It's about supporting one's team. We already know what their message is. They do not want boring truths about history or objective fairness and empathy to play any role in their lives that affects their core racist beliefs. To do that, they need to control power, money, and have weapons. Cruz is so bad at delivering any message because anyone can tell he's a cuck - plain and simple. But they like that message of hate.

This creates a disconnect since it causes many in rural areas to think the Democratic party don't have their interests in mind, something that has been ripe for exploiting by Republicans in largely rural voting districts. It was what helped Trump edge out a win against Hillary Clinton in key battleground states for President in 2016.

I wish the news had reminded people of that fact when he was claiming the Dems stole 2020- it would have helped some people at least put things in context and say "this guy claimed that the Republicans stole Iowa from him in 2015- but there WERE no evil Dems involved in that." I think it would have been really useful to remind people of that fact.

You have to be born an American Citizen. Anyone born in America can have American citizenship and anyone with at least one parent who is an American can have citizenship. Although Ted Cruz was born in Canada, his mother was American so he was born with American citizenship.
