The HyperX Cloud II is made with softer leatherette than the Alpha and Alpha S. The Alpha has the best mic quality, and the Alpha S is the most convenient with compatibility with NGENUITY, mic monitoring, and game-chat balance.

  • I really enjoyed your in-depth review of these headphones. I ended up getting the cloud alpha and even though I've noticed some issues with the sound going out slightly when the cable is moved, I'm pretty happy with the choice. You went through every aspect of these headphones and I've watched this several times to get all of your information. Great Job and keep it up!

  • Just to add something I learned from testing: the USB controller on the Cloud II did not work with the PS4 in my experience. So you'll have to adjust the volume levels in the PS4 settings. But the Alpha S controls including 7.1 worked perfectly on PS4. EDIT: Cloud II USB card works on PS4 with a firmware update.

  • Hello! After watch your video, finally get the Cloud Alpha S (small price difference, more content in the box and being a revision gave me more confidence that the Crosstalk problem was solved), but i detect that when i pluging the headset directly by the 3.5 Jack i have to put the level of audio to maximum to listen as louder than my old headset (Krom Krush Zero) so... what i am doing wrong? Maybe it's because the cable doesn't have a audio control in the jack 3.5 cable? Or because i put it the sliders in middle or low...? I am only tested the headset by Xbox One controller and Smartphone And about compared with the regular Alpha... Do they sound the same to you both from 3.5 or from USB the Alpha S and from Jack 3.5 the Alpha? In that case i would try to connect the USB to Xbox and see if it detects, but apparently it's not compatible, my idea was to plug in the TV by Jack 3.5, to use it in various consoles, it's doesn't mind me really much the microphone because i doesn't play by mic as i usually like I did in the past and it doesn't seem bad to me in the S, apart from that you can hear yourself with the USB Apart from that, a specific question that maybe could you help me... I have Dolby Atmos in my Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G and when i activated, some songs sound really better, but others (like Doom OST for example) sound distorted... when is it recommended to activate the Dolby Atmos exactly? Thanks in advance and great video

    • There are a lot of questions here, but let me try to hit as many as I can. Through 3.5 mm, both the Alpha and Alpha S get to the same volume in my experience. Both are not as loud as the Cloud II. The USB on the Alpha S doesn't seem to boost it any louder or change the audio quality. The impedence of both the Alpha and S are 65 Ohms and the Cloud II is 60 Ohms. The lower, the easier to power. Lastly, I was reading on reddit that HyperX headsets after the Cloud II are made to be quieter on purpose due to regulations, but I'm not sure how true that is. Basically, Alpha and S don't normally get super loud unless you have an amp. They're about the same volume as most of the other headsets on the market, but not as loud as the Cloud II. As for Dolby Atmos, it's really just because it's a filter. If you're listening to any stereo track (and with stereo headphones), your mileage will vary because the track wasn't really meant to go through that extra audio filter. I've used a lot of surround sound and Dolby Audio implementations, and I honestly don't like any of them.

  • My Cloud Cores recently broke down so i'm looking for a replacement/upgrade. Since i have my splitter from Core and i don't think i'll be using 7.1 (I can just use my spliter with Clouds II or Alpha s for better microphone quality right?), which one would you recommend, assuming the usage of Equalizer APO? And how does Astro A40 TR without MixAmp compare to them? Im speding a lot of time with headphones on so i was thinking about Cloud II, but i don't really play FPS. I don't really care about Bass either... I mostly talk on discord, listen to music And play single player games from time time. All 3 Clouds have similar price in my country, so i can pay a bit more for alpha s if they are worth it.

    @Kalfas-qc6ju@Kalfas-qc6ju Жыл бұрын
    • Alright considering the splitter and Equalizer APO it's pretty straightforward. Comes down to which one of these two is more important. Better sound overall: Alpha. Better comfort: Cloud II. As for the A40, I prefer it over both in terms of sound and it's close to the Cloud II in comfort. The A40 might not be necessary if you don't care about bass though.

  • Please help to decide: Steelseries Arctis Pro (wired) Or Kingston HyperX Cloud Alpha S I'll be using them for gaming but also for listening music. Also theres a lot of speculation of (both models) mic quality it doesn't bother me, what i need is max connectivity - able to connect to my smartphone, laptop and gaming pc. So max performance should be not only on USB but also on standard 3.5 mm jack. Where could i experience decent bass, lows mids and highs?

