Testing methodology:
Headphones are left to burn in for 48 hours with white noise using the following track: bit.ly/1faxQKX The 12hr interval on the track is looped. This burn-in method wakes up the drivers and allows for minimal variations in tonal changes for short term testing. We understand some headphones require much longer burn-in periods (eg. 6 months to fully shine) but given the nature of our reviews that is not possible.
Equipment used:
Game testing is done using Asus DX 7.1 sound card that allows EQ tweaking to test for driver handling and potential distortions throughout the range. Audioengine D1 DAC is used to test for default audio signature.
Songs tested : (All FLAC or 24bit/96Khz files)
September - Earth, Wind and Fire
Angel - Mezzanine
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Codex - Radiohead
Elegia - Alexander Popov
Puzzle Piece (Heatcliff's Farewell Remix) - Tania Zygar and Space Rockerz
Burn Out - The Cinematic Orchestra (Every Day)
Games used (Mainly the most recent titles):
Battlefield 4
Metro: Last Light
Assassins Creed 4
6 years later and I'm still using this headset and it still works! cant imagine using something else.
i mean the next two released of this are barley different lmao
Ive had mine since 2017 and its still going strong.
Ok, I've watched a bunch of your videos now and I must say, the production quality is fucking amazing. Seriously, the cinematography rivals what you see in movies and the sound is excellent.
Your reviews are awesome! Really hitting the important points and covering overall user experience, Thanks!
can't wait till I get my g4me one from massdrop. got myself a black and red version. it'll be cool to hear the sound stage of open headphones and isolation bothers me because I dont know what's going on around me. but I live in a very quiet home so this should be perfect!
I love the elegance of your videos. they are nice to watch.
i agree, awesome b-roll. he just needs to do the voice over in a room with less reverb.
Its a shame they dont have more followers. Honestly they are the main videos i watch because they are so well done with actual good info.
Priddin mason pennington crazyglue1337 thanks guys :D Appreciate the support!
Agreed. The reason why I subbed to your channel is because of your video quality and elegance.
Still using these honestly nothing better for the price that i've found.
I am looking forward to getting these!!! Thank you for the great reviews!!!
Your glamor-shots are top of the game. Almost as good as your reviews. Keep up the good work and continue as the best review ever.
I'm glad these are really comfortable with glasses. That was a serious problem for me with other headsets.
Thank you for the review! been waiting since CES 2014
Could you please review these headsets: 1- Sennheiser Game ZERO (not one) 2- Audio-Technica ATH-AG1 3- Beyerdynamic mmx 300 (MADE IN GERMANY WITH FIVE YEARS WARRANTY)
Been waiting for this review for awhile! Great review, I personally like the white colour scheme =)
1:38 for mic test
super bad
@@annagladka841 Mics attached to headphones are always meh, this is better than most.
Pretty good mic tbh
Razer Kraken 7.1 v2 mic is way better.
@@lavlne I had one and still looking for alternative.
That shot of the headphones' ear cup was so cool!!!
Oh man .. Watching this in 2020! How I miss the good old Battlefield games .. Such amazing game!
Awesome review and exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
I'm loving my HD 555.
4 years later and this thing's mic beats every high end headset on the market. I don't know if it's just that good, or gaming mics are garbage.
VolantEnigma is it still worth getting right now? In terms of sound quality. I’m considering getting it
Samuel Ye I would say so. I think it's the best at the price point. Personally I just got the gsp500's and I love them, but there 50 to 80 dollars more
VolantEnigma I've got the same headset, about 4 years ago and it's still amazing. My brother in-law got a razer headset recently and compared to that this thing is insane. 10/10
@@aidangibson274 are you using it direct to your motherboard? I want to buy this but doesnt sure if my on board audio could drive this headset
Yeah, It works straight to motherboard and my pc case as well.
Been waiting for this!
Still using these in 2023. Just had to get a replacement cable which is the best thing ever and will make this headset hopefully last for another 10 years!
Very nice review! I might just tweak some things in the equalizer if I get one
Great vid and excellent review as. Keep up the good work.
This review convinced me to get this headset years ago and it was probably one of the best purchases I've made.
do u still say the same?
