At that point it’s worth buying a cheap cardioid mic
Honestly I'd rather buy a $20 Red Dragon headset than that shit. For $200 I'd be fuckin' fumin' if that's what I got. Hell, a pair of ear buds with the stereotypical Blue Snowball mic would be a better set-up.

Unbelievable how a great brand of headset like Sennheiser has such a terrible microphone.
VuHien2011 they make headphones not mics
They make mics too. But he obviously clipped the signal heavily by having the gain too high in the video. Have to say though, that the sound wasn't impressive anyway.
@@notwetsyrup9936 I know that hence, my remark. I should have said headphone, not headset. But when you know they have the engineering expertise to make among the best headphones, you would think they know how to make a semi decent microphone or even buy it from another manufacturer.
prolly cause it's wireless
@@Shad0wolf0 I have hard time to believe that because it is wireless, it can't be better than that. I have a Sony bluetooth headphone and the sound is quite decent. There is plenty of bandwidth in a bluetooth connection to move enough data for a quality sound. And it works both ways. If there is enough bandwidth to generate a sound, there must be enough bandwidth to record a sound.

I own the Beyerdynamic mmx 300 G2 and they are awesome for gaming with friends, nice sound and they fit very comfortably for 3 hour gaming sessions (when im lucky). I don't really have time anymore as an adult to game for more than that at one time but I think they would be awesome for longer sessions too! the mic is clear and the audio delivered during gaming is more than sufficient and able to give me good awareness of my surroundings! I also own a pair of Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro's that I use for gaming alone and listening to music. I run them with an audioengine D1 headphone amp and the sound is INCREDIBLE! This was a relatively pricey setup and I have cables but with decent wire management It's not that big of a concern!

HAHAHAHAH (I only laughed after reading your comment and imagining it)
I was VERY tempted to buy the GSP 370s as my first wireless pair of headsets, but couldn't find reviews. Instead I went for the arctis pro + gamedac for £140 brand new. Only regret is the short usb cable, though they sound amazing. Much better than my cloud 2s which I loved.
Every time you put on a headset, you remind me of a pilot. You took it back with that song, showing your age lol
thank you for the excellent microfon test. thats was amazing, it told me excactly what I needed to know.
I'm personally a total Beyerdynamic fan! Got the white Custom One Pro Plus, spent 2 months hunting it down since it's not commercially available in my country. So comfortable so I bet their gaming headset is just as good! Completely worth it but sadly underrated in the mainstream market.
4:34 these are the wired (meant wireless) variant, but there's also a wired version as well.
Your video helped me find an excellent wireless headset in the ATH-G1WL. Just a little tip I got from Audio Technica about the signal issues on the G1WL. Use usb2.0 instead of 3.0 even if you have to use an extension cable for the receiver. I noticed a tremendous range improvement and didn't experience any signal drops compared to using the receiver in a usb3.0 port.
MVP comment right here. Thanks bud
omg! youre a life saver
Hey were the headphones worth it ? I went to check online reviews and alot said that after 2 months of using it the quality of the headphone deteriorate, did that happen to you too?
@@vaarax8993 Hey just saw your comment so not sure if you're still looking but no I have experienced zero issues with them. I've been running them since April of 2021 and they are still going strong. I did notice that if you run the sound at 100% on the actual headphone and then just adjust volume with your PC you actually get a significant improvement in performance. I specifically noticed that the sound of a Precision Airstrike in Warzone would sound like it was clipping the drivers when the volume on the headset was lower. Surprisingly, when I crank the level to 100% on the headset then just drop the volume of my PC the airstrike no longer peaks the drivers and it can be even louder! I use them for several hours a day primarily for making phone calls and music but they are also excellent for gaming. I have a friend who uses a goxlr with a shure mic attached and yes that mic sounds better but the one on this headset is very close to it (just a little less bass). Absolutley love them. I've helped several friends get the wired or wireless versions and they all agree that it is fantastic. Excellent imaging and soundstage (for a closed back at least). I recently ordered a PC38x from Drop as I wanted an open back for certain scenarios (being able to hear my kids in the other room if needed and sidetone is just too noisy overall). Still waiting on that one to arrive but I'm very curious to see how it compares.
@@AJRohrer I wasnt looking for one anymore, but i'll buy these when my headset break, thank you !
One of the best headset reviews ever, thanks Frank P! I just got the beyerdynamic custom game, watched this to give me at least some idea what I'm in for since they should be similar to the 770s as well.

