  • Allowing for inflation in NFL passing statistics, there is no imagining what Jerry Rice would accomplish in today's game. The rules have been softened to the degree that defense has almost been outlawed. Jerry Rice caught passes for over 20,000 yards over a 20 year career. For 208 touchdowns! In today's game those numbers could be doubled. The Eighties were probably the NFLs greatest era. Most of the NFLs highest rated performers played at least some portion of that decade. Don't forget against the Broncos, Rice carved up a secondary that had Steve Atwater and Dennis Smith. Two of the finest ever to play. The 49ers and Rice were simply that good. No player ever prepared to the degree that Jerry Rice did. Talk about Heartbreak Hill. The Hill Rice trained on was on a steep grade over Two Miles up!! No wonder no one could stay with him late in games. There is sprinter speed and there is Jerry Rice speed. Those hotshots running 4.3s in the first quarter, were gasping out 5.8s in the fourth period! Scouts and coaches place too high a premium on pure speed. Not enough on maintaining a sustained level for a full game. Jerry Rice made certain that the fourth quarter was his personal Prime Time. Eat your heart out Deion Sanders. Not only footballs greatest player. The man who shone the brightest in the biggest games. Jerry Rice was the only GOAT in the pasture. Grazing on all the grass. Just as he devoured every defensive back he encountered in his peerless career.

  • He's the best and has always been my favorite. Sad to see he ended with the Raiders. As I hate the Raiders. He was the reason I wanted to be a wide receiver in highschool but I didn't have the guts to take the hits so I quit after three months. But he definitely could take a hit as he proved in Superbowl 24 when he got the wind knocked out of him. Amazing player and so fun to watch over the years! Love you Rice. Such a class act too.

  • 6:02 wow, I don't know if i've ever seen a receiver catch the ball on a slant down the middle and get slammed by a defender going the opposite direction just for the receiver to bounce off and use the momentum to start running into the endzone. This guy is pretty good

    @jared_deraj@jared_deraj9 ай бұрын
  • I'll just say this, Jerry Rice retired because his legs were giving out (age) and he wasn't in the position to play a special teams role. But 100% this guy would have been signed at 42 years old by the Bucs right now in Jan 2022 if he was available at that age. In spurts and in a specifically receiving position, he could still be effective. I think his greatest TD is still in his last season when he played with Seattle for half a year. Caught a legit one-handed catch in the corner of the end zone. No bobbling, he snagged it like it was nothing. Just an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime player.

    • 5 catches, 77 Yards and 1 TD isn’t really shutdown but y’all did a good job on HOF Tim Brown. He had just 1 catch for 9 yards. Rich Gannon tho. 5 picks and 3 of them returned for TDs. Tuff nite.
