  • One thing I think they did wrong was making storm troopers seem so useless, in the first season Mando was clearly a badass and Beskar was strong but he still felt vulnerable. In season 2 Mando was getting shot up constantly to no effect it felt less like he was skilled and more like he was using an invincibility cheat. It wasn't just Mando the bit where the women are clearing out Moff Gideon's ship really felt like there was no danger at all. It took Andor to make them seem like a threat again.

    • I just consider season 3 an entirely different show with the same cast to be honest. Seasons 1 and 2 were about Din and Grogu, that story effectively ended at the end of season 2. Season 3 was about the broader Mandalorian civilization rebuilding. I think as a series that wraps up the Mandalore arc from TCW and Rebels, season 3 is really good. As far as advancing Din and Grogu's story is concerned, they were basically just... there for the ride. I don't really mind it, they did find themselves a bit in over their heads. Me personally? yeah I like this ending better than season 3's, but the stuff I loved from season 3 I _really_ loved. Finally learning what happened to Mandalore after Rebels is absolutely bone chilling stuff man, and seeing their capital city in ruins looking like a sick ass Fallout map ngl, it's really sobering stuff if you've grown up on Mandalore from the animated series. It really shows what the aftermath of a civilization that stood up to the Empire at the height of their power looks like.

  • The Problem with this show (that Filoni and Katie Sackoff both admitted) is that it isn’t giving it’s characters time to breathe. Moments to just talk. It’s been confirmed that they cut entire scenes out just to keep the fast pacing and you can tell it’s hurting the show

  • S2 sets up all the opposite things that S3 pretends Mando wants to follow It presents him learning throughout all the season that Mandalorian creed only keeps them away from new alliances, compassion, identity and love He sees in Katan that just maybe the creed he believes is the absolute truth is seen as obsolete fanatism by other mandos and at the end resigns it letting go of both the creed and Grogu but FINDING HIMSELF under the helmet Enter S3 and fucking Din wants to be in again so hard he begs

    @my2randomcents@my2randomcents9 ай бұрын
    • Took the words right out of my mouth. He had so much potential, then S3 takes a steaming shit all over Din’s character growth and presents him as this loser who _needs_ the bitchy Armorers’ validation. The whole point of S2 is that SHE WAS WRONG. From a writing perspective, Mando was fully in the right to take off his helmet and shouldn’t have been bastardized for doing so. But then she denounces his entire heritage and basically kicks him out, which would’ve been the *perfect* set up for Din finally taking his own place…. But no. He can’t even swing the darksaber without getting his ass kicked, so he immediately passes it on to Hoe Katan, and spends the rest of the season as her little bitch. He comes crawling back to the Armorer and has to endure all this shit just to win her approval - but it didn’t matter anyway bc the Armorer flips sides and just lets Bo Katan chill without _her_ helmet. AND DIN IS PERFECTLY FINE WITH THAT 🤦🏾‍♂️

      @Luke_SkywaIker@Luke_SkywaIker9 ай бұрын
    • @@Luke_SkywaIker If there HAD to be a “she walks both worlds” arc, then it should’ve belonged to Din. Imagine if Mando Season 3 started with Din joining up with Bo Katan’s crew. We could’ve had the tension with him holding the Darksaber, having to fend off challenges and contempt from the others. Maybe ultimately learning how to wield it right. Actually give him a character arc. And if the writers didn’t have the stones to make Bo Katan a morally grey antagonist(which I still think would’ve been 10x more interesting) then they could’ve just had her train Din.

      @AdamC_465@AdamC_4659 ай бұрын

    @Captain_Griff@Captain_Griff9 ай бұрын
  • Mando S2 I still think is really good, though it's kind of got the problem of a lot of aspects of it aging poorly. I was so excited to see Luke and thought perhaps we could get a Jedi Academy show with those two and it could help potentially dive into the relationship between Luke and Ben a bit more, give us more insight into Luke's beliefs as a Jedi Master, and explain where Grogu went by the time the sequels came around... Then BoBF happened and they backpeddled on it. I thought we'd get a whole conflict of Din rising to become the new leader of Mandalore and there'd be conflict between him and Bo Katan... Only Season 3 back peddled on it. The only thing still somewhat promising to me is Ahsoka and Thrawn, and though Dave Filoni is overseeing that show, I still can't help but feel a bit nervous about it. Still, just a few more days till that show so here's hoping it can regain some of that magic the first two seasons of Mando had.

