Saggy/loose ABC pillar fabric are a VERY common problem on all e46 bmws. This can make the cars look older.

  • On the areas that rub like the seatbelt area and sunvisor clips the best thing to use is clear headlight film. You just cut a piece and adhere it to the areas that rub and it's invisible and protects the painted parts from rubbing through to to underlying color.

    • I have broken so much I swear some year BMW models have better quality than others. Some crumble and some don't. If you can get the plastics new. New fabric on Old plastic still breaks

  • i wrapped mine with vinyl from wal mart using 3m super 77 spray. i live in south texas and they have been holding up for 3 years now. literally paid less than 20$ to fix A and C pillars. follow the glues instructions and it will last for years. i see mine lasting another 5 years easy. got the idea from a forum where everyone said the 3m glue is the best for the heat down here

  • I covered all the pillar covers, the headliner, and the rear speaker panel with foam backed black leather look vinyl in my 2001 330ci. It was a bit of a pain to get wrapped around and formed to the really curved areas, but very much worth the trouble in the end. I wish I post pictures here to show what it looks like, because it looks fantastic. The black leather look vinyl goes great with the rest of the interior which is now entirely black top to bottom.

  • Just did this working off your guide - thanks for posting! A quick note: I actually had to remove the fake leather piece below the B pillar to reinstall properly. You can remove the B pillar fine the way shown, but the leather piece under it has 3 tabs/clips that need to wrap around the back and up into the B pillar. I couldn't figure out a way to get those tucked back in without completely removing the bottom leather piece. It's twice as much work but worth it if you're anal about this kinda stuff like me.

  • On the front pillar if the tabs broke you can use some good quality removable double sided tape as long as the strip is in good condition. Be careful if the tape can adhere to texture. I had some high temp smushy type, no visual difference to the strip with with tabs still intact.
