  • I feel like normal cattle cows could be in S teir as well. They just have a slightly different play style. They sacrificed a lot of their play time for optimizng their build to be able to exploit the insanely OP human player's defensive infrastructure like fences, walls, guns and even human pets to keep them alive. And as a result they're able to copensate with an enourmous boost in the sheer number of playtroughs. Probably the most of almost any mammel except for maybe pigs and some small rodents. It means they don't really have to spec into any defensive stats or any main stat at all for that matter, except HP, and get a very easy playtrough most of the time. If you think about it, their play style is a lot more like mice/rats but way bigger and easier.

  • I really like the stand alone videos on specific animal family groups, but I’d also love to see videos on certain outliers of said families that people seem to label as superior to the rest. For cattle it’s the gaur, ratites the cassowary, deer it’s the moose and as of late giant anteaters have been receiving credit for being able to fend off jaguars. I’d love a video discussing the cassowary, maybe calling it something like “The Problem with Ratites” given their general low placement on the tier list?

    @rl9217@rl9217 Жыл бұрын
    • “Are all ratites low tier?” might be a more fitting title since people sometimes seem to also bring up the fact that Emus alongside cassowaries shouldn’t be F tier, the group of birds is so interesting so their own stand alone video discussing which place higher then others would be great. He already hearted the original comment so I hope that means the idea might happen one day, I love the more bird based videos.

Their pack tactics ability is very similar to that of wolves, and although their intelligence isn't quite high enough to use them as a damage dealer companion, they still have some of the dog's positivity buffs as well. They make an exceptional high HP mount, or even a Tank party member! I've even seen cases where, with a high enough bond level, the cow will protect a sleeping human main.

    @twistedwookie327@twistedwookie327 Жыл бұрын
    • I would suppose that the large dinosaurs were probably banned because they started to stifle build variety. I think the devs really wanted to see what a mammalian meta could look like Some of the builds like Notharctus simply got improved in general, so they lost their playerbase over time. Niche optimization is what's killed most builds, since you'll find very few that are willing to play a build that's slightly worse in every regard. It's also very hard to get into a legacy build when there are no mentors willing to take you under their wing. Builds like humans and cyanobacteria also alter the game rules, making a lot of builds less viable.

Any build that has been in the game for this long in spite of all the power creep is successful by default. Sure, stuff like mosasaurus looked cool and was absolutely oppressive back in its day, but where are they now? Some might argue that losing their playerbase equates losing the game, since spawning in new players is the main quest. • Idunno, I feel like walls are C-tier at best sure they may have some of the highest defense stats in the game, and this stat can be further boosted thanks to the fortify ability from friendly players... but it comes at the cost of having all other stats near completely bottomed out. Not only does this mean an attack that can bypass a wall's defense will almost certainly cripple if not outright defeat it, but it also means that wall players are heavily reliant on other players to do much of anything. Heck, they're so reliant on other players that they can't even complete the game's main objective of reproduction without another player deciding that another wall player should be generated. A fun gimmick build, sure, and a strong defender at that. However, the over-reliance upon other playerbases to function severely cripples the walls' capabilities as a class. Now if they give it mobility or hunting skills in a future update, I can easily see it becoming a top-tier build, but for now it probably sits firmly in C-tier.

    @retard_activated@retard_activated Жыл бұрын
    • Gaur are strong but do not seem nearly as aggressive as cape-buffalo. Just look at any footage of a tiger attacking them. It's hardly a struggle, because the tiger just grabs its throat and the guar just takes it. Hardly kicking, thrashing, or charging as expected with cape buffaloes. Their horns also do not do nearly the damage as a cape-buffalo's, due to more awkward shape (recurving almost behind their heads and not very sharp). Albeit gaur attacked by tigers are normally smaller females and make up a very small part of a tiger's diet; tiger actually prefer deer and boars. Thus didn't evolve under the same constant regular stressors as cape-buffaloes, which are regularly hunted by lions and hyenas.

The guy had a gift for storytelling and by the end all of us felt a lot of empathy towards the plight of the poor buffalos. So right after he gets done telling us about how they're doing better now but really pulling on our heart strings to make us care about them, he ends with, "Oh and where we're going there's a restaurant that serves bison steaks you GOTTA try them they're so delicious." Bloody SILENCE on the bus as we just stare at dude who insisted we eat the animal he just spent 10 minutes making us care deeply about.

Animals like cows, pigs and chickens are incredibly numerous because we raise and eat them, and encouraging people to eat bison might do the same, especially since there are between 200,000-500,000 Bison being raised for meat. Plus Bison will also attack and kill other bison during mating season so it’s not a problem to take one or two out (and perhaps enjoy the meat while you’re at it) to help keep the population healthy.

  • You should’ve mentioned musk oxen as you did in your arctic meta vid. They’re undoubtedly S tier in my eyes. Not only do they have long, hooked horns for sweeping and impaling; they’ve also got an incredibly thick skull, which combos well with their high speed to create one of the strongest charge attacks in the game, being bested only by builds in a higher weight class. You’d think that such a powerful build would need huge amounts of loot to sustain, thus forcing it into solo queue, but their ruminant ability lets them make the most of every xp source in their environment, meaning they actually sustain themselves pretty easily and can still engage in OP group behavior that makes them almost immune to their only potential predators: wolves and bears. Musk ox players could face some stiff competition if arctic wolves ever decide to bulk up, but for the foreseeable future, musk oxen are completely uncontested top tiers.

    • yep, i've seen one split a massive wood beam in half with a single kick... at the cost of its own leg which pretty much exploded below the knee i wouldn't want to be hit by that, omfg. thank you, wood beam. your sacrifice will be remembered.

  • As a gaur player in the Indian servers I gotta say that they have the highest damn HP of the bovines, tigers will not attack out of knowing the amount of combo and quick moves needed to take the build down. It is only unlock-able by completing the water Buffalo survival event.

  • don't forget that bisons from NA have a very close relative in europe (mainly france and poland) where it has slightly bigger horns and longer legs where it is more useful in snowy forests, also with a grey skin it can be pretty hard to see even if the animal is quite large.

    • Other advantages of the European bison include being browsers instead of Grazers and having higher held heads with front facing horns. Granting them access to more food and better combat options. He said bison used to be S-tier, and I say they still are whit an exception of American plains bison.
