Using Deathadder V2 pro and G502 at the moment. Returned the Basilisk V3 after 12 days. Indeed it's better for gaming than G502, but I couldn't live without those 2 buttons next to left click + G502 has much better left/right click feedback (it's also easier to press rapidly). What we really need is Basilisk V4 with those two buttons or G503...
With the clicks you convice me to change to g502, I feel the clicks a bit "cheap" the mouse is great, but for what I find is not the mouse that I need.
Do you prefer the deathadder or the g502?
Wheel went bad on my G502 after cleaning it. For 40 bucks, I ended up ordering another to replace it. It's a really good mouse and I couldn't justify paying double or triple more for something just because it has nicer RBG lighting. Especially since the one I have now lasted around 6 or 7 years.
Looking at Basilisk V3 Wired and ROG Keris Wireless for office and casual gaming use. So I will be bringing the mouse back and forth between office and home. I don't care about extra buttons, and both shapes work for me. Which would you suggest? Sacrifice features for wireless or the other way?
Just ordered a basilisk v3 as my G502 started double clicking, absolutely loved my G502 though
As a G502 owner, albeit of the older Proteus Spectrum, I love the mouse but the DPI +/- buttons are too easily hit by accident when using the main left button. Also I agree with other posters who report that the grooves in the shell rapidly get gunky and they are a PITA to clean.
I also had that problem, u can change the dpi bind to another thing or completely remove it
I bought a Basilisk V2 like a week ago because it was on sale, and out of nowhere they released the V3. I ended up returning the V2 to get the V3 and I am so much happier with the new scroll wheel. Although I think the smart-reel needs tweaking as I scroll too fast forward that it activates too regularly to be useful for me, the tactile feel is very nice. Much better compared to the "sensitivity adjustor" on the V2. I even bought the Razer Grip Tape, and it's made the mouse literally something that has changed gaming for me. The new LEDs and the new permanent side button has literally made this mouse, everything it could ever be. One of the best gaming mice out there.
Sniper metal button is cool. Form the same? Have v2. All good but need hide somehow little finger))
Are you having any issues relating to mouse feeling sticky when you're clicking?
@@RAIDEN_117 no
That is the same problem Logitech mice had with that same feature 10 years ago. I find the button to be the best way to switch modes (when I want to)
Hi, is the mouse still working?
Started with a basilisk v3. Electronic scroll wheel gave out on me within a few months, so every time I’d go to flick in game my weapon would change since it was stuck in free spin mode. Bought a second, and now the scroll wheel has gone out on that one within a year as well, doing the same thing. Just switched to the G502 and I’m loving the extra buttons and mechanical scroll wheel.
I had 3 logitech mice before I switched to the basilisk v3. All three of them had double clicking issues that rendered it useless. I'm loving the Razer!!
Had to buy a new mouse. Decided to buy both of these as I couldn't decide. Having a good (and WORKING mouse - looking at you Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro! >:( ) is very important to me and if one breaks I still have the other and I do lean toward heavier mice in general but never had a Razor and I think Razor make amazing mouses as well.
Great review - I’m set on the V3. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what are those two light stands either side of your monitor?
For the logitech you can add more custom DPI spots on the slider by just clicking anywhere. LG G Hub software will allow you up to 5 presets and you can delete them by clicking them and dragging them off the slider. Never used a Razer Basilisk but am quite happy with my G502 Hero for the amount of gaming that I do.
