There is no way this is worth an upgrade if there's nothing wrong with your v2. If it's broke sure, but these reviews that pretty much just say "most of this mouse is the same", yet then go on to recommend an upgrade, are just dishonest. I got the V3 after my V2 broke, and there is zero meaningful difference.

The scroll wheel function was the only thing I was missing from the G502 when I switched to the Razer Basilisk V2. I love the concept of Smart-Reel as well. The change of the DPS shift triggermight be missed but I guess I'll see for me personally, but not a dealbreaker. Thanks for the review comparing the two, as this just sold me to upgrade since I had some Microsoft points to get me $40 of gift cards for Amazon.

Only thing i didnt like was the razor software, because it kept forgetting my settings after restarting, that Problem was solved by creating a cloud synched account. EDIT: - To everyone who things the scroll wheel unlock feature iss useless, its not. I LOVE IT, i expected it to be useless or something i would rarely use, but i use it constantly. Im doing a lot of work for universtiy on my PC and it has definetly been very useful and its in constant use rn.
Solid review. Actually thinking I might return my V3 and get V2 instead. As much as I'm loving the underbody lighting, I'm not a fan of the new side button instead of the lever.

I'm using v2 right now, and man, your review is the only one I saw, that mention that ****ng scroll wheel on v2. Where you really fighting with it, not to scroll anyway, just act like middle button. You didn't cover one point I was looking for. Since there's no default DPI button like Logi has, can you program it so each of your 5 DPI settings has a different color? One of the guys at Razer told me the scroll wheel lights act as this indicator, but I want to verify if that's correct, and also whether it goes back to your preferred color once it's done showing you what DPI setting you're on? The reason I'm asking for verification is the Razer guy was giving me V3 Pro wireless specs (weight, sensor sensitivity), even though I specifically asked for V3 wired specs. I'd also like to know if the Synapse 3 software has any of the problems Synapse 2 did, mainly difficulty installing and uninstalling it?
Hoping for a wireless update on this. Love my Ultimate, but as always I'm a sucker for those RGBs.

Hey bro just a heads up, the v2 color corresponds as well. I have mine set to wheel and it's in sync with my keyboard. You have to click the button that applies the chroma effect to all connected devices.

I use the scroll tilt all the time on my V2 to quickly go up and down stuff. But when I bought a V3, I found that the scroll tilt only worked on horizontal fields, left and right. No more vertical. Is V3 supposed to be that way? Or was my new mouse just broken?
Using this mouse now. Lighting is great. Downward slant on the front buttons where the right button is lower than the left feels odd at first.
I can't find it anywhere! No big store has it here and amazon doesn't send to my country, sadly! I saw it only in 3-4 small eshops here that have it "upon order" (meaning 20+ days) and it cost 85+ euros! Expensive! How much is the normal price? Is it worth it to wait for it? My g502 left button broke. I can still use it for browsing and such , but not for gaming (left click gets off sometimes). And im thinking about this, about v2, about deathadder v2 (too few buttons though) and about Hyper X Pulsefire Raid. What do you recommend me to do?
I answered a similar question few weeks ago to someone. I prefer going with the deathadder v2 especially if you have other razer products to fit the ecosystem and synchronization. You honestly don't need to many buttons but that's me.
Basically more rgb, higher dpi, slightly better switches, electronic scroll wheel and some more rgb. Dont switch if you already have v2.
Daim, that scroll wheel is nice, almost as good as mine, mine is so good it auto changes direction and then changes back when you stop, it also has fast scroll protection, stopping all scrolling when you go to fast so you don't miss anything, above the mouse all ready coming equipped with spam assist, clicking twice when you click, to get a leg up in battles in old minecraft

