  • Out of all the other videos, this is the only one that goes really in-depth with all the pillars. I am currently missing some pieces from the pillars but now I know what to watch out for and get for my e46.

  • You dont need to remove the foot trims. You just have to pull it backwards / forward and there will be enough space to remove the bottom of the B pillar. That is quite hard too

  • Nice job! I have an E46 2001 330i. It has a gray interior. Went to jo Anne fabric and decided on black as well. Will be doing this in sections this week. Nice overview on removal of pieces. This will help tremendously.

  • I have a 2003 330xi I purchased last year. I had the interior headliner, but they would not upholster the pillars. The plastic was so fragile as I found out when I upholstered A and C pillars. I could not find any u tube videos on how to replace the B pillars except for yours. Thanks for the help, and oy was it a ton of work. I had broken some of the plastic pieces on every one of the pillars. Live and learn. By the way, this was my very first car to do this on.

    • Also, I'm 65 years old and have been retired for a year. I had so much fun learning, and it really boosted my confidence. Made lots of mistakes. Good thing it's my car. I'm also repairing a few small areas of the body and learning how to paint it with the help of my friend. What great therapy.

  • Great video. U relle go indepth n I like that you actually show the work being done unlike other people who just show the part alone.. imo I think you should have pull the fabric slightly tight this way to give it a little form. I've done mine n many e39s

  • Did you reattach those plastic trims back on the A pillar? I'm going to reupholster my e46 also and wondering how can I put them back and make it look flush with the pillars. did you glue them back on?

  • I have a 2001 BMW 740i sport with a black interior, grey pillars and headliner. I went with black, but on the B pillars I wrapped the sliding seatbelt adjuster insert with carbon fiber instead of leaving it grey. Left all the wood trim alone. I'm looking for 750il front seat backs in black.

  • This is a good vid. My only complaint is that you didn't give many wide angle views of the finished product. That would be a good addition. I have a 2004 325i, and just did the A pillars. I'll definitely do the B and C pillars soon. Thanks for the vid.

  • I don't get why you would cover them in black with a tan interior. My guess is that because it's easier to source black fabric locally than fabric matching the tan color, but black pillars in a tan interior looks terrible. It looks bettere than all that loose fabric, but not by much.

  • If you have used cellulosic thinner it would be easy to remove those fabric residues. No need to use dremel and damage the plastic.

  • Do you have a video on how you changed that ugly fake brown wood looking trim. I have the same car and it's all cracked and honestly very nauseating to my eyes and gives me horrible anxiety haha. I want to change it to black.

    @ebbyelsebai@ebbyelsebai6 жыл бұрын
    • I do not. If you search on an e46 forum I'm sure there are a lot of good DIYs of it. Basically for everything but the trim around the shifter you just need to get something soft under the trim and carefully pull up. All of the trim on the doors and dash is held in by little clips.

  • I was wondering why you would put black upholstery when the interior is beige but then I saw your interior trim and realized you're a professional car ruiner by trade.

    • Good because that stuff was fonky looking. I saw it at the end and I was like, "Whoa." for a second. Also when you disassemble your interior, thats when you can go in and do a good cleaning on every part front and back. Cool video.

      @craig_ramjet990@craig_ramjet9905 жыл бұрын
    • And now we've all realized that you're a professional moron. There is plenty of black trim in this car, and making jackass statements to people who are just trying to help others says more about you than him. I think you're too stupid to realize just how stupid you really are... How's that?

      @AquaStevae@AquaStevae4 жыл бұрын
    • @@AquaStevae At first. Look after dunning kruger effect, please. Secondly, he is very much right. The point is, he has got a good car, it's interior is just about perfect as it is. Then the guy in the video decided not to change it, but to ruin it. How that interior looks is disgusting. No offense, it's just a fact. I can imagine that in a video he is kicking his car to make it more "stylish". Or glue his towel on the seat, because why not? + the guy even used the worst possible material because it was cheap and not designed for it, so really, why not? If he would have done the whole interior giving everything a different color. Yes. That's still a very bad idea but that looks far more acceptable. (Seen it before.)

  • This video demonstrates just how flimsy our modern day automobiles are constructed. Starting with sub-standard materials (e.g. fabrics, adhesives, plastics, etc.) all the way through poor assembly methods at the factory, the majority of our cars are put together in a matter of hours and turned out by the thousands each day. Highly over-priced and inferior in quality, they end up in the driveways of unsuspecting families who end up paying way too much for car loans, auto maintenance and repairs. The whole system is designed to rob us blind and send us into debt for years to come.