Neither have I. Thats why I initially was considering the MH752 and the Arctis lineup. Glad to see this collection, but honestly only the Beyerdynamic one looked not gamery.
@@Memann208 the Audio Technica ones don't loke gamery either, look like the m50x with a blue D-Brand ring skin

Glad to see your opening things up for us audiophiles out there. I hope that you could every once in awhile dedicate a show to more audiophile headsets, speakers etc. There's a ton of high quality gear just ready to be checked out. It would really be nice to see for a lot of us. Great video. Loved the Rick Astley soliloquy. Nicely done. :)
This guy is just a snob, not an audiophile. he used voicemeeter to tamper with the microphone results. basically every actual hardware channel has had nothing but praise for Sennheiser's gaming line in both microphone and sound quality as well as build quality. they're also only $100. there's not a single pair of wireless headphones and a microphone you can buy with better audio quality you can buy at that price. nevermind the 370s are only so much because they're wireless, the wired version is $50 and goes on sale for like $30 all the time
“This is the wired version and there is a wireless variant as well.” Sounds great.
He said wired to both of them actually
I especially appreciate the microphone tests. Thanks.
Thanks for such an in depth review! Great job!
Totally agreed, I use my V-Moda for gaming

I've loved my MMX300s for the past year, and wondered if I made the right choice. This confirms it. Thanks Frank!
Are they comfortable when being worn for a long time?
@@Finn-wm2no I have zero issues with comfort wearing these headphone, no matter how long I have them on. It's been another year since I left this comment, and I can say with 100% confidence that I'd recommend these to anyone. :)
@@plattnum89 Okay, thank you very much :)
@@Finn-wm2no I have them too, and all I can say about comfort is that I don't really enjoy them from this side but it does compensate with the sound/mic quality. It really kicks ass. Change the pads if they're not your type and just go get'em
Do you have an amp or anything with your headset? Or just straight plug and play?
WOW. The beyerdynamic MMX 300 is BY FAR the best. Didn‘t expect such a clear and unrivaled victory.
You are so right about that! I was circling a bit between the Razer Blackshark / HyperX Cloud II-III / SteelSeries Arctis Nova / Fnatic React / etc... until I dove into "Audiophile" brands... Finally went with the Sennheiser G4me One and it was the bloody best decision I could ever make :D
hey bro! I have to say thank you!! Then I saw your review and the 370 really catched my attetion. I got them 2 days ago and boy do I love them! I am working with music and I just know what I want soundwise and I also know that wireless costs audio quality. But the GSP 370 really do deliver what I was looking for in a wireless headset! Still loving my vmodas. Wireless or wired they are great, have a stronger build, and look good enough to wear anywhere. Customizable too.
thank you for the mic test!
And still, there is other options. For instance Beyerdynamic Custom studio (80ohm)+game gear (mic-on-a-cable), also from Beyer. Then you have an awesome gaming headset, studio headphones, and music headphones, all in one package. Sets you back around 200$ in total. Other flexible options exist, like paring your favorite headphones with v-moda boompro mic or Antlion ModMic
The Sennheiser mic sounds like some 2 dollar cheap wallmart mic. The other mics sound a lot better tho
I've heard mics from $18 headsets that sound better