What needs to be taken into account is the V2 and other products currently on sale on Amazon, a Basilisk V2 for £40, that's a lot of mouse / functionality, as a budget gamer, I'd say get the V2, run it like hell and watch for the V3 on sale. The change from V2 vs V3 is mostly the RBG and the mouse wheel, but the mouse wheel function isn't really a game enhancing function, no one needs to scroll in a specific direction a great amount and if you do, it normally needs to be controlled to pick which weapon / mode. Just being able to spin it is.. Nice.. but so what? And the RBG, sure that's nice but that wave patter all over your desk wants me to vomit rainbows. :P
Yeah you summed it out pretty well. Like I mentioned in the video if someone did productivity the spinning wheel can be a benefit (certainly has for me). But for gaming other then the cool looking RGBs might not be 100% worth the upgrade. Thanks buddy!
For FPS games the use is limited, but when switching to games with long menus (think Minecraft inventory pre 1.3.0) or when actually doing your homework and scrolling through the endless physics formula sheet

Loving my Basilisk v2 :) So it seems like small differences= fore left lever/button and relocated *profile button, large differences are scroll wheel and adjustment and RGB lighting? Is there a big difference in perceived weight between the 2? *Edit: Missed out "profile" somehow while typing
The weight is about 5-10 grams light but to be honest it's not a big difference. The main thing is yes what you summarized :)
actually, I ran some tests and the new one has a 0.5 millisecond reaction while the v2 has a 0.13 millisecond response time
so that could help too

idk if you know but you can change every razer produkt in chroma studio so the v2 can wave but not in the same way just a minor detail that you can sync everything with one profile
Yooo bro! Im a bit like on the fence between the V3 and the Ultimate(with the dock). The Ultimate is $70 with the dock atm(53% off) and the V3 is 21% off. But idk which one to pick! Ones wireless and hella cheap but the other one is newer and has nice rgb. I would wait for the Basilisk Ultimate V2(?). But thats gonna be hella expensive. Currently stuck on a reddragon mouse where the cable is heavier than the mouse itself lmaoo! Hope you see this and give advice

thanks for the review. Had Basilisk V2 for almost 2 years and it just broke like month ago (it was clicking by itself, when I opened it, it was like a new and also didnt reacted on my clicks). Bought Logitech G502 Hero but dont like it much. Ill go probably again for V2 because I dont see enough improvement to upgrade to V3. Dont care much about the RGB neither for the scroll button (its disgusting that you can´t change the resistance of the wheel on G502... I dont like it at all)

I purchased basilisk v2 several days ago, and this was my first razer product. I liked the feeling of it in hand, so I thought " I will avoid marketing hype, somehow people managed with v2, and v3 wouldn't be much different". It was very nice, the precision was far superior than my 15-year old logitech mx518 (still alive). But then I noticed the wheel, though having a nice discrete feeling when you make light scrolling, feels very noisy and grating when doing fast scrolling when browsing. So I googled this video, and decided to return the product, and paying extra 40$ for v3. I tested v3 in the shop, and it was an instantly better wheel: It's less noisy, easier to scroll. If you are fine with v2 wheel, I think it's pretty much identical, though v3 lighting creates a nice hovering effect over the table.

Have you had any problem with accidental thumb button presses in games though, especially with boss fights? I came from a MX500, which did not have that problem, but the Logi G402, G502, and Roccat Kone XP I definitely had that problem with. I like that the Basilisk V2 is 92 gm vs 101 gm on the V3, partly because lighter means less chance of accidental thumb button presses. Not sure I'd like the scroll wheel of the V2 if it's as you described though.
@@MrFragManiac No, it's placed quite above the thumb, so I didn't have it once. I play CS mainly, though, and I rarely use additional buttons. The rubber grips look good for 1 year, the texture is intact, but the shin has gone pl places. I think I can tolerate it for 2 more years before upgrading.I don\t think it\s more long-living, but that\s ok for a peripleral you use 8 hours a day. Definitely a very good experience, combined with oled tv and a mechanuical keyboard. My precision raised considerably. It's been 1 year, and the only difference I see is the scroll wheel rotates easier, but still has distinct iterations. I'd ;like it to be more snappy like it was on the purchase day.
@@MIchaelSybi Only 3 yrs of use is not good IMO. I also don't like what I'm reading on the Razer support boards about synapse 3 suddenly not detecting the mouse anymore, and the scroll wheel ceasing to click. I had lots of problems with Synapse 2 back when I tried it with my headphones, don't want to go down that road again. This has lead me to buying another G402, got it for $20. My last one served me well for at least 5-6 yrs.
@@MrFragManiac Good if logi suits you. I found their last models to be a bit bulky and heavy to my taste, and razor basilisk just sits as it must sit in my palm. I knew it might be not durable, but I liked it so much I took the risk. I don't like their other products, like keyboards and mats. Logitech were quite durable, but I didn't pay much attention beyond their core functions, like the scroll wheel, two buttons and the sensor. I think 5 years is a pretty big timespan for a pc gear, it just outdates morally, for the most part
so I looked into this at rratings they have pretty good specs, what the pretty big difference I saw is the version 2 has a longer cord different DPI for that matter. And honestly, if you're trying to go for a cheaper but still really good mouse get the 2 it's more bang for your buck but if you like the extra stuff, definitely go for the version 3 it's got better rgb and it's also got better DPI (if you're into that kind of thing)