    @aphexgaming1983@aphexgaming19832 жыл бұрын
    • I don't have the Arctis Pro, but if like other SteelSeries headsets then it will have even less bass than the Alpha S. So I'd get the Alpha S in that case.

      @BadIntentStreamTechReviews@BadIntentStreamTechReviews2 жыл бұрын
    • @@BadIntentStreamTechReviews Initially was obsesed with Steelseries Arctis Pro - minimalastic design and "for audiophiles" perk - "that reproduce Hi-Res audio out to 40,000 Hz, nearly double what most standard headsets are capable of (22,000 Hz).". Diggin' deeper found out these have serious design - durability flaws which are real issue if you are that planet-friendly person who like to use fav product really long time - 4 - 7 year. Also these are not friendly for the big heads :) Second selection was Hyperx Cloud Alpha S. Initially thought it was a serious upgrade (from Cloud Alpha) in all aspects from sound and mic to connectivity and convenience (cause it was released after several years after Cloud Alpha). But i was wrong - the sound or design did not improve at all, furthermore they added cheap gimmick - 7.1 surround (but im not 16yo anymore and find it more like useless) but ALSO made some serious functionality FLAWS (in 3.5 mm mode you cannot control volume directly on the line like you can do it on much cheaper Cloud Alphas). So finally i ordered HyperX Cloud Alphas (not S). Happy with it! These can sit on the head for 6-7 hour and feel no discomfort, sound is crisp and clear. Dual chambers is not a marketing trick - bass is epic (compared to all the headphones i had before). They are really damn sturdy, also perfect for gaming (at the moment i play Valorant). I believe they are decent for streamers and music listeners also.

      @aphexgaming1983@aphexgaming19832 жыл бұрын
    • @@aphexgaming1983 Right on, yeah the Alpha is overall a good buy. Glad you enjoy it. Also the thing SteelSeries doesn't brag about is having double the frequency response of most headphones is completely useless because human hearing only goes from 20Hz to 20 kHz anyway.

  • You deserve more subs. Excellent detailed review and I like your explanation of each. I already have the CloudII and have used it for four years, I just needed to know if the Alpha had better audio quality. The most important aspect to me is dialogue audio, I'm deaf in one ear and struggle with certain frequencies in the other. Just for clarification would you say dialogue sounds louder/clearer on the CloudII or the Alpha? You seem to be the only person who has gone into this much detail of these headsets on KZhead. You've gained a new subscriber. 👍

    @GADG3Tx87@GADG3Tx872 жыл бұрын
    • The Alpha is more accurate in terms of everything being the right pitch/tone but I wouldn't say clearer. They're about even there. As for volume, the Cloud II actually got a bit louder on my PC. So for dialogue specifically, I don't think it's really an upgrade. I'm going to be testing a bunch more headsets in the future, so if one stands out for dialogue better than the Cloud II, I'll cover it and let you know.

  • Just a comment for the splitter part. Most laptops with only one jack have what is called a combo jack that works as both a mic jack and a headphone jack, so when you plug the headset in you just use the single jack and select the headset as the default speaker and mic option in your settings and your laptop will actually pick up mic input as well as drive the headphones. On these combo jacks a splitter is not needed, for this same reason a lot of these headphones can actually be used the same way on mobile devices as both headphones and you can even use the mic for calls!

Is it same for this headsets too?

    @xiRePeNTx@xiRePeNTx2 жыл бұрын
    • Just tested all 3 of these. The volume on all of them when plugged into the PS4 controller are decent volume. Not crazy loud, but loud enough to hurt after a while if you keep them at max volume. No static on any of them. Cloud II is a bit on the quiet side when you use it through USB, but the controls on that don't work on PS4 anyway. Alpha S gets the loudest when you use it USB mode and the 7.1 and other controls work too.

    • 1) Gaming. Cloud II: 8.5. Cloud Alpha S: 8. Cloud Stinger 6.5. 2) Music. Both Cloud II and Alpha S are decent for music, but not really that great unless your device has good EQ software. And they still won't have that strong bass. But Alpha S is better for music than Cloud II because the sound is more accurate. Also, I used to have the Skullcandy Crusher wired version in 2014. Personally didn't like them that much. Not that clear, and the vibration effect was a bit suspect. I'm still on the search for some really good headphones for music - I'll be testing several this month.

