They used the physical characteristics of Deinonychus instead because it is more physically intimidating. Do you remember the scene in the first movie where Grant had excavated a raptor skeleton? It's not where Velociraptors are discovered.

  • One big misconception about claws is that they don’t actually deal slashing damage, but, more accurately, tearing damage. They don’t have actual blades, only points. True slashing is all but exclusive to human weapons and tools.

    @dragoknight589@dragoknight589 Жыл бұрын
    • That's what I was wondering about recently. I was building a D&D (technically Pathfinder but D&D is more universally understood) character in game who would wield a dragon claw as a weapon and I was unsure what type of damage to attribute to it, whether it would be slashing or piercing. Sadly there wasn't anything about that in the rule book item and there isn't any comparable build in current servers ever since the dinosaur nerf.

      @Buphido@Buphido Жыл бұрын
    • @@Buphido I'd assume that if it's a dragon claw with a handle stuck to it, there might also be the option of sharpening it and giving it a cutting edge. Dragon claw spears are much more clear-cut in that regard.

  • My claw tier list: F: Sea lions. What are these even for? D: Most primates. Their nails, while sharp, don't really aid in grappling (which these builds excel at without their claws anyway) and are pretty weak in combat. C: Dogs, bears, cheetahs, sloths: Ground-gripping claws are not good for combat. Tree gripping claws are awkward as hell to actually use. But they do grant a mobility bonus. B: Giant Anteaters. These claws have some of the highest anti-armor bonuses in the game and are so powerful they're used as anti-materiel weapons against fortifications. On the other hand, their basic damage is not great so they really need to be able to grapple into a crushing attack to make these things lethal. Horses and giraffes: Mobility bonus AND a super powerful attack with good reach and low end lag? Most lizards since their claws are both very sharp and good for climbing. A: Cats: moderate damage but excellent grip to help them land a lethal bite attack. Birds of prey: brutal damage rivaling bite attacks, plus excellent accuracy. S: Crabs. One of the strongest crushing type attacks in the game. Pistol shrip: Ranged hydrodynamic shock attack? WHAT?