I've owned the V2 for 10 months now and my right click is starting to feel mushy and sticky. I will be sending it in for warranty work so hopefully they replace it with the V3. Very disappointed since my Razer deathadder worked flawlessly for years and still works perfect till this day.

I'm on a dilemma. I have Basilisk V2, but need a new one for my Laptop, on which i play Kovaaks(Aim Trainer). I have hard time choosing between this one and DeathAdder V2 PRO.Razer said this is a new sensor. Obviously it has 6k more DPI, but no one cares about this one. Is the sensor improved, in terms of preciouses, tracking, smoothness and so on, or is the same sensor as DeathAdder and Basilisk V2, with just added a bit more DPI ???

what is the difference between focus sensor, focus plus and focus pro? i guess there is no difference in between basilisk v2 and v3 sensor and i don't care about lighing. my basilisk x has no lighs at all, i do watch screen, not mouse, need to feel it like my right hand... so my x hyperspeed has some issues, triggering, freezing... i am not certain should i buy v2, v3, ultimate or viper v2 with focus pro sensor... i am using razer after deathedder 3.5 g 2012 :) imperator was best in fps for me, from all ever created but they canceled it... i got 60hz monitor, i play mobas only for now, i dont need more... 4k 60hz is mine, so viper 8khz is not an option aswell... shall i buy wired as i need sensor speed and quality? or focus plus? or focus pro? any advices?

I disagree... Mechanical stiffness of the wheel is useful for FPS because with a stiff wheel you won't do mistakes(like scrolling to next item and doing 2 steps instead 1)
V2 is kinda nicer with the Resistance wheel style

V3 weight is 101 g / 3.56 oz (Excluding cable) & 0.20 lbs / 92 g. So this means the V3 weighs 9 grams more. But to be quite honest its not obviously different.

The major problem with the mouse is that you cant precisely adjust the scroll wheel tactile speed to your liking, reviewers dont talk about it. -_-

Wired mouses are ancient. Cons: Its wired, Cant adjust scrollwheell fully, and sniper button is worse. Pros: decent RGB placement the click button materiel is good. and freespin. My v2 has a intermitant defect where when you scroll down with the wheel it goes up(no matter the resistance setting). Hopefully v3 does not have this issue.
Yea happened to me after 1,5 year too. I returned it in the warranty now and waiting for the refund. Recommend u to do that too if u still can.
also I had v1 too and it got defect with doubleclick right after 2 years so I bought v2 and now when they return me money am going to buy v3 :D

The two things I hate are. 1 Dpi settings change very easy. 2 Is the fps button I can not reach it with my thumb.

I don’t really use RGB for flashiness, I like it because it gives me versatility when changing my setups’s theme. If I go for any color changes than it’s mostly subtle color shifts (ec pink to purple) What I ment was that the RGB was the reason to buy a new mouse, I simply can’t justify such expanses
Honestly V2 is better than V3, because even though the latter has infinite scroll wheel and RGB it is also 9 gram heavier and, atleast for now, there are not extentions for the third mouse button on the side. I bought the V2 because it was a "light G502" but V3 just loses that quality
