@@wolfgangbarrio5043 Joking aside, its just shows the difference between Clio PH1 (and how light it is), compared to the 1111bhp heavy + 4 up Lucid, its the Clios ability in the corners and keeping up the avg speed, plus a good driver. I had a ph1 many , many years ago, and it was better than the ph2 cup I had later. Regardless the ability of the EV is bloody impressive, like nuts impressive for a roadcar. Fair play to Lucid and fair play to Renault..

@@tatusmachine01 with the amount of suspension bounce, its stock. I think the driver saw Lucid going fast from behind so it was either let him pass before the carousel or clear the carousel fast then give way.
Doing a track lap while sitting comfortably with massaging seats seems like quite an experience haha.

#CASAGRANDE yup, was just there seeing the size of the upgraded AMP-1 factory back on Sat 4/13/24. made a "bee line" south as soon as i got off the plane from PHL at Sky Harbor.
I'm hoping that you'll get a Sapphire to do a lap with. Absolutely insane car that is more than just straight line speed. Having said that, it runs an 8.9 1/4 mile which is just absurd.
It's second or third quickest production car (including ICE, EV and hybrids)
The sapphire has track focused suspension which should make a bug difference vs floaty air suspension

I'm a petrol head and I don't like EVs generally but I begrudgingly admit that the only EV car I'd be excited to own would be a lucid air sapphire... they seem like the only EV company that cares about making the car fun to drive, not just fast!

I have been driving an Air GT (800hp) for 2 years now and love the car. The best part is having the range to get to the enjoyable roads while still having enough battery left for a good play. The suspension and handling are amazing.

20:00 "M2... M1... 1M... 1-series, whatever" - Misha: "M140" (actually that 1-series has a double exhaust tip on the left, indicating a 2-litre 4-cylinder. Probably a 120i. M140i has 2 separate exhaust tips, left and right)🙂. I used to have a white 118i which looked like that, except only 1 exhaust tip cause it's a 1.5l 3-cylinder. I'd recommend a 120i + maybe Stage 1 ECU tune. Great car either way👌 anyway, excellent video once again! Hilarious and fascinating to watch😁🫶

Lucid has the best tech in the EV industry, officially the longest range (with given battery size) fast charging and fastest sedan in the world.
Another California EV built from some people who left Tesla. The engineering and fabrication is top notch, but the company is having financial issues like most other US EV brands

to be honest, a slower driver who uses more regen and less brakes will do 3 laps and still have mostly full power and 30% battery left. That's really nice! Can't wait for real sports cars!

I expect all electric cars this type to be stable as they have a pretty low center of gravity, logically because batteries are in the floor. In my POV, that's their biggest advantage, if you are looking to drive them sporty.
Lucid's CEO spent time as chief engineer at Jaguar then Lotus. Their chief of design made the ND MX-5. Their engineering team has lots of go-fast names.
02:15 - "..you can see the car is extremely dirty..." That? _That_ is dirty? My car is parked in open air. Where I am, it's just rained, but there's no wind, no dirt roads, no mud, not even a puddle. Also, no insects have been slamming into my vehicle at 250kmh. Your Lucid is _still_ so, sooo much cleaner than my car will ever be. 😅

Almost 4 laps from a single battery is very good as well, that's just as much or even better than gasoline cars with similar horsepower get. With regen enabled you could probably even get 5, provided you can keep the battery cool.
It has quite a big battery, I believe it is the highest range EV to date, near or over 400 miles if I recall.
ive never yawned watching a nap of the nurburgring .. now i have.. while watching an 1100 hp car .. just gave a feeling of "dad wants to go home from the get together fast on a sunday evening and the kids are fallingasleep in the back of the car" .. vibe .. 1100 hp ..
yes please, please get your hands on the sapphire on. US journalists already tested it on a smaller track an we're really impressed with the handling, feedback, fun and power it provides. i think they compared it to an M4 on insane horsepower levels.

