Gee its too bad that it does not recalculate after the initial activation. I wonder if that is something that Garmin can work on. In a real engine out situation- and if you were also in meteorological conditions - having that calculated could be very important. Great demo though, thank you

Hello from Germany… I have a G500 TXI, G5, a GFC 500 and an GTN 750 (non xi) Then it doesn’t work, right? Do you know if the normal GTN 750 will work later? Thanx a lot :-)

No only the GTN Xi series will do this.

At Oshkosh, Garmin said this works with the experimental G3X, but not the certified version.

Ah but you still need the Xi type navigator. Interesting that you don’t need the navigator for the experimental G3X though. Not sure why the certified would need the Xi if the experimental didn’t..

@@Tetra84 might be because the G3X internal GPS is only VFR vs the GTN Xi is an IFR certified TSO’d GPS navigator. Experimental easier to do because you don’t need the FAA certification.

I have a question for you on the Smart Glide. I was reading one of the many things Smart Glide dues to unload the pilot duties is to change the Radio's to appropriate and the Transponder to 7700. While you are testing it and doing this Video, how do you prevent the Transponder from going to 7700 at the time of Selecting Smart Glide? - Thanks in advance.
@sparkie951 Жыл бұрын
It does not automatically do that, it does, however, bring up a screen, which is one button to press to do it. It is also one button press to turn the radios to Guard (121.5) to announce an emergency.

'Smart Glide' is not smart enough to know when an airport comes into range?

Not yet, but after my video Garmin is looking at possibly changing that. This scenario would only occur in a partial power loss.
Great demo! Thank you.
Nice concise video. Thanks for the demo. I’d like to see some more Mooney content showcasing the capabilities of this equipment