Mayura Ramanayaka still the same? i want to buy it too
Rosé Black Me too. I just don't trust KZhead reviews so need little more motivation before ordering my pair. I do trust Dimitri btw but the video is almost five years old. Jet Wave, man help us out
Mayura Ramanayaka thinking about buying philips fidelio x2 with a modmic it comes to the same price as the game one
@@N8X4TE Have you bought it yet?
Just bought one of these, can't wait :D
This is by far the best all-in-one solution headset on the market at the moment. I've tried numerous of headsets throughout time and i've never come across a more comfortable and great sounding headset than this. Have had it for almost two years now and its still going strong, still comfortable, durable, looks new etc. The sound is stunning, whether its gaming or music. Remember, the g4me one is better than the g4me zero when it comes to sound and comfort! It is so comfortable that I often forget that im wearing them. The only bad thing I can come up with is that they're so damn good that they will be hard to top meaning I wont get a new headset for some time and I really love gettig new gear. But this is of course a luxury problem.
After watching this review, I am actually saving up money for this headset. The mic quality really makes this a must buy for me.
July 2020 ...had these head sets for over 4 years and still using them ... still works.... these headphones LAST! Love them.... my money was WELL spent!!! ( July 17 2020 : Just got a break in my wire to my headset and immediately ordered replacement cable on amazon... these headphones really are that good!)
I just ordered these from Amazon today with same day shipping… in 2022 hope these are worth all the hype
How does the Game One perform for music? You usually say something about that in your headphone reviews. Also how does it perform compared to your Sennheiser HD 558 or the 598?
I’m due for an upgrade soon, and these look great. Only thing that is a little concerning is that cable though. Would be preferable to have one connector instead of two. The idea of having an additional cable to convert the two down to one is not a great one.
Video may be old but still a great review and helped me decide on getting these today (Sept 2016) $137 Shipped @ newegg.
Dmitry sir. What is ur favorite headset for gaming? I found that Hyper x cloud 2 is great but the sounds they produce is not quite good.
Bah, I wish you guys would list the back ground music used in your reviews! It would be awesome! What's this one called?
Eric C 4 years and no replys
Thanks Dmitri! I actually ordered these bad boys AND the Game Zero's to compare the two and ended up choosing the Game One's hands down!!! The overall profile of the Zero's was "tinny" sounding when directly compared to the One's. And the much wider sound stage on top of the sealed the deal for me. Best headset I've owned to date!!! I've actually been accused of wall hacking since purchasing the One's hahaha.
I messaged Sennheiser and the reason the Ones have a wider Sound Stage is because they lack the E.A.R feature that the Zero's and the HD line of Senns offer. They left this feature out to improve on the sound stage for gaming. Smart on their end to consider the effects of directing audio into your ear vs allowing your ear to do the work. Also i prefer Velour over Memory Foam and i don't mind Open Back.
Lol, "tinny."
From the "negatives" you gave, I would say just the price. I don't like removing the mic, I always lose mine D-: and I think they look amazing. I love white :-D
I see this bad boy on amazon for $125
dmitri awesome video man
I love both gaming and music. How does this headset compare to the other Sennheiser headsets in the same price range, when it comes to music playing quality?
Hey still waiting on that space/gear tour. What lens are you guys using to get that razer sharp shallow DoF?
Remind me of my HD555, which I love!
Dimitriy did have some really solid sniper kills on BF4 xD btw awesome review.
More earphone reviews would be appreciated!
Although Im not certain I'm pretty sure this headset is based off of the hd5x8 series. I have the 558 headphones and in all of the review of this headset the sound they describe is exactly what I experience with my hd558. Being that the 558 is half the cost of this headset I would reccomend every to just buy the headphones and an external Mic to save some cash.
I own the HD558 and yes, they sound pretty much identical. Over the two years I've owned them they've worn in quite nicely and fully broken in! Anyone looking to get great audio that are great bang for buck should consider HD558, but many gamers also want the all-in-one so the G4ME series is exactly for that.
Sean Cossins thanks for the tip! We'll look into it ;D
@HardwareCanucks Are the Sennheiser Game One headsets still top of the line in 2017? I am looking into get a good open headphones or Headsets for gaming(mainly FPS) and to listen to music and movies as well. I just bought the Astro Mixamp Pro TR to power up the headsets to be used for PS4 and PC. Appreciate your suggestions.