I'm really doubting between Cloud 2 and Alpha (alpha S seems more of the same to me right? it only adds a 7.1 card which I'll not use cause that just distorts the audio). Will the cloud 2 be the better option? they look more confortable (in videos), I don't know if the alpha sound much better and it's worth sacrifice cushier pads. And I read people complaining about crosstalk (people hearing from you mic what you're hearing) with the Alpha, IDK if you noticed it. Thanks again main. And if you think there's a better option by other brands around this prices it's welcome too.

    • Yeah the Alpha S doesn't have any real advantage over the Alpha except convenience. If I could pick any out of these myself, I'd get the Cloud II. I like it the best because it's the most comfortable and the loudest. With EQ, it's good for a lot of different use cases. If I could get anything around this price range at all - Astro A40. It's my main wired headset right now (though I usually just use the A50 for convenience). The A40 is often around 2x the price of the Cloud II, but during the holidays it's been on sale a lot. I like the improved bass and I like the ear cushions a lot as well. I haven't had cross talk issues with the Alpha, but I heard that when they released a revised version of the Alpha, they fixed that. Makes sense because I only got these 6 months ago.

  • Hey there, I watched your video a few times, so I can be 1000% sure that I will pick the right headset. You are the only person who actually compared the sounds from the earpieces of the three models and I was Able to chose my perfect One. I wanted a headset that I can use differently in gaming and for music. I bought cloud alpha s (Kingston). The sound card, even though doesn't amplify the sound that great, gives you the pitch and sound of steps that you need to hear. Especially in WARZONE 2. However if I put the headset without the card into my dj console the sound is amazing.... I mean d*mn. the bass is perfect not to laud not to soft. I think that If you put the 3.5 in your phone, it wont sound that great since the headset needs a bit better sound card, to be able to show the full potential. That aside I think your video was verry helpful and very precise for about 95 percent, of facts about those 3 models. I'm impressed the way you do your videos. I'm looking forward for more. And also thank you. I bought Razor Kraken with a sound card before HyperX. It was terrible i returned them. Awful sound awful bass, big as h*ll. Don't recommend it. Keep It real, Keep it Up

