major win for Robert Rodriguez Spy Kids "Mira abuela yo quero zapatos como esos!".... That director yeah? Made this amazing episode Major fuckin win
Too bad he's directing the shark oh and lavagirl sequel
This episode was so sad and good

Last week when Ashoka came out I was thinking it’s gonna be hard to top that. They keep this up and eventually the bar is going to be set too high. As much as I love where this is going they need to dial it back just a tad.
ive been waiting for this damnit. after this imma get back to studying.
I must applaud your hard core nerding. I’ve had a hard time reconciling the scope of the entire series. After watching this video I feel like I’ve got a true birds eye view of how it all meshes together. Thanks guys!
I totally caught the knee darts and my inner 7 year old screamed out in joy!
The first time seeing a gaffi stick put to real use instead of just hitting the ground next to Luke.
Watch as Grogu pulls one of Gideons' eyes out of his head using the force.
Came here to say exactly that!
It's fitting that he keeps playing with that clutch ball piece that resembles an eyeball!
And then he'll eat it.
5:27 nah they're just the other stones on the other side
Yes! Thank you!
I thought the butterflies were a callback to the First episode of Clone Wars, just after crushing then Droidekas.
They also appear to anakinin a dream during his transition to Vader; he kills them, it was supposed to represent him destroying the last parts of the anakin identity
Anybody else wondering what’s going to happen between Boba Fett and Mace Windu if in fact Mace Windu is alive and answers the child’s call and finds Mando with Boba?
Thanks for mentioning Jango and Zam, exactly what I thought. hopefully Boba keeps his head.
WAs anyone else SUPER elated when FENNEC appeared with Boba?!!! i was like "They were right! They were right!" lol@self

Did Din Djarin ever get his jetpack back? He didn't even have it on while in Navarro. Sadly, he could have remote flown it back to himself at any moment during the episode.
he probably did retrieve it, but left it on slave 1 along with the beskar spear when he was talking to cara, there would've been no reason for him to wear it out.
Tython is also a Jedi class starting zone in Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO
When the Slave-1 showed up I was squealing in my bed at 3:00 am
Everyone talking about Mando forgetting the jetpack but also he didn't even take his long rifle out with him on Tython!
Hi Eric. I just want to say, out of all the star wars fans out there, you are probably the best. Your level of star wars knowledge is way too advanced for an average fan. Very professional I must say. Keep it up! I am always looking forward to your videos :)
Maybe the sphere that grogu likes, might be made of vescar because it didn't get destroyed and grogu might like it because he can't hug mando so he hugs that sphere
👁💧👄💧👁
Vescar- beskar
Boba's armor will probably fit better once he takes off those robes.
OMGGGGG the translation of the armor. code is another level! Good job Erik! the Jester reference is pretty awesome to confirm.
When I saw the tragedy, I was thinking that grogu might have a flashback to order 66
RIP Razor Crest 2019-2020
Temura: (says a single line) My brain remembering Og Battlefront: *GET IN MOUNT UP MOVE OUT DEFEND THE OBJECTIVE SEPERATIST FORCES HAVE TAKEN OUR COMMAND POST!!!!!*
It was nice to hear Mando/Din Djarin laughing after Grogu responding to his name. He is a human under his helmet!! Very sweet scene! ❤️🎉👍🎈😎🎉
You guys really did your research, I appreciate all of the sources you provided for extra context on the references this episode had, as well as all of the translations.
Mando is gonna kill Gideon with that spear. Gideon shoulda killed him while he had the chance.
Bo Katan has to kill him to claim the Dark Saber thus the throne of Mandalore.
Through the magic of dark side cybernetics, they probably both get to do these things. They are definitely going to make Gideon even more vaderish IMO. Remember he got half of his face blown off in Breaking Bad, that's a survivable injury in Star Wars.
@@oliverpasztor788 yeah mando will kill him and take it
Giancarlo confirmed he's coming back for season 3 and will be in more episodes so no Gideon isn't dying anytime soon
@@hecantguardme15 when he does I feel like mando will get the darksaber
7:05 The two dropships, while similar, are not actually the same design.
Thank you Eric for all of the translating you had to do for this one. 😃
8:56 you can just hear Erik muttering ”boom. You lookin’ fr this?” under his breath
I love the star destroyer moff Gideon uses. It looks exactly like a republic one from the prequals
Technically it's an arquitens class cruiser. But I see your point
Thank you so much for mentioning the Maori stuff, really appreciate it!
The Nikto in the registry has the last name “Di” which was the last name of a very notorious Nikto crime boss named Rinnrivin Di, over 20 years later. Leia would come into contact with him and investigate him, as his cartel had connections to the First Order!
'Yath Indidee'... 😂 And you know Mr. Lucas loves his anagrams!
This episode was So good!
I Love Seeing Boba Return In His Armor That's Sick.