I have this headset and dont see myself replacing it anytime soon but I do agree and wish the mic could be removed
Can you review Audio-Technica ATH-AG1 & ADG1 ? I think it's a great pair of audiophile gaming headset !
I'm a fan of HyperX headsets, particularly the Cloud 2 and Alphas, but they do tend to build up heat at my ears, even with the Cloud 2 alternate ear pads. How do these compare to those Cloud 2 alternate ear cups for heat buildup?
LOVE my GAME ZERO set.
***** It's an amazing headset!
+Daehawk Which ones did you have before? I'm currently on a Siberia v2 and thinking about switching :D
MrPixmoable Had Logitech G930. Used them for years..all 8 sets that kept breaking. Got the Astro A40 at the same time as the Senns but liked the Senns a LOT more.
***** Ok, thanks. Do you know what he means when he says they're Open-styled?
MrPixmoable Open means the cups themselves are not closed off from the outside world. you'll still hear stuff around you in the world like someone speak to you and such. Closed is more noise cancelling plus a little more bass.
Hey Dmitri would you recommend this headset in combination with GSX1000? I recently got GSX1000 after your review, and now im looking for headphones/headset that would be perfect in combination with it.
Mario Petovar buy a pair of real headphones like the HD600 or Dt990. Or the hd000 series better sound and comfort for the same price because they truly focus on sound instead of the gaming gimmick. Otherwise go with the pc 360 since they are the cheaper of the 3. Both the pc 360 and game zero are thinnoer with less bass and are better for hearing footsteps and such in gaming while the game one are based of the hd598 and have more bass and are more enjoyable to listen to like music and such. So its all dependent on what you prefer.
I wish you gave a sample of the sound leaking through at different volume levels.
I'm looking to pick up the sennheiser game one with astro mixamp to use with my ps4. Should I stick with that or should I get the hd 650 with a amplifier? Honestly I can't decide between gaming headset and audiophile headphones. Mainly im looking for awareness footsteps in gaming headset. Much appreciate your help thank you.
does the Mic pick up the sound from the open back in games? im trying to pick between Game one or the GSP 600 with the GSX 1000.. also wondering if the GSX with make the Game one even better?
Got myself a pair of Game Zero, the audio quality is just stupidly good.
***** I don't know if that was the case when you did the review, but there is also a traditional black edition.
Is the volume control general or is it possible to adjust game volume and chat /mic volume separately?
Ive had my Sennheiser G4ME ONE headset for about a year now and I can say its the best headset I've ever bought. Its lasted me longer then any other headset that I've gotten before, and its comfort is unparalleled. I honestly quite often forget they are on my head. Plus the sound quality is beautiful, and the mic is top level clarity. The price is worth it on these if anyone is wondering, and I got them around Christmas time for about $205.
Does the cable detach able?
no
+TroiiiE well that sucks. What about game zero?
+Clifford Kort nope
lol i thought it detachable hahaha thanks mate
2 questions, #1 do these headsets have surround sound? And #2 do these headphones have a seperate chat volume and in-game volume? I'm going to use these for the ps4 so honest opinions are very welcomed
Is the game one a good upgrade from the g933? I’d like to try open backed, but I want to make sure I’m making an upgrade!
I just got this headset today, but I have it connected to my very old ASUS P6T onboard sound card - I tried de-installing and re-installing different Realtek audio drivers as well as only using the Windows standard audio drivers, but my issue is that even when the volume switch is set to max (at the right side of the G4ME ONE) and all windows sound settings are at 100%, my audio is still pretty low and I would like it to be a bit louder when listening to music etc. Is there any way to fix this or do I need an external or PCI-E soundcard? Weirdly enough, within Realtek HD Audio Manager, it recognizes the headset not as headphones but as 'speakers' and there's no option for me to change that to headphones anywhere.. I googled that issue but to no avail :( Maybe that's the reason for the quiet sound but I can't change it..
What's better. This or the pc350se? I can get both at a decent low price. So price doesn't matter. I mainly want to use the headset for fps. So I would like to know which has better directional/positional audio. What's the difference between the closed and open headsets besides the open headset being more comfortable. I'm using my motherboards sound card and plan to get an amp after a couple months after trying the headset. Which is better? And do both of these have the flip up mic mute function?
hi :D which sound card is better for gaming? i was thinking about asus strix raid pro 7.1 gaming is this good? or maybe creative sound blaster!