  • damm yo that was a nice clean summarized review, am impressed i have a question though.. i've got a gsp 300 i been using for the last 5years now.. and build quality wise... they have held up pretty well.. but i never ever rly dropped em or anything. but otherwise. the earpads leather pealed off within the first 2 years, revealing yellow sponge inside, the headband sponge came off. the clamp force weakened greatly disturbing overall audio quality and comfort. also allowing more outside noise to enter due to weakened clamp force and deteriorated earpads, so noise isolation took a dump. and that sucked balls as after my latest pc upgrade my gpu gets so freaking loud around 3200rpm during heavy loads i might as well shot myself in the head. comfort wise its not as comfortable anymore with that exposed sponge and earpad rubbing against my head, gives me headaches and the already distant drivers felt even more distant cuz they were lifted further away from my ears, everything felt far away the audio is still darn great even after all that though and the headset works without a hitch, using it for music has been a great experience, for gaming however, though it did get the job done i feel it could've been better.. i feel it wasn't as proficient in detecting footsteps. and what not... maybe it was the soundstage? idk. but hey its sennheiser after all. if i could i'd buy replacement earpads but they r costly to order online where i live. about the clamp force though.. best i could do was leave it overnight in the box it came in it's tad tighter for the first 2 hours i wear it , but. it just gos back to being loose. as usual. well its plastic :c anyway. when i initially got the headset i noticed how sharp the highs were overall the clarity was great but i felt it was such a treble oriented headset i had to eq it to ''vocal'' mode with my default realtek driver software to soften it up for some music. at first i just shoved in some cotton into the earpads lmao before i realized i can eq em.. the bass was very lacking but i appreciated the high's so the eq balanced it out prettttttttttty well. i believe the sennheisers don't come eq'ed out of the box huh? which is why its so clear with almost no bass expect for music with prominent bass focus, some music do sound noisy and lost/cluttered though. idk probably the poor audio on the music itself. but yeah this headset is not perfect the mic though was very very nice, i never rly had other stuff to test out. but this mic was astounding for the price point i brought em for back then [90usd] without noise suppression ticked on, it sounded great. the only issue was the hiss.. which i balanced out by reducing input to around 80 and bringing the mic closer manually for those times when i had more chill vc sessions with a free hand. in time though doing that caused the plastic to crack and it turned into a adjustable mic lmao the hiss still turns up in recordings though and it kinda earrapes.. never had a problem with discord or what not complaining of ''hiss/static. so fine on there . just the recordings. never had any echo leak. either. with noise suppression ticked while it wasn't bad i still preferred without it.. i never actually used noise suppression throughout all these years either. but ya the hiss is pretty loud without it, since its not a standalone mic to begin with, the mic IS pretty quiet though. though am soft spoken in general on a side note. i guess its kind of hilarious that am not using the mic as intended with the noise suppression disabled lmao anyway back to my question.. i been meaning to upgrade/get new headset.. and i been trying to decide between the local options, cloud alpha/ cloud 2/cloud revolver S and logitech gpro, i also thought of going for something like a philips/Audio-Technica , with a external mic. like a blue yeti but they ain't a option locally and covid has spiked shipping [though i discovered recently they have free shipping recently] but there's the boya by-mm1 which IS an option locally, i thought about.. eh anyway what's your opinion? since the hyper x alpha is probably not an definitive upgrade from my gsp 300... :c i'd pretty much be using it for multipurpose. and i want it to actually feel like a upgrade i hear the Revolver S has a very wide SoundStage and a slightly better mic but a muddy boosted bass? . while the alpha is more clear but no bass? even though am pretty sure it would have more bass than gsp300 as advertised gpro is said to be sharper almost like the gsp300. but a better mic, with blue voice enabled with logitech software? while the cloud 2/gpro is said to have better sound isolation clamp force. am concerned about sound isolation [cuz noisy pc] and mic quality [i like hearing my own voice lul] i know am being picky since i still want audio better than the gsp300. i don't mind a higher budget if it can serve my purpose for another 5years[probably] so that sends me back to my original thought of finding a replacement something like a philips 9500 [edit][ i later realized its an open back.... nvm] is there something that can solve my purpose music/game/isolation outside of the ones i mentioned? headphones/headset etc mic aside assuming i get a external like the boya mm1 xD my budget would fall around 150usd but will headphones be inadequate for gaming? i researched about imaging and soundstage and what not my biggest issue is local availability p.s my mbo is x570 gaming plus ALC1220 codec do i need a dac?. while alc1220 is probably sufficient. will a 100usd dac make a worthwhile difference

    • Whew that's a lot but let me see what I can work with... So there are several specific models in there I haven't tried yet (including the GSP 300 and the Cloud Revolver), so I can't compare these directly to those. But I can compare them to the other headsets I have and the ones I've used in tournaments. When it comes to clarity, the Cloud Alpha (and Alpha S) is definitely the clearest of any gaming headset that I've used thusfar and the most accurate. Hearing all the little details in a game I didn't realize were there was really nice. They're a bit less harsh on highs than the Cloud II also. But again for footsteps, Cloud II are gonna be the best. When it comes to sound isolation, these are all passable but not great - they really don't block out sound and they do leak sound. I also have a loud PC fan and I can hear it, but with the game volume on it's not noticeable. The mic cuts out background noise pretty well though, including sound coming out the earcups so echo won't be a problem. The Alpha also has a pretty good mic because it doesn't have to go through the DAC. So basically I think if you get the Alpha, you'll be satisfied with it and be able to use it for several years. There are still a lot more headsets and headphones that I'm going to be testing over the next few months, but so far I think the Alpha is the best for multiple use cases. Hopefully that helped, I wasn't quite sure where to start with this one!

When audio is playing, you can't hear outside noise, but by themselves they don't block out my PC fan at all really. Mic is better on the Alpha because the V2 mic has to go through the Razer USB sound card which compresses the audio. Synapse can't help the mic really. As for built in equalizers I can't say for sure. My desktop PC doesn't have one built in. But if it works for your other headsets then the Alpha should be no different. As for the Snowball, I think it's a useable mic but for a similar price you can get one with better background noise rejection like the Samson Q2U (best) or Razer Seiren Mini. • Well the Samson Q2U isn't a gaming mic specifically, but I highly recommend it. It doesn't pick up keyboard, PC fan, and controller sounds nearly as much as the more popular mics like the Blue Yeti. Durable, great sound, and usually inexpensive.