  • i have reaaaaaally mixed feelings on this season. i don't think it's particularly bad, but it started the loss of the western style the first season had. it also was starting to feel like they had cameos to cameo, which only got worse next season. it's also hard to not hate the ending for me because of how it was immediately abandoned, which isn't technically this season's problem, but it's not exactly something i can just ignore

  • "New stories will always impact how we view older stories." This isn't always true and honestly shouldn't be the case if the writers are being faithful to the source material and following through with what the characters would do. Instead, we have hack writers who want to change things or try to fill in holes in the past and then fucking up that past as well. Part of it is due to the nerdom as well. The story of Han Solo and Guido and who shot first is one of the biggest examples that comes to mind. Nothing had to be changed, and that didn't have to be answered. It should have been left alone. The Disney series Kenobi also fucked up canon and made Kenobi look weak, incompetent and a failure at his job of watching over Luke. As for Mando, baby Yoda came back due to Disney marketing and that undermined his whole story and the relevance of Luke taking him away to be trained. New writing shouldn't make more problems... and it should respect the past.

I feel like the “team walks through an area and just clears it no problem” got a bit old between Bo-Katan’s team and in the finale, but I think part of that is me not enjoying the feeling of “look how awesome they are” I got from it. Most of the other action/fights at least felt like they had some back and forth or narrative weight. As much as I’m bummed about Din deciding to go back on his decision to let the armor down in season 3, I do still enjoy a fair chunk of the season and it has some great highs.

  • I don’t believe another project can enhance or downgrade a previous project. The quality of that project is still there even if a sequel doesn’t follow up what was set up in a satisfying way. The originals are still good on their own despite the controversy of the sequels, the prequels imo aren’t that good despite the Clone Wars and Mando seasons 1 and 2 are good on their own despite Bobf and season 3. Now when you view it as an overall story things can feel diminished or enhanced but I think that if it was good before nothing will change that just that the sequel or prequel project didn’t live up to expectations.

  • Sadly, this season has kinda soured on me a little bit, which is 100% the actual season's fault, it's what's come after. I know this season became a cameo fest, which did kind of detract from what made season 1 so special, but like with No Way Home, cameos are good if they service the plot, which I feel these did for the most part. What came after though with reversing the emotional finale of the season with the Book of Boba Fett and the lack luster following season and it feeling like they didn't know what they wanted to do with the character of Mando and Grogu, I'm not as excited to rewatch this season as I am with season 1. However, I still remember how I felt in the moment while watching the series fo the first time and will never forget some of things this season did

  • Please stop saying Gina Carano "spent too much time on twitter". Her point was so valid and evident! I am still puzzled as to how it got everyone losing their minds over what is essentially a very important life lesson that we do see in Star Wars. Normal people with the best of intentions can participate in the worst of atrocities by going at it one step at a time, reinforcing what is expected of them by higher authorities and eventually no longer thinking about the morality of their OWN actions. The oldest trick of "divide and conquer" applied in a supposedly "advanced" modern civilization over a dumb flu that got the best marketing ever to get people into Fear of one another. Grand Moff Tarkin wishes he had this tool to keep the systems in line! No one needs a Death Star when you can just have neighbors turn on neighbors, FOR FREE! (or the low price of a few government subsidies to the failing media empires).

    • Gina's intervention was pretty bullseye on the issue of the moment! It just didn't please the powers that be that someone got up and pointed a finger at them saying "look how they are turning us against each other". I get Godwin's Law is a thing and 3rd Reich comparisons do rub some people the wrong way, but for once a Nazi analogy was just plain valid. I can't believe how people do not understand that large scale abuses begin somewhere and it can lead to bad places if left unchecked for a while. You don't need millions of maniacs who get turned on by doing terrible things, just regular people being led to believe that what they do is the right thing while being properly scared of any other way of being. People just didn't wanna hear they were possibly wrong for snitching on neighbors over a flu and that is profoundly worrying. Evil is in everyone of us if we don't pay attention and reflect on how we make choices, we're doomed to repeat past mistakes.

  • I disagree on Bo Katan being the only mandalorian character outside the tribe left to fill the role she did in this season. They might as well have introduced a completely new mandalorian, either another former death watch, protector or independent from those two (like the True Mandalorians from Legends) just for the purpose of showing Din Djarin that there are other mandos outside of his tribe and only a sect of Mando culture. Another thing i disliked about this season is that they claim the darkaber has to be earned in combat, even though it was just an heirloom passed down for generations, according to the character that Jon Favreau himself voiced in TCW.

He claims to have "sources", yet has anything he claimed ever been truly verified? Why does she "interfere" with Favreau or keep writers from telling stories they want, but only when it comes to Favreau? Filoni still tells the stories he wants. Deborah Chow got to tell the story she wanted with Obi-wan. Tony Gilroy got to tell the story he wanted with Andor. Book writers are getting to tell the stories they want. But therre's been this narrative of Favreau+Filoni vs Kennedy since Mando season 1 and that they're gonna save Star Wars and retcon the sequels (even though more and more they tielead into them) and it has had.