Spend the 60 bucks on a basilisk v3 and you won't regret it
I'm about to have one! I'm never using synapse again... the only one I had was death adder
I really liked the transitions at the start
I had G502 from 2016 so finally after 7 years when one of the sliders started to peel off I decided to just buy G502 (Hero) again and ... immediately Ive seen some not so nice differences, where Logitech cheapen out - cable was no longer braided, some tasteful coloring disappeared on the side and most importantly, the scroll wheel started to skip both ways after only 2 weeks. It just doesn't register sometimes for 4-5 moves which is very annoying and I am looking for alternative. This V3 razer at least have very similar button layout... EDIT: To me surprise, one of the tip I've found on reddit worked - blow air on it/in it while scrolling to dust it off and it works now. If I have to do it every 2 weeks I can live with that, but it remains to be seen how often this needs to be performed. IMO theres something loose around the wheel design and it allows for poor contact and dust to get there.
I own the G502se i love it! BUT..... I have been having issues with the right click, it doesn't stay pressed while aiming. So I have been looking for a mouse like the G502 I may end up getting the razer now.
I wish basilisk has that extra 2 side buttons that g502 has. I really love g502, but it's been double clicking on me and i think this is the closest thing to it.
Nice Video Loved It Always Wanted to see such a thing
Saw this video. Bought the Basilisk V3 on Black Friday 2021. Basilisk V3 LED lights comes faulty on arrival (Red LED light is always turned on) and when contacted support, they took 2 hours to reply using standard template answers and pointless test before mentioning to go back to the distributor.. Very disappointing experience for a new mouse that is launched in 2021 barely 3 months ago.. and also speak alot of the quality of mouse by Razor.
I didn't wanna let go of my plans to buy the 502 cos it looks so cool. But you convinced me, last minute.
My Deathadder double clicks randomly more and more for each month. Had it for many years before these issues came. I updated firmware on it (from 1.03 to 1.08) which helped for another year. Now it's back sadly. Swapping my Razer Deathadder for a Razer Basilisk V3!
WAS LOOKING FOR THIS MY GUY
Outstanding review as you are really informative and straight to the point. You don't waffle on with meanless BS like so many other people who do reviews on here. You explain at every step why you feel that the V3 is better than the G502 and you back it up with evidence. Hats off for this review as I had both the Razor V3 Basilisk and the Logitech Hero 502 in my online shopping basket. I will now definitely be getting the V3. Cheers bro.
Happy with your choice? What do you use it for?
Same here!
I went ahead and got the Basilisk V3 after owning the G502 Hero for a few years. This guy is right. This is largely just a better mouse overall. It feels nicer to use due to it's weight, its more nimble, The scroll wheel feels nicer and more precise and is less squishy, it looks cooler with the lighting, and the buttons are in better positions imo. The automatic mode switching of the scroll wheel feels really balanced to me and frees up the button below the scroll for something better. it would've been nice if the profile button wasn't on the bottom but it's not a big deal really considering the above, and profile switching can be remapped to any other button anyway so you can more or less have the same mappings as the G502.
Yee plus no double click issues, cuz they use optical switches.
What is the material of the mouse? My mouse at the moment has some sort of silicone, which wears of, and the razer looks kinda similar to it so ism worried that it will wear off to. Or ist it just normal plastic ?
@@Kellnax it's just normal plastic