Got an mmx 300 gen 2. Bought my first mmx many years ago and im forever a devoted Beyerdynamics fan
vlp3r If you haven’t already, consider investing in a solid DAC or AMP/DAC combo to unlock the full potential of the mmx 300’s. Also grab some memory foam leather earcups for even better sound quality 👍
@@KraftyDubstep Any suggestions for DAC or AMP/DAC? Because I have the MMX 3 G2 600 Ohm and I had bought a new soundcard. And it improved dramatic from that alone.
Thank you for making this. So many people really need to learn about this. Way too many people are paying for garbage.
I'm one of them! I just tested out the GSP 600 and it is so much worse audio wise compared to my DT 770 PRO. I didn't expect the difference to be so large. Although I do think this headset is tuned for video game audio somehow - but still, it has distortion even. And the mic quality did not blow my socks off for the price. I think I'm probably better just grabbing an audio interface and a professional mic. The MMX 300 sounded nice but it's pretty pricey
@@com3se3m3 they are for gaming, the audio is made more bassy to hear steps and shooting and any other noise cues the game you're playing does, which is why they suck for music, videos, and anything like that, they are gaming, aka you want the best advantage in any way not necessarily the best sound for anything else.

Man you should really check out the new Fnatic React headset. I’m a headphone nerd myself and just grabbed the Reacts from Best Buy as an impulse buy because I needed a wired headset to go with my living room PS4 Pro setup for late night couch gaming. I paired the Reacts with my Sound BlasterX G6 and dude, it’s right up there with all my $300+ headphones when it comes to game audio and most surprising of all, the mic is AMAZING. It’s way better than my Mod Mic and pretty much even with my AT2020. It sounds better than the mics you previewed in this vid too. Such an insane value for a gaming headset and at $70 it seriously makes all these “audiophile” headsets obsolete.
1:20 Rightttttt. You used every single term in the book there buddy.
imagine paying the price of a console for a shit quality mic and sub par headphone
How is it "sub par headphone" they sound better then any headphones considered as gaming headphones
Headphones are alot better than gaming headsets lol, they're meant to buy a separate mic with them
Very nice and complete review. Thanks!
Solid review. Thanks.
Just remember though, the beyers are wired which is an advantage in SQ. That makes the ATH the most impressive imo
Dude wtf one of the best Headset tests ive ever seen

I’ve had the MMX 300 for over a year and they are by far the best I’ve heard. And one of the best mics. I would recommend them if someone had the money to spend.
Tyler Jasper pc or console gaming ?
Good headphones are truly worth it. If you dont care about the mic or the wireless aspect you can go even harder on the "audiophile" aspect and get some truly awesome sounding headphones. Personally I got sennheiser hd660s and god they're unbelievable
Please save me from the people recommending fucking ASTROs in the comments.
Fun fact: recently met an older gentlemen (closing in on 80 years of age) who used to be an audio engineer when he was still working and he nonchalantly mentioned studying under Professor Sennheiser in his youth. At first I thought I didn't hear it right or there was no connection but after my curiousity took over and I googled it, THE Fritz Sennheiser used to teach in Hanover, where I currently live.
Great reviews! Just earned yourself a new subscriber! :)
I use Philips Fidelio X2's with an Antlion mic. Love them.
Same combo here. Fidelio X2's are excellent.
@@ckeoni same dude
Why a Antlion mic and not V-Moda Boom Pro which would plug directly in? Only asking because I’ve tried both and like the mod mic sound better but hate having the additional wire
@@clawson32104 sorry not same haha. I use the v moda Not anymore, now I have a usb mic
@@clawson32104 Honestly, I didn't even know about the V-Moda mic until you mentioned it :) You're right though. The extra wire kinda sucks. I mesh wrapped the headset and mic wires together, so it's not too bad now.
Beyerdynamic MMX 300 blows the other two out of the water in every respect. It's on a whole new level. Use Dekoni synthetic leather pads on them for complete eargasm. Sennheiser's mic is probably the worst mic ever made. Not sure why anyone would use wireless for gaming when gaming is stationary and wired is superior in every way. Also Audio Technika, as good sounding as their products are, is notorious for making some of the most uncomfortable headphones. I've tried a couple in the past and couldn't last even 5 minutes.
Good video Frank p the 3rd head set looks the best
I also have the beyerdynamic, I can not report any problems with it (But I use it on a Steinberg UR22Mk2, maybe that is why. The noise gate you're talking about at 12:20, could be AGC "automatic gain control" in the mic properties.
you should try the Audeze Mobius headset... high-fi, wireless or wired, planar magnetic
better just audeze lcd1 and zm-mic1
Didnt know they had one! Although I bet it's not that much better than the gsp 670? These companies just need to go all in with no compromise and make like a $1000 headset that sounds as good as their headphones. I'd buy that

