What your family could not afford cable to see other games? SO dedicated to watching the Detroit Lions play so you could see your little Barry Sanders tiptoe and jerk and shake and spin his way into the arms some of the NFL's best secondary or linebackers?? • He never ran for 1,000 yards in a season. He did have a career average of 5.4 ypc, which is obviously great. Why didn't he get more carries? He was quite good in baseball too, he had a 32 HR, 105 RBI, 26 stolen base season. Also Bo is the best player in any Tecmo football game by far.

    @USAR8888@USAR88882 жыл бұрын
    • Payton was consistently the best I’ve seen, especially given the length of his career. Barry Sanders would be next, but quit too early. I would like to have seen Wilbert Montgomery at least be in this list, and was afraid they were going to leave Marcus Allen out until near the end. They put in a few quarterback runs and “consequential” runs that could have been left out. And perhaps they should have included the game with OJ running in the snow for a record, even if he turned out to be a double-murderer who just didn’t get convicted for it. Still this was a fun one to watch and I was glad they got Dorsett’s 99.5 yard run in there. I saw that one as it happened on TV.

      @HQBergeron@HQBergeron2 жыл бұрын
    • @@HQBergeron I definitely think Payton was the better running back between him and Sanders, no disrespect to Sanders. But Payton's longevity and hardly missing a single game throughout his career despite the beating he took day in and day out definitely makes him the better RB in my opinion. Not to mention he was a crazy good blocking back, something rarely mentioned. And had 1600 extra receiving yards than Sanders.

Also, literally the entire list could be made up of Barry Sanders runs. He’s the greatest running back to ever take a hand off without debate. Most consecutive 100 yard games, most consecutive 1,500+ yard seasons. 2,000+ yards his MVP year in ‘97, and 5 yards a carry his entire CAREER and did it behind the worst O-line in the NFL. He’s the undisputed goat. With ease. Oh, and that was absolutely NOT the number 1 run ever get outta here. Barry had 3 that should’ve been above that one.

    • I totally agree . One stood out to me though . Being a product of Run to Daylight , I saw the Packers great #31 , Jim Taylor , break a sweep and some 40 to 50 yards downfield have #76 Bob Skoronski ?? Get ahead of Taylor and keep the DB from trying to stop Taylor . Certainly some very , very wonderful RBs with " moves " that are almost unbelievable .And the " Power " RBs . !! AlStott , Campbell , Csonka , Jim Brown ( he was amazing ) I really don't mean to overlook any one in those clips , whatsoever The one clip that I really got a chuckle out of was Kenny Stabler s 30 plus yd run for a TD !! This clip is fabulous . For us Old Timers , seeing runs from the 50s , 60s , 70s , etc brings back a whole lot of memories !!! . For the younger viewers ,they probably wonder why the clips showing a quarterback sneak , or 3 yard run by a Colts RB (Ameche ? ) are on this clip . I'm fairly certain that RBs , Hugh McElhaney, W. Galinore ( the Wisp ) The predecessor , to great Chicago Bears RBs Gayle Sayers , and " Sweetness " . This clip is terrific . It touches just about everything From the historic TD in OT , Ice Bowl QB sneak to The TD that marked the greatest comeback in SB history !!! Some obscure " Old Timers " players . I hope younger fans , players , coaches will watch this wonderfully researched film .Not only from the terrific runs by the RBs but the complete efforts of the rest of the O getting downfield to block . Not to overlook the seemingly " ho Hum ' running plays that shaped the history of the NFL . I can't even imagine how much work , study and time this piece took to create . But , I really , really think it's terrific . Thank You !!

Barry had 3,062 carries for 15,269 yards, with an average of 5 yards per carry. His longest run was 85 yards. He had 352 catches for 2,921 yards and scored 109 touchdowns.' Walter Payton rushed for 16,726 yards, (1,457 more than Sanders), which broke the record for most rushing yards by any NFL player in history. He caught 492 passes (140 more than Barry) for 4,538 yards and 125 touchdowns (26 more than Barry). The ONLY place that Barry Sanders stats are better than Walter Payton is the yards per carry average, where Barry had 5 and Walter averaged 4.4.

  • Thanks for posting this. So many great names you hear reference to but never actually seen run, like Jim Brown for example. Being a Bears fan, I would have liked to see Neal Anderson, who gets overlooked because Payton was so great, and Devon Hester filled the stands with his kick off returns. Even one in the beginning of the SuperBowl.

It's honestly one of the two or three most firmly-imprinted memories in my life along with Flacco-to-Jacoby in Denver 2012 & maybe Lucas scoring for Tottenham vs. Ajax in last season's CL Semifinal, though that one is still too recent to know I suppose. Regardless, that's still more so than: Ravens '00 SB, Ravens '12 SB, UMD Men's Basketball '02, UMD Women's Basketball '06, Caps Stanley Cup '18, my 1st kiss or 1st time having sex, getting married, getting divorced, meeting Royce da 5'9" @ Rock The Bells '09, getting blazed with Mustard Plug's drummer @ Warped Tour '07, 9/11, the DC/MD sniper, Hurricanes Floyd + Isabel, the '08 & '16 elections...you get the idea.