Hey man i have a new basilisk v3 and it keeps switching weappns mid game cod when i lift the control or at random. Can u tell me why? Is it something i can ✋
Hey good review: what are the LED pillars named next to your monitor?
does RGB profiles gets saved on the onboard memory as well even if Razer synapse is not working
Just came here because I loved my G502... Until the double clicking became an issue. I'll be doing the switch to the V2 since it's a bit cheaper and really close to the V3 and I've always liked this form factor. I wish Logitech started using optical switches so I could love them again, but in the meantime, I'll go with Razer
you can switch your switches yourself
Is it good
@@Monkey. yep, after I think a whole month, I can say it is a pretty solid mouse. The only detail you lose from the G502 I'd say is the mechanical clicky feel to a, still kinda clicky but just a little bit mushy click. Still, worth the upgrade

how the lifespan on the little clutch that locks the scroll wheel? i assume thats gotta be the most common failpoint?
I have a basilisk v2, I’ll get a v3 when it breaks cus of the new scroll wheel feature and rgb!
U bot use infinity scroll. Noone use. Funny but usless
The scroll wheel is more of a gimmick. To be honest, I have a G502 Hero and I'll go with a V2 because of the double clicking, but I won't miss the infinite scroll just because it's useless for the stuff I do
@@testoyt you can switch your switches
@@testoyt THIS! I switched to the basilisk v2 just because of the double clicking issue. And I don't actually miss the free scroll wheel much.
@@leksdex5682 I actually *do* use the infinity scroll. Awesome feature. Using g502 for like 2 years.
Unfortunately my Basilisk started double clicking within 6 months of using it, and I hoped when I bought it that it would last at least 2 years since optical switches were advertised to last longer but no, no they didn't. So I got a replacement and the replacement started double clicking as well, I don't understand why it's so hard to find a gaming mouse that won't double click. I'm literally about to just start using a cheap $10 dell mouse that'll last forever
Can some explain to me how razer is missing 2 buttons on left of lmb compared to g502 but difference is 10 vs 11 buttons? I am stumped here. Just many user definable buttons are there on each of these?
One of my old roommates had a G502 and I loved that mouse but I had a fully functional corsair mouse at the time. Fast forward to today and now I own a basilisk ultimate because the double click issues on the G502 made me not want to buy one having come from corsair mice that also have big problems with double click / no click.
hi i know its been years can you tell me if there iis plastic on the mouse feet of the basilisk straight out the box?
I tend to prefer more balanced reviews than this cause this seems very Razer sided but... none of what you've said is wrong. The Basilisk is just that much better to me and much more preferable than the G502. Everything you said I agree. I tried my cousins G502 and didn't like it. Chose the Basilisk V2 and absolutely love it. Its not even broken yet but I'm already getting the V3. Cause the RGB is absolutely 🔥
Petite question à propos de la Logitech, est il possible de régler un bouton, de sorte qu'il devienne un "auto fire left click"? Dans le sens où juste en le maintenant, cela simule un auto clicker du clique gauche ? Merci d'avance.
thanks for the info!
Good video, I am choosing a mouse with a good scroll wheel, whether wired or wireless, at the moment I feel this one is better
I bought 2 logitech these last years protheus and hero, the first lasted me 3 years and the wheel began to fail, the hero that is the one I currently have has begun to fail the clicks and is only 2 years old. This time I am going to try the razer basilisk v3 it seems that they have copied the g502 and improved in all aspects I do not care that it has fewer buttons
I got the g502 lightspeed yesterday and the software doesn't seem to work with it right now. To program the mouse it tells you to turn off onboard profiles but you are supposed to turn them ON, if you click the message that says to turn them off you cna't program the mouse, if you have them turned on it makes you turn them off. WTF?! so at this point I can not program logitech mouse. I don't normally do it anyways but would be nice if I could sometimes.
The G502 Hero has 5 onboard memory profiles and not 3 my friend! My G502 Hero developed a double click issue within 2 years. I definitely prefer the Razer optical switches both in terms of tactile feedback and reliability.
you can easily fix the double clicking with a bit of rough handlling.
@@BOB--jy1fz Yeah tried that already. The mouse is simply overrated and overpriced as most logitech products are.
