  • Harrison’s pick 6 deserves way more credit. I saw that shit live. It was madness that he made it to midfield. Every player on the cardinals offense had a chance to tackle the man and he just kept running and high stepping and leaping over guys, it was surreal then and it remains surreal. Harrison probably hadn’t run a hundred yard dash since grade school. Larry Fitzgerald catches up to him 3 times, Townsend tries to take the ball from him right after them play starts because what business does James Harrison have running a pick back? And the way he protects and lands in the end zone! 14 point swing to end the first half of The Super Bowl. It’s the best sports play I’ve ever witnessed.

  • The TD by The Fridge in '85 loses a lot of its luster when you realize that Walter Payton got screwed out of what turned out to be his only opportunity to score in a Super Bowl because Ditka decided it was more important to humiliate an opponent that was already getting blown out.

    @mikeaudette2823@mikeaudette28234 жыл бұрын
    • I agree 75% but for two things. Most important, NE keyed on Walter the whole game. On one play he went right, and 5 Pats followed him while McMahon went left and walked into the end zone. Second, the Bears final score came toward the end of the 3rd period. No one could've known, as easily as they were scoring, that would be shutout in the 4th period. The sad thing is, as good as the team was in the mid-to-late '80s, they only made it to one SB.

  • Had the bears won Super Bowl 41 18:46 would’ve been much higher. The play and reading was nigh-flawless, out of nowhere and the cinematography was gorgeous. The camera flashes in the stadium to open the Super Bowl and this kick, along with the lush green tropical field and blue/orange SB logo and teams just make a visual beauty. The colts/bears contrast is just great. Not to mention the amazing looking the cameras in that 2006-2007 period transitioning from the late-90s era technology to the 2008 absurd resolution and new screen graphics. It’s the perfect sweet spot of quality while having natural nostalgic value. This entire game, trash or not from the bears offense, was eye candy, even when it got more gritty and cinematic with the downpour

In that era of football, two offensive players touching a pass in sequence without a defensive player laying hands on it between was a penalty. We've seen nearly identical plays several times the last couple years, only the rules changed to make that a legal play. • My all time play from having watch football for 52 years is the Riggins run (with help from The Hogs) in the '87 Super Bowl. We had about 7-8 people in a small den in my house, and as soon as Riggo broke clear from McNeal every single person screamed and leaped up, sending assorted drinks and munchies into the air and everwhere. One buddy to this day despairs with the memory - he was sitting on the floor in front of the couch, and he missed everything (at least live) after the McNeal broken tackle because two people vaulted off of the couch and fell on top of him. I had no complaints about the extensive clean up I had to do the next morning...

  • The David Tyree catch in SB42(ranked #3 play here) is still the most wild play I've ever witnessed in football. The catch itself was absolutely unreal. All the circumstances surrounding it were unreal, the biggest moment in the biggest game. The fact Eli should've been sacked multiple times but stayed on his feet. He just heaves the ball up into the middle of the field with 3 defenders in the area and Tyree goes up into the air and pins the ball against his helmet and then he had the strength to keep it pinned despite all the contact and landing on his back on top of the defender, almost like a backbreaker move in wrestling and the ball was like an inch away from touching the ground. Before he could get his other hand on the ball, he was barely holding onto it with like two fingers pinching the laces while at the same time having to press it into his helmet to keep it from getting bumped out of his hand. The whole thing was miraculous. I've seen that highlight probably 100 times or more, and each time I'm still in absolute disbelief that he held onto it. To me it's the greatest catch I've ever seen in the game of football. Funny thing is, in the Giants final practice prior to the game, Tyree was dropping passes left and right. If you ran that exact scenario 100 times, 99 of them would be incomplete passes. Maybe even lower odds than that. It's one of those things that's even better than whatever fiction you could dream up.