Im trying to decide if i should buy it or not , is the mic good and should o get the game one or zero ?
I prefer black/red and closed headsets with (p)leather. So t he g4me zero as a black/red edition would be perfect.
Are they worth for 130 euros? I was oriented towards superlux hd681 evo but they dont look very comfortable (do they sound better of Game One?) and i saw Game Zero at this price point. What should i do? I am considering Siberia v3 and HyperX Cloud 2 too. Gimme some advices if u can guys! Thank you :) .
I got the headset yesterday and I have this low sound problem. Previously I had USB gaming headsets and they were all fine loud and good but this time I decided to go with 3.5 MM jack and bought this as I saw a stupid amount of good reviews about it like everyone saying its awesome, best headset they have ever bought, you hear every sound, amazing quality for gaming, etc. Now that I have them I can't even get them loud enough to hear my game properly like foot steps and stuff. My Mobo is MSI Z87-G43, it has Realtek ALC1150, High Definition Audio, Sound Blaster Cinema (I don't know what all that means btw re this headset). Now I don't know if this is how this headset is supposed to work and everybody loves them like that or there is something wrong with my Mobo, or maybe everyone uses it with an external dac/amp, I don't understand. I have ordered a FiiO-E10k dac/amp to see if it makes any difference, if not I'm gonna have to send them back and get a USB gaming headset. Should I not have expected better quality audio than USB headsets especially for gaming? how do you get the best out of this headset? I'm disappointed as F**k, I really hope I'm doing something really wrong. On a positive note, they are the most comfortable headset I have ever used!
Did you get the FiiO? Did it help? They are 50 ohm. They sit in the middle, a good motherboard sound card is going to be able to drive them, but I've heard people with cheap ones having a lot of issues.
what program do you use to tweak your settings such as 'high end'? Thanks!
At the moment I use Sen's HD 280 pro and then a razer megladon around my neck purely for the microphone, this is for competitive Counterstrike. I have tried other 'gamer' head sets but the audio is trashy. How would the audio compare to the HD 280's?
Please do a review for the game zero
im thinking of getting the black and red versions to fit my system
How do these go against hd 598 in terms of soundstage, sound quality, comfort, build everything? Ps. Here at my place the game one is actually a TIIIIIIIIINY bit cheaper than the 598, just a tiny bit.
this is like 95$ on amazon would getting this be a good idea or getting superlux hd668b with a mod mic
Great review! ☆☆☆☆☆
Do you know if he is going out of line, or if there is a possibility that he will be back in stock in stores?
I have a question.. i got the headphones and i got really annoying problem. when i only plug the mic it works great but when i plug both mic and headphones, everything that i hear in the headphones is heard trough the mic also. on skype ppl hear my pc music and game music intead of me. also on skype calls i turn on music and here the music. i tried on different pc's and the problem is the same. i also tried to plug the headphones to the smartphone and mic to the pc and still i got the same problem. so the headphones with problem and i should replace them?
Well to me its one time open = 4 ever open ;) probably never going back to closed unless its necessary like in a bus or a tournament. Coming from the A50s, the Sennheiser HD598 and the Philips X1 just sound so much more natural and have a much wider soundstage and better imaging. Also the clarity and detail is superior overall :) But the Philips X1 are my go to headphone, they are even better then the HD598s by a fair amount and id even go so far to say the compete with the HD600s from Sennheiser and the T90s from Beyerdynamic, but sound is very subjective once you get to a certain fidelity :)
what type of cable do I need to replace the original cable mine got worn/frayed near the headset
I have tried both and tbh I LOVE the GAME ZERO in my opinion best gaming headset ever, i think the noise isolation is very nice, but i was disappointed with the GAME ONE i found them to not feel as sturdy as the ZERO'S and the sound wasn't nearly as good for obvious reasons. They are both GREAT headsets but i would recommend the ZORO over the ONE any day.
well the game one has better sound stage so you cant say the zero has better sound overall you must like a lot of bass
***** Doesn't one have more bass? From what i read one shifts toward bass more than zero.
its the other way around...the Zero has the better bass...its a closed headset ...the One is open
According to Bi-tech.net review "If you do want more bass the G4ME One (and PC 360) deliver it in spades". That's why i asked.