@@sushantkumar7379 it’s 40 bucks buckaroo
I dont know about the logitech software side but I absolutely love razer's software. When i bought my first razer mouse which is a viper mini i didnt expect much. but the hypershift feature is way too good. Right now im using the Basilisk V3 and its even better. for the people who doesnt know, Hypershift is like a controller key. for example on the keyboard you have CTRL key or SHIFT key. you press CTRL and C and it copy stuff. it changes the behaviour of other keys. same thing here. I assigned every key to work with hypershift so i can do stuff like changing desktops, change volume music controls, zoom in and out, etc. Scroll wheel side to side will do a skip 5 sec back or forward on videos. best part is since you can add profiles, you can have multiple profiles for every app. when i switch to "Netflix" mode, by default the scroll wheel is volume. middle click is play pause. side buttons are skip 5 sec. it might seem confusing but with profiles + hypershift you can pretty much add 100s of buttons. when you get used to this it becomes super hard to use something else. I dont know if other mice can do this, prolly can, but i bought the mouse because i thought it looked cool and im sticking with it because of the awesome software.
I am in the market to look for mouse with scroll wheel like MX Master. Would you recommend Basilisk V3 for that? I don't really mind whether it is wired or wireless. Also, how is the ergonomics of the Basilisk V3 compared to MX Master?
Following
I literally just bought the Basilisk v2 today! And now the V3 is out?? Damn.. I already have the g502 and I love it I just want the best of the best for FPS games
Relax, man. The V2 is still a great mouse. I own both it and the V3. They are both amazing and Razer knocked it out the park.
V2 v3 the same except rgb and weel.
@@leksdex5682 exactly
I always use the tilting mousewheel. Productivity: ctrl c/ctrl v. Gaming: Crouch/prone. Nice!
In programmable buttons, technically none of them are good. Logitech doesn't have programmable buttons on scroll wheel up/down only scroll wheel click, while Razer has two buttons behind wheel which aren't ergonomically good in comparison to two Logitech ones which are on the left side of left click
Man, I love the G502. My original Proteus from 2014 is still working fine with no double clicking issues, but the Hero that I recently got started double clicking within the first two weeks of having it. I was bummed but thankful that I still had my original Proteus, but I ended up buying a Basilisk V3 anyways 😂 I agree with a lot of the points made in the video, it is a G502 clone but a very well made clone that fixes a lot of the issues that I had with the mouse.
I much prefer my 502, the buttons next to left click are in a good place for me and I wish I could have a mouse with the same design and button layout but shorter and lighter (I have small hands).
@jalow he isnt a minecraft player
Idk what they did with the g502 hero but this stupid thing barely lasted a year before it started double clicking while my g502 proteus lasted 6 WHOLE YEARS.Absolutely insane what a simple click switch did.
@@Juzou541 personal preference.
@@Juzou541 double clicking is not a feature, it's the switch wearing out. It's not like it will be consistent, sometimes it double clicks, sometimes it doesn't So don't buy the logitech just because it may start double clicking in a year or two.
502 is what i have, forget where I got it but wouldn't buy again. Too many cracks that fill with dirt, it starts double clicking within the first year, and requires toggle macros wired to the side buttons to use buttons consistantly at this point, probably 1.5-2 years in. The left snd right buttons double click but also start letting go of your button holds which makes for lots of frustration especially gaming. There's not really an excuse for a 50-80$ mouse to have a product lifetime of 1 year, 2 if you actively work around the buttons that stop working. The G Hub is the only thing I like better but Synapse has come a long way now
wait isn't the basilisk a manual button to change scroll as well?
what kind of monitor do you use?
is the logitech mouse still worth it
i like 502 but after 1 year always double click issue i have 2 502 wireless both have issue the other one is left issue and the other one is right issue haha now im looking for a long lasting gaming mouse
The G502 is still my go to even though you say the wheel is metal and heavy I actually like the fact that you can flick it and it scrolls almost infinite. It's a lot better than the raser basikisk one and it doesn't wear out because it's metal. Oyeah and it also feels better in my hands because it's larger.
The thing is the G502 is unusable after a while cuz of the notorious double click issue

