HyperXs always have a very distinctive microphone sound, you can usually immediately tell someone is using them by their microphone sound. Dunkey uses them in his gameplay segments and you can always tell. They have that specific compressed feeling.

Found this video way late, but this is making me happy with my choice in headset (exactly the HyperX you showed but the red is silver instead). Got them for Christmas about 2 years ago and still going strong, with just a little bit of warpage on the mic line from fiddling with it so much. The mic does pop on the receiving end if you play with it, but otherwise it's quite good. I can wear them basically all day, and they only ever feel uncomfortable if I put on glasses with them. Also, the cable is long as all hell and just heavy enough to feel it lift, so I never get the infamous cord yank when standing up.

I have been using "gaming" headsets for 20 years, none lasted longer than 2 years. I am now using a Philips SHP9500 with mic attachment. So far (nearly a year) lasted longer than my last 2 headsets, and was easier to take off the pads and clean unlike nearly all the others, and the pads seem to be holding up better. I hope they last and don't deteriorate.
I just have a rough history with any headphones. The only ones that have lasted me years are the really bazaar Sony HW700s that I even got used. There a weird wireless headphones designed to be used with your HDMI output from your device and a box that sends a wifi signal to it from the box. It's really weird but has lasted nearly 10 years now. Otherwise I go through headphones constantly. I've gone through 2 sets of Ether CX (one had the connection port fall out, one the headband somehow snapped), one one AEON Flow 2 (blew it up as I was having temporary hearing loss and thought the headphones were bugging out), Koss ESP 95X (channel imbalance like most electro stats get, could get them fixed with the lifetime warranty but don't think it's worth fixing them), Triton gaming headphones (charge port failed), and ATH MSR7 (hinge broke off). All of those in the last 10 years. I'm lucky if my set lasts over a year no matter the brand. Hell even earbuds are a mess. I've had 3 sets of Sony WF-1000 XM4 and one had a catastrophic failure with the battery and got a warranty replacement, and the other two both have a channel imbalance that doesn't seem to be fixable. And I also had two sets of Tin T2s fail with the wire connection terminal wearing out. Not the 3.5mm, the small one at the ends of the buds.
Yeah I made the switch a bit ago. On PC I switched to an audio interface and XLR mic and Koss PRODJ200, then on XBox same headphones with a Modmic-style on-line boom mic. I swap back to my Logitech gaming headphones every now and then just to remember the good ole days and I always hate it.

I recently bought the HyperX Cloud 2's and I gotta say, you might not like how they fit and sound out of the box. For me they sounded quite dead and muddy but that can be fixed by using an EQ like Equalizer APO on windows to get a more fun V shaped curve going(or whatever else you like, just be mindful of the gain so they don't clip). As for the fit, if you have a head large enough to have to fully extend the headset, you might find it really uncomfortable at first but it does get better the more you wear it. The pads are a massive pain to change and the spare ones are only good as spares while you wait for new leather ones(the spare ones make the sound worse and let all the noise in because they can't seal). The 7.1 surround mode is fun to mess around with but I can't speak to its accuracy in competitive games. Overall, comfort wise they're no match for my old Cougar Phontums but sound wise (with an eq on both) the cloud 2s do sound slightly better, they let very little noise in, the 7.1 surround is a fun bonus and you might have an actual chance of finding replacement pads for them, unlike the Phontums.

I had the Steel Series Arctis Nova Pro Wireless for a brief time, they sounded so bad I just couldn't keep them. Even funnier is that the one channel failed in the like 3 days I had them. Still can't believe anyone would make headphones today that don't have cup swivel.
*Me seeing the blue $25 gaming headphones I got for my two boys* Meh. They do just fine for a 9 and 12 year old. 🤣🤣
Makes good headphones sound even better too 👌
Can you do a video about JBL E45 bt please
@@yusufismail6249 I tried the e55 and the bass felt like it was punching into my ears. But I'll tell they're super comfortable so you don't need to worry about that
Mohanad the absolute unit thanks for the feed back my e45 is getting old so I’ll buy the e55 and I’ll sub to you
If you are going to buy some cheap headphones I would recommend the HunterSpider V4 they are about 20-25 USD on eBay. I use them, and they are wonderful. (For the price)
Today I learned I'm not hard of hearing in my left ear, I just have a razer kraken.
I’m with you on that one, but not too long ago was messing with the little volume adjuster and squeezed the flat sides of it and BOOM! The left side came to life!!!!! It gets weak here and there but now I just give it a little squeeze or a tap and right back to life. I dont like that I have to do that little trick but hey it works.