How do these compare to Astro 40s?
Keep in mind you can still buy the original PC 360 for a much cheaper price. They are the exact same headset with the traditional black color scheme. This new lineup is a refresh to liven up the brand similar to logitech and their g-series mice. Your are essentially paying a premium because it's a new release with a more "gamer" color scheme.
wait so does this have considerably good bass been using astro a40s with the amp for a few years hasnt broke or anything on me yet except for the paint but besides that i miss my bass from the turtle beach px21 except two of the px21s broke on me, after a year left ear didnt work and like 3 months after getting the new one it literally fell apart the band crumbled ear cups falling off it was horrible but it did have bass boost :) if some knows a headset that has big and fabric ear cups NO leather bass price that ranges around 300 more or less thatll be great
i own a pair of PC360, the volume dial is not very durable. after 1 year's usage, the sound gets distorted whenever I turn the volume dial. After that it got worse as sometimes the sound is almost gone, or the volume gets imbalanced between the left and right ear and I have to fine tune the dial to find that perfect position for a normal listening experience. My conclusion is that these headsets sound great but the build quality is not as good as their audiophile headphones
hi what eq do you use you were recommending higher eq can u plz show us what to use so i can go from there
do these earcups have the same material as the hyperx cloud 2's velvet plush cups because the clouds plush ear cups make my ears and head itchy
Hard to imagine this is still the best gaming headset as of 2018 MAY
or July 2020
Would these headphones work with the Astro M80 mix amp on an Xbox One?
For gaming, these or Sennheiser HD 598 SR?
If I want to buy headphones for gaming and everything else such as music and video, should I get these or sennheiser hd 579?
How do these compare (sound quality wise) to the Sennheiser HD 598?
Okay, is this a problem with Xbox or the headset. So, I just bought some Cloud 2's and they sound great on PC but not when I use the 3.5mm jack instead of the usb, on xbox I HAVE to use the 3.5mm jack in order to hear game sound from a mixamp. But, as I said when I used the USB and plugged them directly in my PC without a mixamp, everything sounded great.
Why doesnt anyone play the sound from the open back headphones? Cant seem to find any tuber that shows what open back sounds like for gaming....
Doesn’t the open back design lend it to suffering from the mic picking up in game noise ?
game one or the dt990's?
Three stars at most.. for 150 you can get better.. but the mic quality is SUPERB.. the sounds are clear but not very loud
can this be compared to the PS3 7.1 wireless headset?
Do they have great sound quality for music??
what is a good external dac or amp for this or should i get the sennheiser 363d?
Sorry for commenting on an old video but I've got a question. Should I get the Sennheiser Game Ones, or the Sennheiser PC363Ds? I know the PC363Ds have surround sound, but i'm not sure about the Games Ones surround/positional sound. Thanks!!
The headphones themself (soundcard not included) are basically the same, if they are the same price why not take the pc363d with surround sound and test it for yourself. Some call virtual surround bullshit while others love it. Positional audio is good with both.
Theres no need. The soundstage and sound accuracy of the game ones mean you need not go for virtual surround
Hi, I'm looking for THE best headset for FPS like Battlefront, Battlefield 4 and COD. WHat you think are the best between Sennheiser G4me one and Astro A40/A50 ? And do you have other suggestions? Thank you!
hyperx cloud 3
+Kimi Hösli 2 sorry
+SavageJunky Audio Technica ADG1 or AD700X
+Sky Jackson - Minecraft, Ios, how tos, And more corsairs die after a month of use check reviews, this has always been a problem with corsair headsets
Get the G4ME One. Will blow anything else out of the water.
If I get a xs1000 amp will I also need a nice sound card or does the amp act as a Soundcard?
Would this work for recording video and voice in, I need for youtube
What camera do you film this video with?
I have the Game one headset and everything is fine but the microphone is super low volume (2x lower than razer kraken chroma) does anyone know what the issue is ? bassicly the mic without boost is just useless, which shouldnt be normal... ? im using onboard soundcard that has realtek alp1150chip... should i buy soundcard to fix the issue or that wont help ? anyone ?
