I HAVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY RATS, in such a small area.
Asked by Premire Pest services to help thin the numbers out, I was only too happy to help. In this video you will see the extent of the problem. We had an absolute blast.

    • AFAIK in India (or Pakistan) there was a time where residents were told to hunt snakes with money in return, it was sort of effective until one day they were running out of snakes so the people decided to breed the snakes instead so they can still make money. The government did learn this afterwards so they shutted down the project. Doing the same thing but with rats will pretty much end the same way as what happened there.

  • Excellent presentation ... we in SE AZ have packrats galore and field / house mice. The pack rats carry Rocky mountain spotted fever and other deleterious. often dangerous diseases, that affect pets and humans. Nice to see these dispatched so well! Traps can only work so often; many times even the BIG plastic jaw traps that can snap a critter in half, don't work often as baits get stolen too! Sometimes traps DO catch a critter but can be dragged off. Thinking to get an airsoft pistol and take care of a potential problem before winter here sets in.

Plus scope, filling and peripheral equipment, it is a really nice setup and also fairly expensive. A quality spring powered air rifle with iron sights and a tin of pellets is a good way to start.

  • A COBRA IN MY HOUSE When living just outside Selma, Alabama in 1965 . I was 14. My father had married a waitress named Maude. She was a homely looking woman resembling a man more than a woman or maybe more like an ox. She was stout with a prominent mustache. We lived in an old but stable white house with an orchard in the back including a large lemon tree. Father still sold house insulation and would be gone for days or weeks at a time. Maude would always go with him along with her chihuahua dog. While they were away, I went to school by bus, came home, did my school work and busied myself sculpting clay into animals like cobras, elephants, dogs, gorilla head and the like. I then painted them with oil paint to look more real. But I found that the paint would never dry because of the oil in the clay. I also painted landscapes and drew caricatures of students at school which I sold for $5 each. Another pass time I had was watching TV and shooting the mice and much larger rats that ventured to find food in the house. I had a pump BB gun which did the job quite well. I could see the living room, dining room and the kitchen from my perch on the couch. So when one came sneaking in, it would stop for an instant next to a wall by the doorway, POW!! I got it. I disposed of it outside and then waited for the next. One night I decided to see what would happen if I placed my clay cobra in there. I placed it where most of the rats made a fast dash through the dining room. Then I waited. Sure nuff, a good sized rat came to the edge of the door, it looked around and made its fast dash across the room. Suddenly it ran right into the cobra. The rat leaped high in the air doing a somersault in the air as it came down and hit the floor. Its legs were moving so fast that it was sliding on the floor and it knocked the cobra over with it landing on the rat. It was on it’s back with legs running as fast as it can and squealing. Never knew a rat could squeal that loud. ……. Then silence. I went over to see the rat with paint all over it and the floor. I picked it up by the tail. It was very dead. I thought it died of fright. I threw it out with the others. I was pleased I had created an effective rat killer. So I repainted the cobra and set him up again. The next rat was frightened away by it in time. So, POW!! I got him. I killed three rats that night. When I went to bed I left the cobra in the same place just outside the kitchen door in the dinning room and went to bed, then fell fast asleep. Around 3 AM I was suddenly waken by a loud scream and a bang, bang, bang. Jumping up and running to the dinning room, I saw my stepmother standing on a chair screaming and my father with his 32 snub nose pistol pointing at my now destroyed cobra. I cannot forget the look on my dad’s face as he was bent over looking at the dead cobra, then turning his head to look at me, while still bent over with his mouth wide open. He was stuck between being mad at me because of the damage to the hardwood floor, the extreme fear, and the plain funniness of the situation. He finally started laughing while Maude was still standing in the chair now screaming at me. My father always scoffed at my art as a waste of time but still bragged to others when we had his friends over time to time. He told this story over and over while drinking with a friend at home. It was funny watching him re-enact it while somewhat drunk. I was afraid that he was going to shoot somebody during the act. By the way, I did get into trouble, but mostly because Maude wanted my art out of the house because it ’stunk’. The oil paint had linseed oil and turpentine in it. I wish I had Plaster of Paris back then. Visit my FB art at Delmus R Ingle: Artist.

    • @@aherrns1894 ,,,, LOL,, I have thought about that many times. There are many reasons why I resist that idea. It would be about my life mostly. It was bad enough without being extremely so. Young men could learn a lot by the read, however, young men are not inclined to read such. The other main issue would be getting someone to publish in this social climate. I am white, male. not gay or part of any ethnic group. The lessons that could be learned have nothing to do with any of that. It is just about being male. .. I do appreciate the compliment, but I think I can do more good by just sharing here in open space to those not afraid to read. There is room here, I will post a few for you, Rob, and Sam. Enjoy and give me your thoughts.

    • Me at 14. The school I went to in 1965 while living near Selma, Alabama was called White Hall. I think. It taught grades 1 through 12, had about a hundred students, not much over, if any. My seventh grade class had only seven students, four boys and three girls. Funny how I can still remember the school yard with four great oak trees and the one white plank sided building. It was a good school, but we moved so much that I did not have a complete school record for the first half of the school year. I think I went to seven schools that year. So I had to take their midterm exams in January even though I had not been there. I passed them all but don’t remember the grades. After the tests I waited in an empty classroom for them to be graded. While there, one of the girls of my class came in. I had just met her the day before. She seemed distraught, agitated. After some small talk, she grabbed my hand pulled me rapidly into a coat room and closed and latched the door. I thought it odd that a coat room would have a latch on the inside. I thought she just wanted to tell me something. She started taking her skirt off while saying,” I’m sorry, but my boyfriend isn’t here today and you are the only safe person here, "I want you to fuck me.” I thought it was a setup and started for the door as I said so. She blocked me and said no, just fuck me, please. So I did. I never knew sex could happen and finish so quickly. She climaxed in about 90 seconds flat. Then just said thanks and left. I never came. It was only my second time at bat. She never gave me any special attention after that. Later, I met her boyfriend and found out why she said ’safe’. He was built like a MAC truck. No one else would touch her and I wasn’t going to say a thing. I still did not learn a damn thing about female nature. Seventh grade is 13 to 15 year old students. Definitely too young to be having sex. But country folks are often raised on farms where they see animals copulate often. Also this was during the ‘hippy culture’ of great rebellion and rock n roll.

Ive just picked up a Webley raider 12 (great entry level pcp) new w/ scope for under £500, costs me a quid each refill at my local range and that's good for about 100 shots. I could buy a pump for £100 but as i use a range its much easier paying for a refill if you dont need to be re-filling off range. I also grab a quick refill after im done at the range so i can enjoy some garden plinking :)

I remember one time my brothers made one mad by throwing concrete chunks at it. The thing decided to come after me! I couldnt get over how big those rats got. We decided to take our 22 Rifles down behind the dump and man what a day! It was rat city! We probably shot 50 rats that day.