I’m VERY impressed by this car. I didn’t expect at all to be so consistent in terms of performance. And the silence is absolutely incredible, ZERO air turbulence noise in the cockpit, the noise level doesn’t increase with speed which is pretty unreal for a car !! Does this car have an active noise reduction system ?

50 Psi is what many tires have as their MAX pressure. EV makers usually tend to recommend slightly high-ish Psi to reduce rolling resistance and increase range, but you should always keep in mind those 50Psi if you are going to track on a stock EV. Tesla recommends 42-45 for at least some models. Which makes every energetic drive on a sunny day risky. My car has recommended cold tire pressure at 36Psi, and it easily reaches ~45Psi in a couple of laps on a small slow track. I can't imagine what would happen if I started at 45Psi.
On the Plaid having the REGEN on track is incredibly helpful IMO. Granted stock brakes on PLAID are useless by themselves on the track. Perhaps Lucid has some different engineering for the brakes. Great Video as always Misha!!
BTW: Impressive battery management and range. This car could probably do 3 laps at the limit!

regen brakes charges the battery. Electricity creates heat. Less heat generated per second via the powertrain, the better, in the case of a track day. The extra heat the system can tolerate can now be used for power delivery instead
6:00 Don't know about traction control but i did find a video that explained stability control. On the Pilot Panel, press ⚙-> 🚘Vehicle -> Drive settings -> Lucid stability control Manual says : "Off - Disabling stability control - significantly reduces traction control and should only be disabled by advanced drivers on closed courses" ☠ Edit : Whoops my bad, seems that you managed to turn it off in lap 2 :)

So, I have a EV6 wind 2024 and its tons of fun for everyday use and opted out of the full GT EV6 which I thought would be insane for every day, but this is another world lol

You mentioned on both laps how regen was still active to some degree, I wonder if that helped prevent brake fade over the lap. I get why purely mechanical braking is better from a drivability perspective but having some regen to take the load off the mechanical brakes must have a not-insignificant effect.

That Yaris was on you for nearly half a lap trying to get by. Please give other drivers the courtesy of looking in your mirrors like you expect from them.
The battery draining like that is terrifying to me.
The car had around 45% after being pushed hard not bad, try the same lap with a M5, RS6 with 1200hp and see how quick the fuel needle drops.
@@ISeeQuality-ox8ku It went down approximately 25% on the first lap which was 9 minutes long. That's 36 minutes of "spirited" driving. And this wasn't in an extremely hot climate where the AC was cranking or during the winter when the heat is on and the batter is draining much quicker. Again, that's worrysome at best. Thing is, I like the Lucid Air. I owned stock in their company at one point. I test drove a Grand Touring. It's a great car. But, driving like this without the ability to fill up quickly or as often bothers me. The gas gauge on an AMG, Porsche, etc. might drop quickly but a 5 minutes fill up is almost everywhere.
@@ISeeQuality-ox8ku It takes about 2 minutes of refueling to return any ICE car to a track. It would about 2 hours to return an EV with a ~100+kWh battery.

Das Auto fasziniert mit Sicherheit, aber performancemäßig sehe ich da nichts besonderes - im Gegenteil...ich hatte mehr erwartet. Ne dritte Runde wäre wegen der geschmolzenen Reifen nicht möglich gewesen und der Akku hätte dann wohl auch schlapp gemacht bzw. die Leistung wäre reduziert worden. Den Topspeed schafft n Verbrenner mit weniger Leistung und den Rest hat der Clio deutlich gemacht 🤷 Nichts gegen Elektromobilität, die Nm sind beeindruckend und diese Autos werden ihre Berechtigung haben, aber das Video zeigt mMn eher deutlich, dass sie performancetechnisch noch lange nicht mithalten können.

You need to watch the video. But let me help you with the part you missed. 22:44 and forward. Straight line speed, similar to the Plaid is amazing, Micha even calls this really good in the corners as well for an EV. But both can't hang with anything even remotely serious in most of the corners and what you just witnessed if you followed the timestamp. Amazing luxury sedan the Lucid is. Let's hope they have a future as an automaker.