The hybrid optic on a sniper rifle?
I own both and the tactile "Smart-Reel" sold me on the Basilisk. The G502 is great but it's heavier and the cable is not as nice as the Basilisk.

By the way, the cable on the G502 Hero has been changed.

How to switch from tactile to hyperscroll for the basilisk? Do i need to install a software?
There is a button on top of the mouse near the scroll wheel just like on the G502 hero, there is also a software that can make the scroll wheel automatically go hyperscroll

Love it! I have the Razer Basilisk v2 :)
No one talks bout the razer bloatware? logitech's software is very confusing, you have to disable onboard settings on the mouse in order to use it?
Thank you ! I know not to buy any of these. I want a gaming mouse that has silent clicks an buttons like Logitech MX Master 3S but it seems impossible to find.
The Razer Basilisk does not have a pinkie finger resting place, which makes it a no-go for me, and makes the G502 more suited.
Will Razer be making a wireless version of this mouse? Best would be with steel wheel for me...
They are incomplete to make wireless mouse

I love the basilisk, great review
My g502 hero definitely does NOT have that heavy cable. Maybe it's different in different countries. Mine has a very thin and bendy cable. It was purchased 2 years ago (quite exactly) in Norway.

It’s because the ultimate is wireless

i bought the 502 hero a week ago , i guess i watched vid late , but am happy with my mouse now cuz i got it for only 30$ of amazon with shipping and everything
It's such a good improved version of the iconic mouse... it's awesome how they are putting effort and it's even cheaper in my region
I have ha a bad history with razor products with buttons, keyboard with a w key that cant be held down, mouse with random double clicks, only after 2 years, while my Logitech g403 hero has lasted me almost 4 years, and im still using it and still has 0 issues
The problem with this is this video is sponsored by Razer so it was obvious from the beginning that "Razer is the better mouse". All the razer peripherals that I have used worth up to $170 broke after 2 - 4 months. NEVER buying Razer products again. While I have been using Logitech G502 for 4 years and still no problems what's so ever. In fact since Amazon is or was selling G502 for $37... I couldn't pass up the deal and got another one. G502 is the best mouse I've used, period. Razer are bunch of copy cats with shitty quality that doesn't last for shit... always brakes shortly after the purchase. G502 should have been compared to a much better mouse.
..idk this sounds like bad luck. I've used my original basilisk for about a year and a half now and it works and looks the exact same (except a minor double clicking issue on left click, but it's expected). razer can't have that bad of build quality
@@mega_1st Sounds like Razer quality is shit. That's the exact problem my friend had on his Razer mouse. It was a different mouse but I don't remember the exact name. He threw it straight in the garbage. How can you play games or use certain software with your mouse double clicking..? G502 FTW!!! I've had mine for over 4 years and 0 problems that's why I bought a back up one for only $37. One of my friends had his for over 5 years and still going strong with zero issues. BUT both Logitech and Razer make shit keyboards. The only keyboard that I liked from Logitech was G413 Carbon but if you don't like the way Romer-G switches feel then you won't like it. It's built like a tank as well.
Just got this mouse he is a shill no doubt and when comparing this to the g502 the only thing maybe better than the g502 with this mouse is the switches and that's it. The build quality is so much better on the g502. He didn't even bring up the noisy af switch when you turn on the free wheel. You literally hear the switch activate and deactivate when you push it and it sounds so cheap!!! On top of that when you do activate it the switch vibrates through the whole mouse. And you can see the little metal L shape clip that goes into the scroll wheel that prevents it from free scrolling. I don't see that little clip lasting years no way lol I can guarantee it will stop working and you will be stuck with only a free scrolling wheel. The g502 Is the clear winner so far imo. Only downside of the g502 is the switches. Other than that price to performance the g502 is the better mouse. I have a month before I am not eligible to return it to amazon but as of first impressions i'm not impressed at all for a $69.99 mouse. Im keeping my g502 close. With the hyperglide PTFE feet I put on the mouse and the Gemini mouse Grip tape it's a match made in heaven.
@@weecious it's a very minor double clicking issue. it only affects me on certain games where over-clicking costs you. for all the other games I play, it's not a problem at all. so yeah, razer mech switches might not be durable but their newer optical switches are probably more durable.
@@mega_1st Well you can try those new switches yourself and let me know if they even survive a year... Razer definitely lost a lot of customers due to poor quality. If they didn't cut corners then I could see myself using their peripherals but since their peripherals just don't last even half a year... people like me won't be buying anything from them. It's really unfortunate but it's nobody's fault but Razer's for wanting to save barely any $$ on every mouse.
i have both, and i prefer the G502, i like heavier mice, so have all the weights in it, my mouse cable isn't Braided, its a very flexy lightweight rubber, and i do not feel any tug. maybe a new feature,
think software should have part of the review...I love how the g502 auto switches profiles depending on the game thanks to Logitech G Hub im hesitant to go Razer as I have hated their software in the past
razer synapse switches profile based on the games too
Logitech g hub is the most bugged software i have ever used, from changing dpi on it own to changing microphone input level as i speak. Not to mention setting up a profile is completely unintuitive.
If my 502 dies or something I'm going with the V3 definitely
The main reason I use G502 for the 2 extra keys right next to the left click. Until Razer has those keys I will never consider anything else other than G502 lineup
I love the dpi button on Logitech I use it for interact in game… I which razed has that
Along with the double clicking on the G502, it will also sometimes not click, nor click and drag.
one of the most important thing you forgot to mention ( or maybe you did mention it but i missed it ) is the difference in grip style between these two. Depending on which game you play , the mouse should suit your grip style . I can tell you from my own experience that Raze mouse in general are not suitable for finger grip. Ik your focus lying on finger grip during playing the game than i would most deffo go for a Logitec .
Just so you know, i love the V3, but those 101 gramms is speaking without the cable. With me calbe its fore like 125
Hey man! I'm currently using the Razer DeathAdder V2 for a long time. I've been considering going logitech or getting the new Razer Basilisk. The prices are around the same. Is it worth the money?
Keep the deathadder v2, or if it’s really too old, go for basilisk v3, since it has much newer sensor and technology, g502 was more popular in 2018-2019. I am using the deathadder v2 for about 2 years. Also you can wait for the wireless version of basilisk v3, it would be much more worth. Go razer :)
@@elis3053 Thanks a lot man! I'll wait out for a wireless version. Thanks for this and I'll stick with the one I've got. Great help!
or get a light-weight ambi mouse you know...
As much as I may have liked my G502, it only lasted 6 months before it started showing double clicking issues, so I can't recommend it. I'm actually going with a V2 so yeah
