GOAT WR. He didn't have Randy Moss' leaping ability, Terrell Owens strength, or Odell Beckham body contortionist catches. He just ran perfect routes, sure handed, and was the hardest working WR for his era.
StevesStuff Beckham will never be in the conversation of best wr
I’d use Chris carter as the crazy contorting catch example but Steve your totally right
Exactly. He was an obsessed perfectionist like no other.
Callen Kirchner In terms of raw talent he means
Callen Kirchner bruh he never said that idiot
1986 = great catch! 2019 = after further review...
Ed B It sounds silly but it’s so true 🤣
19 years at wide receiver let's think about this he played for so long he played when Walter Peyton Joe Montana played he played when troy aikman and Emmett Smith played and he played when Tom Brady and and Peyton manning were Young up and comers if you don't respect him for how great of a player he was you have to respect him for his longevity alone
And im sure he wanted to keep playing after the 19 years. He was amazing
And played when drew brees was young and played all the way up till when Ben Rothelisburger and Eli Manning were rookies. When he started in 85 the cardinals were still in STL and by the time he retired the the texans were 2 years old. The list goes on

JD Neathery also had joe Montana Steve young and rich Gannon all great qbs
"He's not what he was, but he's still better than everybody" GOAT
He was outrunning players when he was 40 years old. 40 yard dash doesn't mean much apparently. Simply the best receiver to every play.
It's all footwork, quick cuts, precise route running, timing, hands and great running after the catch...he was simply superb at it, and I have seen no one since who even comes close to Jerry Rice. Jerry didn't have track speed, he had football speed.
@@kray97 ^ this, 100%
@@spacemountain5624 what creeped me out the most was how wide OPEN he was on his routes
Maybe he was slow over 40, but I bet his 100 yard time would be amongst the fastest
yeah 40 times can be misleading. Jerry came out of college running 4.6's... BUT when he catches a ball, you never see him get caught from behind.. He runs like a 4.2 with the ball.. 40 times on a track is not the same as game speed with pads on and a ball in your hand.
If you want to know how great Rice was, he broke that career TD record in 9 seasons, then played for 9 or 10 more years just to add to it.
Mike evans>
Niners with 3 different qbs and rice was still playing
Moe Lester Rice was so good, he got Elvis Grbac a starting job in KC.
@@riteousrighthand6144 Steve Bono too.
@@riteousrighthand6144nice bs there
@@damikey18 BS? You think Elvis Grbac was a good QB?
@@riteousrighthand6144 he was alright
Knowing he played 19 years at a skill position is crazy
Trying To Pick A Good Username 21 years
Aries Anderson just 20
Trying To Pick A Good Username Because it's the one and only jerry rice.
@@jwhine 21
what, like itd be easier to play for that long at any other type of position? (besides QB, kicker, or punter)
How you tear your acl and come back the same season.. Straight up GOAT shhhhh!! Rice had work ethic like no other..
Jerry Rice Is the best man to play the positon Happy Birthday My man
You spelled Randy Moss wrong
_pabs_ Hahaha Im vikings fan but no just no
Daniel D Lets go From the start of the nfl to randy moss jerry rice would be the best
Moss is better alright Better at running his mouth Better at making excuses Better at choking in the playoffs Better at quitting on his teammates and better at LOSING. But better a playing wide receiver?? Not even once. Saying Moss is better than Rice has the same credibility as saying the Earth is flat.
Xavier Vega exactly. I mean on paper as for skill and athlecism randy is better but thats not how it works. Its like comparing rodgers to brady.
If people say he used stickems just know nfl gloves have a better feeling and better grip hes still the best wr of all time yall just haters.
W
Fouu Productions facts
He's clearly overrated. Gloves are nowhere near the gripping power Stickum provides; let alone Stickum and gloves used together. ANY half decent WR with Stickum in his hands can look like an all pro; let alone overrated ass Jerry Rice and his 4.71 40 yard dash time.