Grogu sure shows a ton more mastery and intention with his use of the force in the jail cell at the end of the episode. Not just naively force choking, but flinging the troops around, etc. Seems like he might have quickly received some sort of critical training while meditating on the seeing stone.....
That was a VERY thorough break down!! Thank you for always doing such a great job.
1:19 fun fact the child buildable figure for lego has the shifter nob top and to keep it in his hand from falling off its they put a blue stud that keeps it in his hand
10:54 It is still legends. Only what is explicitly said is canon. Jaster can even have a different last name and not even be human, just like the Revan namedrop in Rise of Skywalker Visual Dictonary
When he said affirmative I died , got chills what a classic word that I needed to hear again to relieve good memories.
Been waiting all day for this. Cheers mate!
Just finished star Wars rebels and now i cant wait to see more of trawn and Ashoka
Isn't it a good series?! Rumor has it a followup animation to Rebels is coming next year!
Got a cool theory about who Grogu saw on the seeing stone: So when Grogu was on the seeing stone on Tython, everyone is probably wondering what he saw or who he reached out too. Well in my theory I think he did both, I think that he reached out to a Jedi, most likely either Luke or Cal, however I think that’s a given because we are probably going to see more than just Ashoka in terms of Jedi’s/ force wielders however I think the more interesting theory is did Grogu see in his ‘meditation’. Obviously we’ve seen countless times when force users meditate they see or hear people; well what if Grogu heard/saw Anakin’s force ghost. Now you might think out of everyone why Anakin, surely it would be Yoda. However what do we know about Tython in legends? Well we know that it doesn’t favour either the light or dark side. It’s a place balance. And who do we know who brings balance to the force? Anakin. Maybe Grogu is searching for a Jedi and he first talks to Anakin. And maybe they talk and Grogu explains who he is and what his situation is. Obviously Anakin can’t train him but he would know the perfect person to train him. Anakins son, Luke, and then Anakin tells Grogu to reach out to the force and look for Luke, and he does and that’s why we see/ hopefully see Luke either in the season finale or next season
what about ezra? he could of guided ezra back to train him
@@walter2440 I don’t think so. I think Ezra is still fighting or with thrawn and I think that’s what the Ashoka spin off will be about, finding Ezra.
There's a theory that Anakin and Grogu are part of a force dyad. That would be a really good reason for Anakin to reach out to him.
@@TheRockinDonkey to be honest I would love that. I don’t know fully the details of how you need to be in a dyad but I think the only issue is surely Anakin/Vader would have felt it and especially that they’ve been in the same building (Jedi temple ) as each in the clone wars surely they would have had a really strong connection. It’s a cool theory but i think would be hard to retcon
@@unsilencedchaos2112 That's a really good point. It's probably unlikely for the very reasons you mentioned. It would still be cool to get some Anakin Skywalker force-ghost time in this series.
I love how the dialog when Boba takes out the transports is based on the lines from The Magnificent Seven. "I was aiming for the horse!"
I wait for these every week, thank you for your service
The Nikto M’Dwello Di has the same last name as the crime lord Rinrivin Di in the Bloodline book written by Claudia Gray
Jaster Mareel is back. Time to read Open Seasons again
It was great to see the Cavalry back this episode!
LOVE the Fact Jake The Mas! Is sticking it out for the rest the season!
“Looks like Southern California” yup. That’s exactly what I thought. Like almost not even trying to change it😂
Grogu a Mandalorian-Jedi!!! (Is there such a thing ??). I want to see him follow in the footsteps of his dad Din Jarin!
The dark saber was made by the first and as far as I know only mandalorian-Jedi.
That would track with the saga ending with Rey Skywalker, being the unification of opposites, given the history of conflict between Mandalorians & Jedi, just like Skywalkers & Palpatines. So yeah, a Mandalorian becoming a Jedi, or vice versa, since they're a Mandalorian clan of two now, it's almost assured. I think it'd be cool to see Din learn to wield the Force.
@@2QAYL1138 Yes... that would be awesome for Din Jarin to be Force sensitive. I wonder if that’s ever happened to anyone late in life. 🤔🤔
@@lordbyron3603 I don't see why not, he's got a lot of growing up to do, but maybe down the road necessity will bring something out of him he didn't know he had.
Wow, in-depth review....Thanks for all the extra's!
Daaaaamn, loved the translations!!! You guys killed it and always keep us so damned more informed than I even thought I could be hahaha
Continuity hole: Boba Fett's helmet in ROTJ, where Leia threatens Jabba with the thermal detonator, Boba pulls out his rifle and his reticle is on his left side, not his right! 🤔 Nitpick, but I had to point it out!
Guess he changed it.
It would be pretty cool if we came across some character that collected clone-wars era stuff primarily Clone Trooper armor of different types (paratrooper, phase 1, 2, etc)
Thanks for all the 'hard work' and 'research' - we don't get Disney+ in Singapore, so your video has helped to shed light on all the latest happenings in the Mandalorian and Star Wars.
This series keeps getting better and better