8:54 “oh wtf”
OK that last part was funny. Pretty good review. Nice work.
Please do a budget version of this
"Audiophile" and" "wireless" dont go together if you really want to talk about audiophile grade headsets those ain't it because of the low impedance and the wireless thingy. I know it ain't such a thing on the market right now but still props to you to try educating people to good sound quality in general.
Yeah agreed.
Couldnt of said it better myself.
I would disagree. There are some very high quality wireless headphones that can easily punch with the big boys. The Sennheiser's and the Audiotechica's implementations, I would agree, aren't good. However, Beyerdynamic actually kept with their quality, and made it with a mic. If I ever bought a headset, that's probably what I would buy..... Other then the Audizie Mobius. To be frank, a standalone mic through an XLR interface still is king of the roost in my book, and I would sill just look into a modmic before a headset. Also, really? Impedance is NOT what makes a headphone "audiophile"
@@jordanhart9708 I agree about having an external is the better solution, the point I tried to make with the impedance is that in most cases headphones with high impedance need more power and thus can carry more details of a sound although there are some exceptions and people who have those kind of cans do own some kind of amp/dac. All of it combined leaning to an audiophile listening experience.
@@maelroudaut5281 Sadly I can not describe how much I want to beat my skull into a wall right now... Yes, most audiophiles do use dedicated amp/dacs. Yes, high impedance headphones CAN produce more detail then lower impedance headphones when fed enough power.... This does NOT, however, mean that in order to obtain this "audiophile listening experience" that you must have an external amp/dac (cause even your on board audio has them!!!) and high impedance headphones. Lower impedance headphones (aka MOST EVERY HEADPHONE YOU WILL FIND EVER) can still benefit from a stronger amp then what you have on board, a better DAC, and high quality source files. There are also plenty of IEMs that are even lower impedance that are cheap (comparatively speaking) that many audiophiles LOVE (Tin T2, KZ ZS10 Pro, and BLON B3 all come to mind in the $40-50 price range). When I talked about an EXTERNAL solution, I ment an external audio interface for your microphone, eg. Behringer U-Phoria UM2, mixer boards, and the Scarlett from Focusrite along with a dedicated microphone.
As an addition, I would like to recommend Philips Fidelio X2 too. Wide soundstage and amazing imagining. A very immersive headphone. You need to buy seperate mics though since it does not come with one.
I’m deciding between the Fidelio X2 and the Philips SHP9600 which do you think I should get?
@@SillylNico Hi, if you have more to spend get the fidelio. The soundstage is very massive and fidelios sounds really aggressive as well so its good for games or movies. Fidelio X2 is worth the additional cost. However, If you insist on getting a cheaper ones I suggest SHP9500 instead of SHP9600.
@@SillylNico Getting an amplifier+dac combo would be even better. Even though Fidelio has relatively low impedance, 32 ohms, an amplifier+dac combo would drive the headphone to its true potential. Open backs headphone usually require more power than the specification since the sound leaks out. But the sound being able to leak out is what makes open back headphones have massive soundstage. The amp+dac combo that I am using right now is Fiio K5 Pro and I definitely recommend it.
Loved the video. Can you do one with electric shooting noise canceling headphones?

@@leighcarolan6429 i’ve never listened to the fidelio, but i have a pair of shp9500s so i assume they’re similar. I agree they sound airy…and that’s by design because they’re open back. If you’ve only had bassy, closed-back cans before it’s a very different kind of sound. What makes them great is the positional/spatial audio and imaging. You can really pinpoint where sounds are coming from, and the response is flat, so you’re hearing the audio as it was designed. if you’re looking for a lot more bass punch like a pair of Beats, you’ll be disappointed…but you would have known that already from reading reviews, etc