Breezy Brees Because of the use of a banned substance known as stickum. ANY wide receiver with this stuff in his hands will look like an all-pro because their gripping power and catching radius will instantly magnify to greater lengths. If your gripping power and catching radius get that much greater, your ability to run routes and your route tree in general gets that much wider because of the fact that all you need to do is place a few fingers on the ball and the stickum will do the rest of the work. You are literally unguardable because as soon as the ball hits your palms, the ball is essentially yours; making any route you run, and any catch you make all that much easier. I'm not a hater and I do think he's a talented receiver, but the use of stickum taints his legacy to me - immensely.
kzhead.info/sun/a7eiYcySjZ2Fe6M/bejne.html
He tore his acl and came back 15 weeks later to catch a td pass damn that man is really the best wr
If I remember right he got injured again in that game. Other than that year he tore his acl he never missed a game. Whats crazier still is he made the pro bowl and had over 1000 yards when he was 40 after an acl tear. Wtf.
To all you, "stickem" people out there, you guys need to realize that current NFL gloves are a severe upgrade from stickem 😂😂
Rice wore gloves too though.
AllPro777 He wore tack gloves, all they had back then. They provided cushion for your hands. Today's gloves are catching gloves with very sticky adhesive that gets triggered by water. Today's gloves > Tack gloves with stick em
They just aren’t though...
Bostonzo B yes they are
You can't put a glove on your body
Rice is all class. no fancy TD celebrations and just goes back to get ready to go again. GOAT WR.
God I miss the "Montana to Rice days" the best Quarter back to Reciever ever
Love #16, but Steve Young was my favorite.
Could we all take time to admire the beautiful throes by the QB
That’s true man, but that’s not how you spell throws
Nicola Terzaghi 😂😂😂
WOW !!!! What a football player. Rice could do it all and would even block when needed. Hands down the greatest ! People who say no never say him play ....flat out
1: Jerry Rice, second half of his career. 2: Jerry Rice, first half of his career. 3: Moss 4: Owens
I agree with that, but do you seriously think the raider and seahawks version of him beats the young version of him??
I'd put TO over Moss, but that's a good list.
@@kray97 u crazy
It’s crazy the huge jump the picture quality did from 88 to 89
Garbanzo123 the 89 was from nfl films
Rice is the greatest, hands down. Dude was amazing in ALL areas of the field and for all downs. There is no WR that comes close to the level of difficulty in guarding him down for down.
Happy Birthday to the Greatest Wide Receiver in NFL History, Jerry Rice.
Daniel D Jerry Rice was better in my opinion.
Daniel D How you ask? -Better at route running -Better at reading the zone -Better at gaining yards after the catch -Better at blocking -Better competitiveness -Better longevity When it comes to actual football skill, Moss only did ONE thing better than Rice....catch the deep ball. Rice was better at EVERY other aspect of playing wide receiver. This is why Rice was still kicking ass at age 40 while Moss was washed up by age 33 when he lost half a step. Without his athletic edge he frankly was just another guy. There is a huge difference between being a better athlete (Moss) and being the better football player (Rice) Rice>>>>>>>>>>>>>Moss. By EVERY objective standard possible. -
7:47 my dad was at that game because our family are huge seahawks fans but we live in nj. My dad told me about that very catch and i wanted to find it and see it and it was on this video.
49ers fans like me this reminds us of our glory days
2 years later. Looks like a return to form. 8-0 baby.
@@tommieboi707 2023, y’all got the 1 seed, it all Depends on Purdy and how good he will be.
JERRY RICE IS JR OF 80 IN THE 80S... LEGEND!!! EVEN NINTENDO AND SEGA MADE THE ONLY NFL GAMES COZ OF HIM. SUPERB!!!!
He had one of if not his best statistical seasons with Elvis Gerbac at qb. Complete monster
The real 🐐
All you stickum people and Randy Moss fangirls out there, Jerry Rice only used it in 1985 which was his rookie season. If you wanna take away everything he did that season, that's fine. He's still greater than every other receiver to play the game.
