There's a new Supra coming, and it's got big shoes to fill. The Toyota Supra is a legendary car for many reasons- not the least of which is its 2JZ inline six engine. It’s a bulletproof cast iron behemoth that can reportedly make 800hp if properly set up and tuned. Find out why the 2JZ is so sought after, and how it’s capable of getting such monstrous power numbers… Fall in love with the 2JZ GTE!
Special thanks to Wes Gibson, and here's some more of his sweet 2JZ build footage: / @wesgibson1185

    • @@SaladFingers_ Not any theory based on the laws of physics - the speed of light is an absolute limit.

      @peglor@peglor5 жыл бұрын
    • @@peglor The reason the speed of light is the limit is because there is nothing faster in the universe that we know of. That doesn't mean a human would magically die the moment the speed of light would be theoretically exceeded... Your comment is completely irrelevant to my original statement.

      @SaladFingers_@SaladFingers_5 жыл бұрын
    • @@SaladFingers_ You fundamentally misunderstand the laws of physics - your mass increases to infinity as you approach the speed of light. An infinite mass can''t be accelerated without an infinite force.

  • The coding system works simply: the first numeric character(s) represents the engine block's generation, the next one or two letters are the engine family, and the suffix, separated by a dash, lists the engine's features. For example, a 2GR-FE engine (used in the Avalon, RX 350, and Highlander) is a second-generation (2) engine in the GR-series featuring an economy narrow-angle valve direct overhead cam (F) with electronic fuel injection (E). The suffixes for Toyota engine naming are as follows: A - Valvematic variable lift intake head B - Twin SU-style side-draft carburetors (After 2000, 'B' indicates capability for E85 Ethanol) C - Carburated / California Emissions Controlled D - Twin Downdraft carburetors E - Electronic Fuel injection F - Economy narrow-angle valve DOHC G - Performance wide-angle valve DOHC H - High compression, High-pressure charged I - Single-point fuel injection J - Autochoke in early models, unknown pollution control later L - Transverse M - Philippines' market N - CNG fuel P - LPG fuel R - Low Compression (uses 87 and below octane fuel) S - Swirl intake SE - D-4 Gasoline Direct Injection T - Turbocharged U - Japan-spec emissions w/ catalytic converter V - Common Rail Diesel Injection (D-4D) X - Atkinson cycle (most-used on hybrids) Z - Supercharged

  • Lots of awesome stuff I didn't know about the 2JZ! Seriously overdesigned and overbuilt for a factory stock street engine. But I believe the oil squirters were added primarily for piston cooling more than for piston lubrication, although I'm sure they help with that also. I'm no JDM expert and could be quite wrong. The "New Supra" is a BMW bastard. For many reasons, I don't think it will ever live up to the legendary Mark 4, but we will see! These are exciting times for auto performance! A bit like a 1960s renaissance :D Good video, thank you.

If I remember the outer cylinders flowed way odd compared to the inners. But oh man that block density and thickness up top was amazing. The stock injector flow rates were quite impressive as well. No wonder why they became the monsters they are. That getrag trans was another badass piece.