Good to know that the hydrafx headphones i bought for this christmas werent bad quality. Thank you for making this video.
I would recommend the old school Steelseries Siberia V2, they were amazing. And cheap. Creative Fatal1ty line-up still deserves a shout, even though they are becoming rarer. And one entire brand you missed out on is Logitech, they have some good ones.
Bought my V2 in 2016, when they had already stopped production. Good sound, super comfortable. Mic was meh and died after 3 years, the rest is still going strong except the head cushion thing fell off. Got it repaired, but that didn't last very long, so now I just put it on separately lol
@@georgiykireev9678 Mine's cable died but it was going strong up until then, wonder if I could get it fixed as the cable was not removable
I don’t blame him for giving up on trying to describe sound lmao
Him: Here, take a quick listen Me, listening with speakers: ah, yes. sounds great, m8
What do speakers change about the audio quality?
Cr33p3r HD everything
DecliningShip 420 But there are tons of speakers out there, wich are on part with really good headphones. You would still be able to make out the differences in audio fidelity.
Cr33p3r HD Audio quality takes a huge dip when you're blasting the sound out into open space. The environment and even the air itself warps the audio. Easier to control audio when the sound device is right up against the ear.
@@cr33p3rhd6 A good speaker setup can be really fun to listen to, but it'll never be accurate, the way a high-end pair of headphones is. Different products for different uses.
My daily driver is the ATH-M50x with a Mod Mic attachment and it’s super solid, especially the Mod Mic. Definitely gonna need aftermarket ear covers for the M50s as they’re not too good for long term wear.
With the razer ones, with the left earphone, you just have to slightly lower the volume slider on the back of the headphones and it’ll balance out.
why not just get good headphones tho lol
@@ari-51 I’ve used them for ~3 years and they are very good. I recently got 4x the price headphones and there’s a noticeable difference but they keep up pretty well. As a budget pair of headphones, with the surround sound, they’re great. They’re my 3rd favourite headphones.

Me listening to Hyperx's Cloud 2's on my Hyperx's Cloud: Hmm yes... sounds like improvement
Are they good for music?
@@BlackinWhite9 Good, don't think anyone will complain. Base is on the better end and audio clarity in things like games, hearing footsteps is also good, not muddled.
@@venomtailOG thanks do you use them on phone?
@@BlackinWhite9 I do, but they don't work on my Android without the mic plugged in, so taking them out and about feels a little awkward with the mic hanging out. It works in Apple phones without the mic. Despite this issue, I love these things.
@@markzero3363 you can plugg in the mic and unplugg it when they are already plugged to the phone. Or just try a ridiculous amount of times, sometimes they just work with no reason
I want an indie game where you wander in an aussie man’s house, find audio logs and they are DankPods’s random mic test lines from this video.

2 years later i still keep coming back to use this as a reference, thanks!
I've got myself some HyperX Cloud Alpha's, very similar to the Cloud 2s and sound great, super comfy. Best headset i've had for a while after my cheap pair kicked the bucket.
The headphone recording comparison was stellar! Probably the best actual review of headphones I've experienced. Frequency response graphs are genuinely great, but sometimes it's like listening to somebody describe the Mona Lisa. I just wanna *see*! The differences in response and signature between all of those headsets came through very well, and clearly put their capabilities on display. Also, there is a practical reason to have a slightly boofy mic on a gaming headset; it suppresses keyboard clacks (clacky shiny R-G-B keyboards, so hot right now). Honestly I just subscribed for the laughs, so this is kinda boggling my mind right now.
If you like headphone sounddemos look for oluvs gadgets on yt
Never tried OCM reviews or Jimsroom ? Best reviews ever
I just use my blue toot headphones
random_n hey there is a reason for the loud keyboards I assume you know but just in case you don’t, they are mechanical keyboards with provides better speed and performance

Ive been using the Cloud 2’s for a while, and hearing that I wasn’t alone in thinking they sound really good was really nice, haha
What I gather from this is that I need to get some HD600s