Jay Cas How many other players at that time used stickum ???
Just can't give him over Randy. The man's last name is a verb
GOAT Wide Receiver. He was the Ballet of NFL Football.
Outstanding athlete , true professional and a wonderful human being
He didn't have a stupid endzone dance ,he didn't get a cellphone from under the goalposts, he didn't stand in the middle of the field on the other teams logo , he didn't jump in the stands and eat popcorn, he didn't run his mouth about how great he was ,but there was one thing he did do - he did it with class like no other.
Yeah idk why everyone gotta dance now
Who cares?
@Nightstalker_55 if he kept playing he wouldn't have gotten close to rice and he would have been a very sad excuse for a wide receiver and the fact that you even compare Moss to Jerry shows just how stupid you actually are
@Nightstalker_55 rice was always better and always will be and theres no debate there
He's The Greatest Football Player Ever His Numbers Speak Volumes.
Jerry Rice The GOAT
I'm glad I got to see him play. What an incredible person and athlete. The only G.O.A.T.
I was there for two of these plays. @2:50 against the Lions and @4:35 vs the Broncos. My father brought me back to Detroit every Thanksgiving to visit family and we would attend the Lion’s games. I think I was 15 at the time. My home team, the 49ers, just happen to play the Lion’s that year. I had a perfect view of Rice’s catch, I was sitting right next to the end zone, and you could see his knee just almost touch the ground, but he got up and kept on running and no one was even near him. It was beautiful….I was there for the Bronco game as well. They retired Montana’s number that night. Eddie D was there and everything. Rice just returned from being injured at the beginning of the year by Warren Sapp in the opening game vs the Bucs. Rice came back, got a TD and was out again. No one knew how serious it was going to be though. We thought he would be right back. That was also the game Bill Romanowski spit in JJ Stokes face. Niners won though. We went downtown SF to celebrate and my buddy made a u-turn right down Columbus st and a bicyclist smashed right into us; totally my friends fault. My friend begged him not to call the cops and gave him all the money in his wallet. The bicyclist was beyond cool and just took the money. Then we went to the Mitchell Brothers strip club and had fun all night long.
GOAT wr
Almost pulled a Desean Jackson on the first play
I think he actually did do a DJ move earlier in his career.
His career from 35 to when he retired would be considered a respectable career for most WR 😂. His yardage record is so untouchable. Even guys like AB or Julio that seem on track can’t maintain it for 20 years.
Jerry Rice, THE BEST EVER
I wish I had him in fantasy
The greatest of all time wide receiver Mr. Jerry Rice SAYS "Pull out your cell phone lets take a selfie" and on my birthday walking out Levi stadium.thank you Mr. Rice
I completely forgot he played his final season with the Seattle Seahawks. Still, the best wide receiver I've ever seen. #1.
HAPPY 55TH BIRTHDAY JERRY RICE
HAPPY 55TH BIRTHDAY JERRY RICE
Hell of a receiver glad to see him play for my Raiders before he called it quits👍🏽
Truely the greatest wr EVER AND ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE AND PROBABLY NEVER WILL BE!!!
Jerry is the greatest WR.
Bowman got released. Wow
Samuel Centurion Dead weight.
Jerry is the G.O.A.T. without a doubt, you name me 1 receiver at the ages of 39 and 40that has caught 83 passes for 1100 yards and 93 passes for 1200 yards. Guess what the Quarterback throwing to him at that time isn't enshrined in the Hall Of Fame either. If he isn't the greatest then I don't know who is. No other receiver was playing at 40 and helping to lead a team to the Superbowl, AGAIN AT 40 YEARS OLD.
I had completely forgot that he played that last year with the Seahawks. I may not have even known it at the time lol
Unbeliveble player💪💪💪I❤Jerry!!
THE GOAT, NO QUESTION!!!
Happy birthday Jerry Rice. The greatest receiver to ever play the game
The one from 1995 was cool but he caught one against dallas that same year that was only like a 6 yard bloop from Grbac and then outran Deion and like 4 other cowboys. It was amazing.
I totally remember that. I taped sportscenter the next morning just so i could watch it over and over
Played 20 was great for 18!! A Legend
Simply the Best. Better than all the rest.😎
This was when football was worth watching. He never had problems off the field either.
back when a catch was a catch.
Dam his speed and route running is superb
Greatest WR of All Time. Has records and rings to show for it 💯🔥.
I came up on Randy Moss so every now and then I have to come back to these to remind myself who the goat really is and it’s not even close
The man's LE-GEN-DAR-Y! Thank u for sacrificing 20 years of your life to give us 20 years of greatness.. 🏈🎆
Oh yeah, he really sacrificed....It's suuuuch a shame he had the privilege to play a game for millions of dollars for half his life then retire rich, famous, and beloved by all (except the stickum haters) .... Poor Poor Jerry....
Sly Tater 😳😂😂😂
Greatest player in the history of the game! Happy birthday 🐐
Tom Brady and Lawrence Taylor and peyton manning and randy moss> Jerry rice
Great highlights for the greatest!
I know I'm probably going to get proved wrong but in all my years of being a 49ers fan and watching football I've never seen a wide receiver like Jerry Rice, but that's not counting one hand catches they don't count it's how great he was.... Jerry Rice you are a G.O.A.T R F L I E L M A. E T E S T
Dang, when rice broke the record it was year before I was even on this planet. Crazy to think about
the goat
I think the only change I would make is I'd make the 1995 play where he torched Dallas for 81 yards with that pass from Elvis Grbac.
Don't forget how good of a blocker he was, as well. I'd like to see a compilation clip of him just throwing blocks
Not one time does he come talking smack to the defensive back. Class.
Amazing man
Legend.
One Emoji For Him 🐐
A true inspiration!!!! He was a class act unlike deion sanders.
🐐
Ramboth3 King Edelman is better in the SuperBowl
HAPPY 55th BIRTHDAY 🏈 🐐
I enjoyed watching rice as a kid when he was playing for the Seahawks you hardly see anybody that healthy at the WR position anymore
Or really anytime. Rice was one of a kind.
The 1988 NFC championship game against the Bears in Chi. in the snow, he had an amazing TD.
Greatest wide receiver of all times. So very fast.
His best play in 95 was definitely the 81 yard TD against Dallas.
Jerry Rice > any other nfl WR
Not moss
ItzYaBoy ShreK you’re dumb
It's really not even close either. Only delusional fanboys think Moss is better.

@@bigxchubstv6056 he was better than moss its common knowledge
Happy birthday

Jerry Rice is the king of Wide Receivers Niner Nation
Jerry Rice is a Legend and a GOAT
Greatest player in NFL history
The Greatest Wide Receiver Ever
Can't believe this has had legends like Ronnie Lott , Joe Montana,Charles Haley ,Terrell Owens ,Steve young
Joe Montana’s drop back is so beautiful.
Shows how the game has changed. You don't see that many dropbacks anymore. And if you do, they look nothing like how Montana did it.
It's like watching ballet. It looks effortless too....like he barely even breaks a sweat getting separation and being wide open for the catch.
How come this video doesn't have Rice's best catch in Broncos training camp?
Happy birthday Jerry!!
The GOAT 🐐!!!!!!!!!!
The G.O.A.T best player ever and one of my favorites
That's why he is the GOAT
Some of these plays are absolutely brilliant from the 2 hall of fame qbs
I would appreciate him a ton more had I watched him play in his prime.
Rices best catch in 94 was the one right before halftime of the NFC title game against Dallas imo
Happy Birthday, Mr. World !!
you forgot 94 Super Bowl catch. Steve Young to Jerry Rice. Opening drive TD
That play fake at 0:36 was masterful ..geeze
THE GREATEST!
